Tillman’s wife: nation needs ‘authentic leadership.’

In her first public comments since her husband’s death by friendly fire, Marie Tillman, wife of NFL athlete-turned-Army Ranger Pat Tillman, said that the nation needs real leaders. “We are in need of authentic leadership on many levels,” said Tillman.

I will absolutely give her the benefit of the doubt with regard to not wanting to be in the public spotlight. I am very happy that his mother and brother are taking the lead there.

With all of the talk about the possible cover up – not to mention the possibility of murder – my heart truly goes out to her.

Mere speculation. One could say it’s self-serving speculation because his conjecture somehow entitles “Augustus” to trash Chomsky.

One could easily suggest Chomsky didn’t speak up BEFORE Tillman’s death because he didn’t want to endanger Tillman’s life. Considering the circumstances SURROUNDING Tillman’s death, that theory would appear to have more validity than Augustus’ simplistic, crass one.

At the time, no one was speaking out, and Tillman wrote to his mom about receiving death threats of getting “fragged” if he didn’t stop talking bad about Bush or the war in Iraq.

Just when you think that the TP trolls cannot possibly be any more stupid, one of them rolls out something like this.

Noam Chomsky making a fortune on books and the lecture circuit. If this isn’t parody, someone needs to rush medication to the troll.

And to Mr Pee, aka AVGVSTVS , who proves once again that he’s even stupider than the stupidest troll, which is a physical impossibility — yet there he is.

Noam Chomsky is a genius, a patriot, and one of America’s best. Mr Pee, on the other hand, is a fool. I’d call him a derivative thinker, but that would imply the ability to “think”, which is clearly another impossibility.

SAN FRANCISCO Army medical examiners were suspicious about the close proximity of the three bullet holes in Pat Tillman’s forehead and tried without success to get authorities to investigate whether the former NFL player’s death amounted to a crime, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.

“The medical evidence did not match up with the, with the scenario as described,” a doctor who examined Tillman’s body after he was killed on the battlefield in Afghanistan in 2004 told investigators.

Recently I went up on the so-called Kaiser Loop, a 15-mile round-about hike to Kaiser Peak (about 10,300 feet). Lo and behold!—there were three hikers on the summit in that rarified atmosphere. And after exchanging pleasantries about the beauties of the empty wilderness, one well spoken and nice person remarked about the exploitation of the forests (yet not a house, road, or human to be seen), and the greed of developers (the nearest road hasn’t been improved since the 1940s).

Then Presto!—out came Katrina, Iraq, Bush this, Bush that. The clear air, the panoramic vista, the Sierra junipers—none of that could stop the onset of this paroxysm, this fit of madness. I hiked down, unsure whether I should have called the paramedics to copter him to Fresno.

Bush is attempting to use executive privilege to cover up details of the murder.
Personally, I would call that accessory to conspiracy to commit murder.

  118. Frank J says:

The facts are that the Tillman death was investigated and it was found he was killed by friendly fire.

The other fact is that Abbas said Bush said God told him to take out Saddam so I consider the source and the jumping on by the BDS sites though it is more likely he took out Al Qaeda because they attacked us and Saddam because he agreed with Clinton, Gore and Kerry on the topic. Did he pray about it? Certainly. Does he as a Christian want to do God’s will of course. Does that mean that he heard the voice of God on this subject, of course not.

    Any facts I’m missing?

  132. Wayne says:

So it is phony until you get the results you want?

    Comment by Frank J

Every story of the Tillman Murder told by the Bush Whitehouse has proven out to be a lie. The true story has yet to be told.

  133. bilbogaggins says:

“Jay said he was murdered. The story says he “may” have been murdered and then by his own men if at all. The investigators say otherwise.”

You are right Francine, all the investigators that participated in the coverup say that he was not murdered. But, we can’t know the truth because Congress can’t get to his medical records because Bush has claimed Executive Privilege in releasing them. This I find rather strange because EP is supposed to apply to things that the President is involved in. And Bush says he had nothing to do with the cover-up of Tillman’s death. So, if he has nothing to hide, why won’t he allow the Army to release Pat Tillman’s medical records to Congress who wants to do an independent investigation. You know what independent means don’t you Frankie. An investigation not by the people who have a lot to lose if it turns out that Pat Tillman was, in fact murdered.

  134. Frank J says:

Again, that feeds the BDS. The military is guilty of stupidity in not coming out and saying what happened because it would have been a PR nightmare..which of course by not telling what happened it became anyway.

That is a far cry from the BDS that leads to the belief that he was murdered by the administration. For reasons I’m sure BDS can easily provide.

  135. Jay Randal says:

No Frank > REAL investigation is done by impartial team of experts.

  136. chingebush says:

    Some other relevant facts:

Tillman’s uniform and protective gear were burned on the spot, pre-investigation.

The soldiers with him were told to not tell the truth to Tillman’s brother.

There was no evidence of enemy fire.

The doctors who did the investigation recommended a crimninal investigation, but it didn’t happen.

And Wyne’s point, which ios entirely lost on non-shooters, the three round burst to the forehead.

Any other facts we should ignore to keep the shit off our diety?

  137. bilbogaggins says:

“The facts are that the Tillman death was investigated and it was found he was killed by friendly fire.”

Ok Francine, if that’s all there is to it, then why is Bush trying to keep Congress from seeing his medical records? Why has Bush declared EP if it was simply “friendly fire”?

Anyone besides me notice that Francine likes to ask questions, but does not answer questions. That’s why I call him Francine, because he doesn’t have the balls to answer questions.

  138. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Careful, boys… you’re going after Frankie w/ “facts” and “meaningful questions”. Don’t wanna overwhelm him, do ya?

Indeed, why do “facts” and “meaningful questions” hate America so?

Hey, Frankie’s gonna treat the whole thread to Freedom Fries! Git’em while they’re pipin’ hot, folks! Yum!!!

  139. Frank J says:

Congress independent investigation is an oxymoron. The BDS crowd could careless about Tillman. They want to use a military man’s death to further their sick BDS wishful thinking.

  140. bilbogaggins says:

“Any other facts we should ignore to keep the shit off our diety?
    Comment by chingebush”

One other relevant fact. They burned his diary. Now why would they do that? Why would they burn his uniform? Why have they never identified who was the soldier that fired the fatal shot? Why did they refuse to have an impartial investigation.

So Francine, you are so good at asking questions. Why don’t you take a stab at answering these questions. Go on, maybe you can win your balls back.

  141. Jay Randal says:

Frank > if Bush has nothing to hide, then REAL investigation would exonerate him.

  142. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Congress independent investigation is an oxymoron. The BDS crowd could careless about Tillman. They want to use a military man’s death to further their sick BDS wishful thinking.

  143. bilbogaggins says:

Come on everyone. From this day forward “Frank J” is not Francine. He is an empty suit, a straw man with no substance. He asks questions which we answer. But, whenever we ask him questions, he lacks the balls to answer the questions. All he does is change the subject or throw out another straw man.

So, from this day forward Think Progress posters will call Frank J Francine in honor of his lack of balls.

  144. bilbogaggins says:

oops… Should have said “now Francine”, not “not Francine”. I hate it when I do that.

  145. Jay Randal says:

Funny that the GOPers were allowed to dig through every trash pile on Clinton, but Bush is supposed to be treated special huh?

  146. chingebush says:

This Tillman issue is beyond partisan. We could disagree on the budget for welfare, we could even disagree about to what extent Bush lied to drag us into his war, but to defend the cover up of a possible murder of a fine soldier is beyond belief.

These “people” are sickening, disgusting losers that shoudn’t be suffered.

  147. Jay Randal says:

It is very reasonable to want the killer of Tillman to be found out. That soldier would need to explain the 3 shots to Pat’s forehead at close range.

  148. The Republic of Stupidity says:

So, from this day forward Think Progress posters will call Frank J Francine in honor of his lack of balls.

  149. Frank J says:

BDS of course makes everything into a conspiracy. In this case EP in the Tillman case. The military turned over 10,000 documents including the medical records. What Congress wants is the internal discussion about the spin put on the story. For political reasons of course. The WH says no. They shouldn’t they should give the moonbats what they want and then talk about how they are using a military man’s death for political purposes.

    Next.

  150. The Republic of Stupidity says:

  152. pete says:

A couple more facts. The Pentagon invented a rather involved fantasy about enemy action and presented it to his family as truth. The White House confirmed.

Then, when word got out, they invented another fantasy about an “accidental” shooting at long range. A supposition that directly contradicts published, official, documents. The White House confirmed this second lie.

The military did investigate but, there was no criminal investigation despite the coroner’s request.

  153. Jay Randal says:

Last press article I saw on Tillman mentioned a cargo humvee following behind caravan of military vehicles and mercenary snipers in the humvee. If Bush is covering for Blackwater assassins, then he is in deep poop if it comes out.

  159. bilbogaggins says:

“The military turned over 10,000 documents including the medical records.”

Proof Francine. You are always asking us to prove what we say, now you prove what you said. Give us a link to any reputable source that says that the military turned over 10,000 documents including the medical records.

  160. Frank J says:

I’m sure the moonbats have a motive for Tillman’s “murder”?

    Comment by VerbalKint — August 23, 2007 @ 12:50 am

Appears to be somewhat more severe.

  162. Jay Randal says:

Frank > Pat had 3 bullet holes in his forehead. Kind of hard to make that an accident. Seems somebody wanted Tillman positively dead.

  163. bilbogaggins says:

So Francine says that Bush has declared EP because he thinks that the Democrats are on a witch hunt.

Well, Francine, if he has nothing to hide why is he hiding behind EP?

  164. Jay Randal says:

It might end up that a Blackwater mercenary sniper just wanted a thrill and plugged Tillman in the head for fun.

  165. bilbogaggins says:

“papers do not include critical documents that would show communications between senior administration officials and top military officers shortly after Tillman was killed in Afghanistan in 2004.”

From the article that Francine linked to. So Francine, why would Bush not want Congress to have the documents that told about communications between senior administration officials and top military officers shortly after he was killed? What do they have to hide?

  166. Frank J says:

Come on Jay I know you have a motive.

  167. bilbogaggins says:

    One last try.

FRANCINE: What is Bush hiding? If he and his administration did nothing wrong then why are they withholding the requested documents?

  168. Jay Randal says:

Mercenaries have been filmed in Iraq shooting old men, women, and children for sport, so maybe one of them did Tillman in Afghanistan.

  169. Frank J says:

    Going out on a limb here…but I would say….politics.

  170. Jay Randal says:

Frank > motive is found out when the killer is revealed. He will have to say WHY he shot Pat in forehead 3 times.

  171. bilbogaggins says:

The one question I would like to see answered is “Who shot Pat Tillman”. With todays forensics, it would have been very easy for the military to identify the gun that fired the fatal bullets. Why have they never done that? Aren’t they interested in who shot him? If not, why not? They have admitted that there was no enemy fire anywhere around where Pat Tillman and his unit were, so why did someone shoot him 3 times in the head?

  172. bilbogaggins says:

    “Going out on a limb here…but I would say….politics.
    Comment by Frank J “

Is that an answer to the questions I asked you? If so, it makes no sense.

Why can’t you answer the questions people are posing to you?

  173. Frank J says:

  174. Jay Randal says:

Mercenary assassin might claim he disliked Tillman being a football star, and wanted a thrill to blow his brains out, or that he was paid to kill him.

You not liking the answer is not the same as me not answering.

  176. michael says:

  177. Frank J says:

Not only BDS but an imagination as well…impressive.

  178. bilbogaggins says:

“You not liking the answer is not the same as me not answering.

Oh, you answered the questions. Where? I must have missed it. All I saw was your saying that Bush has the right to EP because he thinks that Congress is on a witch hunt.

The important question that you refuse to answer is:

What does Bush have to hide. Why is he refusing to turn over the documents? If he has done nothing wrong, then he has nothing to hide, does he?

  179. michael says:

How come TP hasn’t started a post about the latest intelligence report that lays the neglect of bin laden’s attack on us right at clinton’s feet? TP, we are waiting?

Bush failed to secure the USA, Bush ran away and hid, Bush failed to stop the anthrax attacks, Bush failed to secure iraq, bush let Osama get away twice AFTER 9/11. Your BDS is acting up again, like Frank J’s little fantasy. I can easily imagine Bush ordering tillman killed to avoid the embarrassment of an honest appraisal of Bush’s Disaster In The desert by someone who would be listened to closely by the whole country. Easily. Bush has proves since he was a child that he has no respect or regard for human life, so until he lets the records be seen by the public, I have to assume he set up Tillman. If he’s not guilty, what’s he hiding?

  190. Frank J says:

    More facts:

Tillman, a former National Football League player, died when fellow soldiers accidentally shot and killed him near the Afghan-Pakistani border April 22, 2004. Initial reports, however, incorrectly stated the soldier was killed by enemy fire.

One week after Tillman’s death, Army Maj. Gen. Stanley McChrystal, then the Joint Staff’s vice director for operations, sent a memo suggesting the soldier was not killed by insurgents. The memo went to Myers, Abizaid and Army Lt. Gen. Philip Kensinger, who commanded U.S. Army Special Operations Command at the time. McChrystal even recommended the generals inform President Bush the friendly-fire scenario was “highly possible.”

Tillman’s family did not learn that the soldier’s death was being investigated as a possible fratricide until the Defense Department announced five weeks later that Tillman died at the hands of fellow soldiers. According to Army policy, families are to be informed when there’s a possibility their loved one died from friendly-fire.

“(The Army) should have talked about the possibility of that as soon as they knew it,” Myers said.

Sure sounds like Bush had him murdered because he had tea with Noam Chomsky.

Accessory charges often involve the same penalties as the act. The murder of a U.S. soldier, in time of war, is a capital crime. Many different venues, from the U.S. military to the Afghan Government, can bring murder charges at any time.

“pathetic liar michael, try holding your breath. maybe you can improve this world by leaving it. you have no chance otherwise.

Calling me a liar in front of your pathetic liberal friends, who, like zooey have a collective intelligence of an entire 6th grade public school class doesn’t help your childish view of this world! Hold my breath? Wow! What Disney publication did you get that from? It would help your credibility if you could elaborate your views with facts instead of stupid liberal rhetoric!

  203. pete says:

I suppose I should have mentioned something about probable cause but, I’m getting sleepy.

  204. ronjazz says:

How will the Left exploit this grieving widow?

All these questions and more will be answered in the weeks to come, here, at ThinkDefeat!

    Comment by Makarios — August 23, 2007 @ 1:26 am

The right has taken her husband from her, and lied about it, and covered it up, and destroyed his diary and uniform that were rightfully hers. The left can do nothing but help her, and she has no choice but to turn to the left, where people will support her and care about her, unlike the pissy-pants cowards on the right, who are afraid of gold star mothers and war widows. what pathetic freaks and cowards you are No wonder we’ve lost in Iraq and Afghanistan.

  205. michael says:

ron, I’m still waiting for you to document my lies?

  206. pete says:

Intelligence is not age dependent. The collective intelligence of any class (figure around 30 people?) would make one a super-mega-hella-genius!

  207. michael says:

    ron, focus? My lies?

  208. ronjazz says:

dance, mikey monkey, dance! spin around until you fall down!

I control this monkey-liar, who never has any proof of his statements that are lies, and who wants everyone else to do his homework.

    Dance some more, monkey-liar!

  212. michael says:

Umm… America is winning both of those conflicts.

    Comment by Makarios — August 23, 2007 @ 1:38 am

Excuse me? Got any proof to back that up?

  213. ronjazz says:

Dance faster, monkey-liar! Everybody is enjoying your little show! Everybody is taking note of how you dance instead of proving you didn’t lie! Faster, faster, monkey-liar! Perhaps you’ll fall down, bang your head, and get some sense knocked into you! Perhaps a 6th-grade class will take pity on you and teach you punctuation and about the low moral character that comes with lying all the time! Dance some more, we ‘re all watching!

  214. ronjazz says:

Dance with malarkios, michael, you’re so cute together, with your unsubstantiated, unproven assertions, otherwise known as LIES! Now we have two dancers, everybody! Let’s watch them churn themselves into a righteous Repulican frenzy, which will lead to more lies as to why they’re not fighting in Iraq! The Dance Of The RATwing Liars, exclusively on TP, and TV, or wherever there is a Republican! The most consistent show on Earth, guaranteed lies whenever the dancers show up! Watch and learn, folks, while the Pinochios of the blogosphere dance to my tune!

Good Lord, man… are you actually saying America WANTS to produce record amounts of opium??? ‘Cause that’s waz hoppinin’ in Afghanistan, mon. Hey, are YOU accusing the Brusch Admin of being drug dealers?

Why do you hate America so? No Freedom Fries for Makarios!

I just realized what a retard I’m dealing with! He NEVER has anything of substance to say, only, well look above. It’s probably his public high school education. And I stress public school! Thank God my family and I have been able to avoid it all our lives! ron is a perfect example of what happens if you can’t get out of that cycle!

  227. ronjazz says:

malarkios is doing the Liars Dance, TRoS, and he’s become quite expert, following in the footsteps of the primo liar, michael. they soon will be rivals, and their lies will grow and fester, as in their rivalry and BDS they attempt to lie Bush out of abject failure and exemplary incompetence. They will spin and dance, they will pirouette and bow, weaving a tapestry of untruths, fairy-tales and outrageous claims that will soon equal the daily press briefings of the Great Liars, the Not-Quite-Dead Tony Snow, and the Not-Quite -Alive Ari Fleischer.

Where did my dancing monkeys go? Perhaps they are scared off by the idea of a war widow wondering why The Greatest Of All Liars, Bush, had her husband killed.

British losing faith as Afghan toll climbs
    BRETT POPPLEWELL
    From Thursday’s Globe and Mail
    August 16, 2007 at 3:41 AM EDT
LONDON — The British government is under attack over the war in Afghanistan as the rising troop toll is drawing the kind of negative attention previously given to the deeply unpopular efforts in Iraq.

  229. michael says:

ron you haven’t answered my question. What is 2 + 3?

  230. ronjazz says:

Ah, the Dance Of The Liars continues, in a perfect duet of Untruths and Misstatements, from the monkey-liar michael, who avoided school, and seems to think it was a good thing, and the hater of Gold Star mothers malarkios, who, with his superior intellect, can’t seem to figure out why Cindy Sheehan hates the right and George Bush, and thus threw in with patriots and tellers of truth, on the Left, natch. Her leading of the anti-war forces was, of course, exploitation by the Left. This is what passes for thought in The Liars’ Dance, and this is why monkey-liars michael and malarkios never can prove their accusations. But, do continue, flamers, your tutus are wilting. Dance on, I Command!

  231. The Republic of Stupidity says:

    Remember Cindy Sheehan?

    Comment by Makarios — August 23, 2007 @ 1:52 am

What about her? Cindy Sheehan and Pat Tillman’s wife are 2 different people. According to the saintly Ann Coulter, the 9/11 widders were “self-obsessed” and enjoying their husbands’ deaths.

Hmmm… whose book sales are up due to the war, mon? Who’s exploiting these horrific tragedies for personal gain? Tinl careful, mon.

Ja donna want to embarrass ja self any more than ja already have!

  232. ronjazz says:

Most excellent, they continue the dance! I had the thought, ever so brief, that perhaps we would have to entertain ourselves this night, but I see the monkey-liars only needed to rest a bit before obeying my commands.

  242. Keith says:

I got here late. Have any trolls called Tillman a wimp yet? He was opposed to the Iraq war, you know.

If Chomsky is criticized for the little bit of money he makes————how about the $25,000,000.00 yearly that Rush Limbaugh makes? There was a whole book on Limbaugh’s lies. I would like Mr. Pee/Avgvstvs/Markarios to name one single Chomsky lie.

Mr. Chomsky has been called one of the greatest intellectuals of today.

After reading the posts I’m curious if anyone does have any ideas why Chomsky waited so long after Pat was dead to tell us Tillman was against the War in Iraq?

  252. Probus says:

Marie Tillman is right. The Tillman family is owed an explanation how the cause of death can go from friendly fire to fratricide. The Pentagon and Bush owe this family the truth. So far they have not received it. They must comply with Congress’ demand for documents which have so far been withheld.

  253. u2r2h says:

Hey Tilmann! … bang bang bang Skull explodes, blood everywhere… some US soldiers laughing … total cover-up, war profiteers, untold civilian innocents maimed and murdered by USA sons and daughters in a FOREIGN LAND in a racket for PROFIT AND POWER, oil pipeline routes and AIRBASES and “contracts” to pilfer the people of the USA out out free health-care.

    Anything unclear?

So what are you cowards doing about it?

Wait until the next democrat president tries to clean up the mess and then is impeached for intern-comfort? remember 2 years of MEDIA HYPE against Clinton?
