In an interview with Newt Gingrich today on Fox News, The Big Story With John Gibson moved away from the shot of Gingrich and the interviewer to display a screenshot stating, “Is war the only way to stop Mahmoud?”:
Ahmadinejadumbass may be a complete whackjob but give him some credit for walking into the lion’s den. That’s a far cry from Bush’s scripted appearances and a step you’ll never see the Horse Whimperer take.
Why do I keep hearing right-wingers referring to this guy as a dictator? He was elected by his people as a populist, and he’s not even the most powerful person in Iran. Am I missing something?
Is anyone else bothered by the trivializing of war that fox engages in? If they really thought that Iran is such a threat that we need to attack them first, would they call for war when the leader of Iran is here, in our country, where he’ll be sure to see this?

No you are not missing anything. The right is full of not so smart people who need to be told what to think and say. It would be too much for them to find out for themselves if he is a dictator or an elected anything. Far too much work for them. They tune into hannity or limbaugh and off they go.
I personally consider Bush and Cheney much more dangerous than this guy, who isn’t even in charge of Iran. The President in Iran has very limited powers (unlike our meglamaniac). The only think we even know about the Iranian government is what we are TOLD by our own government and their affiliates. And that includes all the media. Frankly, the “liberal media” bit is totally ridiculous, because watching the aftermath of the Columbia speech today, I don’t see it. And I didn’t see it last night on 60 Minutes either. I thought that interview was horrifying! The truth is…we don’t know the truth! I figured that out when I was 5 years old, and we were all being told incredibly lurid stories about the Russian people. Not just the government…but the people themselves. Middle of the Red Scare.
The question should be; is there anything war doesn’t solve? Sort of like this – some terrorists in Afghanistan have killed 3,500 Americans – answer? War in Iraq. AND we really up the ante 1,000,000 Iraqis.
I wonder when the rest of the World will gang up and take us out before we destroy them and ourselves?
The Karl Rove philosophy seems to live on — “remember how short Americans’ attention spans are!”
If enough Americans manage to forget about the failed occupation in Iraq (and since Fox doesn’t report on it anymore, this probably helps the process), then Fox can go ahead and sell them on war in Iran.
This doesn’t say much for the sheeple who make up Fox’s viewing audience.
The drum beat is desperate…. Americans are not buying the same LIE a second time.

I believe MOST Americans won’t. Remember the 28% who will believe anything this administration tells them, regardless of how many times Lucy has pulled away the football.
1. Iran (Persia) has been a regional power since the time of Alexander the Great (Perisipolis)
2. Our CIA orchestrated the overthrow of the democratically elected Govt. of Iran in 1953.
3 After 911, Iran expressed its sympathy to America, and offered to aid in the war against Al Qaeda as long as the actions were UN sanctioned.
4. Iran was an enemy of the taliban in Afghanistan, and was instrumental in toppling the taliban and the expulsion of Al Qaeda from Afghanistan. For their efforts, Bush rewarded them by calling them part of the Axis of Evil.
5. 80% of the oil in the middle east is under land occupied by Shiites.
I don’t blame the GOP and the White House from being afraid of the Iran President. He showed he’s intelligent, up dated to current events and wise.
He would make Bush look like the idiot he is, that’s way Bush sent a message by the CBS reporter. Yes the USA is the only country to use the Atom Bomb on another country killing thousands and later thousands dying later from the after effects. The US gave Israel/Pakistan/India Nukes to protect their country. Now the Bush Administration says that they are the only one who can say who can have Nukes. Iran and North Korea aren’t allowed per George W. Bush and President Cheney. Now the GOP needs to illegally invade Iran for the oil. Things didn’t go as planned with Iraq. I notice the media isn’t talking about the oil deal the Kurds made with someone else.
Here is the comment from President Bush alluded to by Jackie: “I asked President Bush what he would say to you if he were sitting in this chair. And he told me-quote-speaking to you, that you’ve made terrible choices for your people. You’ve isolated your nation you’ve taken a nation of proud and honorable people and made your country the pariah of the world. These are President Bush’s words to you,” Pelley said.”
Sure. If you’re an unimaginative dumbass who doesn’t give a rip about human lives or the total exhaustion of our armed forces and the destruction of our nation’s ability to defend itself. Sounds like Gibson.
Stop him from what? Stop him from working on nuclear technology? Well why can Israel, Pakistan and India have nuclear technology but Iran can’t? And please don’t give me the “wipe Israel off the map” bullshit. That’s not what he said and it has been proven it was not what he said. He wants to wipe the GOVERNMENT of Israel off the map and I think that he is right. This would be a better world without the people in the government of Israel.
Rupert Murdoch with his media empire, is the 21st century version of William Randolph Hearst and his media empire.
Newspapers then, TV channels now.
Beyond the difference in medium, warmongering, as well as jingoistic, yellow journalism is what is sold to the public, without regard for the consequences or the loss of human lives.
>Is this the same guy that said there are NO gays in Iran?
Gee I dunno. Was rumsfeld the guy saying there was WMD in Iraq?
Was Cheney the one saying there were nuclear programs in Iraq?
Was bush the one (as quoted by Pat Roberston and not denied by the white house) who said “we won’t have any casualties in iraq”?
Was Wofwowitz the one who said that iraqi oil would pay for its own reconstruction?
And who was he the guy who said we’ve be greeted with flowers? Cheney? Pearle?
I’m no fan of Iran. Or this guy whose its president. But compared to the idiots currently running our country, he looks like a genius.
Also, BTW, the better translation of his “Israel should be whiped off the map” was “the zionist regime will be erased from the pages of history”.
By chance, can any of you spouting the “whiped off the map” meme give me the arabic words he used, and provide a translation for each of them? thanks so much..
War is big business for Fox. Their ratings go through the roof during invasions, shock and awe, etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if in some future time, Murdoch–his head kept alive in a robot body by this time–owns the military and declares wars often to keep his ratings up.
He was elected by his people as a populist, and he’s not even the most powerful person in Iran. Am I missing something?
Yes, you are missing logic and truth. Those are two things that Conservatives are unwilling and unable to deal with.

It is neither logical or true to suggest he was elected by “his people”.
See the link below from the BBC, hardly a conservative group
You really should check it out, it is pretty interesting. The key point to Iran’s “democratic” elections is that all candidates are vetted by the Guardian Council, religous Oligarchs appointed by the TRUE dictator of Iran, Ayatollah Khamani. Over 1000 candidates were rejected by the Guardian Council – if candidates aren’t free to run, it is not a free election.
BTW, no word if Khamani thinks there are homosexuals in Iran. Someone should DEFINITELY tell Oliver Stone about this, based on his bio of Alexander the Great, EVERYONE in Persia is gay.
Keep banging the drums, Fox – be careful what you wish for.
