Giamatti bases ‘Shoot ‘Em Up’ villain on Karl Rove.»

In his new movie Shoot ‘Em Up,” Oscar-nominee Paul Giamatti plays a “determined criminal” who leads “a gang of assassins” hunting after a newborn baby. According to Shoot ‘Em Up director Michael Davis, Giamatti based his character on a surprising source — Karl Rove:

shootemup.jpgI meet Paul Giamatti in [the New York neighborhood] SoHo on the hottest day of the summer…He says he’d like his character to be based on Karl Rove — a seemingly bookish guy who exercises power behind the scenes. I like it. His character turns out to be way more flamboyant than Rove … but I like how our free-flowing conversation started making the character better than what is on the page.

Rove will be flattered, i’m sure.

I’ve come up with a new theory I like to call The Giamatti Effect. This theory states that the addition of Paul Giamatti to any given movie will make that movie awesome. I’m currently soliciting funds to test this theory, which will involve digitally inserting Paul Giamatti into movie classics such as On The Waterfront, Citizen Kane, Lawrence of Arabia, Boogie Nights, and The Day The Earth Stood Still, among others.

But is his character more flameboyant?

Now that Rove is unemployed, he’ll probably want royalties.

leave to a wingnut to support treason and terrorism. Way to go, Bob.

  15. Shirley Says:

Why not base it on Bill Kristol or Prince of Darkness Richard Perle? Those two are more appropriately thought of as cold-blooded murderers. Rove is a modern polished version of an old-time Flim-Flam Man. He’s just a con artist in a $1K suit.

  16. BJ Says:

I somehow don’t believe Rove reads a lot.

Paul Giamatti is a GREAT actor!!!

I will watch any movie he appears in!!!

  18. Zooey Says:

I agree, dixie. I first saw him in “American Splendor,” and have been hooked ever since.

Will the kudos and ass kissing for the turd blossom ever end? Another question I have is that of the liberal hollywood types: Where are they and why is it that they continue to suck-up to Rove and his passion for the destruction of the American Constitution? Does that make him macho.? Let’s ask Jeff Gannon.

What’s really galling is the double-standard that hypocritical progs tolerate. About 99.9% of journalists refuse to disclose that they’re nothing but paid shills and apologists for the Demoncratic Party, yet they all pretend they’re giving non-biased news and information. Progs are also shamed for defending Al-Maliki and doubting Allawis effectiveness because Maliki is the obstructionist as he can’t reach reconciliation with the Sunnis. For the progs to tolerate Maliki’s failure is indicative of their lust for a bloodier Iraq.

This means that regardless of the conflict of interest, ABC actually affirms the legitimacy of Zelikow’s position.

  23. Progressivesareredundantjacka$$es Says:

. The ABC e-mail (which even ignorant progs can read after clicking the link) actually said that the information provided by Zelikow reflects, accurately, the current view inside the State Dept.

  24. Progressivesareredundantjacka$$es Says:

This supposed conflict of interest is nothing; psychotically, the misjudging radicals at TP are misbehaving as if they have a huge “smoking gun” by exposing this conflict of interest of Zelikow.
