Disagree with the man’s politics and his slanted view on morals to push a failed agenda but I wish the man all the best in his struggle with cancer.

  15. missmolly says:

I wish Tony well as he leaves, as he has a tough battle ahead of him. And Dana appears able to spew the Bushney BS with a straight face, so there won’t be too much change in the WH Press Room.

I only wish that Snow would be honest about his reasons for leaving instead of insulting us middle Americans by saying that his salary is inadequate. But I can understand his not wanting to be an object of pity.

  19. Krazny says:

This isn’t a huge surprise, Snow mentioned leaving about a month ago. I have a relative who is fighting cancer, and know how difficult it can be. While I think Snow did his job as the lying shit weasel of the White House well. I have no personal animosity towards Snow. I hope he can beat this cancer.

  20. Badmoodman says:

Tony seems to age 5 years with every press briefing. Yesterday he looked like a beaten down and broken old man. He won’t make any money, the cancer has taken him already.

yeah, that lying to and contempt for the american people puts a strain on an already deteriorating, cancer-filled body. how fortunate for snow that he has no concerns about medical coverage.

  26. Parrotlover77 says:

Interesting reason to leave. If the six figure salary he pulls as a press secretary isn’t enough to support his family and pay for his medical expenses, how exactly are the middle class supposed to pay for it when faced with the same situation?

  28. Lawrence E. Rafferty says:

Health issues aside, Tony Snow has brought lying to a higher level. Putting a spin on stories is too polite a way of describing what he has done. He has consistently lied to the press and the public just like the prior press secretary. Is he going back to the Sly fox Network? If so, his job description won’t change.

  30. Midwest Product says:

Could we please never, ever have another headline that starts out with the word “breaking”? Pretty please?

  31. troqua says:

Actually I don’t understand why he’s going to say he’s leaving to make more money. It’s a lame thing to say, even if it’s true. In his circumstance, it would be the first time “leaving to spend more time with family” would have the ring of truth. Or simply, “I want to go back into broadcasting.”

I have a hard time believing his health insurance isn’t covering him adequately, or that his current salary can’t cover the deductibles and co-pays.

  32. RUCerious says:

About time you got your pucking friorities straight.
My best to your family, enjoy each and every day.

  33. Starve-A-Bush_Feed-A-Beaver says:

Even though Tony Snow has been an enabler for wicked policies that have been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands, I wish him no personal ill. In fact, I hope he beats his cancer and then lives to reflect on his wicked ways and resolves to be a better person in the future, and dedicates himself henceforth to uplifting mankind rather than supporting a psychopathic political philosophy that has brought so much death, destruction, and unhappiness to the world.

  34. ronjazz says:

I’m rooting for the cancer. Traitors don’t deserve the life of luxury his lies have provided him.

  35. Raven says:

“Health issues aside, Tony Snow has brought lying to a higher level.”
    Comment by Lawrence E. Rafferty — August 31, 2007

Tony has taken it to the level of gleefully telling the lies,
knowing that everyone knows he is lying,
and mocking the press for coming there every day to hear it.

Which was precisely the reason for dumping Scott McClellan.

Karl and Co. had to give up on trying to convince the press they were telling the truth, why not simply make a Liars Theatre out of the WH press briefing?

Maybe Tony Snow is now going to do the Lee Atwater thing and go around and appolgize and say he was wrong to all the people he harmed and lied about the last 10 years.

Unlike some of the other posters on this site, I have no sympathy for the man or his struggle.

    Comment by dim wit — August 31, 2007 @ 12:18 pm

I guess I have compassion for anybody going through that kind of suffering, no matter what loathesome things they have done in their life. Even Lee Atwater, whose list of awful deeds far exceeds Snow’s, got my sympathy when he was dying of a brain tumor. This does not mean I excuse Lee’s campaign dirty tricks or Snow’s lies and spin for Bush.

Speaking of Atwater — before he died, he made a number of apologies to those he worked to destroy during his career, including Michael Dukakis and Tom Turnipseed (both opposition candidates in campaigns he ran). We’ll never know how sincere those apologies were, but we can acknowledge that he did make them. I wonder if Snow will have any confessions and repentence to make?

  53. Conservatives Hate America says:

This is clearly why we need universal healthcare.

  54. veritas says:

Unfortunately, Snow will become the poster child for the new “mind/body paradigm” – how our actions (lying and deceit) relect back to our level of homeostasis. It’s been scientifically shown that ulcers and facilitated segments of disease surrounding our “gut” have everything to do with stress and the inhuman ability to say one thing and believe (in our gut) another – aka: The Lie vs. truth.

Not wishing this disease on anyone under any circumstances, Tony Snow relects the old adage: “you are what you eat/ you are what you think”. Prostituting his personal integrity and lying through his teeth has definitely contributed to his malaise.

The fact that it involves his colon and has to do with “retention and blockage there”, really supports the mind/body theory for lying and what chronic and repeated lying does to a human being.

  55. cancer survivor says:

First I’m in my 7th month of treatment for leukemia.

I would give anything to ask tony how he feels about universal health care now that he is starting to feel the effects of the chemotherapy he is on. he is starting to lose his hair, and I know exactly how feels.

I would ask tony the following question in a few months time from now after he has gone through the nausea and chemo brain.

“Tony, with all your experience with cancer, how would expect someone without the resource network you have to get through this? Is surviving cancer a right of only the fortunate sons, or is health care a basic human right?”

  56. veritas says:

No doubt Snow is finding himself “hoist on his own pitard” – his reason for leaving being needing more money. He’s not old enough for Medicare and his own party policies are now coming home to roost for him vis-a-vis the unaffordable quality of healthcare for americans.

I think she lost her soul already, alas. She has developed the contortionism necessary to play the bizarre White House Twister game Bush and Cheney moderate — even if she is still pretty clumsy at it. It’s impossible to do that with a soul, even though Colin Powell gave it a good try.

No sh*t, Sherlock! Who would hire him (besides FOX) anyway?

  118. Susan says:

Interesting, so many have left to “spend time with their families” and the one person who has a legitimate reason to “spend time with his family” leaves for the money???

  119. The Chocolate Cavity of the Lord Jesus Mohammed says:

    >Yay. I prefer to be lied to by a pretty woman any day.

Amen. I’d also prefer they were f#cking me in a more literal, less metaphorical sense….

  120. The Chocolate Cavity of the Lord Jesus Mohammed says:

    >You libs are crazy the man is dieing of cancer
    > and you cant resist insulting him and hating on him?

Nope, I can’t. Its Karma. The universe sometimes has a way of meting out just desserts. The man is an enabler for bloodshed and murder on a mass scale. The difference between him and Joseph Goebbels is only a matter of degree. Sure they arent putting anywhere near as many people in camps to die, but hundreds of thousands are being killed needlessly nonethess. Dead is dead. Console the mother whose holding her convulsing little girl with shredded legs by telling her that the bomb that fell on her house wasnt meant for her. It was meant for the bad man saddam who isnt our pal anymore and has the same color skin as the peope who attacked us on 9-11. That will make them both feel better im sure.

You whine like a little girl. This whining you are doing is coming from the party of swiftboating, making fun of cripples for not taking thier medication, comparing triple amputee war veterans to bin laden, purple heart bandaids, ceaseless investigations of irrelevant sex lives, imaginary illegitimate black babies, fabricated claims of liberals banning bibles, and popular pundits wishing supreme court justices would be poisoned.
The poison pen is such a staple of your party these days that its practically part of the platform. And even those amongst you who dont support it, don’t have the courage to speak out against it. People like McCain were savaged by thier own, and 6 years later they coming mewing to suck as the poisoned teat which felled them. And that poison will get them nowhere in the end…short term gain for long term, systemic failure..

For years and years the people you support have been dishing out venom, viciousness and bile, and guess what pal, you reap what you sew.
And I can can only speak for myself, but I’m guessing theres plenty of others who are just as ready as I am to give a taste of your own vile medicine.

So yes my moneys on a horse name Cancer, to gallop its way slowly and painfully through snowjobs bowells until its double or nothings him into the next world.

  121. njsteve says:

Tony is a smart fellow. His politics and judgement have always been questionable but I wonder how dumb he feels now. He joined a white house with no viable agenda and was able to spew the company line with a straight face. He must be kicking himself now, knowing that his lies may have caused more lies and abandoned hopes of americans throughout the world. I wish him the best in his cancer fight but hope he finds “religion” if his fight is unsuccessful.

  122. two7five7one says:

You take a job working for a miserable failure, a serial liar, a thief, and a mass murderer.

You are expected to make him look good in the eyes of representatives of the press, most of whom are nothing but corporate stooges for the same media organs who put your employer in office. But a few of them will ask some uncomfortable questions.

You have watched your two predecessors go down in flames, because those few questions expose you for the fraud you are.

Your legacy: “A famous professional bull-shitter, one of many who tried to defend the indefensible.”
