This week, President Bush met with China’s President Hu Jintao in Australia at the APEC summit. In “his usual understated way,” Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) issued a statement yesterday asking: “If this were 1936, would President Bush be anxious to sit next to Adolf?” “One bit of advice, Mr. President,” Rohrabacher said, “I wouldn’t be so anxious to use the toothpaste in your hotel room.”

AND TP is cheering the death of our President. That gives you Cheney.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:06 amI wish him success.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:06 amAre you kidding me? Why would China want to shoot the hand that has given them so much?
September 7th, 2007 at 11:07 amSTUPID REPUBLICSUM either doesn’t know or doesn’t care (would interfere with her lies) that the Dumbya has testers that eat/drink/try everything before the Boy King has a chance at it?
Stupid c*nt.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:08 amNice to know that the right is continuing to lose its grip on reality.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:08 amWhen the whole world hates you, paranoia isn’t a bad thing.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:09 amPres. Bush killed William H. Lash III!
It’s true! William H. Lash III supposedly “shot himself”, but we all know that Pres. Bush ordered his assassination!
See! I can pretend to be as nutty as Poster #1 oviously is! ;-)
September 7th, 2007 at 11:09 amcould the usa be so lucky?
September 7th, 2007 at 11:10 amI’m a fan ot TP, but this is misleading. I think he was remarking on the quality of China products (toothpaste) exported to the U.S., not on any threat or attempt to kill the Pres. They guy is a kook, but let’s not make moutains out of mole hills.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:10 amWhat is it with the Right and hysterics?
September 7th, 2007 at 11:11 amGod speed President Hu.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:11 amNote to Dana; there are some of us who think Dumbya IS the 2007 version of Adolf. Remember that Hitler was a rightie too.
#4, Dana is male btw.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:12 amHurry, chimpster! looks like you’ve found the replacement for John Bolton for UN Ambassador!
September 7th, 2007 at 11:12 amoooops, maybe you’ll have to wait until the next recess.

Actually it is pointing out the typical fear-mongering hysterics that the Right embraces wholeheartedly. Reading comprehension not a strength, is it?

Could the WORLD be so lucky?
September 7th, 2007 at 11:14 amRohrbacher … brought to you by the same people who brought you Rummie, Gonzo, Wolfie, Cheney, The Iraq War, The Prosecutor Scandal, illegal wiretapping, etc… The good ole GOP.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:15 amThe message is necessarily simple for the simple minded: Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid. We don’t care what you’re afraid of and it doesn’t matter what you are afraid of, Just Be Afraid. You bring with your cowardice, we’ll supply something for you to fear.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:16 amI certainly hope her statement does not get much play on the world stage - how embarrassing. She represents the US every time she opens her mouth.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:17 ampoor dana. so desperate that he is trying to shame his idiot boy into sitting next to someone that he wants to kill him. Is this how you convince someone as slow as bushwa to do something it doesn’t want to do? Is this his clumsy way of helping the world by taking out the king?
September 7th, 2007 at 11:18 amAND TP is cheering the death of our President. That gives you Cheney.

I’d cheer. Very loud & very clear. Even with Cheney taking over I’d cheer. His heart wouldn’t take it.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:18 amGodwin’s Law !!! :)

Seriously, comparing the president of China to Hitler is inflammatory and unnecessary. Anyone who starts with that in their argument either has a weak argument or isn’t very good at debate.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:19 amBush still thinks he’s in Austria
“President Bush not only muddled the international meeting he was attending this week - he also thought he was on the other side of the world. . . . ”

September 7th, 2007 at 11:19 amLet’s not forget that (other than its disputes with Taiwan) China is not actively pursuing world domination. Seems that it may be the Chinese President who might be sitting next to “Hitler”.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:19 amWow, HWV is in another world. The thread is about a republican inciter bashing another leader that was invited to the APEC meetings and HWV claims that TP is cheering for the death of our president.
That is very telling HWV.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:19 amUh…I fail to see how “using toothpaste” equates with offing the Pres. Pretty sure that was just a slam on Chinese-made products sucking lately.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:20 amThe really ironic part of this absurd statement is that Bush’s grandfather did business with Hitler.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:21 amRohrabacher and his GOP ilk are deluded asshats that should be arrested and removed from office.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:22 amCertainly, most realize this is a reference to the recently recalled China-made hotel toothpaste that contained a key ingredient in anti-freeze?
But what struck me most… as a student of history… that George Bush would VERY MUCH be anxious to sit next to someone like the 1936 Chancellor of Germany. You have to remember that this was “pre” WWII. Hitler was very popular in Europe. Germany hosted the Olympics that year and was Time Magazine’s “Man of the Year”. He turned the German economy around from near bankruptcy to an economic power house in just a few short years. And Britain had a peace treaty signed with him.
I liken it to his ability to “see into Putin’s soul” and know what a good man he was, while today, Putin is rolling back freedoms in Russia, engaging in misusing government power to intimidate his critics, and recently started his own “Pro-Putin youth league” that say they’d prefer a return to the old Soviet Union days.
Would Bush have wanted to sit next to Hitler in ‘36? You’re damned skippy!
September 7th, 2007 at 11:22 amdana’s credibility’s been shot ever since he took to chilling out with the taliban.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:22 amSomeone should check on Rohrabacher’s kool-aid mix,
September 7th, 2007 at 11:23 amseems it might be a little stronger than necessary.
Let’s not forget that (other than its disputes with Taiwan) China is not actively pursuing world domination. Seems that it may be the Chinese President who might be sitting next to “Hitlerâ€.
Comment by DanCaveman — September 7, 2007 @ 11:19 am
Well, that’s not actually true. Consider the massive Chinese resource-fueled investment in Africa and Latin America. They may be using different tactics than the United States, but they are definitely not sitting around twiddling their thumbs in terms of empire-building.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:25 am“I HOPE IT’S YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS THAT DIE” said US Representative Dana Rohrabacher to American citizens who questioned the Bush Administration’s unlawful extraordinary rendition policies. - 4/17/07, at Congressional hearing.

I sure his grandfather would have loved it.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:28 amToasterhead,
Thanks for the insight! I still think that investments that yield a willing empire is not quite equivalent to invasion and murder of those who don’t fit into your model of the world. I do see your point though.
September 7th, 2007 at 11:29 amHu Jintao would be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize!

True - it’s certainly a change from the “bribe or bullet - your choice” approach the U.S. has taken with leaders in developing countries over the past several decades. The concern among many of us is that the Chinese “here’s a billion dollars and some roads, bulldoze whoever you like” approach is also not so good for the people of Zimbabwe.
There must be a happy medium somewhere…

Might I make one small corection, toasterhead?
“… the right HAS TOTALLY LOST its grip on reality…”
There… see? makes so much more sense w/ the past tense of the verb!
September 7th, 2007 at 11:59 amWe can only hope that Karma happens to Bush sooner or later…..I think a little stop at the Hauge would be in order for Bush and Cheney.
September 7th, 2007 at 12:03 pmNo, no, no, no, no… China is trying to kill the American people and their pets. Bush and Cheney are safe… they have staff to test their food and toothpaste for them. Just like the kings and emperors did.
September 7th, 2007 at 12:04 pmYou know you’re a Republican when:
1. You’re afraid of your own shadow.
2. You believe in the Boogy-Man
3. People who don’t look like you are scary.
4. You’re married and enjoy playing with men in public restrooms
5. You’re married, employed as a pastor, enjoy playing with men, and enjoy meth.
6. You’re a 100% family values and keep the children safe type, but you can’t resist a little pee-pee chat with underage boys.
7. Although you have a high profile position in the campaign to elect the next GOP president, you can’t resist the urge to pay an undercover police officer for the privledge of swallowing his essence — Ewwwww.
Unfortunately the list goes on, and on, and on…
September 7th, 2007 at 12:04 pmUh… loansharks really don’t like to kill the people that owe them money, ’cause then, they can’t collect. It’s more likey Hu will simply break a thumb, or two.

Actually, they just bring their own cooks as part of the advance team. The President and Vice President never actually eat food from any of the places they visit.
September 7th, 2007 at 12:31 pmIf Hu Jintao is Hitler, then Osama bin Laden is….Stalin!
And that makes Saddam Hussein Trotsky!
(And doesn’t that make Vladimir Putin Mussolini and Hugo Chavez Tojo? Oooooh I like this game!)
September 7th, 2007 at 12:31 pmOh goody…we’re starting the reasoning for yet another war. Might as well bring the entire world into it and doom mankind completely.
What a f*cking idiot this guy is!
September 7th, 2007 at 12:32 pmI wish our political hack representatives would learn that there’s more to world history than the Nazis and WWII.
September 7th, 2007 at 12:46 pmI think what he meant to say is that Bush should be careful if Hu Jintao begins tapping his feet in the men’s room.
September 7th, 2007 at 12:52 pmThe only thing China is trying to kill is our economy, our currency, and our ability to manufacture goods and they have plenty of assistance from our business leaders here in the states.
September 7th, 2007 at 12:55 pmDana Rohrabacher should try some toothpaste. It might make the hot wind coming out his mouth smell a bit better.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:10 pmIt always comes down to money. Why would they do this? Would that help them economically in their strong ties with the US…probably not. This guy is a jackass.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:19 pmRohrabacher has had a thing against China for ages. He only wears Campers shoes because they’re made in Spain, not in China.
September 7th, 2007 at 1:59 pmThe Republican presidential field:
2 belligerent old men
1 slick operator
1 contrarian
5 total wackos
All they get asked about is
1. Iraq,
2. Torture (which always turns into a contest over whose is biggest)
3. gay marriage (see #2 above)
Democrats are expected to have policies and programs on Iraq, health care, education, energy, fiscal policy and global warming.
And they do!
Makes it a no-brainer who gets my vote.
September 7th, 2007 at 2:17 pmWhen Bush and Hu Jintao met, it was not Bush who was sitting next to Adolf, it was Hu.

…PLEASE brush with sometainted Chinese toothpaste…
…give your inbred kids/grandkids lead paint tainted toys…
…and advise your gods Bushiva and L’il dick to do the same…
…may ALL you hypocritical conservative demons meet Saddam in hell…
…relatively soon…
September 7th, 2007 at 8:54 pmRep. Dana Rohrabacher….yeah that guy’s stable!!??!!
September 8th, 2007 at 12:23 amWell, actually, Bush’s grandfather, Prescott Bush DID sit next to Hitler and tried to illegally make money by selling the war monger, warmonger things. What makes you think his warmonger grandson would be any different. The apple schnapps doesn’t fall far from the tree.
September 9th, 2007 at 5:14 amWhile the USA was fighting Hitler’s army President GW Bush’s grandfather was supplying money to the Nazis for weapons. The Government of the USA forced the closure of their bank which did the financing. Without GWB’s grandfather it is highly unlikely that Hitler would have ever gained power in Germany. The problem is Bush money. The solution for the problems the world is facing is to separate the money from the Bushes and the Bushes from the money.
September 9th, 2007 at 8:04 amWhy would Hu want to do something like that…good help is so hard to find these days.
