Yesterday, the Center for American Progress hosted an event examining the recent amendments to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. One panel, moderated by ThinkProgress editor Faiz Shakir, featured prominent bloggers and activists who have led the campaign to rein in the administration’s quest for expansive powers. If you missed it, you can now watch the video HERE. Also, check out more coverage of the event in today’s Washington Post.
Ya think that session was captured ten ways from Sunday by the CIA, FBI, NSA and Darth’s mp3 player?
August 30th, 2007 at 4:53 pmAnytime progressive screwballs “come together” for an “event” (read: panel to stir up more paranoia among their conspiracy-minded progtards) that discusses FISA, Bush and “domestic spying,” you know you’ll get nothing but baseless allegations and more fear mongering by progressives. I bet the panel moderated by Shakir featured bloggers and activists who were so mentally ill that they would’ve been laughed off the pages of even the MSM (liberals) due to their fanatical conspiracy theory. These progressive psychos on this panel were of the opinion that the US shouldn’t do careful and selective surveillance on Americans who have proven ties or are talking to Al-Qaeda members. Furthermore, these progtards on the panel also were of the misjudging opinion that Bush shouldn’t even have the authority to wiretap individual overseas without FISA approval, a backslide from current laws! This panel was nothing but a psycho one which put the theoretical “violation” of civil liberties over curbing terrorists.

Mexican rigs ready to roll
Truckers in ‘demonstration’ expected on roads Sept. 1

The requirements for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Mexican Truck Demonstration Project have been met, and some 37 Mexican trucking companies have been approved to run their long-haul rigs through the U.S. starting as early as Sept. 1, according to a Mexican government report.
In the United States, the inspector general of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on Aug. 6 issued to the House and Senate Appropriations Committee an audit about implementing NAFTA’s cross-border trucking provisions, the last hurdle DOT faced before allowing the Mexican truck demonstration project to begin.
As required by Congress, the report was withheld from public release until August 21 – 15 days after being delivered to Congress.
At that point, industry commentators instantly noted that the FMCSA inspector general requested that additional improvements be made in two areas: to improve the quality of the data used to monitor Mexican commercial driver traffic convictions in the United States and to ensure adequate capacity to inspect Mexican buses.

Mexican truckers may pick-up international loads after arriving with a load to a city in the U.S. But, no one can stop them from picking up a load and going to another city. There will be a war on our interstates and we all are in danger as that fight escalates.

This is my biggest concern about this issue. Personally, I have very controversial beliefs in regards to illegal immigration. I personally feel we should completely remove the border patrol and open the border. We could then handle immigration from a completely different standpoint, but that is a discussion for another time. However, Mexico has completely different safety issues than America, and that is my concern.

Ed Shultz has been talking about this on most of his show…. if this is allowed to go through, we are all screwed….even republicans will most likely join us in protesting this sneaky outsourcing. This will surely ruin our country forever.

But the Repug trolls here don’t care, because they don’t have driver’s licenses anyway. Mom handles all the errands for them.

To be fair, this is part of NAFTA, which was created by Clinton. Bush created its ugly cousin, CAFTA. You are right, though, in that we will lose a number of jobs, and that it will be a considerable and unnecessary safety risk.

August 30th, 2007 at 5:38 pmThe only democratic candidate that proposes to eliminate NAFTA is Kucicich… maybe Edwards to a point. My gut says if Kucinich appears to be a lead in the polls he will be offed off. No question. These one world order, multinational corporate thugs are running the show. When are we going to stand up? August 30th, 2007 at 5:46 pmChris L: The braindead sycophantic mainstream media doesn’t “get” that they’re becoming extinct by their selective airing of critical issues. No one trusts what they hear any longer unless they get it first from the internet.
I think I’ve answered my own and your question on this right now – they’re not covering it because they see the handwriting on the wall – that the blogosphere is eclipsing the MSM by an alarming rate and with lightning speed. They may still be doing the same thing but they’ve become a ghost of their former selves who haven’t recognized that in all actuality, they’re already extinct.

August 30th, 2007 at 5:50 pmjust a few minutes left in his show… some callers are talking about Craig. But just before I posted the link, a caller claimed if the Mexican truckers are allowed to cross our borders, we would see violence…. it is the nature in the trucking industry… we may even see bombs.
Essentially, the “non coverage” of this seismic event is precisely “why” they’ve become irrelevant. Not covering something this timely and relevant only shows their level of ignorance for what it is. It’s like the tail wagging the dog.
