I believe there have been instances of torture at Gitmo. I also believe that, as I stated earlier, many of the detainees are trained LIARS. Al Qaeda's training manual explicitly talks about it.

Look at page 16 here, i.e. Lesson 18

When I said "As they should have been", I was referring to those who were paid reparations for their internment.

As they should have been. I don't think however these Japanese Americans were caught taking up arms with Japan to fight the U.S. If you are trying to compare these people with those at Gitmo, who BTW are foreign nationals, NOT American citizens, it's a poor comparison.

On November 30, 2004, The New York Times published excerpts from an internal memo leaked from the U.S. administration,[94] referring to a report from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
The ICRC reports of several activities which, it said, were "tantamount to torture": exposure to loud noise or music, prolonged extreme temperatures, or beatings. It also reported that a behavior science team (BSCT), also called 'Biscuit', and military physicians communicated confidential medical information to the interrogation teams (weaknesses, phobias, etc.), resulting in the prisoners losing confidence in their medical care.

"On 24 August 2006, the 24 year old Murat Kurnaz was released from the base. He claimed to have been exposed to water torture, sexual harassment and desecration of Islam while staying on Guantanamo."

So where is his proof? This is a he said she said case. I am not denying OR confirming that it happened. You should not be so quick to automatically believe the accused. If this guy wasn't picked up on the battle field then there should have been charges filed or he should have been released much earlier. If he was picked up on the BATTLEFIELD fighting U.S. soldiers, however, then he was an enemy combatant where due process in a criminal proceeding is not how he should be treated. Military tribunals should be conducted on a individual basis, but for some reason people keep looking at these thugs at Gitmo (the NON U.S. CITIZENS) as criminals that have a right to due process. They are NOT criminals. And as for the ones that are U.S. citizens that are picked up on the battlefield shooting at their OWN soldiers, should be given due process ONLY in a military tribunal, and NOT a U.S. court (John Walker). They too are enemy combatants. When you take up arms against U.S. soldiers you are an enemy combatant. The multiple cases where people have been incorrectly classified as an enemy combatant is something that need to be fixed pronto.

Japanese American Internment was the forced removal and internment of approximately 120,000[1] Japanese and Japanese Americans (62 percent of whom were United States citizens)[2][3] from the West Coast of the United States during World War II.

In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed legislation which apologized for the internment on behalf of the U.S. government. The legislation stated that government actions were based on "race prejudice, war hysteria, and a failure of political leadership",[6] and beginning in 1990, the government paid reparations to surviving internees.

The closing-down of the Guantánamo Prison has been requested by Amnesty International (May 2005), the United Nations (February 2006) and the European Union (May 2006).
On 6 September 2006, President Bush announced that enemy combatants held by the CIA will be transferred to the custody of DOD, and held at Guantánamo Prison. Among approximately 500 prisoners in Guantánamo Bay, only 10 have been tried by the Guantanamo military commission, but all cases have been stayed pending the adjustments being made to comply with the Hamdan decision by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Second of all you have also to be of the OPINION the what is going on in Gitmo constitutes human rights abuse, considering most of those who are being held there are trained LIARS.

On 10 June 2006, the Department of Defense reported that three Guantánamo Bay captives committed suicide. The military reported the men hanged themselves with nooses made of sheets and clothes. One of the men was first detained when he was a juvenile. They each had been imprisoned for the past four years, but never charged with a crime. Before June 10, the Department of Defense acknowledged there had been 41 suicide attempts at the camp. On 24 August 2006, the 24 year old Murat Kurnaz was released from the base. He claimed to have been exposed to water torture, sexual harassment and desecration of Islam while staying on Guantanamo. The documentary "Prisoner 345", interviews other former captives, Sami al-Hajj and Moazzam Beg, making similar claims of harassment.

Who made this organization the speaker for human rights and/or those rights which they mention are to be universally accepted? Where does this organization have the right to basically produce a constitution? Human rights expressed by this organization are NOT universally accepted, nor should they be.

Then Baker is an idiot. First for stating that there IS an ongoing debate with what is going on down in Gitmo is considered torture and then saying in the same quote that the U.S. has slipped in human rights promotion.

"Its not that i don’t like the answer, it just a bad answer, a thoughtless answer, the kind of answer only an idiot could believe or espouse."

A bad answer? A thoughtless answer? Considering it's only your OPINION and can be defended by using YOUR own cited quote, you can really call me an idiot and think it's valid. Maybe you are the idiot for contradicting yourself.

Calling someone an idiot just because you don’t like their answer pretty much invalidates the insult.

all I am saying is that this RARE incident involving very few people should have made it not worth mentioning. Second of all you have also to be of the OPINION the what is going on in Gitmo constitutes human rights abuse, considering most of those who are being held there are trained LIARS.
It clear you do not know what Human Rights are.
I suggest you educate yourself. Read about the U.S.
