Ethnic cleansing my ass! When we went in, the plan was to be out of Iraq in 90 days, 120 tops. Four years later, what do you think we’re still doing in Iraq? We’re exterminating the population. Almost a month ago I wrote this cursory accounting of the numbers and guessed we’d exterminated about 20% of the population. The real number is around 50%. The same thing is planned for Iran, but BushÂ©oâ„¢ isn’t going to fool around this time. They plan to go straight to nuclear warheads and do the job in three days.

Both NPR and Newsweek have done reports on this ethnic cleansing that has occured DURING the Surge in Baghdad. Masked gunmen ordering Sunni families out of their homes, and replacing them with Shiite families….all under the watchfull eyes of the Iraqi Police. These police are so infiltrated with Shiite militiamen, that Gen. Jones thinks they should be disbanded, and started over from scratch.
The Sunni cabinet member have walked out of the Govt., largely due to this injustice.
And what are we giving these Sunni Shieks in Al Anbar in return for their cooperation.Weapons??Training???

As if the U.S. Army just “let it happen”? Zakaria is full of it.

“If you look at Baghdad, it is essentially a very cleansed city. It is, the Shia and Sunni communities have been separated by the river.”

“It doesn’t seem that likely that we’re going to end up seeing some kind of massive genocide. The ethnic cleansing has happened.

Oh and he is sure that they will stay seperated and mind their own business once we leave before the political situation is solved? Zakaria is delusional. The ethnic cleansing of one city doesn’t represent the rest of the situation in the rest of Iraq and for him to suggest the the ethnic cleansing is basically over and that our withdrawl will not likely encourage more of the same is insane on his part. The draw down NOT withdrawal of troops has to coincide and run in tandum with the political progress in Iraq and right now that’s pretty much out of the question.
