Albright: Bush ‘must think we’re all idiots.’

Yesterday in Iowa, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said that Iraq will “go down in history as the greatest disaster in American foreign policy. That means that I am acknowledging it is worse than Vietnam.” She added, “I don’t think I have ever seen the world in such a mess.”

So Madeleine, how ’bout that Rice and Bean combo?

  2. bilbogaggins says:

Of course he thinks we are all idiots. The problem is, he doesn’t get the fact that HE is the idiot.

God, can we survive until January 2009?

  3. Rick says:

Why hasn’t Bush the Elder chimed in on how much of a mess his kid had made of this country?

“Madeline Albright was asked whether the over half a million children killed by the [Iraqi] sanctions were “worth it.” Her response was: “It’s a hard choice, but I think, we, think, it’s worth it.” [60 Minutes, May 11, 1996]“

  5. BARTLEBEE says:

Madeline Albright was and is one of the most well respected stateswoman in the world.

But now that she criticizes Bushy and his trainwreck in Iraq, to the goons in here and the ones who were downtown today, she’s just another liberal moonbat.

    Hmmm.

  6. Kasandra says:

Madam Albright is more of an American then W could ever hope to be.

  7. BARTLEBEE says:

And she said the sanctions were worth enacting. We didn’t kill the children. Saddam did. And I might disagree with her on that. But that doesn’t make her wrong about Bush, and it doesn’t change the fact that for years she was widely respected throughout the international community, and was one of the key players in the preace between Britain and Northern Ireland.

Madeline Albright is a smart lady, and if she says the Iraq war will go down in history as the greatest military blunder in US history, then you can take that to the bank.

I agree with you BARTLEBEE, what’s dangerious is the fact that bull shit bush is in office untill 2009 and no certainty the bank’s, our country and the world can hold out with out total distruction untill then….If only the dem’s would get their act together, untill they do were all screwed….Blessings

  11. troqua says:

A Secretary of State who actually practiced diplomacy, this is how Ms. Albright was introduced the WTO Conference in Seattle:

“By training she is a scholar; by career a diplomat and public servant; by temperament, conviction, and life experience, an unswerving advocate of the principles of … freedom, fairness, opportunity, the rule of law, and open society…She has played a central part in, among many other historic events, the rebirth of freedom throughout Central Europe.”

    and further:

“Accomplishments during Albright’s tenure as secretary of state include: NATO’s successful campaign to halt ethnic cleansing in Kosovo; promotion of peace in the Middle East and the Balkans; reduction of nuclear dangers from Russia and North Korea; expansion of democracy in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America; and the growth of trade in the Americas and in Africa.”

We can argue about whether or not her accomplishments made lasting positive impact on the world, but one thing we know for sure. She didn’t spend her tenure shopping for shoes.

  12. BARTLEBEE says:

Howdee Sharon. Yea, its scary to be sure. I’m betting Bush’s presidency won’t last the year though. I have a feeling that they’re gonna push him out. I could be wrong of course, and I have no evidence to base that on other than historically any other president would’ve been gone by now, but its just a feeling I have.

Plus it looks like he plans on invading Iran, and I just don’t think congress will let him do that.

Either way I think we’ll survive, but by 09, if this clown is still running the show, the countries going to be in a real mess.

  13. redneck, redsedate says:

Y’all talk a big name calling game, but you won’t do shit. Your just running the clock out thinking youll get a big fat dem payout in 2008.

  14. BARTLEBEE says:

Think about it. For 8 years under Bill Clinton, the country prospered. Jobs o plenty. His capital gains tax relief in the housing market made real wealth availabe to anyone willing to work for it abundent. The enconomy grew, and we were all proud to be Americans. (until he diddled Monica, lof course, some of us were still proud, lol). He brought peace to Northern Ireland and Isreal and raised the quality of life in America to make us the envy of the entire world. EVERYONE loved America when Bill Clinton was president. Every nation, kindred and tongue just thought we were the coolest.

Then, the Flordia fiasco, and the Supreme Court named George Bushs son President, and it immediately went to sh#t. In fact, when Bill Clinton handed Bush the keys to the White House, he also handed him an budget surpless of over a trillion dollars. And what did the numbskull Bush do with it?

Why he divided it up into tiny, insignificant amounts, and handed out everyone with a job. And just like that, the money it took Bill Clinton 8 years to save, was squandered overnight, by a cheap, political stunt.

I don’t know whether Bush thinks we’re fools or not, but one things certain. He sure is.

  15. big papa says:

I am SO PISSED at Ms Albright…

…in several interviews where she had the opportunity to tell the truth…

…she chose the “diplomatic” route and gave Bushiva the benefit of the doubt…

    …a definite No! No!

…and NOW she realizes how fu*ked up these people are…

    …I know she’snot the first…

…but I’m constantly AMAZED at the people who…

    …won’t go for Bushiva and L’il Dick’s political jugulars….

    Bush is right!

    As H.L. Mencken said:

“As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

The plain folks of the land have reached their heart’s desire, and the White House is adorned by Bush.

  17. Godless SOB says:

You redneck, redsedate (did you mean redstate – even though sedate is more appropriate!!!)

I hate to agree with you, but you are right! Democrats and Progressives don’t know how to fight. Clinton (the Mr.) knew how to fight. The dems in power today are pussies.

Repugnicans attack, and the dems try to take the “high road.” What they really need to do is fire back with Overwhelming Force.

But they don’t know how, becuause they’re pussies. I’m on their side, but I still think they’re pussies.

Get some BALLS democrats! Or if you don’t have or want BALLS, get some BACKBONE!!!

Dems with backbone would shut the government down, making this war and the presidunce’s failures a Front Page Issue.

And I thank jesus christ for the inspiration to write this post… Hallie-lube-yah.

  18. BARTLEBEE says:

    Mark. You’re an idiot.

Bush is a fool, and his presidency is a trainwreck. And the only consolation is knowing that morons like you will have to live with knowing what fools you were for the rest of your worthless lives. Hopefully you won’t have to suffer long.

  19. BARTLEBEE says:

And yes. The democrats in power have been spineless wimps.

History will record their failures right alongside of Bush’s trainwreck of a presidency.

  20. Mugsy says:

I smiled a huge smile when I heard that. Rarely do members of one administration openly criticize the sitting administration… and if they ever do, they sugar-coat it. So when Albright being so candid was a shocking moment. :)

It will, of course, be a strongly worded letter that politely expresses the disapproval of the senate. Perhaps they will pass a “sense of the senate” resolution that asks for an adminstration offical to come down to congress and explain why it bombed Iran, at the whitehouse’s conviences of course. But I doubt congress would go that far….

    Comment by katy — September 15, 2007 @ 9:54 pm

Were you effective in stopping the war? Did you prevent the repeal of the estate tax? Could you stop Americans from torturing other citizens? Did you vote for Democrats who took impeachment off the table?

WE have allowed the Constitution of the United States to become a meaningless document.

WE have not taken to the streets en masse to protest the actions of those who have bankrupted this country both financially and morally.

WE have not arisen in armed insurrection against those who have usurped our government.

“I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical.” Thomas Jefferson.

Do you know what it takes to change this world?

If so, why are you not doing it?

And, if you are doing it, namaste.

“America needs Hillary Clinton, because we are in a mess,” she concluded.

Here’s Hillary advocating the same Bush policy that madeline laments back in 2003:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYATbsu2cP8

Ms. albright; Bush may think you’re an idiot, only because you have given him sufficient cause.

By the way, as a former Sec of State; why not get some class.

    Comment by BARTLEBEE — September 15, 2007 @ 7:06 pm”

Just as the U.S. is not currently causing the sectarian violence in Iraq, Iraqis and Iranians are.

Funny how you give a Democrat a pass on the innocent deaths caused by the foreign policy of Clinton and Albright, while you deride the foreign policy of Bush and Rice…foreign policies that are nearly identical.

Furthermore, Albright is stumping for Hillary Clinton now, so she’d better be singing the Clinton’s tune again if she expect to get back into power in another Clinton administration…

    Now there’s a scary thought!

    Comment by O. Bigfoot — September 16, 2007 @ 12:47 am

It’s scary for you, because your treasonous big oil suckups are all going to be exposed as the antiAmerican scum they are. American troops have killed thousands, and destabilized an area that was under control for many years, leading directly to a million deaths. This is quite different from Saddam’s games with the UN; this is mass-murder by George Bush and Exxon-Mobil. We don’t expect the sociopaths of the right to care about anybody but their own greedy selves, but your facts are non-existent, and your opinions inhuman and godless. You are a thoughtless, reacionary tool for those who care not a whit for you, and a very poor excuse for an American. Your family must be thoroughly ashamed of you, as all good citizens should be.

  100. Marquise says:

Are we w/ the idiot or against him? Some others call called him the devil. Well, for me he is an idiot devil. Send him to Guantanamo…

  101. DreamCrusher says:

Love it when Clinton folks lie through their teeth. You’ve never seen the world such a mess, Albright? Really? Really?

Uh, I mean, eh, you know, were you alive during the Cold War? The Iran-Iraq war? The war in Afghanistan where over a million people were killed just so that the Taliban could take over? China after WWII? Everything else that was going on during Vietnam?

No? Don’t remember any of that?

Albright, you must think that everyone else is an idiot not to know that you are talking out of your ass.

Now it has emerged that Condoleezza Rice, the secretary of state, who has been pushing for a diplomatic solution, is prepared to settle her differences with Vice-President Dick Cheney and sanction military action.

    DreamCrusher:

Albright was born on May 15, 1937. I guess her parents never told her about the Great Depression.

  108. Jake D. says:

From 1936 to 1939, Albright’s family lived in Belgrade, and in 1939 they fled to London. Many of her Jewish relatives in Czechoslovakia were killed in the Holocaust, including three of her grandparents.
She and her parents again fled again when the Communists assumed power over Czechoslovakia, emmigrating to the United States of America in 1948. I guess all of that was a “piece of cake” compared to the world today . . .

  109. Jake D. says:

Off to church now. Play nice.

  110. Encouleru says:

Bush is correct ! I would estimate there is around 60 million idiots in the US,, uneducated, just food, sex and violence for a curriculum, and the innate naivety of a rabble who believes the mass slaughter and ethnic cleansing for oil after invading a sovereign nation that never attacked is some WAR.. its an oil grab , bush doesnt give a shit about you; he and the others want money from the oil.

They also believe that while they can solicit prostitutes, male anonymous sex in toilets abuse and corrupt young pages in Congress, they think if they go to a church (another sexual predator haven), that their crimes and hypocrisy will be absolved.
The wall needs to be built along the NORTHERN borders of the states.!

  111. razzle says:

Bush’s Legacy: The Worst President EVER in the History of the US.

He’s hoping “we’re all idiots” because the other side of the coin is that we are not and we will hold every Repuke responsible for creation of this ‘HUGE MESS’.

Out with all Repuke incumbents in 08! And then again in 10 so we can effectively “clean house”.

  112. razzle says:

The only “idiots” buying Bush’s brand of drivel at this point would be the 27% (and rapidly sinking) Repukes in this country.

It’s time that we initiated a “thank you day” on the 11th of each month to send every Repuke in Congress and every Repuke in our communities a “thank you note” for helping to create this mess we now call our country under Bush, their “War President”….aka “the Decider”. hahahah!

It’s a way to remind these “fascist kool-aid drinking misanthropes” that it’s them who made this horrendous mess and they are incapable of correcting it. It’s beyond hope so we need to send a very sarcastic “thank you” to each individual to “aided and abetted” this dictator to destroy this country.

  113. Briseadh na Faire says:

Interesting. Blaming Sanctions for the deaths of children in Iraq.

Sanctions worked. They prevented Saddam from rebuilding his stockpiles of WMD’s.

Now, did children die because of the Sanctions? Or did they die because Saddam hoarded resources for himself and the ruling elite?

If you put forward the argument that children died because of Sanctions, therefore the world should not issue sanctions, you remove the only non-violent method to get a renagade regime to behave.

With non-violent methods no longer available, the only option is war. Which, of course, feeds into the hands of the war profiteers.

The price of fear, greed, intolerance and hatred is millions upon millions of deaths of innocent children, women and men. Yet we are still willing to pay that price, hence we cling to fear, greed, intolerance and hatred.

  114. bilbogaggins says:

Hey Mr. Big Foot in Mouth:

Can you name ONE accomplishment Ms. Rice, Bush’s Secretary of State has made in her entire tenure?

Madeline Albright is a true patriot. Bush, Chaney, Rice, et al are traitors and should be brought to justice.

  115. bilbogaggins says:

Plus it looks like he plans on invading Iran, and I just don’t think congress will let him do that.
Either way I think we’ll survive, but by 09, if this clown is still running the show, the countries going to be in a real mess.
    Comment by BARTLEBEE

Problem is that Bush doesn’t think he needs Congress’ approval to bomb Iraq. He has already moved five nuclear warheads “accidentally” to the air force base that is the staging base for flights to the middle east. I fear that unless Congress does something NOW to forbid him to bomb Iran, Bush may just start World War III.

My only hope is that the military will refuse to obey his order to nuke Iran. I read recently that top generals have said that they will refuse any order to nuke Iran.

Sorry Jake the Flake, wrong again. They had a permit for 10,000 and crowd estimates everywhere except for Faux Noise and conservative talking heads had the crowd at 10,000.

  117. Mr. President says:

From AP (I guess they are “conservative” now too):

“Several thousand anti-war demonstrators marched through downtown Washington on Saturday, clashing with police at the foot of the Capitol steps where more than 190 protesters were arrested.

    . . .

About 13 blocks away, nearly 1,000 counterprotesters gathered near the Washington Monument, frequently erupting in chants of “U-S-A” and waving American flags.

Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Robert “Buzz” Patterson, speaking from a stage to crowds clad in camouflage, American flag bandanas and Harley Davidson jackets, said he wanted to send three messages.

“Congress, quit playing games with our troops. Terrorists, we will find you and kill you,” he said. “And to our troops, we’re here for you, and we support you.”

  118. WDRussell says:

**well, just wait 18 more months- the left wing pres and congress will be quick to solve global warming, illegal immigration, terroism, national debt, social security, health insurance for everyone. ***
No Kim, they probably won’t solve any of them. I do hope they take some positive steps instead of making them all worse like George the Bloodthirsty and his gang of criminals.

Madeleine was just wearing her Capt Obvious cape. The invasion and occupation was the single stupidist policy decision any president ever made.

  119. Mr. President says:

“[T]there IS around 60 million idiots” and “stupidIst”?

  120. barfly says:

“Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Robert “Buzz” Patterson, speaking from a stage to crowds clad in camouflage, American flag bandanas and Harley Davidson jackets, said he wanted to send three messages.”

It’s still illegal to wear representations of the flag. Nice to see how little “Buzz” respects the law, and the flag he was fighting for, by speaking to this bunch of cowards in flags and harley jackets. Like wearing a harley jacket is gonna scare anybody. These guys wear suits to work, and dress up like real bikers on the weekends.

  121. barfly says:

“Terrorists, we will find you and kill you,” he said”

Yeah. “We” meaning the troops. These jokers wouldn’t be caught within a thousand miles of a battle zone.

Oh – looks like Hitler’s girlfriend is taking back what she once said about Sadam. What a pig, little Maddy is. AND she’s working with that traitor.

OK – TP folks. Your the issue now, not Hillary and Maddy. You folks took your party too far to the left by viciously attacking Petraous. Now, watch your poll numbers go down like your truth standards have.

    TP = ENEMY PROPOGANDA.

What’s a “renagade regime” As far as I can remember, G(J)eronimo earned the title and my admiration. Whose interest must you serve before you are spared? Is it the US, Israel? If so, why?

  124. upright left says:

“And she said the sanctions were worth enacting. We didn’t kill the children. Saddam did.”

We aren’t doing the majority of the killing in Iraq. Insurgents/terrorists are.
