Bush: Condi is smarter, but ‘look at who’s the president.’

At his press briefing today, President Bush poked fun of Condoleezza Rice, his Secretary of State, pointing out that while she may have a PhD, she’s still not President of the United States. Instead, Bush, who was a “C student,” is:

I remind people that, like when I’m with, Condi, I say she’s the Ph.D. and I’m the C student and just look at who’s the president and who’s the adviser.

Watch it:

When Bush spoke to Yale University in 2001, he told the graduating students, “And to you ‘C’ students, you too can be president of the United States.”

Yeah , all you need is a father who is an ex-president and appointed SCOTUS judges and are beholden to the horseshit GOP , and you too can gain the presidency illegally like I did.

I've been saying since November of 2000:

The United States is the greatest country in the world because here, no matter how stupid you are, you can still grow up to be president. What other country can say that?

    God bless America.

They tried hard on the "Mandella" thread, but fell flat.

I think they are dosing up on the koolaide before trying again.

  28. Joneser Says:

Yep or if you odn't study hard you can get "stuck" in iraq... like our soldiers right Kerry? I love how all of a sudden being a C student matters to you guys. There was a time you all nuanced and said you can't judge someone's intelligence based on their grades... After all that would mean John Kerry was unfit too... hmm even Ted Kennedy... I guess its all about the teachers right?
You'd think it was the end of the world and we all should put on some black Nike Cortez's, drink some Kool Aid, tunr the lights out, and wait for the comet to take us home.

  29. LeftWind Says:

What a prepubescent fratass! Please God, may the next election put the grownups back in charge. And in the meantime, may this idiot and his cronies not be allowed to destroy this country beyond repair!

    Katy,

Salon War Room has a brief article on the vote -

72: Members of the U.S. Senate -- the same body that couldn't manage a vote Wednesday on habeas corpus rights for detainees or time off for troops -- who voted today in favor of a resolution condemning "personal attacks on the honor and integrity of Gen. Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces."

\/\/ made this same tired joke when talking about Cheney.

  33. A Patriot Acting Says:

This idiot is actually PROUD of his stupidity. Someone mentioned on a previous thread that a C- at Yale is refered to as a "gentleman's C". Meaning that, as a legacy/skull and bones member a C grade is normally doled out to potential failing students so as not to bring down the collective GPA of the school and as a "bone" thrown to said legacy. In reality, the Chimp probably couldn't have managed a passing grade at the Technical Careers Institute (not to knock the good folks at TCI but just sayin')

  34. kuvasz Says:

Yeap, just as teacher wants all of their students to hear.

I would be allright with the republicans doing this, at least it keeps them out of trouble.

  36. Coffins Draped with a Flag Says:

Ah, George W Bush, always the stand up comedian. The Fox network's weak attempt at a comedy news show should have hired Bush for the program. Maybe they wouldn't had to cancel the show.

  37. Starve-A-Bush_Feed-A-Beaver Says:

Maybe Bush thinks that this gives him a "good ole boy", down-to-earth, anti-intellectual, common man image. But the fact is, Bush is a Connecticut Yankee, a product of exclusive private prep schools, a legacy admittee to places like Harvard and Yale. If he actually were a cowboy or truck driver as he pretends to be, who rose on his own from common roots to become President, there might even be some nobility in a C student becoming President. But Bush had everything given to him, every opportunity and he still was a lazy, C- student, who has never been curious about the world, even though he's had opportunities all around him all his life to acquire a sophisticated education. His statement suggests that he's the King by divine right and entitlement and not by merit.

  38. stewarjt Says:

First, I'll never understand how that woman got a Ph.D. Second, that's right butt face tell us again how stupid you are - like we need a reminder. This small, small "man" needs to put others down in order to appear worthy.

You too can be President of the United States and make an unmitigated, unholy disaster of the country and the world in about six and three quarter years

  39. A Patriot Acting Says:

Joneser can't make the distinction between men who have matured and become capable public speakers since their college days and a dry drunk overgrown frat boy who takes his current job about as seriously as he did his partial stint in the Air Nat'l Guard. There's a reason why Georgie only positions himself with like-minded people who wouldn't dare ask a serious question that would require insight and a thought process. EVERY time he makes the mistake of taking a non-rehearsed question he comes across as some kind of imbecile. If Joneser doesn't think that the rest of the world is LAUGHING at his sheer buffoonery, he's as delusional as his Dear Leader.

  40. Xisithrus Says:

here was a time you all nuanced and said you can’t judge someone’s intelligence based on their grades… After all that would mean John Kerry was unfit too -Joneser

What is this YOU ALL projectionist crap ypur trying to pin on others?

Karl Rove didn't get a degree from six colleges and YOU call him a genius, the Architect. I recall that it was the Republicans that held up the first MBA president. and now see its not "YOU ALL" here, its his own alma mater, and businessweek, that questions the MBA President.
    http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/nov2003/nf2003115_1870_db041.htm
It's a conversation heard more and more around the halls of Harvard Business School these days: One of President George W. Bush's unique qualifications for office was his Harvard MBA. Yet the mess in postwar Iraq has revealed a lack of the careful planning that Harvard teaches its elite clientele.

So I don't wanna hear this YOU ALL partisan stuff your talking Joneser, its irrelavent.

  41. missmolly Says:

I work as an administrative assistant and I have had bosses who have said similar patronizing things about me, publicly and often as a joke. The other classic gems bosses like to say about their underlings is "I'm the boss, but she's the one who really runs things here" (this comes even though I'm never given a raise) -- or -- "I just couldn't get along without her" (this one comes on Secretary's Day, as part of a speech where the boss demonstrates his complete lack of knowledge of what I do).

The general reaction from me is to smile through clenched teeth while thinking "what an absolute jerk!". I'm willing to bet Condi's reaction is much the same.

  42. tombaker Says:

the one who's President is a white man, so basically, dubbie just told the world that we put race, gender, and family connections ahead of what's better for us.

gee, aren't we all so proud of that.

A smartr leader recruits people smarter then himself/herself. This is true in the Business world as well. You are only as good as the people that work for you. Thankfully Bush has Rice. She is easily the brightest women in politics.

  48. Arne Langsetmo Says:

    Bush: Condi is smarter....

That's a "no-brainer". Hell, my pet chia plant is smarter (and more honest, to boot) than Dubya. And he makes my cats looks like Einsteins....

Any chance that we can make sure that Shrub sees a medical doctor who flunked out of high school ? After all, that is what he's advocating !

  50. MapleStreet Says:

I wonder if Yale has experienced a decrease in presitge and applications over the last few years ?

  51. SP Biloxi Says:

Congratulations to Bush creating the Clown series. He is on a roll today with retarded comments. I am sure that there is a second show in the making of " Are you smarter than 5th grader?" Who else from his base will the Clown President say is smarter?

  52. tombaker Says:

the trolls who have closet man-crushes on dubbie really get wound up about these things, don't they?

maybe they should just try heading over to the airport.

he's not the only fish in the sea guys - give yourselves a chance.

odds are, if you'd go to a gop fundraiser, you could find another spoiled fratboy type you could really hook up with (on the down low, of course)

#50 - If that's true (and I doubt it (sourced from Drudge, perhaps?)), then it's only because dubbie's daddy had secret service guys wiretapping the faculty.

  53. Arne Langsetmo Says:

    #48: Roger_Roger:

Yep, thank goodness she was National Security Advisor and took things in her own hands. That worked out real well, dontcha think? And her involvement with getting the failed and misguided Iraq war started. Indisputably much smarter than her "husband"....

Maybe that's why Chevron named an oil tanker after her....

    Cheers,

First - bush would be hard pressed to find anyone dumber than he is.
Second-Government isn't a business, unless you practice crony capitalism.
third-what specifcally has rice done that merits your thanks?
fourth-"the brightest woman (i'm assuming women is a typo) in politics" makes a nice slogan, but I'd put hillary up against condi in a brain-off any day.
fifth-brightness and political skills don't go hand in hand. Think the first mayor daley. Or bush. he's a better politican than he is a thinker.

Americans can now look to the idiot in the Oval Office who said Saddam killed Nelson Mandela. We have become the laughing stock around the world as people see who not only have a dumb President but and liar and insane one. I wonder how Nelson Mandela feels about the fact he is dead and killed by Saddam. I know a reporter will get a statement from him. But Mr. Mandela knows Bush is stupid and an idiot it's just the American people who follow him blindly. I feel bad for our troops who have an insane Liar-in-Chief. The Media always makes excuses for what Bush says and does but this one can't be covered up.
