Bush’s new Iraqi friend.»

sattarDuring his “surprise visit” to Iraq earlier this month, President Bush met with Sattar Abu Risha, the head of the Anbar Salvation Council who “has a rather unsavory reputation as one of the shadiest figures in the Sunni community.” Time magazine wrote that “Sheikh Sattar, whose tribe is notorious for highway banditry, is also building a personal militia, loyal not to the Iraqi government but only to him.” Marc Lynch writes, “It’s kind of humiliating to watch an American President get rolled by a two bit, corrupt petty shaykh.” More depressingly:

According to one widely disseminated account of their meeting, Bush acted shocked when Abu Risha complained about Sunnis being killed in Baghdad because of their names, claiming he had never heard of such things. … [I]f true, what an astonishingly depressing admission of ignorance of one of the most important aspects of the Iraqi situation: he has never heard of the ethnic cleansing of Baghdad.

They are sociopaths. They have, quite literally, no capacity to experience empathy.

They do not care that the Iraqi people are human beings.

They do not understand that the Iraqis have families they are fighting to protect.

They do not care that to the Iraqi people, we are taking precious lives that matter to them, from them.

If you cut them, they damned well BLEED.

But sociopaths simply do not care, and do not care to understand why they should care. Their apathy, disdain and general lack of humanity will come to bite us all, every American and every ally, right in the ass.

If you believe in the concept of soul, all humans have a soul. It’s just that Bush and company don’t give a flying f*ck, and are more than happy to screw everyone over in the real world, for some sort of vile and sick reason: A reward in some afterlife. Kind of like receiving 42 virgins for the righteous death of a sanctioned martyr.

Idiots, all. Dangerous, all. They are precisely the kind of people that need to be locked up forever to protect society as a whole. Because invariably, sociopaths who gain power spread their twisted mental handicap to others. No more normal a sociopath seems, the more society is degraded.

  18. Moderation Says:

It’s not that they have no souls, papa. It’s that they are willing to risk damning their souls for all eternity for their ambitions. I am an atheist, and do not believe in a soul, or an afterlife. However, these people supposedly do. I have read the bible from cover to cover more than once. These so-called men and women “of faith” indicate with their actions that they either have not read the bible, have cherry-picked the bible for the parts they like (mostly old-testament, mind you), and would be spat upon by the great thinker Yeshua.

Yeshua (Jesus; the Messiah according to both Christians and Muslims, mind you) would today be at the head of the peace movement, attempting to stop these bastards slaughtering in his name. The modern Republican party and their talking heads would label the man who wanted peace, always peace and never war, as a long-haired hippie moonbat who is a traitor and deserves to die.

They don’t understand a damned thing about the message of the man Yeshua. Not a damned word he said. They substitute what THEY believe for what HE believed, and they do so while invoking his name.

    Vile, disgusting human beings.

    Comment by Frank J — September 9, 2007 @ 12:59 am

Bush has always had my endorsement. He is an old family friend, and although he is embarrassing in his ignorance and incompetence from time to time, we still need him as a ‘front” for our nefarious dealings, and his lack of brainpower makes him a perfect foil for us. Al Qaeda loves Bush, and would do anything it could to see him have another term; too bad about that amendment. He’s been great for us, we’re recruiting faster than we can keep up with, and the training is amazing, as Bush sends replacement targets by the thousands.

Is that so surprising? I have proven time and again that I am much smarter than the present Bush-led administration, so it follows that I would have similar opinions on matters of great significance with those who think through these things, rather than following the ignorant, fear-based lockstep reactionaries of the poor, foolish, losing American Reich wing. Come on, Frank J, I am defeating you from a cave. Perhaps you and Boosh should smarten up, and listen to your betters.

Not until war profiteering becomes less lucrative. Cheney’s been a traitor, by any measure, for many years. Follow the money, starting with the Bush family’s well-documented ties to Hitler.

The efforts of Sheikh Sattar are largely responsible for the turn around in Al Anbar, he may not be perfect, but his efforts are making an impact.

  55. AtticusinPa Says:

Why would anyone be suprised at Bush’s ignorance of any subject important to a world leader? OPEC? APEC? What’s the difference. Austria? Australia? What’s the big deal. His people have said for six years that they make their own reality. So, shot in the back is an act of insurrection and counts, shot in the front is a mere crime and does not count. They just make it up. Do they even bother to tell him? He refuses to read newspapers and actually gloats of that fact. He knows only what he wants to know and so he knows nothing important. May God save the world from such men.

Yeshua (Jesus; the Messiah according to both Christians and Muslims, mind you) would today be at the head of the peace movement, attempting to stop these bastards slaughtering in his name.

This is the part I don’t understand. All the neoCONs call themselves good Christians and yet they support policies that would have horrified Jesus. They do the same with their attitude towards their neighbors. I really don’t think that Jesus’ motto would have been “I got mine now the hell with you”.

  58. bilbogaggins Says:

The efforts of Sheikh Sattar are largely responsible for the turn around in Al Anbar, he may not be perfect, but his efforts are making an impact.
    Comment by Another Chris

Please come back and tell us the same thing once the Sunni’s in that region turn around and use the weapons we have given them on us. I take it that you subscribe to the “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” theory. Unfortunately history has proven that this kind of thinking comes back and bites us in the butt.

  59. bilbogaggins Says:

Really. Bush would have been so much better off with an endorsement from Bin Laden like the Democrat party received.
    Comment by Frank J

Sorry Francine. The plan is to make the American people know that Osama likes the Democrats so that all the people Bush has terrified for the last 6 years will vote for a Republican. That’s what the Bush Crime Family did in 2004 when they released the “Osama” tape right before the election and the kool-aid drinking public bought it.

Problem for the Republicans is that the public has weaned themselves from the kool-aid and they aren’t buying it any longer.

  60. bilbogaggins Says:

Osama and Gore agree on global warming. Osama and Harry Reid agree on the war in Iraq…interesting.
    Comment by Frank J

Ok Francine, 85% of the people in this country agree with Gore on global warming and 67% of the people in this country agree with Reid on the “war” (occupation) of Iraq. So I guess that a large majority of Americans = Osama according to your thinking.

    H-Bombs Over Barksdale
    B-52 Flexing Nuclear Muscles
    By JAMES L. SECOR

“So. . .why was the B-52 flying to Barksdale with nuclear bombs? Dare we hazard a guess? Does anyone care?”

“Barksdale AFB is home of the mighty 8th Air Force, the only bomber war fighting headquarters. Go to their website and see them train for a real world air strike. The 8th Air Force carried out daily bombing raids in Europe during WWII; that is, they were responsible for the morally upright fire bombing of Dresden. To name one humanitarian exercise. On 13 August, Exercise Valiant Shield 2007, “the largest exercise of its kind in the Pacific,” ended eight days of “flying operations.” This is the air base that supplies air power over Afghanistan and Iraq. And, on 21 August, they repeated 12 May 1938 history by advancing “air power’s lethality” by intercepting a ship 1,000 miles off the east coast to showcase “the military’s ability to deter, dissuade or destroy maritime threats before they can harm U.S. citizens in the public eye.” Who attacks anybody by sea these days? What is 1,000 miles out in the Atlantic (only about 3,000 miles to Britain)? ”

  65. GSD Says:

In Bush world he can meet with Sunni warlords and negotiate with terrorists and give money and promises to people who kill American troops and that is considered OK.
