I was able to get the comment above to show up on this forum only after I replaced the f-words with f***. The first time I tried to post, with the f-words spelled out, the post got blocked … the whole god-damned thing!

-They also cut Ray Romano for about as long as they cut Sally. According to what I read, his comment was not at all political, and contained only one naughty word. They made enough of a cut of him that I had no idea what he said, until I read about it later. But, the meaning of what Sally said was clear to me, even though they cut some of it (I knew where she was going with it, based on the context.

-Several of you mention that they could have cut only the bad word(s) she said. Do you know technically how they go about doing any of this? I don’t. But I’m pretty sure that the precision possible when dealing with a recording is not possible during a live broadcast. They’re probably more interested in covering their a** than anything else.

and suggesting that it indicates that what Sally Field said is permitted by the FCC, you are wrong. First, Sally said “god-damned”, not “god damn it”. Second, these things are taken on a case-by-case basis. There are cases where the use of “f***”, “m*th*rf*****”, and “f*** ‘em” have been found not indecent. By the way, the reference to “God damn it” is in footnote 37 of the FCC document — there is no sub-section 37.

It saddens me to see the lack of facts and reasoning displayed by so many people. It really does.

But why do liberal Hollywood actors think their acceptance speeches should be turned into political speeches?

Wonder what would happen to an actor’s career if they turned their acceptance speech into an anti-abortion one? What if Sally Fields had decided to turn her speech into something about all the mothers who decide to kill their own children before they are born? What would you guys be saying then?

Can we put a stop to the censorship in a democracy that “has freedom of speech”? Why should we need to? Well only if you want to shove it down Iraq’s (how many others) throat like our government does this censorship (how many others) to us? It’s the democracy part that doesn’t work with corruption, so thick and they have as much money to do anything they want if they don’t like something or want some of it. Goddamn government telling us McCarthy was right only if you agreed with him, deep throat was obscene and they needed a study “to see if how we get to this crappy world today” is bad for us. Someday humans will grow up and figure it out too late, like most accidents they react to. That’s you average Joe… It’s not global warming, it’s cold today, and can we make them dumber Bush, Clinton etc? Can you tell I have no new world to escape to go but want to make it better for all in the USA and obviously not our Politicians that “represent” us? Well I have good intentions and could care less at this point. Actions by our politicians speak as a picture is, a 1000 words they probably won’t let me say about what they haven’t done.

I’m sure that more words are obscene because Jesus Christ is the lord’s name in… can Bush finish that? Opps…if you were offended write the people who censor so we can be free again. The cold war was better!

As an American citizen her opinion is as valid as anyone’s and more valuable than the Kristol’s, Perle’s, Pollack’s, Lieberman’s, etc., etc., etc. of this nation.
