Davis aide to take ethics classes for his Wikipedia vandalism.

In June, Timothy Hill, the press secretary for Rep. David Davis (R-TN), used his office computer to make a series of edits to his boss’s Wikipedia page, deleting information about political contributions from the pharmaceutical industry. Hill was caught by a Wikipedia administrator who fixed the entries and wrote an article about Hill’s “blanking vandalism.” As punishment, Davis is now requiring Hill to “attend classes on appropriate conduct for congressional staff members.”

Oh yeah, that will certainly teach him a lesson!!

  2. UKBristolDave says:

Hey. it’s a start at least.

  3. brianS says:

The classes will be taught by Jeff Gannon.

  4. kenoshaMarge says:

Davis should attend also. Hard to believe he didn’t know what was happening. And the experience would be good for him and might introduce some new ideas.

I love Republicans obsession with sticking to their brain-washed lies. They have to start their own, BS version of wikipedia called conservopedia, or they vandalize wikipedia to conform to their lies. They are terrified of the truth. Now we’re being bombarded by Republican front groups running ads about how we have to stay in Iraq because “they attacked us on 9/11″. The lies just go on and on…

    Unfortunately, it isn’t a start. It’s merely wink-wink nudge-nudge cynicism.

  7. George says:

Just Catapulting the Propaganda, like any good Republican…

No doubt the class will learn him to do it more deviously the next time.

  8. hellinabucket says:

The class is “Don’t get caught 101″ It’s a required class for republican staffers.

Really? He will get away with stuff like this? Scary. Hello 1984

  10. missmolly says:

Wouldn’t requiring Hill to write “I will not erase Wikipedia entries” a hundred times be about as effective?

“In 2007, U.S. Rep.Davis also cosponsored H.R.1398 to amend the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act of 1980 by providing that manure shall not be considered to be a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant.[5]H.R. 1398 has been referred to the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment.”

    (from the Wikipedia entry)

Read the rest of this creeps track record, and anyone can understand the urge to blank out…..

Pleading the fifth shouldn’t be allowed for a Republican, since it hates the constitution from the start.

  16. Anti-Treason says:

Perhaps having U.S. marshalls escort this entire criminal administration (along with U.S. troops participating in this imperialistic oil aggression) in front of the congress and in U.S. district court should be in order.

Charges: Treason, conspiracy, human rights violations, invasion, harrassment, and the list goes on and on.

“taking classes??” “taking classes?? For what?? His attempt to expunge factual information should be viewed as criminal behavior. Certainly he needs to be relieved of his job which is paid by taxpayers! Out with this sycophantic fraud.

  20. tutmosis says:

As for Karlie Rove, what we’ve learned since his resignation is only the tip of a huge, black iceberg. By the time the elections of 08 roll around, the GOP will have been hijacked byr Rove and his coterie of frauds.

  21. Anti-Treason says:

I bet his assignment will be from Wikibooks….

Congressman Robert Filner(D-CA) has volunteered to beat the hell out of Davis for this eggregious assault on the country and the Constitution by his aide.

Hooo boy, an “aide”….wow, this is big news.

  24. Pretty Pretty Bird says:

HA! If the aide has to take ethics classes for deleting info from lame Wikishatia, then all the libs here should be dragged behind a train for the bullshataroony they post on a daily basis.

  31. Anti-Treason says:

Maybe U.S. troops should take some business ethics courses to learn that shoplifting oil hurts (the country’s) profit and business.

ROS, thanks for the link on Sweeney’s Son. Magnify that a little and you’ll get a perspective of what we can expect from the SCOTUS.

Now, now. I feel your anger as well as anyone, but this was not a criminal act. Unethical, immoral, downright loathesome, and completely WRONG — yes. And, of course, very embarrassing politically. But violating the TOS of a private website is not criminal.

I applaud Wikipedia for both A) allowing outsiders to make legitimate edits to the entries, and B) being diligent enough to detect abuse when it occurs, tracing it to the source, ending the abuse, and correcting the effects of it.

Yes, the Republican Monkey-liar Dance, never-ending and puke-inducing.

David Davis is my representative, though I voted against him. The only thing I know about him is that his campaign commercials consisted of nothing but images of him in a church talking about how he’s against gay marriage and abortion. Damn theocrat.
