Giuliani fundraiser seeking $9.11 from guests.»

Tomorrow, a supporter of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is hosting a “$9.11 for Rudy” fundraiser, in which guests are asked to give $9.11 donations to Giuliani’s presidential campaign. The campaign has distanced themselves from the fundraiser, but has not asked it to stop. The event has angered the International Association of Fire Fighters, which argues the 9/11 terrorist attacks are being exploited:

The union — already a vocal critic of Giuliani’s — said Tuesday that the fundraiser’s “$9.11 for Rudy” theme is an abuse of the image and symbols of the 2001 attacks.

“It is nothing short of disrespectful to the legacy of the thousands of civilians and 343 brave firefighters who died at ground zero,” IAFF president Harold Schaitberger said.

What do they expect from a Republican? There are more threads of decency in the proverbial emperor’s clothes than in the whole of the GOP (Garish Old Perverts).

    Disgusting….

  3. Starve-A-Bush_Feed-A-Beaver Says:

Rudy should legally change his name to 911. Can someone tell me exactly what Rudy did in the aftermath of 9/11 that would allow him to take credit for anything, other than posing for the camera and walking around pointing and shouting orders to people off camera who weren’t even there?

  4. MCMetal Says:

Hey Fruity Rudy , you stupid schmuck ; is this your idea of not politicizing 9/11 like you claimed a week or so ago , jerkoff ?

  5. Marie Says:

Rudy Giuliani, the one trick pony.

  6. Exley Says:

Tacky and offensive. Rudy should tell the organizers of the event to knock it off.

  7. Vet Says:

Rudy will soon fade away. He’s got nothing.

  8. Nevar Says:

“Giuliani supporter Abraham Sofaer is slated to hold the fundraiser at his Palo Alto, Calif., home on Wednesday, when Giuliani backers across the country are participating in the campaign’s “National House Party Night.” Givers at the parties are generally being asked for $25, $50 or $100 and not for $9.11, according to the campaign Web site.”

I hereby nominate for the “National House Party Night) theme song
“Burning Down The House” by the Talking Heads.

    9/11, it’s a celebration!!

exploitation, plain and simple. and what boggles my mind, is rudy acts like some kind of hero from that day.

there were no hero’s. every single defense system either failed or was shut down that day.

investigate 9/11. i’ll send all the 9.11 checks you need for that one.

  10. Vet Says:

“National House Party Night.” — Let me guess: lingere theme?

  11. Menehune Says:

Come to Crazy Rudee’s Huge Huge Huge Patriot Day Sale!!! He’s slashing prices not once! But twice! Watch your savings come crashing down!!! Take $9.11 off everything in the store and we’re giving away Crazy Rudee commemorative boxcutters to the first 3000 customers! His prices are INSANE!!!!

  12. MCMetal Says:

$9.11 is the amount Rudy pays for his divorces and haircuts , too……

  13. clb72 Says:

If there’s already Rudy-911 fatigue now, what’s he got left till November 2008?

  16. tombaker Says:

I’ll give him nine hundred and eleven pennies, if I can stand by and watch while he picks them up off a piss-soaked Manhattan sidewalk.

  17. Chris L Says:

This is the problem with a one-trick pony. Once election time comes, what else does he bring to the table - foreign policy problems like Darfur and East Timor? Domestic issues like immigration and health care? All he has is 9/11.

  18. dim wit Says:

Soon Giuliani is going to have 9/11 trademarked:

And to top it off, it’s all in his head. His actions before 911 had a definite detrimental effect on that day. Since 911, he seems to believe he was New York’s saviour.

Ghouliani gives tacky a bad name.

    Blech.

  21. helenahandbasket Says:

rudy’s just practicing the well-known g.o.p. politics of fear: 9-11/24-7.

  22. AngryOne Says:

Giuliani spokesperson Maria Comella disowned the unfortunately titled “$9.11 for Rudy,” pinning responsibility on “two volunteers who acted independently of and without the knowledge of the campaign.” Despite that setback, Giuliani’s campaign has plenty of less controversial themes to choose to from for future fundraisers…

  23. Xisithrus Says:

Chris Henick, one of Karls Klones, as you can tell by the talking points, works for Rudy.

Read that again and again until you understand it trolls!!

Trudy Julie Annie must NEVER be President of this great country. He’s a loser, facist, Repugniscum, lying assh%le who needs to STFU and go back to screwing his cousins!!!

Yes, Trolls this assh&ole married his 2nd cousin!!

Yikes! Yankees that act like Rednecks!!

  25. tombaker Says:

Frudy doesn’t seem to enjoy much support from the troll contingent, as evidenced here.

My guess is they’re going to throw their “weight” behind frederick of hollywood, who will try to win by being the most incredibly phony, vague, and non-committal candidate since…..well I don’t even know who.

Locally, I’ve already seen a “Fred ‘08″ sticker, affixed to the back of a shitty old suburban, driven by one of those 60-something white guys who never really made it in life, and blames blacks and gays for things that rich white guys did to him. Those guys don’t like Rudy - too “big city” for them. They prefer guys like Reagan, Dubbie, and Fred, who will at least go to the trouble of faking it for them (like their poor wives always have).

  26. tarazan Says:

Did Judy phone him during the $9.11 event.

    ‘I love You Judy’…Rudy said.

I think he’d actually have to make that 9/11â„¢.
911 is the official Emergency Phone number. (Of course, we could all get around the trademark issue by adopting the European date system–11/9. Sure, it’d be confusing at first, but we could adjust.)

  32. JosephW Says:

Ron, the difference is that the Wellstone funeral was, at its heart, a FAMILY service and EVERYTHING at the funeral was done with the FAMILY’s approval. Then, too, the funeral came much closer to Election Day and no one was asking for financial contributions.
But leave it to a neocon to compare apples with oranges. The Wellstone family was generous in allowing the public to participate, but the public (especially the right-wingers who didn’t have a good thing to say about Wellstone when he was alive and were actively working to prevent his re-election from the start) had no right to complain about what the family did. Using 9/11 as a political grandstanding issue–something which affected far more people on a national level than the Wellstone funeral–is a far different matter.
