In an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, President Bill Clinton said there was something “completely disingenuous about the feigned outrage” from conservatives over the MoveOn ad. Clinton noted that many of the same conservatives who expressed outrage had likened Sen. Max Cleland (D-GA) to Osama bin Laden and had smeared Sen. John Kerry’s (D-MA) war record. He added:
It was just bait and switch. It was just, oh thank goodness, I can take this little word here and ignore what we’ve done in Iraq and what we’re gonna do — and the outrageous way we gained political power by smearing John Kerry.
Watch it:
The House today voted to condemn the MoveOn ad — a full 16 days after it first appeared in the New York Times. The full interview with Clinton airs tonight on CNN at 10 pm EST.
Is it me or is this Bill at his best?
September 26th, 2007 at 9:30 pmWingnuts have lost their credibility, and have lost America. We must fight to get it back, if it’s still possible. Clean house on the Dem side as well, they should have nuked the repigs from the first day on.
September 26th, 2007 at 9:36 pm#1 – I’d agree – he’ll eventually become the kind of shining example of a former President that no Republican could ever hope to be in their wildest dreams, just like Jimmy Carter has.
Hillary bashing is pretty popular right now on bith sides, but it occurred to me today that she’s the only public figure ever to call the right-wing power grabbers to the carpet, and call it by name: “a vast right-wing conspiracy”, which is exactly what it is. A cabal propped up by old money that still has a chip on its shoulder over FDR and the New Deal (the last good thing the US government ever did for its citizens).
Watch the Ken Burns documentary on pbs, and marvel at how good a President can be, and how contemporary pretenders to the halls of power suck ass in comparison.
September 26th, 2007 at 9:39 pm#3, should read “both”, not “bith” – when will I ever manage to become a more accurate 3-fingered typist?
September 26th, 2007 at 9:41 pmGood for Bill.
It’s too bad that the Republicans just scared Hillary into voting for the Lieberman-Kyl condemnation of Iran.
It’s a set up Hillary. When Bush drops bombs on Iran, thanks to the Senate, you’ll look like a sucker, once again, for giving him the permission. The other Democratic candidates didn’t fall for it.
Why are you not learning the lesson?
September 26th, 2007 at 9:43 pmComment by Rory — September 26, 2007 @ 9:43 pm
What’s your point, Rory?
September 26th, 2007 at 9:45 pmBy a 341-79 vote, the U.S. House passed a resolution praising the patriotism of Gen. Petraeus and condemning a MoveOn.org ad. The vast majority of House Democrats, including Speaker of the House Pelosi, voted FOR the resolution . . .
Comment by Rory — September 26, 2007 @ 9:43 pm
well, modern politicians are gutless wonders, and the dems are gun-shy after having the White House and the senate stolen from them twice. Besides, so what? I mean, really. Notice that it didn’t phase MoveOn in the least; they are showing far more courage and patriotism than all but 79 representatives.
September 26th, 2007 at 9:46 pmThe big dog nails it.
September 26th, 2007 at 9:46 pmI don’t believe Pelosi, as Speaker, voted for the resolution to condemn MoveOn.
September 26th, 2007 at 9:47 pmIn fact, it’s no surprise that most of the establishment pols voted for a meaningless resolution; they are all running very scared of the power of the internet, and MoveOn represents that power, and a real threat to the bottom-feeders that are on the corporate teat. I think I’ll send them some money…
September 26th, 2007 at 9:48 pmWeird, Pelosi is not listed as voting at all, either yea, nay or even not voting according the roll call tally posted on the House Clerk’s page.
September 26th, 2007 at 9:54 pmRory sez:
No…he should rip them for being spineless collaborators and for betraying the trust of the voters who elected them.
September 26th, 2007 at 9:55 pmMy point is that Bill Clinton should also rip the VAST MAJORITY of Democratic Congressmen for ‘feigned outrage’, don’t you think?
Comment by Rory — September 26, 2007 @ 9:51 pm
Why would he do that? Why is it always the responsibility of the Democrats to be “bipartisan” and the Republicans are invariably just as partisan as it’s possible to be?
September 26th, 2007 at 9:56 pmI agree, he should. And many of us on the left-side of the blogsphere are ripping on the gutless turds on the Dem side who vote for this kind of crap. Your point?
September 26th, 2007 at 9:57 pmAll the GOP can do is bait and switch. Just like the trolls on these threads, they have absolutely nothing honest or credible on their side of the ledger so their singular option is to hijack the conversation away from this dispicable war, war profiteering, illegal spying, outsourcing of torture, violations of constitutional rights, and the antics of Republicans going down the tubes as criminals each day….GOP “Scandal Du Jour”.
It would take a gall-dang Houdini to elude the avalanche of $hit hitting the fan on this white house and the GOP.
September 26th, 2007 at 9:57 pmRory: You make a great point here. How did something as inane and ridiculous (not to mention the fact that these congressmen need a primer in the right to free speech – ahem!) get to the floor for a vote anyway? Pelosi’s asleep at the wheel I’m afraid and one HUGE disappointment. I guess those rumors of illegal aliens working in her vineyard are not just rumor but being used as blackmail these days.
September 26th, 2007 at 9:59 pmSmart Dems are going to refrain from attacking their own. Bill is a smart Dem.
Let’s not have a bunch of high-horse malcontents (though I reside with them in spirit) Nader-ize the next election shall we?
I’d take the worst of the Dems (Lieberman excepted) over any R, any time.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:01 pmRory sez:
We shouldn’t have to. We voted them in to take care of this mess…not to facilitate it.

Lieberman’s no Democrat.

September 26th, 2007 at 10:03 pmAnd just to put in a major plug here for those of you whom are disenchanted, disgusted and downright angry at being taken to the cleaners by those we elected to represent us and clean up this corruption – you do have a way to feel free from the complicity brought on by party affiliation – by registering Independent.
This is not to say that if you register as an Independent you are supporting an Independent candidate; conversely, you can still vote for anyone you choose.
This may be perhaps OUR LAST VOICE in this democracy. The I’s or Unaffiliateds in New Hampshire now number 44% of all registered voters. Nationally, Registered Independents have reached 35% and soon the MSM will have no alternative but to recognize this huge and growing bloc of voters because they now wield power.
Regain your voice in this government; Regain your personal power. Visit your Supervisor of Elections (or online if available in your state) and Register Independent today.
Express yourself while you still can!
September 26th, 2007 at 10:03 pmTripMaster: If Lieberman’s a true Independent, I’ll eat my keyboard! We don’t want him, that’s for sure. He’s a disgrace and an embarrassment.

Already have quite a while ago, Rory.
Again, what’s your point?
September 26th, 2007 at 10:04 pmRory: Renouncing Democrats is one thing; serving them “notice” by registering as an Independent is another. It’s a clear way to send them your “notice of renunciation”.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:06 pmAnd since most I’s lean heavily in the direction of the democrats, they can see just how many voters they may potentially lose due to their continued abrogation of duty.

I said nothing of the sort, Rory.
You must be new at this.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:08 pmIf the numbers of Registered Unaffiliated Voters continues to rise, the dialogue will switch to our inept, impotent “two party system”. The virtual “pissing contest” going on in Congress these days is abominable and beginning to resemble schoolyard brawls. Shameful that we’re funding this pissing contest as well.

September 26th, 2007 at 10:10 pmLieberman is the quintessential war monger acting out of the Jewish Holocaust “painbody”, that’s clear. Unfortunately, he’s carrying baggage from another era which is why he always appears so out of touch with reality. He needs a good shrink.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:10 pmrory: I see that President Clinton has once again ripped the right wing, a new a$$hole. So, is your bum a little sore.

I’m renouncing the republicans completely. Does that count?
September 26th, 2007 at 10:12 pmRory sez:
Renouncing does not equal pledging not to vote for them, Rory.

September 26th, 2007 at 10:14 pmIf I’ve misred your sincerity, Rory, apologies. But somehow these threads begin to reek if you know what I mean….the malodorous stench of a troll in disguse if you catch my drift.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:14 pmSee you later, veritas. Yes, I post (both stories and comments). We’re blogging on the Democratic Presidential Debate right now, actually.
Don’t worry about Rory. He’s strictly a third-stringer.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:14 pmrory: Still shilling for the whigs, er . . . republics? You’re about as independent as rush.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:15 pmAlso how about those Purple Heart Band-Aids at the Repuppetcan Convention. Now as an Army Sergeant First Class that has been to EVERY conflict since Panama in 89, and two tours in Iraq, I must say that that was one of the most despicable displays EVER. I know Soldiers who have been awarded Purple Hearts and not all of them lose limbs and life, but the simple fact that they were (ARE) in the postion to lose life and limb is nothing to laugh at.
I was sitting in the mess hall in Mosul on that day in Dec 2004 and I remember the blast and I remember getting knocked out my seat and I remember looking for my men and my XO. And remember seeing the blood running out of my and my XO’s ears but we were alright we just wanted to help the worse off. All it would have taken to receive Purple Hearts was for someone to write it up and we would have got them, but We weren’t interested plus I already had one from Panama.
Alot of people were killed that day (21) and a lot of people were wounded I helped a guy who looked pretty bad off and didn’t know until I got back that he was my daughter’s best friends father.
There were plenty of Purple Hearts given out for that terrible day, given to people who if you looked at them you would say that nothing was wrong with them, but you know what…………………THEY WERE THERE!!!!
None of you could imagine the outrage WE felt watching the Repuppetcans INSULT the vakue of a Purple Heart, and the fact that the so-called liberal media let it go was the last straw.
One day all of you who claim to “support the troops” but really only support the Repuppetcan Party and its “Band of Runner’s” are gonna receive the cruelest reality and I cant wait to watch you get it.
General Petreaus is the worse kind of General. He values politics over his Soldiers.

September 26th, 2007 at 10:19 pmThe point I believe that you are intentionally missing, Ms. Rory, is that just because one is an independent thinker who is not led by the ring in his nose by a group of fascists, it somehow besmerches the democrats. Registering as an Independent means that this growing bloc of voters will wield power in 08 and will vote for the candidate of our choice. It goes without saying that the Repukes are tanking by their numbers (now at 27%) and will tank even further with Toxic Bush still outraging the public.
Essentially, if you take this bloc of I’s at face value (35%) (mostly Democrats) and contrast it to the decreasing number of Reg. Repukes, I think that soon it will eclipse the GOP. When that occurs, our present “two party system” will be in serious jeopardy and the GOP may become extinct.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:19 pm. . . anyone else?

Rory, you have to hold hands, otherwise the magical spell wont function.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:21 pmDoes that mean you are going to vote for Republicans?

Just as soon as Hell freezes over.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:21 pmToday one may renounce the democrats who voted on something as inane and superficial as this MoveOn nonsense; EVERY DAY people are renouncing the continued debouchery, chicanery and corruption. The Republicans do not deserve to be in office; what’s more they don’t deserve to be funded by american dollars at this point.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:22 pmRory sez:
I’m sure you are, Rory, since you’re obviously in favor of renouncing anybody and everybody with a (D) after their name, as evidenced by this post:
Your ridiculous partisanship would be laughable, if it weren’t so appalling. “Independent”, indeed. Don’t make me laugh.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:23 pmRory: If you ask the majority of Registered Independents if they would EVER consider voting Republican, they’d laugh you right off the planet. How anyone could consider voting Repuke after this horrendous administration of smoke & mirrors, lies and deceit is well beyond any logic. Only one getting rich from war profiteering, Big Oil, Big Pharma, and Big Insurance would be all that’s left to the GOP at this point.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:24 pmAnd, Rory….for the record, who gives a flying shit that it’s only you and Bilbo in the first place? No one cares. Get to sleep now before your mother catches you online past your bedtime. Nightey-night, troll.

September 26th, 2007 at 10:26 pmSweet dreams, all!
September 26th, 2007 at 10:26 pmIf Bill continues to swing and connect like this, the far right will suffer a coma induced by the aneurysm formed by their collective hate.

Fortunately for them, she won’t do either.

I’d like to know why so many Democrats voted for this condemnation of the Moveon.org ad? And so, while Clinton took the time to bash the right, why didn’t he reserve some of his outrage for the gutless Democrats who voted for this thing?
Comment by comity — September 26, 2007 @ 10:36 pm
How could it be less important? Politically, it’s a loser either way. It is entirely meaningless, like most repig legislation, and it’s entirely possible that establishment politicians don’t want their party smearing establishment toadies like Betrayus. I’ve read all along that the “supplemental” spending bills for Iraq are not part of the budget figures,so the the deficit that freakin’ madman is running might be substantially larger than we’re being told. And, now, he wants ANOTHER $190BB for his personal nightmare/bloodbath over there, and it looks like he’s going to get it.

September 26th, 2007 at 11:39 pm#104,
Technically, President Clinton was not permanently disbarred. Following his plea agreement with the independent counsle bu which he admitted he deliberately gave misleading testimony before a federal judge, President Clinton had his law license suspended for contempt of court.
He also resigned under pressure from the U.S. Supreme Court Bar after the Court began disbarmet proceedings.
September 26th, 2007 at 11:41 pmWhy are Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid allowing these idiotic “sense of the senate” votes to even happen. The GOP is done, and if elections were held today, Clinton (either one) would destroy all republiscum in a walk. And it will only get worse for you, as patriots like MoveOn continue to bring the truth of the corruption and antiAmericanism of the GOP to light. It must be a nightmare for you to realize every day that 70% of the American people think you and your repig traitors are lower than used-car salesmen. But keep listening to O’Reilly, that will ensure a rout for your party of historical proportions, and you deserve it for the damage you have done to this country.

Very, very possible. Although several polls show Sen. Clinton trailing Mayor Giuliani in the polls, her victory in the 2008 presidential election is a very distinct possibility. If a Democrat were indeed to win the presidency in 2008, one can only hope it will be Sen. Clinton….She is the sole adult among the craven lightweights that make up the current roster of Democratic presidential nominees.

Sorry Right Wing Loon – my becoming an Independent is not going to win the Republicans the next election. I plan on re-registering as a Democrat before the next election. I became an Independent to send the Democratic party a message that they need to step up to the plate. If enough Democrats did that, they just might get the message. My political dollars are now going to moveon.org. I have pledged them a monthly amount.

Kerry never discredited his service. He was standing for the real principles behind the American ideal, and against the atrocities committed by American soldiers forced into an unwinnable, immoral, illegal situation. Only rightwing loonies try to discredit a genuine war hero, because they are deeply ashamed of their own cowardice and lack of patriotism. And why aren’t you in Iraq, by the way? September 27th, 2007 at 12:44 amThe White House and the GOP are getting ready to bomb Iran with no proof while yet again as was done in Iraq. Greenspan said what everyone knew it’s all about oil. Any country with a dictator killing the people mean nothing to the White House if the country has no oil to steal. Bill knows well this is the GOP’s way of pushing the headlines away from the Billions they want for Iraq, not passing the health care for American children and allowing the Blackwater hired killers to continue to murder Iraqis and US soldiers. He knows that the weapons used by the enemy were provided by the US and Saudis. Yes must we forget the 190,000 weapons General Petraeus lost yet there being sold by Blackwater as I speak.

September 27th, 2007 at 12:59 amThere is absolutely no truth or proof to any of the statements you just uttered. Except that Alan Greenspan amazingly did suggest that even though we aren’t getting any oil out of Iraq that somehow it was all about the oil anyway.

well you are the living, lying proof of that. never mind the CIA director, or the other field agents that went on record as stating she was a covert operative, keep drinking the kool-aid and weakening the USA, just like the Good Germans did. Fitzgerald convicted Cheney’s chief or staff, and Bush screwed the American people by not letting him hang for treason. Those are the facts, not your fairy-tale of lies and wishful thinking. You’re a sad, lost child. Why aren’t you in the service, by the way? it’s always the case that the biggest talkers have the least patriotism, to go with their tiny dicks. Sucks to be you.

I was there and followed it very closely. You’re lying, again. You’re also conveniently in denial of the actual carnage delivered by American troops, then and now. People are trained for weeks to kill violently, and think nothing of it. The consequences are predictable, and inevitable. Kerry was trying to uphold the standards and values of America, while you try to downplay and destroy the same. Where’s your Purple Heart? And who has more right to expose and protest an illegal, immoral war than those who fought it, and saw with their own eyes the results? Kerry was a hero then, and remains a war hero. That’s a fact that all of your lies and smears will never change. Some support of the troops, there, bud. You’re a weak, cowardly fool.

You’re just buying into partisan lies, because you really have no use for real Americans, who put their lives on the line to protect you from your enemies. Your gutless smearing of troops and agents shouild alert any American of the pointlessness of service, which is why enlistment is at rock-bottom. Nobody wants to fight for the likes of you, and you are too cowardly to do it yourselves.

Scoop for Spanish Daily: Transcript of Private 2003 Bush Talk Promising Iraq Invasion
Yes and the Pakistan President was telling the truth he and other world leaders were threaten by the Bush/Cheney team if they didn’t support the illegal invasion. I heard much of the truth from my son and his friends in Iraq as he is in the Military. Yes by the time you learned about the injured troops getting poor treatment in Walter Reed it was old news to Military families. Don’t worry nothing has changed since the headlines as the money is diverted to Iraq still. But I think your right to keep believing the lies the White House is telling. Like the Titanic sank because people could see what was happening but the Captain said nothing was wrong.

Let’s see if it’s possible to follow your logic here.
I quoted an old Woody Allen line that was quite funny in its day, in an appropriate way.
You say Zooey is quoting a child molster and infer she’s unfit to be a mother because of it. (Clearly you didn’t understand what you had read…)
You then point out Woody was “screwing his adopted daughter” and this somehow gives you license to infer all of us are stupid (”regurgitating pablum”). The adopted daughter was 22 at the time… and they have since married and had children.
I thought what Woody did was pretty stupid too, and the line is still funny, and by quoting it, I certainly didn’t signal approval of Woody’s behavior, no matter what sort of self-serving conclusion you want to come to.
But hey, don’t let all of that get in the way of an irrational, silly bit of total BS on yer part, O Great Original Wit and Thinker! ;-D!!!

This is from the judge that threw out Plame’s lawsuit:
“Two additional publications are central to the events leading up to this action. First, an oped written by Mr. Wilson, entitled “What I Didn’t Find in Africa,” appeared in the July 6, 2003, edition of the New York Times. Id. ¶ 19(n). In that op-ed, Mr. Wilson asserted “that he had taken a trip to Niger at the request of the CIA in February 2002 to investigate allegations that Iraq had sought or obtained uranium yellowcake from Niger, . . . that he doubted Iraq had obtained uranium from Niger recently” and “that the Office of the Vice President had been advised of the results of his trip.” Id. This information was also publicly conveyed by Mr. Wilson in the course of his appearance as a guest on the July 6 edition of the television show “Meet the Press,” and in an interview with a reporter that provided the basis for a July 6 Washington Post article about the
Niger trip. Id.
Subsequently, on July 14, 2003, several national newspapers, including the Chicago Sun Times and The Washington Post, published a column by writer Robert Novak that discussed the Niger trip. Id. ¶ 14. Novak’s column stated, in relevant part: “[Joseph] Wilson never worked for the CIA, but his wife, Valerie Plame, is an Agency operative on weapons of mass destruction. Two senior administration officials told me Wilson’s wife suggested sending him to Niger . . . .” Id. The publication of Novak’s column revealed to the public, for the first time, Mrs. Wilson’s “previously secret and classified CIA identity.” Id. The disclosure of this information “destroyed her cover as a classified CIA employee.” Id. The Government has conceded that Mrs. Wilson’s identity was classified in July 2003 and that her “cover was blown” when Novak’s column was published. Id. ¶¶ 21, 22.â€

September 27th, 2007 at 1:47 amNice cut and paste job Nat, but the material you quoted wasn’t in the sentencing report and still doesn’t prove that she was a covert agent. only that the Judge that threw out Plame’s lawsuit, (hmmmm, that notion really supports that she wasn’t an agent doesn’t it, because if she was an agent the suit would have been allowed to proceed, but I digress) used the statements to support his findings, which I reiterate for the cheap seats, where to dismiss Plame’s suit. In order to make his findings he had to consider Ms. Plame’s assertions in a light most favorable to her case. That doesn’t mean they were true!

I realize facts mean little to those who want to engage in rightwing spin, but Soon-Yi Previn was Mia Farrow’s adopted daughter–not Woody Allen’s. Furthermore, as far as his being a “child molester” is concerned, Soon-Yi was 22–a legal adult when the relationship began. Moreover, they later married and remain legally wed. From Wikipedia:
September 27th, 2007 at 3:42 am“Soon-Yi Previn or Soon-Yi Farrow (born October 8, 1970) is the adopted Korean daughter of Mia Farrow and Andre Previn. She is married to director Woody Allen.”
I really don’t even mean to defend Woody Allen’s relationship with a much younger woman, but facts are facts. She wasn’t a child at the time.
And finally repeat all the rightwing spin you want: even the director of the CIA confirmed that Valerie Plame had been a covert agent until outed by some neoCONs.
Why can’t other dems learn a bit from Bill? Fight back damn it!
September 27th, 2007 at 4:44 am>I didn’t see anyone convicted for outing a CIA agent.
No, but someone was convicted of impeding the investigation, and the prosecutor went out of his way to say that the convicted obscructionist prevented him from determining whether a larger crime was committed…

But good for him. Why can’t the other Dems show some outrage like that? When was the last time you heard Kerry or Pelosi or Reid angry like that? With them it’s only “oh, it’s unfortunate that the right honorable gentleman on the other side of the aisle would so and so and so…”
Man, show some anger! Because that’s when people start listening!

Generals are to be rated on their military acumen – not which politicians they agree with. It is worth pointing out, though, that, for the first time ever, the military is now majority D, not majority R.

I think he’s just a “good actor” he remind’s me of B.Bush with those wide open eye’s!Dont let em fool ya he’s gotta be good for Hillary! dont forget,#1 she voted for the war, #2 want’s to leave troops in there and #3 voted to go after Iran! She didnt try to hard for healthcare and is just using that to sit in the white house again and pick up where Bush leaves off!! No one talk’s about Dennis Kucinich he sound’s like the next president to me.

Or geography! The president of Nicaragua (Central America) is Daniel Ortega; Chavez is the president of Venezuela (South America). BTW, Venezuela had one of highest rates of growth in the world last year.
September 27th, 2007 at 3:05 pmIs it a “free speech” issue? You BET it is. I have phoned all of my “representatives” and they did their best to point to the far right while I was talking to them. They simply cannot accept that telling people to, in essence, to SHUT UP is infringing heavily on our rights to free speech. That is why THEY need to be shut out at the earliest election available.
Whoever compared Bill with Jimmy Carter is a tad off bubble. Carter has lost all the good he could have done by publishing the screed about Israel being an Apartheid state. If Israel is Apartheid, so is the United States, and we certainly are NOT Apartheid in any sense of the word.
Bill called it like it is: mock shock. Had General Pat…sorry my mind just clicked a gear…told the turth he would have been fired. I believe that he knows the truth, but with Butcher Bush at the helm you do NOT say the truth or you will be fired.
I am not a Christian but Jesus was a liberal; one might say a flaming liberal. Ghandi once said, “I like your Jesus, I do not like his followers, they are so unlike Jesus.”
Butcher Bush said that any country that supports terrorism is against us. We should have attacked the country that sent the individuals who detroyed the twin towers: Saudi Arabia. Instead, the Butcher has innocent blood dripping from his hands. I believe his legacy will be insanity when he realizes at last how many innocent men, women, and children’s blood is on his hands.
Time will tell but he will spend the rest of his life in a prison of his own making.
September 27th, 2007 at 3:13 pmThe big difference is that my “prejudice” doesn’t start pretend wars.
September 27th, 2007 at 3:30 pmI didn’t notice if anyone had corrected this yet but, as far as I can tell, the house resolution hasn’t even been voted on yet:
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:HE00644:@@@L&summ2=m&#status
It was simply referred to committee with 33 sponsors. I didn’t check to see if there were any Dems on the list.
That doesn’t change anything about other voting patterns that everyone else has pointed out. I choke almost every time Diane Feinstein votes. I just wish we’d get some kind of real opposition here in California to her machine. She routinely wins by landslides. Painful!
September 27th, 2007 at 4:12 pmIt is upsetting to see Ms. Clinton to go along with a looser and one of the imminent supporters of the war in Iraq (Lieberman) – in trying to make it easier for Bush administration to prepare uninformed audience for yet another possible and far bloodier conflict. All because Iran says what most Americans want: end the war in Iraq, has mastered nuclear technology on its own and wants to use it for peaceful purposes according to international guideline, or perhaps getting some of those who buy politicians in DC upset over its concerns for neglected Palestinians!
September 27th, 2007 at 4:14 pmThe core theme here is the “bait and switch” tactic. Republicans can divert the public’s attention from the REAL issues of an illegal and unwinnable war and the horrendous corruption associated with it, not to mention all the lies that got us into it and keep us there.
The longer we stay, the more profit the movers and shakers of our current administration will make. This war is NOT about the administration’s publicly stated principles – it’s about looting the US Treasury for war profiteers. Rolling Stone magazine published an article in the August 23 issue called “The Great Iraq Swindle” which gives facts and figures supporting this. You can read it here:

Comment by Tired Of Fighting — September 26, 2007 @ 10:19 pm
I am the newbie here… I beg that you please forgive my short comings upfront .
After reading the entire blogsphere here… TIRED of FIGHTING caught my attention the most and encouraged me to rise to stand and blog.
While we as bloggers and citizens, busily fling inuendos and poo… the mockery and debauchery of this current administration continues (not to mention how many lost their life while just in this time of blog). It is our actions that speak most highly and eloquently of our intentions… not our words, whether written or spoken. I believe Mr. Clinton understands that. Now, as citizens of a country that is suppose to believe in INTEGRITY… it will only be through our combined actions as voters to bring in a new president and administration that is not only willing to listen to American citizens (free-speech) but more to the point, of acting in the best interest of this nation as a whole, in a fashion that brings dignity and integrity back to the forefront of our young nation’s existence. That is the message I got from TIRED OF FIGHTING… “KILLING BEGETS MORE KILLING and MUDSLINGING BEGETS MORE MUDSLINGING”.
For that my hat is off and I truly bow to TIRED OF FIGHTING’s perspective on this blog. Although I don’t have the answer to solve our political delema, I do know that if we are not true to the mission of ending this war and the scharade of a self-imposed heroic president and administration, along with back pedallers that just want a title with no intention of bearing truthful redeming qualities… then even our great-great grandchildren will bear the reprecussions of our lack of spine and lack of actions in the next election. I can only say that I am committed to do the very best I can at voting and voicing to bring our soldiers home… to give resources back to the Iraqis that America has been trying to usurp… and put our concerns of our citizens (health, education, general welfare and economic status of our country) back on track.
No matter what our personal feelings are… it is our combined effort that will bring about the POSITIVE change we are ALL hoping, praying, requesting and striving for. All though Bush’s statement of “GOD BLESS AMERICA” was used to rally citizens from a patriotic view point… my opinion is that until the next president says “GOD BLESS THIS OCEANPLANET” and works to find peace and brings integrity back to our nation’s hearth and heart… then we are doomed to repeat history, over and over again, until there is nothing left of our EARTH or America. That is our only hope… that no matter what political side you are on… it will take a whopping majority of American citizens to bring our troops home… and make peace… for the rest of the world to see America’s ambitions are not for the Saudi’s good graces… but more for correcting a political blunder that should never have happened.
Wishing many blessings for those that truly want to MAKE PEACE instead of WAR… and are willing to put their actions where their words are… I believe MOVEON and Mr. Clinton are trying to head in the right direction… it is up to us to quit the bickering and be part of the solution in one way or another.
Yours truly,

Agree with Veritas. I just went went to CA Supervisor of Elections site and will be submitting the paperwork to change my party affiliation from Democrat to Independent. Maybe we can scare the “politics as usual” crowd into listening to the “power of the people.”
the web address in CA is http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections
September 27th, 2007 at 5:49 pmI hope President Clinton was also referring to the Democrats in Congress who voted for the anti-MoveOn resolution when ripping the right wing. By now, I pretty much consider the Democratic Party as part of the right wing.
September 27th, 2007 at 6:11 pmThanks for the link Azor…
the web address in CA is http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections
I just changed my party affiliation too! Damn the Dems! They sure as HELL don’t represent ME anymore.
Thanks for making it easy to act on my will.

I hope that it does not sound like these 2 parities share the common agenda of staying in Iraq with the their eyes on Iraqi oil resources, while defense contractors and oil men are ripping off the American resources.
September 27th, 2007 at 6:52 pmIn my experience in what I have lived through and seen from JFK being assinated and the Vietnam War, Nixon, Regan, Bush Sr, and Bush Jr, I think all of you people need to take a step back and think what is the right thing for this country. We have only experienced progress for the people through a democratic presidency and will only continue to do so with a democratic president. He represents “the people” we are the goverment and we elect the officials to represent we the people. Have people become so ignorant to the fact that there is a way to change what is happening to this country? Read, educate yourselves and stop listening to the media. Have a mind of your own……………Republicans have only one thing in mind, their pockets and the untimate goal of the GOD almighty dollar for personal gain. Get back to basics, take the power back and live the democratic belief on what this country was born of, FREEDOM, vote for the canidate that represents the people not himself…………………..as for the YAAHOOS in this counry God will get ya and hold you accountalbe for such poor choices and ill wishes……………………………………Keep killing our soldiers who are dying for what? OIL………………….not 9/11 let’s get real here are we all in denial………………………..smarten up US and do your self a favor read some history……………………………..
September 27th, 2007 at 7:46 pmThe TOP BRASS at MacDill AFB here in Tampa Bay called Petraeus “an ass-kissing chicken shit”.- That is all I need to know. Not that I didn’t figure he was carrying water for Dubya. How many Generals has Bush gone thru now? Sad that he is able to keep finding ass-kissing chicken shits in the service. Who are they ‘SERVING’ anyway? We must take back our Country before Bush and the boys TOTALLY destroy it.
September 27th, 2007 at 8:02 pmParty affiliation or registration (both Dem & Rep) will get you a opportunity to vote in primaries in states like Arizona. If you’re a registered independant you can’t. In this day and age when both major parties are not representative of the populace as a whole party affiliation means little. I have never voted the party line and only give money to who and what I believe in. Until the two party strangle hold is broken very little will change in this country.
Peoples attitudes have to change also. Everyone of voting age needs to get involved in learning the issues of the day. One has to read Newspapers and Books and listen to what comes over the airways, both TV and Radio. Most people today get there news from one source (Hannity & Limbaugh for instance) and don’t get a balanced perspective. If more people had put in the effort to do this the last two elections (Presidential) wouldn’t have turned out the way they did and Mr. Clinton wouldn’t have had to make the statements that he did on the Anderson Cooper 360 show.
We have only ourselves to blame for the situation we are in. The question becomes, Are we going to do anything about it?
September 27th, 2007 at 8:15 pmBill made this Country better, richer, and functional. It’s a tragedy seeing Bush and the Gang destroying the Country with a very costly, unjustified war, corruption, lies, and bad decisions.
September 27th, 2007 at 8:44 pmWill we ever regain our dignity after this tragedy? I wonder if America will ever recover from this DISASTER!

Thank god someone is saying something on our behalf. Just tell it like it is…
September 27th, 2007 at 9:19 pmMy Rant!
“He who is the author of a war lets loose the whole contagion of hell and opens a vein that bleeds a nation to death. ” – Thomas Paine
Ok, OK let me get this straight. We are in Iraq to promote freedom, I think? That would include the right to say what one thinks or feels – apparently not! Censorship is alive and well and living in Amerika! Or as one of our of the creators of this countries constitution, Thomas Payne once said:
“These are the times that try men’s souls…” They certainly do!
Let’s face it folks we live in a hypocrisy not a democracy! Thank you Tired of Fighting for your comments, they were righteous and true and came form the heart, purple or not. Men like this are the true heroes, these are the backbone of America. This is who I admire, not general BETRAY us. Shout it loud people, scream it, beat the drum of change.
I think it’s time that the impotent, dull, bureaucratic, ignorant, self righteous, self important, ineffectual, stupid cabal known as Congress and the Senate strip down naked and take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror. I know a ghastly sight at best. Oh what the heck, throw in the idiots in the supreme court as well who gave this country away in the year 2000 when the people of this country cast almost 1,000,000 more popular votes for Gore then the existing shrubbery who now sits rooted in the white house in trenched in a policy that smells suspiciously like – well bull shit! Oh, what are we supposed to do, bow to the will of the people. We know what they want, we know what they need! Well, no they don’t. We know what we want and what we need and it’s not what we’ve got right now!
“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” – Voltaire
A little food for thought we should all ponder, yes you too Deomrats and Repuppets! How dare you criticise anyone when the blood of over 3,500 innocent men and women soil your hands. And, tell me, have we now killed more Iraqi’s then Saddam Hussein ever did. Does that mean we’ll have to hang the shrubbery to atone for our sins? Oh, I forgot, we’re the good guys. Why is that I might ask?
“How much evil does it take to do good?” – Robert McNamara, “The Fog of War”
Well I guess we’ve just lost the spirit and the common sense that made this once a great country. I applaud “Tired of fighting’s” comments, he’s got it right. Anybody remember Vietnam? The domino theory, if we leave all of South East Asia will go communist. Oh, oh, and now Vietnam is our number one trading partner in South East Asia. So much for that theory.
Yes, the communist Bogey man, we do need our bogeymen and we’ve got a good one now that we’ll never catch, perhaps because we don’t want too, because lets face it, Osama is even a better Bogey man then Saddam. Beside, Saddam’s dead and we no longer need him. We took his country and used him as a buffer against Iran. Duh! did we forget that our good friend Saddam fought against that other evil empire Iran, whose baaaaaak, and we supplied him with arms. Oh, that, come on folks, we needed him then, and then we needed his oil. Hello! Let’s not fool ourselves.
“Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” – George Santayana:
Isn’t that the truth? Have we been here before? Am I getting a massive Deja vu here? I marvel at the wonderful slight of hand that is created over stupid stuff. Anything but deal with the real issues.
THEY HAVE STOLEN OUR COUNTRY!
THEY LIED TO US AND CONTINUE TO DO SO!
Think wizard of oz folks, pull back the curtain and behind it is a tiny little arrogant man, strutting around, spouting silly statements, “Mission accomplished”! that will come back and bite him in the ass.
So thank you, thank, thank you Move on.org for staying “on purpose”: – “staying the course…” This country was built on revolution. We are a strong resilient people and we will win this fight. Why can’t we get a vote of 370 to 79 to end the WAR – from our silly little self involved, talking heads spouting the same old tired rhetoric we’ve heard way too many times… Who among you has the courage, the fortitude, the intelligence and oh god, the common sense to stand up and be counted, to speak the truth, to tell it like it is, to do the right thing! Anyone….anyone at all?
“You’re either part of the solution or part of the problem.”
– Eldridge Cleaver
Which are you?
September 28th, 2007 at 2:08 amTHIS IS CLINTON AT HIS BEST!!!! Thank God for presidents like himself. Bush and the rest of the republicans in this country who support him can go somewhere. It is groups like MoveOn.com that help educate the Amerian people who tend to be uneducated about the situations our country is involved in. If we search long and hard enough we will get answers. That is what GOP is scared of..we need to scare them..people educate yourself, join MoveOn.com and other groups like it and begin to make a difference..pass the word on and sooner or later (hopefully sooner)the youth in our nation (my generation) will be eduacated enough not to make the same mistakes that those did who put an idiot like Bush in the presidential seat. LET’S NEVER MAKE THAT SAME MISTAKE AGAIN!!!!! I ask for the youth, the elderly, the people in the middle, I am asking for EVERYONE IN THE WORLD…..PLEASE LET US FIX THIS BY EDUCATING OURSELVES AND OTHERS.
We started out in this war to get rid of weapons of mass destruction — they were never found. Then the purpose changed to take Sadam out of power — he was hung and killed a long time ago. Now we are in the war to bring Iraq freedom — NEWSFLASH: THEY DONT WANT US THERE..BRING THE TROOPS HOME!!!! THEY ARE FIGHTING TO THE DEATH, KILLING THEMSELVES AND CHILDREN TO PROVE THAT THEY HATE US. ANYTIME I SIT DOWN AND GET AN EMAIL FROM A FRIEND WHO IS ALSO 18 OR 19 YEARS OLD AND THERE IS A LINK TO WATCH A VIDEO OF A YOUNG IRAQI BOY SCREAMING INTO THE MIC IN FRONT OF HIM THAT “AMERICANS ARE SCUM THEY ARE THE ROOT OF EVIL AND SHOULD ALL DIE” WE HAVE A PROBLEM.
BRING OUR TROOPS HOME, END THIS WAR, AND GET BUSH OUT OF OFFICE!!!
It is sad to think that I, whom I would like you to know am only 18 years old, have more education than the idiots who put Bush where he is. It is sickening to know that Bush has screwed up our nation so bad that it is going to take probably until I die to fix what he has done. Please help me in helping the children that i hope to have one day not live with the same crap I deal with.
PLEASE SAVE AMERICA!!!!
September 28th, 2007 at 3:22 amThanks alstoa – being the father of two sons, a 19 year old and a 17 year old I hear ya! Why is it that the young men and women of today have more common sense then the idiots in the white house – I did the 60’s, Nam, protests, civil rights…. – it’s your turn guys, you have new challenges, a new war, global warming, water shortages… just the beginning! But first, take back your country!
common_sense
September 28th, 2007 at 4:00 amThis is how the president of the USA and his fellow republicans stand in front of a camera and show to the american people and the rest of the world just how petty they are. Their nothing but a bunch of war mongers, and stoop as low as you can go, with their lies and deception, to get what they want. Who would think the president of the USA would act like a cry baby, on national tv, and condem the same type of tactics that he and his fellow republicans are guilty of, and have perfected it to make it just part of duing buisness. He and the rest of the gop have been doing the same and a lot worse since watergate. The watergate crew were cubscouts compared to this crew.
September 28th, 2007 at 4:49 amBill is at his best as with most past presidents he has realized that he was used by the CFR and the world banking organizations to put you and me into poverty and to take away our right and ability to fight. The patriot act is by far the worst thing that has ever happened. Bill wont strait out condem or name names of those who lorded over him while he was president, Because he wants to live.
Our Current President is a Domestic enemy to the american way of life. His family has been in the pockets and on the council of the most sinister organisation to ever settle on this earth. His families history includes supporting the germans during world war II via sales of needed Fuel for the lufwafa.
Also look into the history of thier actions and connections to the binladen family including Osama via the Carlyle Group.
How this plain sight enemy became the president is a complete farce. His Coruptors paid for his seat and sold it to the american public. Thanks to that one man we are now the most hated country in the world. All the hard work done by presdent Regan undone as Russia has closed its borders and desolved its democratic government has start a building its arms and playing advocate to Cold war stance against america with China not far behind. If he pushes and gains support to attack Iran we will be the focus of world war III the world vs America. Hint We cannot win there unfourtunatley is not enough of us to even beat China. Not to mention that the UN has started to move against us and has passed quiet talks of sanctions against us and the revocation of our perminant membership. We have turned into the tirrents!!!
If you think you are free think again. The patriot act is nothing more than the gestopo. You can be arrested detained and have all your posetions taken without any right to council or even a right to know what the charges are. Be prepared to defend your rights with a gun against the current gestopo in charge here. The SS is comming and president Bush has laid the ground work to make sure we cant fight back.
September 28th, 2007 at 10:51 pmI am writing a comment not for attention, but I want to be a person who will be counted. I will be a number, but on the right side of where my number needs to be counted. People of the United States of America! Take back this country with the power vested in you by our founding fathers! Vote with your conscience, not your self interest! Take back this government “of the people, by the people, for the people.” Let us once again let our flag wave for “the land of the free and the home of the brave!”. There was a time when the whole world loved the United States and wanted to move here. It was a time when the American personality was an outspoken honest voice that spoke for generosity, mutual respect, kindness and intelligence. Yes, I know, every situation is complicated, but truth, honesty and righteous purpose never change under any circumstances.
September 29th, 2007 at 2:40 pmAs much as I hate to say it there is no way a Democrat will win the white house in 2008. Hillary is just to much of a flip flopping idiot. If she would just stick with her true feelings on an issue she may be alright. Unfortunatly nobody knows what those feelings are because she changes them every time there’s a new pole that differs from her previous answer to a question. One year ago she said she’d torture a terrorist to save the day. Now she says no and learns that her husband said he would if he was in that situation. The reason she said no is because she’s feeling pressure from the moveon and mediamatters idiots. I truly believe that moveon and mediamaters have been taken over buy conservatives. Every day mediamatters is putting false out of context stories about conservative commentaters that are being picked up by everyone but foxnews and being told as the truth. If the stories were true it’d be fine but they’re not and it’s making our left leaning media and our democratic leaders look like idiots. Why lie when we don’t need to. Republican’s are in real trouble and we keep giving them to many chances to get power back.
September 30th, 2007 at 12:49 amI am so sick of the Bush BS. Attack and spread lies about anyone who will expose Bush for what he is. Remember Bush’s base is the right wing centered around the religious right. It’s the same group of hypocrites that raced tripping over themselves to Bush when he said “I have Jesus in my heart”. Just once we need to look at the actions of Bush and not what he says(pretends). Before 9/11 Bush’s greatest action was a huge tax break for the richest among us. Now I ask you was that action “of Christ or the opposite of Christ”? Then comes 9/11 and Bush’s action was to lie to start a war. Again I ask was that action “of Christ or the opposite of Christ”? Look at Bush a little closer and you will find many, many more examples. The book of Matthew warns that many shall come in his name and many shall be deceived. Bush is the opposite of Christ and many have been deceived!
