Ron, the difference is that the Wellstone funeral was, at its heart, a FAMILY service and EVERYTHING at the funeral was done with the FAMILY’s approval. Then, too, the funeral came much closer to Election Day and no one was asking for financial contributions.
But leave it to a neocon to compare apples with oranges. The Wellstone family was generous in allowing the public to participate, but the public (especially the right-wingers who didn’t have a good thing to say about Wellstone when he was alive and were actively working to prevent his re-election from the start) had no right to complain about what the family did. Using 9/11 as a political grandstanding issue–something which affected far more people on a national level than the Wellstone funeral–is a far different matter.

I think he’d actually have to make that 9/11â„¢.
911 is the official Emergency Phone number. (Of course, we could all get around the trademark issue by adopting the European date system–11/9. Sure, it’d be confusing at first, but we could adjust.)

Frudy doesn’t seem to enjoy much support from the troll contingent, as evidenced here.

My guess is they’re going to throw their “weight” behind frederick of hollywood, who will try to win by being the most incredibly phony, vague, and non-committal candidate since…..well I don’t even know who.

Locally, I’ve already seen a “Fred ‘08″ sticker, affixed to the back of a shitty old suburban, driven by one of those 60-something white guys who never really made it in life, and blames blacks and gays for things that rich white guys did to him. Those guys don’t like Rudy – too “big city” for them. They prefer guys like Reagan, Dubbie, and Fred, who will at least go to the trouble of faking it for them (like their poor wives always have).
