Hume: Gonzales was ’simply a crony.’

Fox News’s Brit Hume today on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales:

Gonzales was a man almost without fans in Washington at the end, because he was never much appreciated or accepted by the conservative base of the Republican party and the conservative activists in Washington. And he certainly wasn’t popular among the Democrats. He was simply a crony. And I don’t mean that word to sound any worse than it is, but that was the case here.

Watch it:

Agreed. He’s still correct, Gonzalez was a crony. A criminal would have been a more fitting description.

Brit(tany) is quite correct, the white republican males in DC always looked down on the first Hispanic AG. They also knew he wasn’t very bright.

  16. Jackie says:

Brit needs his job and now with the White House going out quickly and Murdoch giving to the Clinton campaign look for more turn coats. Brit has lied from day one and even made up stories himself that were fake now he says his buddy Gonzales was nothing but a crony. Brit was up Gonzo’s butt for the past 6 years now what’s with the crony stuff. Brit would say George W. Bush is God if they told him to say it. Now who’s going to turn on Gonzo next.

  17. Snidely Whiplash says:

“Simply a crony” who had Bush’s full confidence and who was defended to the last breath by Rightards. Now, it’s “meh, we never really liked the little guy anyway.”

Please try and “make sense” when you post here, “Bob”. You only embarrass yourself w/ comments like this, and Lord knows, conservatives don’t need to embarrass themselves even more! ;-D!!!

Why does “making sense” hate America so??

Hey everybody, “Bob” is gonna treat the whole thread to Freedom Fries! It’s The Taste of Liberty On The March! Chow down while they’re pipin’ hot!!! Uh, “Bob”, don’t try to sneak out w/out payin’ the bill, like other CONS have.

  24. ct says:

Gonzalez is a new libtard. He should be deported.

  25. Snidely Whiplash says:

Thanks President Bush for keeping us safe from terrorist throughout your Presidency . . . oh, wait . . . weren’t you the one who allowed Osama bin Laden to fly jet airliners into the World Trade Center and The Pentagon — the worst terrorist attack EVER to occur on American soil . . . never mind.

Gonzo quits on Monday…that gives Bush[Cheney] 5 WHOLE DAYS for announcing his recess appointment!!! My guess is it will be Friday 4:59pm EDT.

  29. UpFromTheSkies says:

I’m surprised that Fox News didn’t put a big “D” by Gonzalez name today. How dare Mr. Gonzalez the Democrat have infested our White House. It’s not President Bush’s fault that a Democrat like Gonzalez brought such dishonor to Chimpland.

    Comment by ct — August 27, 2007 @ 5:45 pm

Folks, this is all they’ve got. Pathetic, dribbling down their legs, note the lopsided grin and drool.

  31. the fly-man says:

HOW utterly disingenuous. Conservatives should have absolutely no credibility for their tacit acceptance of ANY behavior coming from this White House in the last 6.756 years. Oh yeah, where were the Conservatives when Bush nominated him? Where were the Conservatives when he referred to the Geneva conventions as “Quaint”. The Conservatives should STFU and go back to faculty obscura where they and their inept, impotent, greed driven, worthless theories exist, in a Vacuum. Conservatives constantly changing their principles to meet the times. They had to suck the nipple of the GOP to survive and now they’re jumping ship like the political parasites they really are. They remind me of Plankton from Sponge Bob.

    Comment by RUCerious — August 27, 2007 @ 5:35 pm

Um, since you have no basis for saying this, then it’s obviously coming out of your head, not the white republican males in DC. Why are you making this charge?

  33. r says:

Must be a Republican Horn-Dog thread up, all the sanctimonious Libs are jumping ship.

  34. Cyrena says:

    Comment by Bob — August 27, 2007 @ 5:34 pm

Actually, I thought this was pretty hillarious. I can only say, if the shoe fits…or, the bon-bons are in reach, and Ophra is on the tube, there’s a strong chance that the booze isn’t far away. All the props of the alternative reality we’ve been subjected to these past 7 years.

Snidely Whiplash, I love your name!

  35. jurassicpork says:

Here’s my temporary take on it until I can respond more substantively to this. It’s an opus that I like to call, “Your Turn, Dick” (with a surprise cameo by Richard Viguerie).

It’s surprising to me that Viguerie so quickly turned on Gonzo as he did on Rove. In both cases, he’s saying, “Good riddance to bad rubbish” but for the wrong reasons.

  36. the fly-man says:

  37. Vice President Bush says:

And you are what… Britt? Why the long face?

  38. the fly-man says:

I can’t believe all the smoke being blown up everyone’s ass by the RWSM, rightwingscreechmachines, regarding Dear Leader’s selection of Torquemada Jr. It’s just pure distraction techniques to the simple question, Why did he resign? Not this horse shit a bout, he really wasn’t the favorite of Conservatives. The Conservatives stood by as this man sent the Gov. of alabama to the slammer, innocent people were tortured and the AUMF was portrayed as the end all power source. Kiss my Libtard, ass.

  39. r says:

I didn’t follow at first, but now I get it. I said Libs were sanctimonious in jujmping on the story about a Horn-Dog Republican.

Then you said the word “sanctimonious” defines conservatives to a T.

    Comment by the fly-man — August 27, 2007 @ 6:13 pm

So basically, your rebut is “I know you are, but what am I?”

    I can’t compete.

  40. AngryOne says:

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales may have his announced his resignation, but his wrongdoing – and his words – live on. Here are:
    “Alberto Gonzales’ Greatest Hits.”

  41. the fly-man says:

r, it’s true my retort is exactly back at ya. You have exhibited a classic tactic, by instantly defining your quarrelsome opponents in the phraseology best describing yourself. Go read Brit Hume’s comments and let the savory flavor and aroma of pure indifference satiate your predictably crass and self serving ass.

Thanks Lord Cornwallis, for keeping us safe from Continental Army attacks on our soil since 9/11

  44. mongo says:

    “He was simply a crony.”

    Takes one to know one.

  45. TerrytheTurtle says:

Come on, someone must be able to find the Fox News commentaries on Torquemada’s 2005 confirmation. I bet Brit ‘Bonehead’ Hume was more charitable then…

  46. jeb says:

Brit Hume is a moron. Boycott Fux news!

  47. theswan says:

Who told you to say that, brit? Down deep you really didn’t mean it. Some one made you say it, didn’t they brit?

  48. johnnyr says:

“I don’t mean that word to sound any worse than it is”

Bwahahahahahaha! The Fox News attempt at damage control. Hilarious and pathetic at the same time.

  49. opus says:

So, the Brit Hume’s of the world spew words about it being the Dems fault for – egads! – expecting our AG to be above the law and open to scrutiny, but when Fredo exits, he is now only a crony, and oh well, was never popular with the righties so in some twisted way, they are taking credit. It’s amazing how these guys are wired.

  50. Jockamo! says:

Does this guy ALWAYS look like he’s got a Cadillac shoved up his ass?
