I doubt the validity and reliability of any such poll coming out of Iraq. Vague questions to citizens left without power most of the day, etc., how can this be taken seriously.

Wrong. The first solution is indeed in reference to Iraq, and is a weak threat about the 850 or so AQI fighters in Iraq. The second solution, however, was an abandoment of corporate-controlled democracy and globalization. The “I invite you to embrace Islam” quote comes from much later in the speech, after some bits where he talks about how Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are not opposed to each other. Never does he directly say “convert or we’ll kill you.

And before you twist my words around so you can call me an Islamo-Stalinist bin Laden defender, let me make completely clear that I support neither the man or his methods.

You raise an excellent point, Katy — instead of getting the point I was trying to make (how would you like it if somebody invaded your country and forced a way of life upon you that you didn’t want?), I may have just thrown kerosene on the fire of “the sky is falling! the sky is falling!” alarmists.
