McCain: I was right all along.
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) “said Tuesday that he was right from the start about the war strategy in Iraq. ‘For almost four years we pursued a failed policy in Iraq. … I condemned it, I was criticized by Republicans and others for doing so, and I saw it was doomed to failure and I argued for the strategy that is now succeeding,’ McCain said.” McCain has repeatedly proclaimed himself as “the greatest critic” of Bush’s Iraq strategy, even while endorsing “stay the course” from the very beginning.

Mcinsane was tortured in a North Vietnamese prison and he is not about to forget it. Would you like to be bombed? What would you do to a captured airplane pilot who has just dropped a 500 lb bomb on your family? Would you be kind to him? But, unlike those of us who thought the invasion itself was a stupid idea, he wanted to go in with many more troops. That could have been effective to accomplish whatever objective he had in mind, but it had one fatal flaw — we don’t HAVE that many troops. And we won’t, unless the draft is reinstated.
As far as his claim that the surge is working, he is just using the dog and pony shows to justify his position. Same old, same old.
