Bush invites Freepers to White House.

Bush invites Freepers to White House.»

Last week, President Bush invited members of DC chapter of the right-wing website FreeRepublic.com, along with other conservative groups, to the White House for a picnic. According to a posting about the event on Free Republic, “President spent what seemed like two hours meeting with everyone who wanted to speak with him.” More pictures HERE.

Freepers are quite an insane lot. Personally, I would be ashamed if I was either Dumbya or the Creepers. Closet Klansmen, not quite as radical as Newnation or Whitesupremist, but anyone who posts links to daily Limbaugh and Savage radio shows is sane only on Bizarro World.

You honestly think Mr. Snow is “insane”?

Absolutely. Anyone who could have no moral pangs shilling for the Busch Mob is a sociopath.

Tony Snow posted at Free Republic before he became Press Secretary. You honestly think Mr. Snow is “insane”?

    Comment by Jake D. — September 23, 2007 @ 9:26 pm

Jake, the screen name is “brain”. Anyway, not to split hairs, but I think Snow is a Globalist/Defense Contracting agent/Bush Apologist/Corporatist. Insanity in the Cuckoo’s Nest Sense is not what I mean. We are talking anti-human/pro-corporate method of operation. In the Mussolinan model, that is fascism. In a strict Bizarro World mentality, where logic is considered abnormal, and being polite is not the everyday way of greeting people, everything about the Bush administration would be considered “normal”. Any work-a-day Joe or Joan that follows FreeRepublic or the Bushies is literally being brainwashed to go against their own good.

I never considered the American Legion and VFW “Conservative groups”

They weren’t just Freepers invited to the White House today for a picnic with troop support organizations:

Were there any representatives of the “Constitutional” party there, Shakey? ^_^

  7. The Republic of Stupidity Says:

Technically speaking, there is no medical condition recognized as “insane”. It’s one of the problems the medical and legal systems have interfacing.

Somone can claim to be not guilty by reason of insanity, and when the courts go to doctors, the word insanity has no medical bearing. Causes alot of misunderstanding.

  8. Brain From Planet Arous Says:

Sorry about that, “Brain”. Just to be clear then: Tony Snow is NOT “insane”. Have you ever posted here at ThinkProgress.org under any other name?

    Comment by Jake D. — September 23, 2007 @ 9:37 pm

Aploogy accepted. Only as “Brain”. Like I said, insanity has many forms. Foaming at the mouth and barking at the moon is different than being Sociopaths, thought both are forms of insanity.

  9. Tundra Says:

I take it none of you people have spent much time at VFW or American Legion Posts?

I’m actually a member, we work on vet issues. If vets are inheritently conservative I guess we would be.

  10. DanCaveman Says:

What about the organizations who have an opposing view - or even just the veteran organizations?

    Were the following invited?
    - Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (non-partisan)
    - Veterans For Peace
    - Iraq Veterans Against the War
    - (I am sure their are more)

The only way you can get the President’s ear is if you agree with him? (rhetorical, I know the answer).

  11. The Republic of Stupidity Says:

thought both are forms of insanity.

  12. Brain From Planet Arous Says:

Well yes, as there is no legal basis for “normal”. From an ethical and logical point of view, I would assume slight variations of the “Mr Spock” model would be considered “sane”. More strictly, I would say causing no harm to yourself or others might be another variation of “sane”.

Thanks for the info, Brain. Anyone else think that Tony Snow is a sociopath? Last time I checked the DSM-IV, “sociopath” is indeed listed under antisocial personality disorder ; )

    Comment by Jake D. — September 23, 2007 @ 9:45 pm

You’re welcome! Snow could be considered “anti-social” in the same way Bush is. Their actions benefit Fundamentalists, Military contractors, the AIPAC lobby, and Extremists. They do not benefit the majority of the country or more precisely, Society.

  16. The Republic of Stupidity Says:

Anyone else think that Tony Snow is a sociopath?

    Comment by Jake D. — September 23, 2007 @ 9:45 pm

Yep. I do. I said it in the first place. Just google it so you’d look like you know what you’re talking about?

Diagnosis of Antisocial personality disorder is documented to be significantly more common among men than among women.[1]
Central to identifying individuals exhibiting characteristics of the disorder is that they appear to experience a limited range of human emotions. This can explain their lack of empathy for the suffering of others, since they cannot experience the emotion associated with either empathy or suffering.

It would appear that many members of the Busch Admin are sociopaths.

    – And these:

    - Gold Star Families For Peace (Have been actively trying to meet with the President for over 2 years.)
    - Military Families for Peace (also trying to meet with the President)

I would think they earned a right to meet with the President as much as any of the other groups. Or maybe they didn’t sacrifice enough (watch enough news or violence on their TV or go to the Mall enough), since that is how the American people are asked to sacrifice.

I’ll tell you one thing about those FReeper pictures…..they really represent a broad spectrum of America, I mean look at the diversity!

So vote for Ron Paul. At least you will still have your conscience. I don’t like anybody of either party myself, but we cannot afford any more Republicans screwing up the country, nor Democrats kissing the butt of someone they know is a sociopath. I have doubts about R Paul, but he does want us back on the gold standard. On the Demo side, Hillary scares me, but not as much as Ghouliani, though it may be different reasons than yourself. I work in New York, and believe me, he is not well liked except by the raggy new York Post and Daily News.

What we are seeing here, with all these pep rallies and general hugfests, is one of the most rehearsed, orchestred, desparate PR campaigns I’ve ever had the displeasure to witness. Well, since he claims to be an Independent and that he wouldn’t vote for any CURRENT Democratic Party candidates, it implies that he’s voted for a Democrat in the past. If he’s an Independent, it means that he could potentially be open to voting for either for a consevative or liberal candidate, depending on the person. I’m wondering which Democrat he’s voted for in the past. If he would absolutely avoid voting for any Democrat or any liberal under any circumstances then he’s not a true Independent.

    Hey [Tasty] Choco Jesus,

I would normally agree except, I have an issue with people who have EARNED the right to get answers from the President and have actively sought to get his attention being ignored - we obviously know the reason, but it is disgusting, but it should be aired out that you can only get your voice heard if you will say what Bush wants to hear.

It is one thing (still unacceptably) if he doesn’t meet with any “regular folk”, but he is going out of his way to pick and choose the “Americans” he listens too.

  34. Chocolate Jesus Says:

    >This is the group that yanked Carlos Arrendondo’s picture of his dead, >Marine Corps son in order to “[liberate] his image from the midst of [a] >hostile crowd?”

Right… Gathering of Eagles is a group of ultra-nationalist white trash biker types.. perfect picture of the average remaining bush supporter…The type of people who assault anti-war protestors and beat the family members of dead soldiers who dont agree with them…

I was actually down in Crawford when they redneck ran over all the crosses the peace folks put up… later said in a newspaper editorial he was “libertating the soldiers spirits”…hahahah.. funny thing is, the only reason the guy got caught is because one of the crosses punctured his tire and the sheriff found him on the side of the road with a flat…hahahahahaah. i guess at least one of those soldiers spirits must not have appreciated the gesture….

These guys think “freedom” means “freedom to hump the flag as much as you want”

Legitimate gripe, to be sure, but has it ever been any different with this guy?

I dont know, I honestly think I’m suffering from outrage burnout…

I just can’t see how anybody…absolutely anybody who has even the most basic understanding the concept of separation of powers that this country was founded on can turn a blind eye to all things these idiots do.

I dont see how anybody can’t see that there will never be an end to a “war” on “terror” because there is no organized group to ever totally vanquish.

I dont know, I guess some peopel understand the truth at some level, but they really want a dictator who will tell them what to do and punish those who disagree….

I guess some people get a chubby at the idea of a perpetual war.. I guess someone like Bush is truly what a small percentage of people truly want…

I guess they’ll always be people like Jake who think Saddam was a bigger danger than HItler because thats what his heroes claim…

How many times did all the people at the picnic “earn” it? Did they do an exceptional job looking at violence on TV or going to the mall?

  43. TripMaster Monkey Says:

    Jake D. sez:

For the record, Cindy Sheehan met with Bush before camping out

Funny you should mention Cindy, Shakey.

Cindy Sheehan describes her meeting with Bush after her son was killed in Iraq:

“His mouth kept moving, but there was nothing in his eyes or anything else about him that showed me he really cared or had any real compassion at all. This is a human being totally disconnected from humanity and reality. His eyes were empty, hollow shells and he was acting like I should be proud to just be in his presence when it was my son who died for his illegal war! It was one of the most disgusting experiences I ever had and it took me almost a year to even talk about it,” said Sheehan in a telephone conversation from Washington D.C. where she was attending a July 4th anti-war rally.

Sheehan said the June 2004 private meeting with the President went from bad to worse to a nightmare when Bush acted like he didn’t even want to know her name. She said Bush kept referring to her as ‘Ma’ or ‘Mom’ while he “put on a phony act,” saying things like ‘Mom, I can’t even imagine losing a loved one, a mother or a father or a sister or a brother.’

“The whole meeting was simply bizarre and disgusting, designed to intimidate instead of providing compassion. He didn’t even know our names,” said Sheehan. “Finally I got so upset I just looked him in the eye, saying ‘I think you can imagine losing someone. You have two daughters. Imagine losing them?’ After I said that he just looked at me, looked at me with no feeling or caring in his eyes at all.”…

“My daughter said to him directly ‘I wish I could bring my loved one back’ and he said something like ‘so do we.’ Later she told me that after he made his remark he gave her one of the filthiest looks she had ever had gotten in her life.”

  47. Ditch Mitch KY Says:

For the record Jake D, I expect a wartime president — especially one who illegally and foolishly STARTED THE WAR to have more important issues on his agenda than hanging out with marginal right wingers, like the Gathering of Eagles and other extremist groups.

Has Bush heard about the Blackwater Slaughter at Nisoor Square last week? This is a scandal that will have implications for our troops stuck in Bush’s hellhole. Guess he doesn’t know or care. It’s much more important to schmooze with the Freepers. Pathetic.

    The boy-king is lonely.
Bush could be reaching the critical point here — he isn’t wanted on the campaign trail — he is losing friends and supporters across the nation — he invites his freepers to bring him the much needed comforting words. Oh — he’s there already.

As for the PDBs, I don’t know if he gets them or not, but I am sure he will consider them and act on them as well as he did on the ones telling him that OBL was determined to strike and that Al Qaeda was training pilots in the US. Who needs to act when you could be fishing.

well, as a freeper, you’re automatically a liar and a coward, so your opinions are worthless. And you’ve proven both of those points with your cowardly lie.

  74. TripMaster Monkey Says:

    Jake D. sez:

I am even willing to discuss the reasons for my “Ignore List”

    So am I, Shakey…so am I.

Here, once again, is proof that Jake does not put people on the “ignore list” for insulting him of ‘failing to answer his questions’, but because those people ask him questions he is unwilling to or incapable of asking:

    Jake sez:

(for instance, in the tobacco thread below, TripMaster Monkey refused to answer how the outcome of that trial would have been different).

I can only assume you’re referring to this thread, Jake, since you seem unable to substantiate your claims with links.

Please point out the post where you asked me “how the outcome of that trial would have been different”.

    I’ll wait…

Now that you’re back with nothing to show, perhaps you’ll retract your false accusations…although I know better than to give you that much credit.

While we’re talking about unanswered questions, let’s talk about my question, that you so studiously ignored.

I’ll post it again, for everyone’s benefit.

Jake, explain this canard (if you’re able). How exactly will forcing White House advisors to testify under oath impair the President’s ability to receive effective advice…unless you’re including advice to commit crimes within that range.

To paraphrase the anti-privacy crowd, if the administration isn’t doing anything illegal, what exactly does it have to hide?

I look forward to your reply.

    Two things:

One: Jake ignored me at first, and then claimed to have posted a response, which was subsequently ‘disappeared’ by the TP editors. I replied that this was rather unlikely, and, even if it were true, why didn’t he simply post the answer again? After all, Jake seems to pride himself upon answering questions…he asks often enough if anyone has any for him…

Two: This post occurred on the same day as the tobacco thread Jake mentioned earlier. Since his stated reason for placing me on the “ignore list” was that I didn’t answer a question he never asked, and since I have proof that I asked him a question he subsequently deliberately evaded, it seems overwhelmingly likely that I’m actually on the “ignore list” because Jake is afraid to debate further with me. I’d be willing to wager that asking Jake questions he can’t answer, and pointing out his lies, are the only two reasons for inclusion in The List â„¢.

I hope this clears up any lingering confusion on this issue.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

The greatest generation was not worried about the length of their tours of duty . . .

    Comment by Jake D.

Those that fought in WWII were both noble and sacrificed a ton; however, the WHOLE country sacrificed WITH them. The country did not have a problem with the draft because they supported the war. Not to mention, the United States was involved for FOUR YEARS.

There are some units who are deploying for their 4th time in less than 5 years with no end in sight. That means that they are surpassing the total time of anyone who would have been deployed for the entire WWII. Also, the battlefield of Iraq is MUCH different. Although the casualty rates are lower, the stress level is HIGH AND CONSTANT. Every day you are in Iraq you are in combat (assuming you are infantry - that is all I can speak for). There is not “safe time in the rear” any “R & R”. AT least not when I was there. Avoiding a draft simply because you don’t want to jump start the rest of America to action that would end the occupation is despicable.

  91. Ditch Mitch KY Says:

Also, from 1941-1945, America’s credibility in the world was at an all-time high. Our troops in Iraq — on their 3rd and 4th tours while Jake and others stay home — face a very different situation because Bush has destroyed our national honor.
And as we know from the news story here, Emperor Bush picnics with Freepers and other right wingers instead of dealing with the overwhelming disaster he has created in Iraq.

Sir? SIR? You’re the f*cking president. You don’t have to call the president of vice (or, as he is more commonly known, the vice president) “sir”? He has to call you “sir”!

But it gets better. He continues with the “appreciative” intros:

Secretary of State Condi Rice is with us today. Madam Secretary, appreciate you being here. (Applause.) Secretary Jim Nicholson of the Veterans Affairs Administration; thanks for coming, Jim. (Applause.)

Jim? His much-rumored girlfriend gets a “Madame Secretary”, but instead of “Mr. Secretary”, the cabinet member he’s not sleeping with just gets a “Jim”?

I want to welcome members of this crowd who have lost a loved one in this war against terror.

Need we remind you once again that the war in Iraq had nothing to do with the war on Terrorists?

The best way to honor your loved one is to make sure that he or she has the full support of the United States government as you accomplish the mission that we have set.

I thought the troops were the ones who had to accomplish the mission. Now it’s their surviving family members?

When the history books are finally written about this chapter in the war against extremists and radicals, they will recognize certain truths: one, that we recognize that if we were to retreat from the Middle East the enemy would not be content to remain where they are, but they would follow us here.

What evidence does he have to support this nonsense? If the enemy we’re fighting there (so we don’t have to fight them here) are a “world-wide organization”, then what’s preventing one of their groups from another part of the world from coming here and attacking us? This is just another one of his famously factually-deficient fear-mongering frothings. “F”-you, too, George.

That, emotional reasoning, is a problem and has been used to promote emotional decision making, by politicos, instead of logical decision making, it creates partisanship and bias for the good of the politicians. Frank Luntz, along with Rove, being major supporters of such irrationality. But all is not lost, the people are wising up to this.

[Politics is] all emotion. But there’s nothing wrong with emotion. When we are in love, we are not rational; we are emotional. When we are on vacation, we are not rational; we are emotional. When we are happy, we are not [rational]. In fact, in more cases than not, when we are rational, we’re actually unhappy. Emotion is good; passion is good. Being into what we’re into, provided that it’s a healthy pursuit, it’s a good thing.

Republican pollster Frank Luntz in 2007:

In this day and age, the media does not give you a chance to rehabilitate yourself[.] Even if [Larry Craig] fights this, the public will assume that he’s doing it for his own purposes. … It’s tragic. . . . There’s not an opportunity for some rational, intellectual discussion.

Luntz now seems to be saying oh crap, the cats outta the bag. =)

I’m not in a position to diagnose Dubya’s disorder, although delusions of grandeur clearly factor in.

And I KNOW about idiotic comments. :)

On topic: The Bush junta will always staged its public appearances, just like it has staged its WH press confere… err… releases. THis is not exclusive of Bush admin…like they were intelligent and original enough to invent all this.

No, incredibly repeated always, in every country as a PR move.

Hell, I even remember how Calderon, the current Pres of Mexico, was, before the election, 11% behind the “democratic” candidate, Obrador. And then, boom, one day some paper publishes that Calderon is in the front of the race…like that! Then another paper publishes the same thing based on their “own polls”. And then another…and then we have Pres Calderón.

Of course, in Latinamerica we are so used to electoral frauds that it is no longer sad but rather amusing discovering the new tricks…but the trend is the same.

As we all know, FreeRepublic.com is a cesspool of racists, bigots, fascists and mentally ill people who post death threats at an alarming rate.
Over at that cesspool, they have to constantly sanitize all the vile things the fringe lunatics post, basically saying that they are ashamed of the people who read and post at their vile website.
The Freepers are the dregs of American society.
Remember the Freeper idiot who was living in his Mother’s basement who got arrested for mailing phony Anthrax letters to Democrats and media members that Freepers loathe?
Remember how all of the Freepers posted their approval about all of the phony Anthrax letters mailed to “Libruls”?
It’s really something how decent web communities like MoveOn.org get crucified by the “Librul” media, while the Freeper website, which is full of Timothy McVeigh and Jeffery Dahmer types is basically anonomous to the “Librul” media.
Remember all the vile things Swiftboat scumbag Jerome Corsi said about Catholics and the Pope? That never stopped the Swiftboat scum attack, did it? Think the “Libruls” would have gotten away with that? Hardly.

1)Hug your conservative wife and conservative children. Jettison all liberal or Rino leaning children. 2) Buy more firearms and ammunition 3) Buy bullion ( Silver rounds appear to be best value) 4) Turn off your TV. Ingest no media other than FR. 5) Rediscover yourself, not in a washed out hippie looking at your life’s devastation way, but review your accomplishments. You are a valued member of FR society. 6) Obtain Crusade outfit/ Store 7) Buy a new American Flag 8) Read a book on the American revolution. Adams or Angle in the Whilwind. 9) Go to Barnes and Noble and take out all the subscription cards to Time and Newsweek and mail them in for processing. It costs them $4 to process each piece of litter. 10) Await The Call. Somebody important must step up and make it.

Actually \/\/ is still stuck at 33% and the 4 top Republican contenders arent wanting to be associated with the lame duck, they also skipped the value voter debate in Florida. Even Buckley, Mr Conservative call this debacle non-conservative.

We need all good, patriotic Americans to re-find their allegiance to the United States of America, the greatest country ever on the face of the planet.

I have been patriotic well before the Freeper website of Patriotic hate ever came into being. I have no idea what Freeper site actually stands for, they still think the media is a liberal myth, they are not conservative and do not protect the constitution because they act like groupies trying to have sex with the band. They do not think logically but emotionally. They are giving up the very freedoms they, according to \/\/, hate us for.

    Thats illogical.

And now, we must free the oppressed, because they ‘hate our freedoms’ And we must rebuild Iraq, at the cost of billions because, they hate our freedoms’

Its the most Orwellian BS I have ever seen. These are not conservatives at Freeper land. There is nothing conservative about the fiscal recklessness we see today, not to mention the culture of corruption.

I never lost my allegiance. I am working to restore what made this country great to begin with. The things that Eisenhower (Republican) talked about in his Farewell Address and the things he warned about - you should read it. It is quite interesting how he pinpointed the majority of the problems we are having now.

Regardless of how you feel about this occupation, it is extremely difficult to ignore the damage that Bush has done to the government. As a direct result of his incompetence and his under qualified government appointees, he has politicized EVERY aspect of the federal government. Things are a Republican or Democratic issue instead of a “what’s best for this country” issue.

This politicization has not only affected the ability of our government to act in the best interest of the country, it has KILLED AND WOUNDED tens of thousands of brave military troops. Both sides agree that the first 4 years of the occupation were handled poorly - just the progressives think that it is still being handled poorly - the conservatives believe things are going swimmingly. Interestingly enough, they had the same opinion “pre-surge”. Seems that for them, the occupation was always mishandled in the past, but the current situation is always working perfectly. Eventually everyone catches on to the “let’s fix tomorrow what we could fix today” strategy.
