This morning, Brookings analyst Michael O’Hanlon published a column on National Review Online pre-emptively defending Gen. David Petraeus’ testimony to Congress about Iraq. He followed it up with an appearance on Laura Ingraham’s conservative radio show. As Matthew Yglesias points out, O’Hanlon appears to now be casting “himself out of the broad left-of-center community in favor of becoming a conservative movement propagandist whose salary just happens to be paid by Brookings.”

Isn’t O’Hanlon’s fifteen minutes of fame up yet? He is STILL trying to paint himself as a liberal and war critic who has finally woken up and seen the light, when he has been an Iraq war cheerleader all along.
This dog ain’t hunting no more.
September 10th, 2007 at 1:31 pmBut he’s an “administration critic”, right? Wow. If O’Hanlon says the surge is working…it must surely be working. Funny how he was embraced by the Right in a Lieberman minute. Dull tool.
September 10th, 2007 at 1:33 pmO’Hanlon is also a Princeton classmate of Petraeus,
and wrote a rather hysterical column in June attacking
Reid for questioning Petraeus.
Humorous reading, well worth it. Funny job he has.
September 10th, 2007 at 1:33 pmWonder who pays him.
Lots of Bush propaganda being foisted lately by stooges.
September 10th, 2007 at 1:34 pmI’ve heard that this wingnut was an “administration critic” over and over. Does ANYONE actually know WHAT he was critical of and WHEN?
September 10th, 2007 at 1:36 pmThis week the Bush pimps and sycophants will be out in full color! Don’t believe one thing you hear from any of them. They’re all propagandists and liars.
September 10th, 2007 at 1:39 pm#3 Maybe O’Hanlon and Petreus really “got it on” back then since Princeton was an all male school.
September 10th, 2007 at 1:40 pmBAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — Seven U.S. troops were killed near Baghdad early Monday in a vehicle rollover accident, U.S. officials told CNN. Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki speaks at a conference of Middle Eastern countries on Sunday.
Officials do not believe any hostile fire was involved. The exact location and the unit were not available as officials attempted to notify next of kin in the United States.
Yeah, I believe that! You knew any troop deaths today would be from “non-combat-related” causes. What did the vehicle rollover to kill 7 troops? A cliff? Or an IED.
September 10th, 2007 at 1:40 pmJay: Isn’t it amazing how transparent these morons become when the stakes are high and time is running out? Everyone expected this blathering bunch of propagandist buffoonery and they are so accommodating, aren’t they? It would be refreshing if they weren’t so idiotic and played this lockstep game so well.
September 10th, 2007 at 1:42 pmWhy is the left obsessed with who pays whose salary?
Is it any of their business?
No.

Because the Brookings Institute is a Right Wing Think Tank (an oxymoron if ever there was one) that is only concerned with the conservative core’s agenda and could care less about the soldiers and Iraqi civilians as long as the war machine continues to roll on and make a few more million for the defense contractors and Halliburton. THAT’S WHY

Why is bad for one to sell one’s body but perfectly ok for someone to sell their opinion and thus their soul?
How is someone who sells off their opinion for money NOT a prostitute?

Typical IslamoStalinist Remark.
September 10th, 2007 at 2:18 pmO’Hanlon & Billy Krisco are Butt Brothers.
September 10th, 2007 at 2:25 pmTypical IslamoStalinist Remark.
Which is it? Stalinist or Fascist? Or are you now going to tell me they’re the same thing?
You don’t really know anything do you?
September 10th, 2007 at 2:28 pmWell, at least you know alot more than I do, Mr. P.
September 10th, 2007 at 2:31 pmIn highschool we would have stuffed O’Hanlon in a smelly locker for the janitors to find.
September 10th, 2007 at 2:33 pmO’Hanlon can’t be the same age as Petreus…can he? He looks to be about 20, Petreus about 45…
Rummie is a Princetonian, too, and a sick one at that. Much of the twisted shit that has taken place at Gitmo and Abu Ghraib was ordered by Rumsfeld, Cheney, et.al. What a stain on a great University…
September 10th, 2007 at 2:34 pm21. Nice try, moron.
September 10th, 2007 at 2:36 pmLefty peace and non-violence, indeed!

Really, Lefty. Pretty far cry from calling for the gassing of judges or stringing up reporters from light poles.
perhaps threatening to give someoen a wedgie is now considered an act of terrorism… I dunno…
September 10th, 2007 at 2:46 pmyou morons can have this thread to your stupid selves. I have better things to do than argue with a bunch of immature dumbasses. Cya.
September 10th, 2007 at 3:02 pmGeneral Petraeus is talking to Congress about Iraq while the nutroots try to parse what he says with their chicken-sized brains. Conclusion: Petraeus bad!
Osama bin Laden, as always, would like to second their conclusion.
September 10th, 2007 at 3:05 pmO’Hannlon finally came out of the closet. No Surprise, He got caught doing what Sen Craig was looking to do. He has to come clean to validate and maintain his credibility. No one over on the left can ever really believe him, his statements or his reporting ever again. However, over on the right, they like being told that they are pretty and how much they are right and how much they are loved. The right likes it as long as they are being told”yes, I love you.” Who cares if he is gone? He is just extra weight that we on the left no longer have to carry.
