Bigfoot is either a troll or a total twit. Even if increased solar actvity is to blame for global warming, humans are adding to the strain by burning fossil fuels. I watched Singer and Avery on TV trying to defend their stupid book and the line they had was 'humans aren't powerful enough to affect the planet'.

Maybe total numbskulls can eagerly swallow such puerile crap, it makes for comforting bedtime reading. Bigfoot says liberals are reading Chicken Little - what's he reading? Rip Van Winkle....

Yup, let's all go to sleep then...

Gday! Especially to Bigfoot and to Dick Cheney. I am following this debate from Sydney, the effects of global warming and pollution into the atmosphere are already causing catastrophic change in the climate here in Australia. And the ozone hole is causing rapid growth in skin cancer. Come here and you will feel it. Maybe you don't care when it is not hitting the US, but I care. It is a well documented fact that USA is the biggest contributor of greenhouse gases, and has been so for a very long time. Please remember that USA has been capable of this devastating effect although it only represents 5 % of the global population. China has just stated to pollute big time, but they are already talking about their responsibility with regards to Kyoto. Other countries have taken action, every nation has ratified the Kyoto protocol except for USA and Australia. What is so good with Kyoto? It provides economic incentive to be innovative, to find better solutions for the future. Mankind is innovative, we must find a way to wake up the people who prefers to be asleep. I have a 6 year old daughter. That's why.

Being quite harsh, not harsh to save this planet...Fuel ration cards should be issued out to impliment the mission for survival for this planet and people. Each card will allow that individual/family a specific amount of fuel within a period of time. This will help reduce the amount of carbon dioxide damaging the ozone layer and the quality of air. Also it will result to smaller vechicle usage in time... Smart definately works.

"If you understood as much about this subject as you seem to think you do, you’d understand that once climate trends are in place, they are very hard to turn around. The effects of global warming will be with us long after oil has ceased to be an abundant commodity. But, what I was talking about was economic disaster - a huge depression and a world-wide economic collapse - because right now we have no alternative to fossile fuel for moving things around the globe and around our country. You want to gloss over that - fine. Be an idiot.

Remember Chicken Little?

Jack Ripper and liberal ideology: All doom and gloom, all the time.

Thankfully, history proves you wrong.

I like it warm: "Besides, the Farmers I am sure would prefer an extended growing season. Which means more food. Lower prices. Excellent."

God that's just so stupid that it hurts. I don't think farmers in the midwest are going to be happy that their fruited plains and grassy fields will turn into desert. There isn't a long growing season in the desert, numbnuts.

By the way, unless they come up with some pretty potent fuel cell technology or a small fusion engine of some sort for powering big ships and trucks, 20 years from now this thing we call "globalization" is flat over.

We WILL need to do our own manufacturing again. We should start now.

Bigfoot, the corporate apologist: "Man made global warming is an unproven, and probably unprovable, theory. Simple as that."

Simple minds look for simple answers. The truth is sometimes hard to confront for cowardly people and it's almost always more complex than simple minds can handle.

Bigfoot, the corporate apologist: "Exxon pays it’s shareholders.

Al Gore pays himself."

Would you care to compare Al Gore's entire take from speaking engagements, his movie and his books to last year's compensation package Exxon paid to its CEO? The CEO's pay dwarfs Gore's total compensation and Gore is giving all proceeds from his movie to charity.

Bigfoot, the optimist: "Apparently you aren’t able to think long term. If you are right, and fossil fuels will soon run out, then I guess the whole problem of man made global warming through the burning of fossil fuels is simply going solve itself, correct?"

If you understood as much about this subject as you seem to think you do, you'd understand that once climate trends are in place, they are very hard to turn around.

"Right, Bigfoot, it’s childish to believe that our society will run out of a finite, non-renewable resource. And, I suppose in your mind, the adult way to think would be to assume that this finite resource will magically be there for us forever. And, if you find yourself speeding towards a cliff that you can see in the distance, your suggestion would be to speed up, right?

Apparently you aren't able to think long term. If you are right, and fossil fuels will soon run out, then I guess the whole problem of man made global warming through the burning of fossil fuels is simply going solve itself, correct?

Look, you liberal fear mongers are constantly after ethereal boogeymen who never seem to materialize, while you ignore the real boogeymen who actually do maim and kill people. That's your problem, not mine. And you are welcome to lose sleep over it. I choose not to.

Thinking people don't buy the constant theories of imminent disaster. They didn't believe it 40 years ago when "The Population Bomb" predicted disaster and mass starvation due to overpopulation by the late 1970's. They didn't believe in the global cooling of the 1970's. And they don't believe the idea that we are going to be burning up through global warming any time soon.

If you folks feel the need to constantly be under the gun, feel free to fill that need. Believe what you will. The rest of us aren't obligated to follow you into your own dark ages.

Man made global warming is an unproven, and probably unprovable, theory. Simple as that.

They didn’t believe in the global cooling of the 1970’s. And they don’t believe the idea that we are going to be burning up through global warming any time soon.

If you folks feel the need to constantly be under the gun, feel free to fill that need. Believe what you will. The rest of us aren’t obligated to follow you into your own dark ages.

Man made global warming is an unproven, and probably unprovable, theory. Simple as that.

"This moronic argument fails to discredit the science behind the consensus of man-made global warming.

Your first, (but not only) mistake is assuming there is a consensus on global warming.

Most liberals believe there is a consensus on everything, as long as the consensus agrees totally with the liberal point of view.

Unfortunately, the whole idea of a consensus blows up in liberal faces when the dissenters are taken into account. There are plenty of scientists who are skeptical of man-made global warming. Once again, liberals will merely ignore the skeptics, and hope they will go away. Kind of like ostriches who stick their head in the sand...if they can't see it, it's not a part of their world.

In the meantime, I've got to go fill up my motorhome.

"He’s talking about Exxon’s profits. That’s NET INCOME, not GROSS INCOME. Profits are what a company reports, AFTER paying all their exspences.

And who gets to keep the profits, Einstein?

Exxon pays it's shareholders.

Al Gore pays himself.

#70 <em>Whether global warming is real or not (sure, it’s real) doesn’t matter. The fear/concern is very real and there is a whole class of hucksters waiting to take advantage of the situation for their own agenda. Just do what you can as an individual. Don’t run to big government and big corporations (same thing) to help you. They will only help themselves.

I do think Global Warming is real, and it is caused mostly by humans, at least this time in our history. Now you say not to depend on corporations or the government. Well, we as individuals cannot accomplish something on such a large scale as Climate Change Reversal. We need either the government or corporations to do this. The question is this....Which is more representative of the will of the people? Not this current administration and not Exxon Mobil/Lockheed. A government that follows Constitutional Law is the answer. Corporatism was and always will be Fascism, and you can't put perfume on that pig.

Whether you want to call it NWO or globalism or corporate greed, there is a class of people who want to control populations locally through global organizations like the UN and WTO. Sure, you could spin complicated conspiracy theories, or you could just read some of the minutes of their meetings or some of their memos or policy reports. The way a lot of these things read, it sounds like they want (gasp) more control (power). Then they dress it up in environmentalism and bang, it's politically correct and publicly acceptable.

Google Agenda 21 or UN Carbon Tax.
http://habitat.igc.org/agenda21/index.htm
Look at the section "Land"
http://habitat.igc.org/agenda21/a21-10.htm
This is what it's all about. Central planning and central land management from a single global control center.

http://www.globalwarming.org/node/680
So the carbon tax is supposed to pay for development in poor countries. (But won't that lead to more carbon in the atmosphere?) Ah, but first it funnels through other hands. It might be something like the IMF now. Everyone sure likes helping poor people. Funny how hundreds of billions are spent, yet the people are still poor. Hmm, how'd the facilitators of the program get so rich?

It's a scam.

So did I just hear that the Northwest passage is becoming ice free? My car radio sort of blows but there was something along these lines. How many signs must there be before the denial recedes as the tides rise?

Libertarians seem to think that Global Warming Science is a "New World Order" plot to take away our land and tax us. This New World Order takes the shape of everything evil on this planet...It is a totally paranoid vision. If anything, this NWO wants Globalization through commercial means. Truthfully, Libertarians are Conservatives who want to get laid and smoke reefer.
