Deadline arrives for missing White House emails.

Today marks a key deadline set by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee for the White House to “turn over a report first requested three months ago about the White House’s problems with lost e-mail,” which was “generated by the still-unknown private contractor who claims to have ‘lost’ those 5 million White House e-mails.”

What time is the deadline and who will be frog-marched when it is ignored?

  2. po says:

In keeping in tune with the news of the day, I’m sure the surge in lawyers looking at the issue on behalf of the WH has resulted in some mixed progress. Perhaps in another 6 months, the WH will be able to provide select members of Congress with a draft version of this report and a classified presentation regarding the results.

How about we play this little game this way . . . you either produce the documents you were suppose to have kept, or we, the People, will presume you’ve destroyed them because they would be incriminating. It’s called spoilation. It’s a legal concept known to the lawyers in Congress. Oh, but that would resolve something. Can’t have that.

  3. Sean says:

    I care. :-)

Let’s get those e-mails. I’m very interested in them. Gov’t transparency is important no matter which party is in charge.

  4. po says:

Hey Dean CT, remember that when (R) changes to (D) at the end of the WH inhabitant. I’m sure you’ll all roll over nicely for Hillary in the GWOT, right? FU

  5. ptf says:

    Hell, it’s not that hard.

Maybe someone might want to ask this guy (click the link) about what he did as a contractor for the EOP?

Here’s the relevant part of his resume (publicly posted):

2003-2005 Systems Management Engineering, Inc. Washington, DC
    Business Solutions Manager
    • Developed business plans, conducted sales efforts, and worked on client projects.
    • Coordinated and wrote winning proposal for $2.5 million, 5-year contract with the Executive Office of the President of the United States.
    • Led team of high-level professionals in assessing business processes and technology of the White House, the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), and other EOP organizations.

    I mean, c’mon. This ain’t rocket science.

  6. Krazny says:

Or what? Reid will write another letter. Please sh!t or get off the pot.

  7. J Lewd says:

Comment by Dean CT: Stick one of your cum-stained socks in it, retard.

  8. hellinabucket says:

If our govt. will go to great lengths to find out about a bj in the WH, we can surely invest untold billions to get to the bottom of the violations that this administration is accused of.

Dean CT, you must believe that had to be written. wow.

This is one of the core issues that needs to be investigated to the fullest extent.

  9. J Lewd says:

Dean CT: You are truly an idiot. I imagine a zit-faced 14-year-old whenever I see your screen name. I imagine your parents were siblings. The only thing I can’t imagine is intelligent discourse in your posts.

Has congress hired a bounty hunter yet to find these lost missives?

  11. Leahy says:

let me get my letter-writin hand warmed up….

  12. po says:

Ah, Dean CT, that is the weakness in your thinking. Some day, some way, the (D) will replace the (R) and all these little games your CiC has played will come back to haunt you and yours.

It will be a sad day for all of you, that I know, having lived through this BS for 7 years now. Your tightie-whities will twist soooo much, you’re head will likely explode. As history has shown repeatedly: WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND. Swallow, baby. Enjoy it going down. Like most things, you’ll hate it coming up.

  13. DutchHenry says:

Funny how throughout Bush’s life that documents comes up missing.Folks remember his nat.guard records were missing,His violation of SEC rules on wall street missing,Drunk driving records missing now 5 million e-mails missing.
Demonstrates perfectly what kind of scum we have in the WH.

  14. Japaner says:

Maybe Sandy Berger has those emails stuffed down his pants?

How about Bush promises to release them after the next election ala Hillary Clinton?

  15. Japaner says:

As history has shown repeatedly: WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND. Swallow, baby. Enjoy it going down. Like most things, you’ll hate it coming up.

If the remote actually does occur and Obama wins the WH, I know I will be here watching the dems spin how positive it is that President Obama invaded Pakistan.

  16. po says:

Sandy Berger, Sandy Berger, Clinton Did It Too. So much for integrity, honesty and doing better than those who came before him, huh? I’ll take the Clinton-era’s ‘crimes” over this administration’s (or those of GHWB and Reagan) any day.

  17. dixie blood says:

You can bet those emails are not lost else the Repugniscums would toss the “contractor” under the bus!

This is possibly the best inroad to the complete corruption and it’s depth in this misAdministration. THE DEMOCRATS NEED TO LEAN HARD ON THIS ISSUE.

THIS IS THE MISSING LINK TO THE ENTIRE CORRUPTION OF THE PAST 6 YEARS!!!!!

  18. upside00 says:

Or maybe they were eaten by the gerbil after they were stuffed up Rove’s ass. And Gonzo went looking for them and lost his wristwatch.

  19. po says:

Sorry Japaner, Obama never said he would invade Pakistan. I do, however, remember the current inhabitant of the WH as stating anytime, anywhere OSB was wanted, dead or alive. Where’s his head on that silver platter, now? Oh yeah, in Pakistan, hanging with Tali, just like those good times in the summer of 2001. Go Cheney yourself.

  20. Jake D. says:

Good thing that Petraeus and Crocker are on TV all day long instead.

  21. DM says:

Moo. Time to write a strongly worded letter I guess.

Hey kids, just remember the next time someone punches you in the nose, steals your car, and drives away with your girl, that a strongly worded letter fixes everything.

Personally, I’d like to see Congress – all of them – hop in cabs and drive over to the White House, and march up the front lawn to get the emails. That would be the end.

If they did, Dubya would look out the WH window and take Barney and prozac Laura into the basement bunker and pull an Adolf!

  25. Zimzone says:

Maybe the missing e-mails are in Austria with ‘The OPECS’?

Bush could send his date, Condi, to go get them.

And what’s up with Laura’s neck? Whiplash from trying to get out of Gannon’s way?

  26. missmolly says:

Another deadline here. Another deadline passing with no action. So now what? Time to set a new deadline? Send the White House another strongly worded letter?

Hey, Congressional Dems — our patience is exhausted. We’re tired of this administration hiding and destroying public documents. We’re tired of deadlines, extensions, and strongly worded letters. And we’re REALLY tired of Bush and his people openly thumbing their noses at Congress and refusing to be accountable for anything they do. This administration has become the child who clearly will never obey a stern warning — some action must be taken.

Even a broken watch is right twice a day!

In this case Dean CT makes perfect sense when he says that neither Hillary nor Obama will win the 2008 presidential race.

If the Democrats do not nominate a white southern male, they will lose the electoral vote despite winning the popular vote.

The Republicans are scared of John Edwards, and are dreaming, praying, and hoping, that Hillary or Obama wins the nomination!

Yea, me too, but it is probably a fictional screenplay. Dubya is a chickenhawk so he would just pull a Tricky Dick instead, wave to the crowd, say “I am not an idiot” and head off to Paraguay where he would live like the trolls here …. in mom’s basement.

Right.. this is a pretty pathethic attempt to analogize a few DUPLICATES
of documents to original copies of millions of emails. Try again troll.

    >How about Bush promises to release them after the
    > next election ala Hillary Clinton?

Difference is Hillary has no legal obligation to either retain or release those documents. The stuff Bush is stonewalling is mandated to be retained by the Presidential Records act. And its being mandated by subpeana to be released. And if you wernt so stupid, you’d know that even if you can validly prevent a document from being released by claiming some sort of privledge, you have to provide the judge and party seeking disclosure a list of documents you witholding, and a basic description of said documents, and your justification for withholding them. The white house has done NONE of these things which are required prerequisites for claiming a document is privledged. They are thus in violation of the law, which of course means nothing to them..

    Try again trolls…

  40. Texasjuice says:

#33 I think you are right re: “white southern male…” on the DEM ticket. John E. plus Obama or Shillery as VP would win. Of course Shillery will never accept the VP post. Maybe a Shillery/Edwards ticket. She is just sooo divisive. I would vote for her even though I do not like her just to get rid of the Rethuglicans in the WH. I do think she would do better than Chimpya.

  54. E Pleb Neesta says:

What happens in 2009 if the repugs don’t manage to steal another election? Is it legal for the emails to be destroyed? (Not that a little thing like the law would stop them)

If a dem wins the presidency, will hse be able to look at these emails and all of the other documents from the Bush regime? Can they bring charges against anyone if documents show illegal actions? What if there’s a “smoking gun” document from Cheney saying “I know there are no WMD and SH wasn’t supporting/working with AQ and that he had nothing to do w/9/11.” Can that be used to bring war crimes charges? What about details of his Energy Policy meetings? Or of the no-bid KBR contracts? If there’re docs showing that money was subverted from needed war supplies (e.g. body and vehicle armor) to KBR inflated contracts, I would consider that to be the act of an enemy combatant. And once that’s done, their fate is at the whim of, say, Hillary’s unitary executive power.

If any of these things are possible then they will do anything to keep a democrat out of the WH. The stakes will just too high. I don’t think there’s any possibility they can destroy all of their incriminating documents in time.
