Earlier this week, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington released it’s annual list of the “most corrupt members of Congress.” Rep. John Doolittle (R-CA), who is currently under federal investigation, received prominent placement on the list. Doolittle is now calling the group “underhanded and vile.” “There’s nothing responsible or ethical” about CREW, said Doolittle, who is currently under investigation by the Department of Justice for ethical improprieties.
HE IS A REPUBLICAN!!! NOT a dem…..
September 23rd, 2007 at 12:45 pmThinkProgress:
John Doolittle is the representative for the 4th district in California allright, but he is a Republican -not a Democrat.
September 23rd, 2007 at 12:49 pmRepublican AND alleged criminal AND confirmed crybaby.
September 23rd, 2007 at 12:51 pmYOU ARE A CROOK, you’re just SORRY you got caught you (R) piece of CRAP.

Project much, Johnny-boy?
September 23rd, 2007 at 1:16 pmDoolittle is using a time-tried Republican tactic: When in doubt, smear the messenger.
See, it’s CREW’s fault he is in the spotlight and his re-election in jeopardy: If they hadn’t added his name to the list, everything would be ok…
Tom Delay, Larry Craig, “Duke” Cunningham -they all used it. And the kool-aid drinkers fell for it, naturally.
September 23rd, 2007 at 1:20 pmOf course they are vile. Anyone who spreads the truth is vile according to the right.
The Right is imploding right before our very eyes. Sadly for them, they don’t see what is happening. If they don’t do something soon to clean up their party they will go down to total defeat in November 2008.
September 23rd, 2007 at 1:46 pmI really love this place now that they have registration. And, isn’t it amazing that the 30 or so trolls we used to have is now 2 or 3. I wonder why that is?
September 23rd, 2007 at 1:48 pmThe trolls decided to cut and run after regulations were put in place.
September 23rd, 2007 at 2:05 pmAlthough Doolittle is likely scum, I question the wisdom if not the ethics of CREW for publishing a list of the MOST CORRUPT which, in the “worst cases” is based on nothing more than allegations and the fact there is an investigation. Anyone can be accused of something; that shouldn’t qualify anyone for a spot on the top of a “most corrupt” list. That should require, at the very least, proof of corruption. Therefore, Bob Ney and Duke Cunningham deserve spots on the list, because they’ve been proved to be corrupt. The rest do not. If these people weren’t public figures, CREW would be bombarded with libel suits, and they would lose. CREW may do good work informing and challenging, but this list is nothing more than a PR stunt.
September 23rd, 2007 at 2:06 pmBut they are public figures so your contention is moot.

The man is obsessed with all of the reichwing talkingpoints. He actually says he voted for the war in Iraq because he believes it will ultimately lead to armageddon.
I wish I was kidding.
September 23rd, 2007 at 2:15 pmEskwaya, the right brought it upon themselves. They are finally getting a taste of their own medicine. stop whining, and join the party. There has never been an adminisgtration so corrupt, and the mainstream media has been corrupted by them. We need all the ammunition we can get.
September 23rd, 2007 at 2:17 pmAnyone can be accused of something; that shouldn’t qualify anyone for a spot on the top of a “most corrupt†list.

Another “independent” for whom facts are never in.
No, not anyone can be accused of anything. That is rubbish. I have never been accused of corruption, stealing, and the feds are certainly not raiding my house.
Not to mention these are members of Congress we are talking about, not private citizens. Law enforcement agencies are much more careful when looking into potential crimes of the powerful and well-heeled.
What you are whining about here is not “libel” but public scrutiny, citizen involvement, and accountability, nothing more.
September 23rd, 2007 at 2:36 pmMost if not all of those on Crew’s list ar there based not on rumors but on enough info already publicly available it’s incredible there hasn’t been some charges a long time ago.
Maybe if we had a DOJ that actually prosecuted pols instead of being a tool for the whitehouse. They seem to be giving the GOPers a pass and slow rolling the few Dems under investigation until closer to the 08 elections.
September 23rd, 2007 at 2:50 pmI want to hear Doolittle’s defense. He has not said squat in public, other than “I am innocent”. Even if he is currently under indictment, he could still present his side of the story. So far, all we are hearing is all his minions rolling over on him, which says a lot right there. Both he and his wife are guilty as sin.
September 23rd, 2007 at 3:18 pmBrent Wilkes will be providing a character reference for Mr. Doolittle shirtly.
September 23rd, 2007 at 3:39 pmThe same old (R) Modus Operandi – Dent, Attack, Reverse Victim Offender.
DARVO
September 23rd, 2007 at 4:19 pmDeny*
September 23rd, 2007 at 4:19 pmSo it’s now “underhanded and vile” for people to call someone under serious federal investigation ‘corrupt’? I suggest that Mr. Deep Do-Do Doolittle blame the investigators bringing down the house of his if he’s looking for someone to point fingers at. I love how these transparent Rethugs all read from the same predictable playbook. Sickos – all of them.
September 23rd, 2007 at 5:32 pmXisithrus: DARVO is the mantra of this administration (Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender).
Of course, they didn’t invent it – rapists did. Any wonder why they’ve adopted it? They’re raping this country and it’s citizen with each passing day so it’s might apropos.
September 23rd, 2007 at 5:34 pmSour grapes…
