Tucker: I assaulted a man who ‘bothered’ me in a bathroom.»

Yesterday on MSNBC, Tucker Carlson said “it’s really common” that men accost one another in mens’ rooms, much like Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) is alleged to have done to a plainclothed cop. Carlson said, “I’ve been bothered in Georgetown Park,” in Washington, D.C., “when I was in high school.” When asked how he responded to being “bothered,” Carlson asserted, “I went back with someone I knew and grabbed the guy by the — you know, and grabbed him, and … hit him against the stall with his head, actually.” Watch it:

UPDATE: Tucker responds:

Let me be clear about an incident I referred to on MSNBC last night: In the mid-1980s, while I was a high school student, a man physically grabbed me in a men’s room in Washington, DC. I yelled, pulled away from him and ran out of the room. Twenty-five minutes later, a friend of mine and I returned to the men’s room. The man was still there, presumably waiting to do to someone else what he had done to me. My friend and I seized the man and held him until a security guard arrived.

Several bloggers have characterized this is a sort of gay bashing. That’s absurd, and an insult to anybody who has fought back against an unsolicited sexual attack. I wasn’t angry with the man because he was gay. I was angry because he assaulted me.

  1. GSD Says:

Oh, the Repubes are reduced to proving their machismo by fabricating wonderous tales of brave assaults on mysterious restroom creeps.

The important question is, did the Restroom Republican that Tucker assault press charges?

  2. Cappy Says:

    Tucker Carlson is sooooo gay.

  3. LosingFaith Says:

“much like Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) is alleged to have done”

Why is this being reported as “alleged”? He was charged. He plead guilty. No more allegation involved. It’s a done deal. I see other news outlets using this terminology too and it’s rather annoying.

  4. John Says:

as said previously, Tucker is sooooooo gay. not that there is anything wrong with that.

  5. Bob Says:

    Damn another HOMO story 24/7

  6. Chitown Says:

Oh, please! I agree with #2….Tucker Carlson is a pansy.

  7. marlow Says:

” I went back with someone I knew”??? And when he was done fighting on your behalf, didja reward him with a nice frosty bj?

  8. Bob Says:

    John is sooo heterosexual..

    Nothing wrong with that.

  9. Trizza Says:

This guy is such a joke. He had to go get help. What a wuss! Now I understand why he gave up the bowtie.

  10. Hellinabucket Says:

Why did Tucker feel the need to state his machoism at this time? Didn’t Craig shout out that it wasn’t him during the page sex scandal even though nobody accused him?

  11. MythicJustice Says:

I just wish woman would do this to men then too, so they can partake of this helpful violence. Maybe men would stop inappropriately hitting on woman.

  12. MythicJustice Says:

    Woops. Posting removed my tag

  13. Raven Says:

Sure sounds like Carlson was making this up on the fly…

First he goes back “with someone he knows”
(who, the captain of the football team, or some other schoolyard bully?)

Then beats the guy up, then “the cops come and arrest the guy”
Excuse me, but whomever does the beating usually gets arrested…

What really happened was probably more like someone took his bowtie and flushed it down the toilet, and Tucker went running to tell the teacher.

  14. dim wit Says:

I couldn’t believe this to be true. Tucker is such a little nincompoop that I would never believe he could beat up anyone.
Then I re-read it and realized Tucker had to go get one of his gay-bashing friends to help beat this guy up.
    What a tough guy.

  15. MythicJustice Says:

Arggghhh. lol. *blush* my post was sarcastic and it removed my sarcasm tag (even if you add extra spaces in it)

  16. Krazny Says:

I have sincere doubts about Carlson confronting somone in a bathroom. Course I have sincere doubts that he is “tough” so whatever.

  17. Damian Says:

Oooooooh, you big brute, Tucker! [”I went back with someone I knew…].

Assaulted dude’s pole with your mouth is more like it, Tucker.

  18. Starve-A-Bush_Feed-A-Beaver Says:

He grabbed the guy by the what? What was the body part Tucker grabbed but couldn’t bring himself to say? It’s obvious that Tucker likes rough bathroom sex, preferably with three people or more.

  19. stanky Says:

    grabbed him by the what?

    oh, tucker.. .you man #*%*$

  20. Ben B Says:

By the way, I’m pretty sure assault is a far worse crime than disorderly conduct relating to sex in a public bathroom. What Tucker claims to have done is a lot like shooting at someone for trespassing on his yard.

Seriously, oh no, some guy came on to you in a bathroom. Decline and move on. Maybe let a security guy know about it so they can handle it. Don’t assault the guy.

  21. Raven Says:

and to look at him, I’m guessing they didn’t take the tie off before flushing.

  22. nwyman Says:

So Tucker admits to gay bashing? Figures…

  25. troqua Says:

Oh, Tucker, you naughty, bad boy. Nasty, naughty, bad boy.

  26. WhydidblacksvoteNaginbackin? Says:

Tucker Carlson actually proved his manhood with this incident, and his manhood was in serious doubt after his long tenure on the libtard-succumbing CNN and the even more radically leftarded MSNBC (Olbermann, Matthews). Despite his questionable status as a Republican, Carlson still has more machismo and testosterone in his little pinky finger than any liberal girlie-man prowling and lurking on these boards here. Carlson embodied the conservative response to someone attempting to sexually harass you: fight back and make sure that trespasser gets the message and doesn’t dare attempt it again. The progressive/liberal response to being accosted by a homosexual in a bathroom would be to 1) find out what his feelings are and where he’s coming from 2) empathize with the homosexual because he’s a “victim” of white, conservative, Christian society 3) bend over and let the homosexual penetrate him, and 4) bask in the afterglow of being sodomized.

  27. Jack Says:

Tucker doth protest too much. I guess he took his boyfriend back with him to assault the guy.

  28. Master Shake Says:

Even in his fantasy world he needed a buddy to help him kick ass.

  29. troqua Says:

Wow, someone’s cranky. So to speak.

  30. Robert Says:

Tucker: So what if I was a 12th Grader and the other guy was a 3rd grader visiting his brother? :-)

    ____________________

A most interesting comment, Hellinabucket. You do have to wonder why Tucker volunteered that info. And on the Dan Abrams show, Tucker quickly stated, like Senator Craig, that he wasn’t gay. In fact, he repeated it several times. Why the need to say that?

  32. joe cantwell Says:

poor guy was collecting for the “romney for president” campaign and tucker slugs him?!

  33. michael Says:

Carlson fights as well as he dances. Why don’t these guys just admit they are gay and they can go on to live better lives?

  34. Krazny Says:

Tucker Carlson actually proved his manhood…

Tucker Carlson and manhood in one sentence. Nuff said.

  35. Joel Says:

HAHA, the bow tie guy is TOUGH!

  36. michael Says:

    Hey Whydidblacks!

Let me have your wife or girlfriend for one night and she can tell you what a liberal girlie man I am.

You must be one of those “city dwellers” or “flat landers” where I live trespassing on one’s property is not tolerated. Respect is both given and expected. Deviant sexual acts falls under the same category and will be met with the same reaction.

  38. DM Says:

It’s so true. Tucker is so so so so incredibly gay.

  39. George Says:

We already know that Republicans are violent people.

Their answer to most foreign policy problems usually involves inflicting some form of violence.

Not to mention the death penalty.

    Nothing new here.

    Keep moving.

  40. Britisher Says:

So according to Tucker, Craig, as a NOT GAY, should have assaulted his “botherer” ?
I got hit-on a few times by gay men when I lived in Chelsea, Manhattan–I’f just thank them for their efforts and tell them to check their own gaydar, they could be seriously hurt.

  41. "Wide Stance" Peterson Says:

Yeah, me too, often I go to public rest to beat up guys who come on to me.

  42. powkat Says:

As with men who don’t want to have gay soldiers because they worry that someone will ‘come on to them’ I believe I speak for all women when I say, “Welcome to my world.”

  43. theswan Says:

Tucker, your a wimp and full of shit.

  44. Jackie Says:

Tucker has just allowed the world to know he’s gay. He should have kept his mouth shut because he might have been able to stay in the closet. Senator Craig married a woman with children to keep his secret. Like Justice Roberts did to be so called clean. This has been going on to keep the political secrets. Religious Right like to see a man/woman married with children.
It’s a good front. Senator Craig hid behind the kids knowing he was into men. Justice Roberts vacationing getting sick returning to vacation site never do we see wife and kids. Their brought out for photo ops only.
The GOP group are full of sinners using God’s name to get elected. Now if you don’t know Justice Alito is gay then your blind, he can’t hide it.

I really don’t see the problem but lying and secrets really aren’t necessary the truth works.

  45. Tobey Tall Says:

Tucker is like a man who wears wellington boots in a swamp

both get sucked off in the bogs

  46. Bil Biloxi Says:

Oh, for crying out loud! What a crock fromTucker. Tucker is so desperate for 15 minute of fame in the spotlight to raise his ratings from the dead that he would grab onto the Brokeback Craig news story. Worst lie of a storytelling from the worst dancer.

  47. missmolly Says:

I guess this is my moment to be grateful I’m a woman, because I am provided relatively safe places to go relieve myself.

In my many years of using public restrooms, I have never been propositioned by another woman. I guess lesbians find classier places to meet people. But even if I was “invited” to engage in lewd conduct with another woman, declining that invitation would be less scary to me than being in the same restroom as somebody responding with violence to such an invitation.

  48. missmolly Says:

As with men who don’t want to have gay soldiers because they worry that someone will ‘come on to them’ I believe I speak for all women when I say, “Welcome to my world.”

  49. Deniz Yeter Says:

Wait, so he grabbed him by the johnson? I guess we have another candidate for Closet Republican Homosexual.

We won’t judge you Tucker, we don’t like you anyways, whether or not you’re gay.

  50. Jack Says:

I don’t know what airports Tucker frequents, but in 35 years of flying, with several 5 to 6 year stretches of 100K+ miles/year, I’ve never once been ‘bothered’ in an airport men’s room. There must be something so touching and vulnerable about the Tuck that he attracts other men’s attention. I wonder if it was the bow-tie….

  51. Rick Says:

There’s no way Tucker is gay. He can’t dance and he spent the entire time on that dance show looking at his partner’s boobs. I’d be more ready to believe that he hasn’t been laid since Clinton was in office.

  52. bilbobaggins Says:

“Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) is alleged to have done”

TP, what’s up with the “alleged”? He plead guilty. This site is starting to look like Faux Noise.

Don’t you remember Jeff Gannon, and Haggard? Sorry, but gay republicans can’t dance… Or think… Or admit that they’re f*c*ed up!

  54. RUCerious Says:

Hey, the guy insulted tucker’s bow tie. Now them’s fightin words!

#26 - You need to read the post before you comment. Tucker ran off and got someone else to fight his battle for him. Oh, wait, never mind. That is the conservative response.

  57. Bob Day Says:

RNC=REPUBLICANS IN THE CLOSET AND TUCKER IS ONE OF THEM!

  58. oldtree Says:

Tucker is trying to pretend he is hetero? again? Who is he trying to convince now? sounds like someone, much like the “ida ho”, denying something before the charge comes out?

  59. Starve-A-Bush_Feed-A-Beaver Says:

The real reason Tucker assaulted the guy in the restroom is because he said something mean about Barbara Streisand.

  60. dlet Says:

Tucker: I assaulted a man who ‘bothered’ me in a bathroom.

If by “assault” he means he head butted him below the belt and made him hemorrage until puss came out then yeah it was “assault”.

  61. Larry Craig Says:

who could blame the guy for hitting on Tucker? He’s cute beyond words.

  62. Peter C Says:

I’m afraid we’re gonna hear a lot of this “It’s really common” meme. Of course it is completely unverifiable and based upon pathetically thin anecdotal evidence, but Republicans love “proof by example”. They also would love to put the ‘fear of being accosted by homosexuals in public restrooms’ into the minds of the American public.

It’s never happened to me, but I don’t hang around Republican congressmen very much.

  63. Conservatives Hate America Says:

How rich. Tucker is the biggest flaming queer on tv, if you hadn’t noticed already.

  64. tarazan Says:

And that’s where Tucker lost his ‘bow tie’, flushed down the commode.

  65. Mr. Evil Says:

Tucker ran from the perv in the restroom to the safety of his friend waiting nearby. Then Tucker convinced his friend that justice must be done! The friend agreed to rush back to the restroom where, to their amazement, the perv was still there. Tucker looked to his friend who looked back with a leer as if to silently say, “I got your back on this one.” Tucker then bolted into action! With a swoop and a twirl, simultaneously removing his bowtie from his collar, he slashed and pounced upon the perv. Tucker wielded his super-slicing bowtie with a samarai’s precision and subdued the perv.
Tucker, the modest he-man that he is returned his bowtie to his collar, tied a perfect knot and exited the restroom with his anonymous friend and resumed his life as Tucker Carlson, mild-mannered, average American super-hero.

  66. Arn Gunnutes Says:

Actually, Tucker STOMPED HIS FOOT and called them a “big brute”.

    Then yelled “Daddy”!!!

  67. tarazan Says:

May be the guy couldn’t ‘tuck his shirt’…that’s when ‘Tucker’ came handy.

  68. troll alert Says:

I heard Tuck. tell the story.

  69. Grand Moff Texan Says:

    .

  70. katy Says:

huh… hey tucker… that’s a different story than you told
    ed schultz earlier today…

i could be mistaken, but tucker left out those details…
he did make it clear that HE, tucker, was not hurt at all…

    huh…

  71. Texas Democrat Says:

Lets see, he pled guilty, what is there to talk about? No do-overs. those of us (the peons) don’t get do-overs, we get jail time.

  75. WaltinTexas Says:

Grabbed his, “you know”? His little bow tie???

  76. AnacherForester Says:

Way to go proving you’re butch Tucker darling. So many of these conservatives seem so homophobic and/or so deep in the closet that they’d attack a guy within 20 feet of a men’s room for asking what time it was.

Sounds like Tucker stressed. Maybe he should get a massage? I’m sure some of his friends could recommend a pair of strong hands.

    AF

  77. david Says:

“Despite his questionable status as a Republican, Carlson still has more machismo and testosterone in his little pinky finger than any liberal girlie-man prowling and lurking on these boards here.”

Yeah, how much do you bench?

  78. Jackie Says:

Tuckers Dad must have paid out alot to keep that family secret that his son is gay. Yes it’s old school to get married have kids to cover up the truth. But Tucker went to a male friend so the word would go out that he beat up a gay guy. Now the story sounds nice that a closet gay Tucker committed an assault on a man but was never charged. How much did that cost Daddy to cover up that charge and how much did Daddy have to pay the gay guy his queer son beat up.
Someone should have yelled ” Girl Fight in the men’s room.

  79. LividLib Says:

Tuck, why is your mouth open like that?

  80. Joe in SF Says:

I live in San Francisco’s Castro district. I’m always amazed at how many straight men think that gays are constantly coming on to them when they come to this part of town.

Uh, guys, maybe you’re a little overly nervous.

  81. Damian Says:

Tucker, it’s time to check into rehab and find Jesus for your cure. We hear yah. Got the message.

  82. Loop Says:

It seems like there would be a record of this “incident”.

  83. detroitsuperfly Says:

and then Tucker woke up in puddle of his own urine with his bow tie tied around his testicles.

  84. MythicJustice Says:

Yeah, how much do you bench?
    Comment by david — August 29, 2007 @ 4:22 pm

hahahahaaa. Like that has anything to do with masculinity. And, you do know that many gay guys are total gym addicts and lift far more than you (even what you weigh!).

I’m so tired of men trying to either “prove” they are men. It seems many men have a strange misconception that in order to prove their manliness they must show how they are NOT anything like a child or a woman. As if a man wouldn’t be a man if he had feminine or pre-adolescent characteristics. So funny how fragile some male egos/identities are.

  85. Praedor Atrebates Says:

What a tough guy that pencil-neck is! What he has done with that teenage-ish homophobic nonsense is guarantee that if I am EVER in a public restroom and Tucker comes in, I AM going to “bother him” to see if he wants to try and take me on.

And I’m not even gay (not that there’s anything wrong with that), but shit, that crapola will guarantee that I WILL act…flamboyant…just for him.

    What a f*cking idiot.

So is his defense the “Gay Panic” defense?

  86. Raven Says:

“Yeah, how much do you bench?”

Tucker, that bit is so copyrighted:

    HITCHHIKER

Stood by the side of the road
    And leveled his thumb
In the calm calculus of reason

Hi. How you doin’? I just got back into town. L.A.
I was out on the desert for awhile.
    Riders on the storm
Yeah. In the middle of it.
    Riders on the storm
    Right . . .
    Into this house we’re born
Hey, listen, man, I really got a problem.
    Into this world we’re thrown
When I was out on the desert, ya know,
Like a dig without a bone
    An actor out on loan
I don’t know how to tell you,
    Riders on the storm
    but, ah, I killed somebody.
There’s a killer on the road
    No . . .
His brain is squirming like a toad
It’s no big deal, ya know,
I don’t think anybody will find out about it, but . . .
    Take a long holiday
    just, ah . . .
    Let your children play
this guy gave me a ride, and ah . . .
If you give this man a ride
started giving me a lot of trouble,
    Sweet family will die
and I just couldn’t take it, ya know?
    Killer on the road
    And I wasted him.
    Yeah.

  88. Technodaoist Says:

    Wow.

    Seriously?

Tucker? Which is more believeable… You got approached for homosexual relations or your tough-guy facade…?

I mean, why would you even SAY that????

  89. LividLib Says:

When asked how he responded to being “bothered,” Carlson asserted, “I cried an wet myself, actually.”

  90. Bil Biloxi Says:

Bad move by Tucker. He just opened that door for the media and public to form an opinion that Tucker got some sugar in his tank. He should have kept his mouth shut on Twinkletoes Craig’s lovetap indiscretion. Now his colleagues at MSNBC might smell some brokeback in Tucker.

  91. txexspeedy Says:

what does bothered mean? Was he felt up, was he grabbed, was he propositioned, did someone look at him funny, or did he do something he felt ashamed of and to get someone else to beat the crap out the of guy to rid him of his guilt.

When I was in Washington as teenager I went with some friends to a Rated X Video place. (We were from rural Texas) We did not know that the peep shows were really a hook up place for homosexual activity. But the clerk’s “anti-gaydar” went off and when we asked for change he told us “You don’t want to see those shows they’re gay shows” and being homophobic teenagers we left.

I’m just saying why did the guy “bother” Tucker. Did he sense something that we all sense about Tucker now.

  93. OutSourced Says:

I expect we should hear of Mr. Carlson’s indictment by the local district attorney in due course. About when Mr. Carlson is giving lessons in “self-defense” to Congressional pages. What an empty boy-man, like the president. Giving up of the bow tie hasn’t made him look older; just lost and homesick.

  94. Franco Says:

It is time that Tucker be FIRED….He is an idiot…I think it is time someone investigated the arrest that he CLAIMS happened………
He is a jerk and a gay-basher….If someone does something like he claims happened to him you get the police you don’t bash them and BRAG about it…….FIRE TUCKER CARLSON

  95. muck Says:

Sure you did, Tucker. Sure you did. Grabbed him by the what again? Not with your hand, me thinks. I was told once by someone from the prior generation to me that they used to do that. They called it ‘fag-bashing.’ I do believe that means Tucker is proud of being a ‘fag-basher,’ right up there on the list under lynch mobs hanging blacks. At least now its no secret what a prejudiced punk you are. Not like you couldnt just decline, discount it as flattery, and move on.

I dont think Tucker could fight his way out of a bathroom stall.

  96. dbadass Says:

Damn I must be one unpleasant looking dude. This shit never happens to me. Well there was that one time in Uttica…. Tucker is silly

  97. The Republic of Stupidity Says:

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

    That IS funny!

  98. Tired Of Fighting Says:

I really would like to see what this “guy” that Tucker says he “assaulted” looks like. He has got to be weak as hell.

  99. James Saville Row Says:

Another troglodyte GOPr that should have his you-know-what shoved his umentionable and told to: “Go sit and face the corner and shut the blank up, Tucker!”

You seem well versed in that procedure.

  101. Adam Selene Says:

What? He hit the “head” against the stall after it popped out of his mouth!? Ouch! Slow and gentle, TC, slow and gentle…Atta boy…

  102. ForTruth Says:

He seems a bit overly zealous to make sure no-one mistakes him for being gay.

  103. BARTLEBEE Says:

Tucker made that whole scene up. I imagine Tucker being the pretty boy he is gets bothered in mens rooms all the time, and was too afraid to admit it, so when he said it happened to him, and the other guy asked when, he just made up that story.

    Watch. It’ll come out.

  104. lano Says:

Carlson I bet you did “knock his head” against the stall.
Im tired of everybody on the repub side saying I don’t dislike gays but then they vote to not ban hate crime laws. This is what he gets, and just for the record craig I hate to be the the to tell you but you gay”not like theres nothing wrong with that”.

  105. Jackie Says:

Tucker is getting deeper in this lie. The more he talks the more he sounds and acts like he’s hiding something. It’s ok we know he’s gay and his Daddy protected his secret as most do. The marriage was a front like most did in the past. Justice Roberts got married and adopted kids as a front and cover. Look Alito is out right gay with no problem. Yes he pushes his wife and kids to make people believe other wise. This trick has been the history of how man or woman use family values to cover up their reality. Many have done it before and many will do it in the future. When the US will treat all people as equal this will continue.

  106. gummitch Says:

I took Tucker 25 minutes to find the biggest guy in his school who would actually talk to him, or it took him 25 minutes to raise enough money to bribe someone from his school to go into the restroom and punch someone out. IF, of course, it ever happened.

What interests me most is Tucker’s assertion that “it’s really common” to be accosted in the men’s room. I may not be as cute as Tucker, but I can safely say that in 58 years of visiting men’s rooms, I’ve never been accosted. If he stayed out of the men’s rooms in gay bars, it might happen less often.

I totally believe him. It is always the sexually anxious that lash out in violence when their masculinity is questioned. And they always do it by enlisting a mob to help them.

That is all right, Tucker. A few years of counseling and you will be able to forgive yourself. You might even be able to start wearing bowties again.

  108. Anne Says:

Here’s the “High School” Tucky attended.

  109. CD Says:

Sounds like tucker was a minor, was getting molested, and fought back.

  110. joe cantwell Says:

but it wasn’t a man, man. it was ann coulter!

  111. dixie blood Says:

My friend’s gaydar pings into the the red with this Tucker phuck.

CLUE: You can’t comb your hair like that without sending out “signals,” if you know what I mean.

  112. BARTLEBEE Says:

This never happened. I saw this on TV last night when Tucker said it. I never watch Tucker, but they were busy bashing Craig, so I left it on for a few minutes. When Tucker said that, I could see the story assembling in his head as he said it.

I don’t believe him. Not the way he presented it. “I slammed his head into the wall”.

Sure you did Tucker. Just before you cried out “harder”.

    :o

  113. Jeffrey Stewart Says:

You really can’t blame the guy for thinking Tucker was gay. I mean doesn’t everybody think Tucker is gay, even if he is married?

  114. Trizza Says:

Tucker Carlson…..you’re a liar! I thought you grabbed him and roughed him up as you claimed. Now you say you just held him down until security arrived. Get your lie straight please!

  115. BARTLEBEE Says:

I told you he was making it up Trizz. You see it too. He fabricated that story in his head as he was saying it. You can see it. Watch the video again. He was clearly growing uncomfortable as the discussion progressed.

    He made that up.

  116. Bruno Hauptmann Says:

Perhaps we need a Republican Registry so that decent folks can check to see where the wingnuts are who may live close to them and can check on their kids when they go to the restroom, or walk to school, or play in the yard.

  117. Praedor Atrebates Says:

You really can’t blame the guy for thinking Tucker was gay. I mean doesn’t everybody think Tucker is gay, even if he is married?

That has been my assumption. I begin to believe that my assumption was wrong in its foundation…perhaps I should just assume all GOPers are gay until it is clear that it is otherwise…not that there’s anything wrong with that.

It is certainly a safe bet to assume that any that howl the loudest and most vociferously against “the gay” is, de facto, gay. THAT is an assumption I will never lose.

  118. ongre08 Says:

this guy must have lead a very tormented life. not being true to his identity and sexuality. the denial must be excruciating.
now he has no friends look at the republicans running from him and the gay people rightfully despise his hypocrisy.

    It must really hurt.

  119. Anon Says:

I applaud Think Progress for adding the update from Tucker Carlson. It’s a fair, and dare I say balanced, view of this.

  120. Praedor Atrebates Says:

Somewhat in defense of poor Tucker, when I was a teenager/high schooler the attitude then WAS of the kind expressed by Tucker, and that includes MY then attitude and “thinking”. Now this is where the defense of Tucker comes to an abrupt end. I would never EVER think to bring up my teenager idiocy and immaturity in a strange sort of defense, nor as a means of lashing out, at gays today. I have grown way past that ridiculousness.

I guess people like Carl never did grow past that shit.

  121. Raven Says:

Carlson: “In the mid-1980s, while I was a high school student, a man physically grabbed me in a men’s room in Washington, DC.”

Anyone we know? Who might still be in Washington, DC?
    Just curious, Tucker…

  122. Michael Says:

    Here’s Tucker and his “friend.”

    Link

  123. CD Says:

Sounds like Tucker was a minor, was getting molested, and fought back.

No one here thinks it’s ok for a man to fondle kids in public bathroom right?

  124. Raven Says:

Carlson: “I can’t bring my son to the men’s room at the park where he plays soccer because of all these creepy guys hanging around in there.”

These would be your fellow “soccer dads” I presume?

  125. Impressed by ari Says:

you know tucker has taken a hard one up the ass. you don’t start wearing a bowtie for no reason at all. the bowtie was a message to all gays “my ass is open, pile on”.

  126. Impressed by ari Says:

it’s amazing how much cock repubs suck

  127. Keith Gore Wiseman Says:

I love it that Tucker is wearing more makeup in that video than most drag queens use. What could be more queer than a bow tie? (A national “news”-caster has the same trademark as Pee Wee Herman - you can’t make this stuff up!)

  128. Keith Gore Wiseman Says:

Tucker, you lie as bad as Gonzo. You left the bathroom, came back with a friend, bashed the man’s head against the wall and held him until a security guard could be called.

Why didn’t you leave the bathroom and call the security guard?

You’re a gay basher, a closet case and a liar. Worst of all, you’re a Republican.

  129. Sean Says:

If you are attacking Tucker for his comments, then I think it’s a little silly. Tucker’s position is understandable. Stop hating for the sake of hate. Focus on the real problem, and stop grouping people together. Believe it or not, not ALL Republicans are gay bashers.

I normally enjoy ThinkProgress, but I disagree with the decision to make this a blog entry. Tucker is correct in this instance.

    ~Sean

  130. CD Says:

No one here thinks it’s ok for a man to fondle kids in public bathroom right?

  131. JSAer24 Says:

I find it interesting that Tucker claims that he in NOT a homophobe, and yet after being assaulted in a public restroom by a man older than him he gets away and does not go to find the nearest policeman, he does not go to his parents, or any other authority figure nor is he just relieved he escaped…no, no, no…HE GOES BACK!…with the intention of taking the law into his own hands to ASSAULT the man with violence!!!

Two wrongs DO NOT make a right.

  132. Bodhittsatva Says:

    Hey fu(k you Bow-bravado man.
The Left needs to embrace Craig, and show that a travesty of justice has been promulgated by overzealous police, who have entrapped him. DO NOT LET THIS STORY GO. The GOP wants him out to keep the scandals low (almost impossible to do, but with Rupert the windbag they are trying to buy every media outlet alive) but we need to crank up the volume over what happened in the bathroom. We also need to let him (Craig), and other “in the closet” GOPers know that we got their back. I hear the sound of squeaking closet doors all over Redstate USA.

And remember, this gay GOP thing has been going on for years.

Was supposed to be bowtie Bravado man.

  134. Chris Says:

gays can’t keep their hands off of kids

  135. G Whiz Says:

Not buying it, Tucker. It’s the gaydar thing…you’ve got gay.

And Scarhead just had to bring up Clinton.

This is exactly the issue the ‘cons want us to focus on, while the Middle East comes to a boil.

  136. old hack Says:

being a person who frequently goes to the gayest city on earth I can attest for their being some pretty odd behavior in their some times. makes it hard to pee.

  137. Skiddlybop Says:

Let’s not forget, Little Tucker Carlson also laughed, repeatedly, at a little girl whose family dared to sue company over a a swimming-pool pump that almost killed her.

  138. James B Says:

Good for Tucker. People only feel comfortable assaulting others when there is no threat of a violent response. If this were a supposed case where a woman was assaulted by a man in a restroom and kicked him in the nuts in response, we’d all be cheering her. Sometimes a good ass whooping does solve a few minor problems.

  139. J2 Says:

Sorry, but I don’t get it… Are we saying that it’s alright for gay men to proposition straight men in a restroom, and then physically touch them? If a woman was accosted by a man wanting sex from her, and he physically touched her, this board would cheer for her if she slapped him unconscious, but a man is supposed to take such physical advances with what …. a smile and thank you? I’m frankly appauled by the idea that those who populate this board, with whom I mostly ideologically agree, would support and promote this kind of behavior. Anonymous bathroom sex is nothing for the gay community to be proud of, folks. It’s crude, and in a case like Carlson’s, it constitutes blatant sexual harassment.

  140. Dr. S Says:

    Se llama “damage control.”

  141. LividLib Says:

    relax, tuck!
the guy was just a recruiter for Young Republicans

  142. JSAer24 Says:

    To #139

For me, at least, it’s not endorsing the behavior that happened in the bathroom that is in question here. NO PERSON should assault another person either sexually or violently. It is the response that is in question. As I stated before it is odd that he (as a 12th grader) would not tell a person of authority, so that his attacker could be punished under our system of laws, but grab a friend (guess he could not rustle up a good mob) and GO BACK with the intention to take the law into their own hands and beat this guy. It is scary that the right both condone vigilante behavior and are against gun control…Welcome to the Wild, Wild, West.

  143. JefferyK Says:

Going back to assault someone, 25 minutes later? Hmm.

  144. Jamesb Says:

    to # 142,

First off, it isn’t clear exactly what age we’re discussing here. You can say 12th grade, but “high school” in most states can constitute anyone in 9th through 12th grade, so while you can theorize that we’re discussing a legal-adult-aged high school senior, we could also just as easily be discussing a 14 year old boy. Does it make a difference if we’re talking about an 18 year old man as opposed to a 14 year old boy? Is it more acceptable to accost one versus the other?

Second, in the update above it is explicitly stated that they went back and held the man until authorities arrived. This is appropriate behavior no matter how overly macho it is characterized in the retelling.

Finally, we live in a civil society only as long as people respect the mutual civility we extend to one another. Once that compact is broken, all bets are off. Our laws exist only to remedy wrongs that have already occurred, so while you can believe that the legal system offers protection from vigilante justice, it doesn’t. All it offers you is a possible recourse after the fact.

Realizing that someone can still punch you in the face when you do something inappropriate to them is a much stronger social deterrent then any threat of legal recourse and if that fear of retaliation reminds people to act civil towards one another, it’s a good thing for everyone.

  145. Thomas Mc Says:

Give it up, Tucker. Nobody has EVER considered the possibility that you might be straight. And all this macho posturing only reinforces it. Repeat after Larry Craig, “I am not gay.”

  146. Sandiegodan Says:

Who is that Tough Tucker “went back with” to beat the man up? Tucker should produce this “person” so the event can be investigated and corroborated. Perhaps the victim will come forward.

  147. c currey Says:

Tucker Carlson is full of bull IMO. I have been on the Earth 55 years and have never been sexually approached in any public bathroom. Hell, men hardly even talk in bathrooms. During high school the men’s bathrooms were where boys fought and settled grievances, mostly over girls and not a place to get sex.

Tucker Carlson is so full of it, it stinks. What he finds ‘common’ in men’s room is more likely in his own creepy mind than reality. Most likely gay bathroom sex is confined to [re]publican closeted bisexuals, e.g. the [re]publican Senator from Idaho (Tucker Carlson?) et. al.

  148. Parrotlover77 Says:

I haven’t travelled a whole lot, I admit, but I’ve been around some and I’ve never run into a public bathroom rapant with men trying to solicite sex from me (or anybody else for that matter). Why does this all just sound like some kind of projection thing that only repressed log cabin republicans run into, because, well, they are gay (or bi) and don’t want to admit it?

  149. CD Says:

It’s sad to see how many people can’t figure out that Tucker was victimized because they disagree with him politicaly.
