You are correct, Sodom was destroyed for their inhospitality towards the visitors (those bringing the word of God, if you will), not because of their wicked, wicked ways.

This is a common misconception spread by liberals to deflect attention from the sin of homosexuality. ;)

I believe there will always be another conclusion, just around the corner.

I do these. Apparently the difference is that I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God.

Do these does seem appropriate to me. After all, Christians believe the God is the creator of all we know. I’d call that down right mysterious.

It seems you are stuck on the authority issue with regards to belief.
Implying you will only feel secure if there is an authority to dictate your belief.

Nebulousness is a wonderful thing.
Mystery, and an acceptance of mystery, is a very practical vehicle for the consciousness to continue its evolution.
It provides the question of why, and what if.

It’s the religious dogma which preaches the world is flat, was created in a week, and you’d better do what I say or you will perish, if not at the hands of my disciples, then at the hands of another made up fantasy creature just like me.

In the present age, we have extremists at polar ends of two popular religions who are wreaking most of the havoc in the world.

Namely the Christianists and the Islamists.

My perception is that there are many spritual people who peruse and comment here.
Please do not confuse sprituality with religiosity.

If you have the assumption that simply because someone does not believe what you believe, that they have no belief.

My experience with rigidly entrenched religiosity is that its adherents are shouting so loudly what they believe in, it is impossible for them to hear anothers beliefs.

This is what I think I see on TP. Lots of opinions. Little real belief. Almost no authority. The U.S. Constitution seems to be invoked much more often that the Bible as the authority.

For me, in contrast to my above question, believing in Jesus Christ and the Bible is the choice for me.

I find it a very satisfying choice.

You’ve obviously spent some time in learning an end run around every faith based flaw in the christianist tradition.

This might be a explanation for what you’ve seen me post today, but I don’t think this is the end of the story.

What you see is contrast. For me I decided somewhere along the line that you either belief in something, or you believe in nothing.

How many people posting on TP really believe anything? Most TP posters know what’s wrong with everything, but they don’t have much to offer in contrast. Only criticisms.
