It doesn't strike you as odd that you had to go back at least to the 90s and mostly to the 70s in order to come up with a list of Democratic sex scandals? Do you even know that this is the 21st Century?

As for the framers, the constitution is fine and dandy, it makes it damn near impossible for the idiot masses to have a direct say in the goings on of the Nation.

Read Machiavelli’s The Discourses to see why!!!

As long as records have been kept (87 years) whenever we go from Republican to Democratic, the job growth rate improves, and whenever we go from Democratic to Republican, the job growth rate worsens.

And please don't act like I am not capable of thinking of things I could easily think of forty years ago. It is an insult.

BTW - check that graph against GNP/GDP and population. You will get interesting results. That is a spin graph. Yea, the deficit increased under just about every President in the past 150 years, deficit spending seems to be a way of life here. Look at the credit card debt and the sub prime mortgage market? It is ingrained in our culture.

And yet - we have one of the fast growing economies in history (in spite of a current housing/mortgage buble), we have employement rates of 96% - something just doesn't add up does it.

Were Reagan's record deficits and GHWBush's record deficits and GWBush's record deficits smoke and mirrors, too? You are just spinning so you can say Clinton did nothing good and the Republicans did nothing wrong.

I have a graph of deficits/surpluses going from JFK to today and the difference is amazing.

First 200 years of USA, ending in 1981, equaled $0.9 trillion. After twelve years of Reagan and Bush, it equaled $4.1 trillion.

BTW, we have had huge spending the last 6 years by so called conservatives - which means they are all bullshit artists. I give low ratings to the GOP for abandoning their conservative fiscal principles. Why do you think Bush's rating is so low - and especially congress? It's not just the liberals that are pissed.

BTW, Regan's spending was mostly military - basically he outspent the Russians and they collapsed under their own economic system. Given that we spend (and during Regan this was close) around 10% of our GNP on Military - and the Russians of that day (socialists as they were ) were spending upwards of 90% of their GNP on Military - we simply out spent them - and built better technology (private sector development tends to work that way).
So yes there was a build up (spending) during Regan but mostly on Military and defense technology.

A little history lesson on the 90's and Clinton's so called surplus.
During the savings and loan debacle of the 80's the government ended up with billions in assets of failed savings and loan banks. 100's of billions of dollars.

During the 90's the Resolution Trust Corporation sold off most of these assets and the dollars brought in inflated the "revenue" side of the US books making a surplus possible. Smoke and mirrors #1.

During the 90's and the media blowout of the dot bomb business, mom and pop were sold a bill of goods to invest and invest and invest in these vaporware companies. The true villains, the banks of Wall Street, jumped around building wealth with no check and balance from the Clinton led government.

So with over 1 trillion$$ pumped into these companies, who quickly turned around and spent the money buidling their phony companies, the economy was artificially inflated - both with material goods (Cisco, Microsoft, etc.) and jobs (very tom dick and mary was a C level executive in the 90's earning from this false wealth) - and of course they paid taxes - more fake money added to the US balance sheet - smoke and mirror #2.

Clinton basically did nothing - nothing to stop the banks, nothing to really help the economy. He just rode the wave of this bubble and you guys still buy that he somehow came close to balancing the budget. Not true.

#178 Your theory does not fit the facts. Congress didn't become more liberal going from Carter to Reagan. The increase in spending under Reagan was not on liberal spending. Democrats were in control under Clinton's first budget which cut the deficit in half.

Congress didn't become more liberal going from Clinton to GWBush. We have not had liberal spending the last six years. Your talking points just do not fit reality.

I swear, I have heard what you are saying a thousand times and it just does not add up.

It is still a fact that 65% of Americans want what every other developed country in the world has: universal, single-payer government-run healthcare. The rest of the developed work is a lot more satisfied with their healthcare than Americans. And it is far, far cheaper. And there is noone without healthcare.

Medicare works very well and the administrative costs are 2% instead of the private sector”s 15-25%.

Consumer Reports said we would save $250 billion each and every year administratively-alone by switching to what every other developed country has. And it would save 18,000 lives every year.

Comment by Keith — August 30, 2007 @ 6:38 pm

Not much of a reader are you, eh?

You haven't read up on the French papers trashing their healthcare system, eh?

while they say that yes, everyone in France is covered, the years long lines to get medical procedures done and the government interfering in ones private medical life.

This is what I dont' get about Liberals.

They claim that we need more privacy and how dare the Bush administration get into people's private life.

But these same Liberals have ZERO problem having the government get into their most private part of their life, their medical history.

You are right about the Bush republicans on this. The liberals want the illegals for the votes and yes they do vote in many of our cities regardless of their status. Comment by John Sacks — August 30, 2007 @ 6:48 pm

That's anecdotal propaganda. This has repeatedly been investigate, and found not to be either widespread, common or significant. Just like your whole wingnut 'healthcare' lies.

I personally want to kick them out, close the borders and totally and truely reform the immigration policy in this country. Comment by John Sacks — August 30, 2007 @ 6:48 pm

I'm sure the natives that were here when your ancestors came, murdered, and stole their lands felt the same way. I always love the "I've got mine - screw you" attitudes of wingnuts.

Hey wingnut, you do realize that those 'illegals' are mostly of native american blood - meaning they have more of a right to this land, that Israel does to theirs. Why don't you learn to have a rational and consistent argument instead of falling back on bigotry, xenophobia and race baiting? Oh wait, that's right, you wingnuts never would get elected if you did that!

That’s anecdotal propaganda. This has repeatedly been investigate, and found not to be either widespread, common or significant. Just like your whole wingnut ‘healthcare’ lies.
