Boxer-Inhofe global warming rematch.

Boxer-Inhofe global warming rematch.

Today, the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works held a hearing about global warming’s impact on the Chesapeake Bay. Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), a proud climate skeptic, loudly objected to the fact that Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) was going to testify, but was quickly put down by the chair of the committee, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA). The Politico’s Ryan Grim reports:

Inhofe, with staff already present, responds that he’ll agree to allow the Maryland senator to stay if Boxer will concede it as a one-time-only deviation.

“Senator, I’m not going to agree to that,” she says. “I’m the chairman of this committee and I’ve spoken to you about this. You knew this was coming. I asked Sen. Mikulski to join us. If that’s not enough, I went back to the parliamentarian. There is absolutely no rule that forbids this.” [...]

Mikulski cuts in. “We need to focus on the issue of global warming and the impact on the bay,” she says, “and not on myself. I yield to the ruling of the chair.”

Inhofe, though, is no longer chair. “Well, the ruling of the chair, if I had a chance to rule,” says Boxer, the chair, “would be that you will be joining us.”

In March, Inhofe threw a similar fit at a global warming hearing, objecting to the testimony of Al Gore. At that time Boxer also shot him down, stating, “Elections have consequences. So I make the rules.”

    awwww….poor lil’ ol’ Senator In-huff….

  2. tarazan says:

Inhofe still bitter and mad that he lost the chair.
Inhofe can never be a weatherman…he fears ‘warming’ so much..

Inhofe discounts global warming; and after a tornado, is first snout at the public trough…

  4. Starve-A-Bush_Feed-A-Beaver says:

Why does Inhofe object to the free marketplace of ideas? If he objects to the point of view of certain witnesses being called before the Senate, he’s free to cross-examine them and try to discredit them, based on his own sources of scientific authority, if he has any.

  5. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Whilst it’s always fun to see Imhofe beaten up by some kindergarteners, when will Boxer, et al, start truly standing up to Chimpenator?

We’re marching dead on towards WW III, folks.

  6. republicans are the Fear and Smear Party says:

In-a-huff knew this was coming so he pulls a political stunt and has a hissy fit. Keep up the immature political grandstanding because it helps push voters over to the side of Dems.

Boxer can show Feinstein how it is done.

Boxer isn’t perfect (she supported Lieberman), but she is a hell of a lot better than broken-pottery-war-profiteering-DiFi. If Boxer was on Intelligence, we might not be having lies and deceit propel the propaganda machine. Without false reasons, it would be much more difficult for the GOP to send other people’s kids to war.

Meanwhile, maybe Inhofe can choke on a cigar or whatever he puts into his mouth and just shut up.

Yo “in-a-huff”: STFU. By the way, your minority is about to shrink.

Newsflash to crazy Inhofe, who shouldn’t be anywhere near a Committee on the Environment:

Greenland is melting. Fast. And we have no plan of action.

So do we want to hear your time-wasting nonsense as we face a crisis with global dimensions. NO. You need to cooperate with Sen. Boxer and focus on the real & crucial issues we face — or get the hell off the Committee.

You have to love Barbara Boxer. It’s too bad she is not the Majority Leader in the Senate. She could run rings around Mr. Wimp Reid.

I am so sad what has happened to the party I once loved. And I hold both Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid responsible for ruining what was once a great party.

Inhofe wants to take his ball and go home. Except Boxer informed him that it is not his ball.

Barbara Boxer’s responsibility is to run a committee. Reid and Pelosi have to find ways to pass important domestic legislation in the face of a hostile-to-progress Republican minority. Big difference!
