Bush and his gang of fools (military included) have now proven beyond ALL doubt that they are COMPLETELY DELUSIONAL! They have got to all be on some form of medication that only they have – thank you very much…
Hey, progressives! Don’t even bother clicking the link to read the slanted and propagandistic “summary” of the Petraeus testimony by the Democratic Caucus. I’m going to do you a favor by condensing and consolidating the important points of the Dem Caucus summary right here, so that you won’t have to trouble yourselves with the labor of clicking the link. Here’s the summary:
Screw Gen. BETRAY US (snicker, snicker!). May he burn in hell for being nothing but a PoS shill for the Bushitler policies of Iraqi rape, oil-theft, and colonization! Gen. BETRAY US was nothing but a pathological liar who denied US forces were killing women and children and destroying whole villages. He also had the gall to assert that US soldiers are patriots, but we at the Caucus know that they’re nothing but illiterate inbreds who joined the military out of lack of opportunity due to Bush’s tax cuts for the rich. We will now report to the Daily Kos and other far-left groups who OWN our party.
6 years after Bush promised ‘the people who knocked down these towers will hear from all of us’ Osama Bin Laden is still taunting the US with video tapes.
Heckuva job.
When will Brownie get appointed to Supreme Allied Commander?

I guess without Rove’s talking points they’re simply left to come up with their own ridiculous arguments. Sorry trolls, the Administration’s bull shit is so obnoxious even the average short term memory challenged, pay no attention to politics crowd is even becoming overwhelmed with the stench.
Why are the Democrats putting so much effort into these press releases? It’s as if they are trying to convince everyone that we need to get out of Iraq. Well, guess what — most of the country already wants us out of Iraq, and we’re trying to convince the Democrats. Please, Congressional Democrats, enough talk! Get us out already. We’re with you. Get to work!

Donald Rumsfeld, 3/7/03:. It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months.
4 and a half years later, or some 54 months later, or 9 FUs ago we started this dance.
The fat lady is singing, her feet bruised from the expectations, please, she wails, If you cannot dance the steps, or follow the course, for the love of God, stop!
I find it pathetic that the remaining members of the pro-war GOP have nothing more than the old rehashed talking points to fall back on. Inhoffe, especially, was acutely sickening and well rehearsed. They insist on drawing parallels to our own struggles for independence, but leave out that one important part… our freedom was hard won, and ours to do as WE pleased. We did not have an occupying force telling us what to do. Perhaps that is the biggest lesson, not for Iraqis, but for us. Freedom must be determined by the people of Iraq. Our biggest gift of freedom to Iraq is to let them go to build what THEY want. If we can’t do that, then we are all talk. Yes, of course we would like to protect them, and make up for what we have done, but perhaps our ideas of how to do that just are not right. Of course, that doesn’t secure the oil, but perhaps that should be the price we pay for the estimated millions dead and displaced.
You can also check out Keith Olberman’s show on msnbc.com. Just follow the links for the video of his commentary. And BTW, it was awesome! Keith really hit the nail on the head tonight. I love this guy!
Based on the piss poor performance of all these people, I’ll be voting for Ron Paul, the only candidate on either side of the aisle who genuinely and concretely talks about withdrawing from Iraq and ceasing US imperialist forays.
Now why would Pelosi speculate on 10 more years? The Dems will probably win the presidency and the Congress on the promise of ending the war! The Dems are going to bring the troops home, … right? This republic seems to be missing that “people power” part of the democracy puzzle. The bold and stupid play fast and loose with the tools of democracy with impunity, tools like the Constitution, our rights and the truth. The press and the citizens seemed to have gone to sleep. The military is conveniently out of the country and Congress fiddles while the country burns. Pelosi may be strategically correct in the go-along attitude she’s adopted, but the heart of it is wrong. The center assumption is rotten. Pelosi should leave the handwringing at home and leave us not one doubt that the nightmare of Iraq will soon be over. Take the stance that the war is over as soon as the Democratic president takes office next term and work back from there. Start the planning now. Fund withdrawal now so that the deed can be accomplished with alacrity. Pelosi has shown she can take a stand but now she needs to take a step. Fund the exit only. WE are holding the knife in the side of the Iraqi people, festering, deadly and humiliatiing to them. WE cannot make them love each other by gunbarrel. The best thing we can do is remove our knife. Stop running from our responsibility. Bring our troops, all of them, home.
“Six months” is just another one of the many, many lies made by the Bush administration. The Bush administration isn’t about to “cut and run” from their consistent policy of lying to the American people. They prefer to “stay the course” when it comes to lying about everything.
Yea, when the ragheads hit DC you VERY FUNNY leftist are going to have shit all over your faces; but then a shitty face liberal looks no different than a raghead. Then what are all these poor, underprivileged folks without health insurance and welfare going to do? Won’t matter then will it? Maybe the ragheads will have pity and slit your throat really fast or stick a grenade up your great sphincter, YO!!!!
Anybody see Jon Stewart last night? He had a great segment where he showed lines from Patreus’ testimony intercut with lines from Bush’s speech at the APEC summit in Australia. Interesting that the “independent” Patreus report when shown side by side w/ the Bush speech have undeniable similarities in both content and emphasis. A few words changed here and there but incredible how the two men “independently” came up with almost the same bullshit talking points. Almost as if they shared the same speechwriter.
Here’s an idea… since it is pretty obvious that a) we are not going to be out of Iraq by Jan 20, 2009, and b) G W Bush, Dick Cheney, and many of the others who decided this was “the right thing to do” will have a lot of free time after that date, and c) they believe so adamantly we should “stay the course” in Iraq…. Perhaps we should send them to Iraq as ground-pounders and let them decide after six months whether they are still so incredibly confident and sure of Iraq’s future. I am trying to “think outside the Green Zone” on this one.
We could stay in Iraq for another 227 years and turn it into a second “United States” in the heart of the Middle East, but that’s not our job. Yet, the Republicans would have us do just that. Every time they claim, “We can’t leave now, just look at the progress we’re making!”, that is EXACTLY what they are doing. Every inch of progress gives them justification for staying longer and doing more.
And is so often the case, every setback is ALSO a reason to stay: “We can’t leave the country in this condition! The consequences would be catastrophic!”
We’ve seen this for years: “Increased fighting” translates to the “last throes” of a desperate insurgency on the brink of collapse, while decreased violence is likewise a sign that “victory is soon at hand”.
Yes, and when you have no idea how to wield political power (and you’re afraid of your own spineless shadows) you have to content yourself with “nice summaries”
