In WW2, many soldiers DIED in order for americans (and people all over the world, too) to enjoy those freedoms.

Now they’re claiming that they’re doing away with those freedoms in order to avoid soldiers dying.

I have to disagree that McConnell “reaffirmed” anything. He acknowledged his prior testimony when Spector questioned and quoted him (McConnell) on it. I’m no fan of McConnell, but, comeon. We can do better than this.

This is how authoritarians get authoritarian followers to do their bidding. It is vital to everything they do to espouse the Dangerous World point of view. Commies under every bed and all that. Once you convince people that the word is dangerous, you can do just about anything you like and people will go along. Patriot Act. Habeas Corpus. War. Domestic Spying. Ironically, authoritarian followers cannot or will not recognize the real source of danger to “our way of life.” They are too busy cowering in the corners and happy to be willing accomplices to insurrection, all for the sake of false security from phantom dangers.
