Soltz to Senor: ‘You can’t spin me a third time.’»

Last night on Hannity and Colmes, Iraq war vet and VoteVets founder Jon Soltz debated Dan Senor, former senior adviser to Paul Bremer in Iraq. When Senor told Soltz “you got to admit” progress is being made in Iraq, Soltz responded:

When you were in Iraq, I believed you. I trusted you. Our soldiers needed your leadership. You told us weapons of mass destruction, we’ve turned the corner in Iraq. So I’m not going to sit here and be lectured by someone like you. I just can’t have that. I can be lectured by Gen. Petraeus, I can be lectured by our generals. But you spun me once, you spun me twice, you can’t spin me a third time.

Later, Soltz argued that recent ads by Freedom’s Watch are “completely misleading” because there was “no connection between 9/11 and Iraq.” Those soldiers “have been misled by people like Dan Senor,” Soltz said. Watch it:

Sheesh. Another phony vet organization lead by the left.

You people will never learn. When all is said and done, the American will NEVER buy the anti-war, anti-troop message organizations like VoteVet propogate. See John Kerry for what we do to people like that.

I would say see Max Cleland, but he actually pretended to support the war in 2002 before we ousted his ass.

  2. Jake D. Says:

There IS at least one “connection” between 9/11 and Saddam’s Iraq: both were TERRORISTS.

  3. darla Says:

i love watching soltz these days, because he embodies the frustration of any reasonable human being. this guy Senor, trying to willy nilly his way around each and every intellectual justification for the war. so pathetic….

  4. Len Says:

Did anybody really ever see this Soltz guy in Iraq allegedly serving?

Talk about your dishonest, meaningless comments.

Just once, try making a valdi point.

  6. hellinabucket Says:

And Jake D. is out of the gate early with dumb sh!t he thinks needs to be said. HWV’s got you beat with stupid Jake so you’ve got some ground to make up still.

  7. GSD Says:

Let’s not forget that Bush flunkie and war spinmeister Dan Senor is the husband of the newest CNN star Campbell Brown.

    Your ‘liberal media’ in action.

  8. Uncle Ho Says:

HWV; I don’t see YOUR ass in the army fighting the war that YOU support. Kerry, Cleland, and Soltz know the real score. Put up or shut up coward!

GOP spin machine is in full throttle.

  9. Mark Says:

so I would assume Jakke adovcates invading Ireland since it has long been known to harbour terrorists…far longer (100 years?) than Iraq

  10. GSD Says:

Bush should bomb America. We were harboring the 9/11 plotters before they struck!

I can’t believe Bush is a supporter of terrorists, but then again he did allow the Bin Laden family to be flown out of the US after 9/11 without checking them out.

    -GSD

  11. Jake D. Says:

No, Mark, unless there were terrorists there who posed a gathering threat to the U.S.

P.S. if anyone NOT on the “Ignore List” needs an example of a personal attack: “dumb sh!t he thinks needs to be said. HWV’s got you beat with stupid Jake so you’ve got some ground to make up still.”

Jake, I’m calling you out for the unecessary and childish blather you posted. Go ahead and ignore me but what you posted is dead ass wrong.

  15. Serenity Now Says:

Just because you wear the uniform doesn’t always make you right. That goes for both Democrats and Republicans.

The US military is not in Iraq protecting Americans. They are there to protect big business interests (oil). There is no evidence nor has their ever been any evidence that the US military is in Iraq to save American lives.

I’m very sorry that these progressive organizations threaten you so much. Poor baby. VoteVets does more to support our troops than any right wing organization ever has or ever will.

You seem to be forgetting that it is the Republics who have either filibustered or vetoed legislation to help the vets with time at home, training, equipment and benefits. Is that how you want to support our vets.

  17. Chris W Says:

The troll that seems to always post the first three comments of every discussion needs to get a life.

    Comment by Jake D.

Jake, Jake, your idiocy is showing. Saddam was a dictator. If you consider a dictator to be a terrorist, then I guess that George Bush is a terrorist.

  19. hellinabucket Says:

Wasn’t it the republicans who pushed for better healthcare for the vets? Didn’t they push to provide the military with the best equipment for the soldiers and marines at the start of this conflict? Didn’t they project long term to secure funding for this monumental operation?

If you answered yes to any of these questions your name is Jake.

  20. bilbogaggins Says:

When all is said and done, the American will NEVER buy the anti-war, anti-troop message organizations like VoteVet propogate.

I’m sorry Jake, but America IS buying it. Last poll showed that 66% of the people in this country think that Iraq was a mistake. So, I guess that they are buying the anti-war message.

And, there is no anti-troop message from anyone other than the rightards who don’t care if they have time home with their family, have proper armor and training and have the medical benefits they deserve when they come home broken.

  21. dono Says:

Professional trolls - the new beach-head of political spin. Note how they (if there are really more than one) post first, second and then repost to attempt to control the comments.

On topic though Hannity sure was shouting a lot - must have hit a nerve to call bullshit to Senor.

  22. tablogloid Says:

Kudos to Solz for pounding away at the lies and spin that hides the real story from 90% of the population who have been programmed to know nothing but the lumpy condition of Brittany’s derriere and all that other pop culture fodder.

  23. GSD Says:

Loser Hannity also tries to make a sleazy point by claiming Soltz is ‘attacking the troops’ instead of the point Soltz was making of attacking the Bush propagandists who use troops to score political points.

    -GSD

  24. Innocent Bystander Says:

Is it me or is the quality of the troll comments here going downhill? Is the RNC in this bad a shape that they can’t hire people to post with intelligent arguments?

Did Dan counter Stolz with the “I’ve sat in the WH” gambit like that other clown, Christie? The quality of WH talking heads seems to follow the same trendlines as the Bushbot posters here.

  25. hellinabucket Says:

Solz is rock solid. His mission is clear and defined. We will all see a lot more from Mr. Solz and I’m looking forward to it.

Dude.. theres another one.. both 9-11 and Iraq were caused by PEOPLE.
BROWN PEOPLE. With testicles…oh..the similarities are striking…

Even your hysterical friend scooter admitted that the united states consorts with terrorists when it serves thier ends. If thats the only connection to 9-11, its a lame one, as 9-11 would then be also connected to people like the Contras and Cuban’s who plot to blow up jetliners.
    (i.e. our pals)

    > see John Kerry for what we do to people like that.

make up wholly unsubstaniated allegations against them, based on claims by people idealogically opposed to everything he stands for, and thus having an enormous motivation to lie?

    you’re right
i’m sure some people will be claiming soon that Soltz was never in iraq, he was just sitting on the internet in the nearby Islamic State of Al-Orleans

We have noticed that for the past few weeks. I think the Rerpugs have lost heart and have pulled back under the rock. BushCo may have just landed the knockout punch to set their party back 20 years.

And looking at their “candidates” for 08, things are pretty sad, indeed.

  29. newsy Says:

Soltz is a punk who’s answer to everything is “shut up I served” even to decorated servicemen. Soltz’s own unit hated him.

Bush, Powell, and Bremer were all ready to cut and run from Iraq if the Iraqis asked us to go. I’ve got quotes and their sources, and would post them, but I doubt you could comprehend simple English. But if a Democrat or anti-war group says we gotta leave? Hell no. They are labeled defeatists, terrorist-lovers, anti-American, and only the generals on the ground will decide when we leave.

    Comment by TripMaster Monkey — September 5, 2007 @ 11:11 am

Well if it isn’t! Totally missed that one. I guess that fixes the argument that by fighting terrorism, we aren’t fighting a country or a government like we do in a traditional war.

  35. tarazan Says:

Senor’s job, like all Neocons, is to spin the war,not to fight in it like Soltz.

Made my day. Soltz called those liars what they are right to their faces and there wasn’t a damned thing they could do about it, except play the usual Repub victim card. Seeing Hamnity’s face and how pissed off he was, was priceless.

  40. Jo-Ann Says:

John Soltz is a breeze of fresh air and candor. He has been scarred for life by the lies spun by this administration that make light of a soldier’s trust and fealty to the flag. Any war, but this war game ,that a very callous Commander in Chief fabricated for an ego. Soltz has to deal with the mental and physical pain all around him every day. Gold Star mothers are asking:” My loved one died for THIS?” Dan Senor is a right wing tool. We can’t blame Campbell Brown for her choice of a husband. But he should reevaluate his political philosophy for the sake of his unborn child.

  41. Ret. Col. Jack Ripper Says:

Jake: “There IS at least one “connection” between 9/11 and Saddam’s Iraq: both were TERRORISTS.”

No, that’s wrong. Saddam was, as Osama bin Laden referred to him, the “secular dictator” or Iraq. Osama bin Laden considered the secular dictator to be his enemy. One of bin Laden’s top goals in the late 90’s was to remove Saddam from power. So, in this sense, Bush completely cooperated with the terrorist organization that attacked us on 9-11.

A little more about Ms. Brown before she moved up in the dating food chain:

At the time, the U.S. acquiesced to Abdullah’s insistence on no women in the Air Traffic Control Tower or on the tarmac at the Waco Airport. Brown conveniently did not mention this, but instead delivered a gushing story on Abdullah. Very pleasing to her then-boyfriend, Al-Jubeir, I’m sure. Ditto for her friendly interviews with HAMAS leaders, recipients of a lot of cold, hard Saudi cash.

For those who are not familiar with Al-Jubeir, he went to high school part of the time in Texas and was most prominently seen defending Saudi Arabia everywhere in the media after 9/11. His appearance on “60 Minutes” defending the Saudi’s holding hostage of the American children of Patricia Roush, was a most cold-hearted one.

    What a lady!

I sorry to tell this the American people are not tire of the Anti-war group. But they are tire of all the lies Bush and his crew keep putting out and of people like you who cannot tell the different between the truth and Bush’s lies. And I not so sure Bush’s vicorty in 2004 was real. In closing all I can say is you reality is what most people would call a fantasy and the truth is not in it at all!

  61. OldSoldier Says:

Thanks to Jon Soltz for throwing the BS flag. He is an American hero. Soltz carried a rifle in Iraq, while Senor, protected by better men than himself, spun facts to support the single worst US policy disaster in our history.

Fox Noise, true to its nature as usual, obscures rational argument by shouting. Opposing the reich wing is as dangerous as anything you did in uniform, but you’re not alone. One more time into the breach, Jon. I’ll go with you this time.

the only ties all americans have with this ”war” is that we all pay taxes to support it, and on top of that, bush and his”repubilkkkan christian right’’supporters are aggressively cutting taxes for thier corperate friends to the point that they pay no taxes. you can’t have it both ways, you have your war and pay your taxes to support the servicemen or you cut taxes and bring them home. but it seems to me the repubilkkkans love their money more, Why? because this is a volunteer army nobody cares about.if you do care call your congressmen and tell them to make everyone starting with the riches corporations to pay their share.i know they won’t.I know the truth your all just little brainless people.
