Despite efforts to shift the goal posts on what constitutes "winning" in Iraq, a significant block of the war supporters are quaking . . . how can they get out without appearing to "flipflop" or exhibiting a "cut and run" mentality. Better to save American soldiers' lives and limbs than to stand on implausable platitudes and falicies. Get us out. It's the only honorable, humanitarian solution. It's a religious, civil war. We cannot win. "Win" is word-speak for saving face. We cannot save face. We have lost. The best we can do is to get out and admit that where ethnic and religous differences divide a courtry that does not share our ethnicity and religious history, they must sort out their differences on their own. It's a loss for our country's self image, not one our politicians has any right to fight. It's a lesson for our leaders. Keep your fight to enemies that you understand. . . . otherwise, you are the enemy, to both your own people and to the people that you have so wrecklessly targeted. The pity of it all is that his now exwife had to file for devorce in order to avoid absorbing the debts of his now failed but formally successful business.
