Foley likely to face no charges.

By Amanda Terkel on Aug 24th, 2007 at 6:37 pm

Foley likely to face no charges.

Scripps Howard News Service reports that former congressman Mark Foley “is unlikely to face criminal charges for sending sexually explicit e-mails to teenage boys. … That could change if new evidence surfaces in the next week that proved Foley, 52, sent online messages to male teenagers with the intent to ’seduce, solicit, lure, entice, or attempt to seduce a child,’ a third-degree felony under Florida law.” The House has refused to let Florida investigators examine Foley’s congressional computers, stating that they are “congressional work papers” and only Foley can release them.

another fine example of our congress working for us. sorry, working for the criminal, to harm us. and you think you have representation?
I am shocked, shocked I tell you.

  2. kelso says:

That’s just wrong. Any regular citizen would end up having his house raided and every computer confiscated 5 minutes after the warrant was signed.

Maybe the guy from Dateline NBC will set up a sting, and they can catch the pervert that way.

Contact Nancy Pelosi and tell her to release Foley’s records. What are we trying to accomplish, if not transparency in government concerning the lead up to the war, no-bid contracts, etc., so why protect a sexual predator. Let the investigators examine His congressional computers.

Good to see the GOP protect their child molesters I know Dennis Hastert is happy. Now more kids can get attacked by Fingers Foley.
Only one problem for Fingers he used his email message to a kid in California. Now yes Florida doesn’t mine perverts molesting their children but California does. Fingers Foley will be changed in California and even Governor Arie can’t save Fingers Foley from this charge. Some States don’t like Congressmen molesting kids even if the Attorney General Gonzales doesn’t see it as a crime.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA, libs/progs! This Foley case which you spent so much time on blowing out of proportion for cheap and soulless political gain last year has now blown up in your dumb-looking mugs! No charges means that ALL of you Nazis who convicted Foley as a child molester/predator owe Foley a huge apology for slandering and libeling this poor man. According to libtarded ideology, Foley is no predator because he really suffers from alcoholism (remember how he checked into rehab around Nov or Oct of last year?). Therefore, libtards should coddle him and give him a pass like they do every time that professional screwup Pat Kennedy of RI gets drunk and beats up stewardesses or crashes his car! This Foley case illustrates one, UNDENIABLE FACT: the ONLY child predator EVER to have served in the House was homosexual Demoncrat Gerry Studds who, in the 80s, was exposed for lewdly screwing a 17-year-old page (but depraved Dems still backed him).

He resigned quickly, so he didn’t need to be ousted by vote.

It’s odd how lefty media types shows their charm every time — that somebody is declared to be overwhelmingly guilty on gossip blogs, like the one your posting at, when there isn’t even a case for a preliminary hearing. That’s a defense of the judicial system.

When Mark Foley is caught on ‘To Catch a Predator’ or brought to trial with no democrats present, then I’ll point my finger at Republicans unconditionally.

  132. bilbogaggins says:

Using Studds as a straw man doesn’t pan out. Here’s the situation:

“Studds was a central figure in the 1983 Congressional page sex scandal, when he and Representative Dan Crane were censured by the House of Representatives for separate sexual relationships with minors — in Studds’ case, a 1973 sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male congressional page who was of the age of legal consent. The relationship was consensual (which made it legal, in accordance with state law) but presented ethical concerns relating to working relationships with subordinates.”

How is this different from Foley? Well, there was only one page and it was consensual. With Foley there were numerous pages and many found his advances objectionable. What Studds did was wrong and he was censured for it. What Foley did was also wrong and he doesn’t seem to be being held accountable.

Massachusetts voters are dumb because they forgave Studds for having a consensual relationship with someone who was of legal age. Perhaps they don’t care if a gay man has a relationship with a younger gay man.

On the other hand, Foley made sexual advances to underage pages without considering their sexuality and made a lot of them very uncomfortable and feeling threatened. I fail to see how the two situations are the same and I fail to see how the Massachusetts voters are dumb. They liked what he did for them as their congressman and the voted him back into office numerous times.

HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA, libs/progs! The Foley case which you spent so much time on blowing out of proportion for cheap and soulless political gain last year has now blown up in your dumb-looking mugs! This Foley case illustrates one, UNDENIABLE FACT: the ONLY child predator EVER to have served in the House was homosexual Demoncrat Gerry Studds who, in the 80s, was exposed for lewdly screwing a 17-year-old page (but depraved Dems still backed him)

The emails cannot be had because they are “congressional workpapers?” Who in the congress believes this? It’s really about keeping the executive out of the capitol. It’s less about doing the moral and right thing and seeing that Mr. Foley gets prosecuted if at all possible. Has anybody checked to see who the offended pages are? Talked to them or their parents? Gotten statements? Because, this is a guy who assumed his power as a member of congress could get what he wanted from these pages. It’s arrogance and it has taken over the entire congress. Maybe the IG or some other appropriate agency ought to investigate everyone in congress to see what else is going on. A proactive investigation where whoever does the spying will do it in representation of the people, because we have no representation!!

But there is a definite change in tone in the early morning Makarios vs. the late night Makarios… lots of caps, much more anger & vitriol, barely any intelligent repartee and statements like “I couldn’t care less” when asked about the death to American soldiers. I suggest the obvious… Makarios is just a conglomerate of Reptard stooges taking shifts at posting on TP.

  281. Jeremy says:

Mr. Pee’s deletions of posts on his blog doesn’t surprise me one bit. After all, he’s a scumbag that enjoys screwing over other people’s blogs and wielding an iron fist on his own. He’s a perfect example of ‘Do as I say, not as I do’….like your typical megachurch leader (Haggard), your typical chairman of the group that hunts down pedophiles while being a pedophile himself (Foley), and your typical troll (Mr. Pee and others). I.E. Like your typical neocon that has hijacked the Republican Party.

  283. cindy says:

which brings up another point, how is the government going to get paid if we significantly reduce oil consumption? the solar tax?

  284. cindy says:

May be you can explain to the dead soldiers’ families how you can be happy when Americans are dying.Comment by Probus — August 25, 2007

  285. upright left says:

Contact Nancy Pelosi and tell her to release Foley’s records. What are we trying to accomplish, if not transparency in government concerning the lead up to the war, no-bid contracts, etc., so why protect a sexual predator. Let the investigators examine His congressional computers.

Sounds like Foley might not be the only one who fears transparency. ;)
