The Fox News network is now in full drumbeat mode, trying to promote a war against Iran.
Last night, armchair General Sean Hannity did his part to beat the Iran war drums. On Hannity and Colmes, the bellicose host devoted half the show to previewing “what a U.S. strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities would look like“:
HANNITY: Mission: Iran Showdown. The objective: destroy and disable Iran’s top nuclear facilities, impact its ability to process and enrich uranium, delay its ability to manufacture and deploy nuclear weapons, all while crippling the ruling regime.
The network also announced that this Saturday at 9 pm, it will air a “Fox News investigative piece” entitled Iran: Ticking Bomb. The show will be hosted by Dan Senor, the former spokesman for the Coalition Provisional Authority. Watch it:
Fox has also been parading one pro-Iran war voice after another.
Earlier in the evening, Hannity hosted former UN ambassador John Bolton to discuss Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s speech at the United Nations. Asked by Hannity “when will America and must America at some time respond militarily,” Bolton responded, “well, I think it’s entirely appropriate.”
Later in the evening, Hannnity brought AEI’s Michael Ledeen and Ret. Col. Chuck Nash on the show to validate the need to bomb Iran. The two analysts are both hawks advocating “regime change” in Iran. Ledeen agreed with Hannity that America should attack “terrorist training camps” in Iran. Nash was open to the military option, but preferred other means.
On Monday, the network displayed a graphic that appears to sum up the fear-mongering feelings about Iran at Fox News: “Is war the only way to stop Mahmoud?”
UPDATE: Last month, Brave New Films put together a video showing how Fox’s rhetoric towards Iran is eerily similar to it’s pre-war rhetoric on Iraq. Watch it HERE.

Looks like Darth has his “news” network primed and ready, wonder if CNN will follow suit now?

Hey loudmouth, if you didn’t serve, jsut STFU.
September 26th, 2007 at 4:50 pmI used to think Campbell Brown was hot until she married Dan Senor.
September 26th, 2007 at 4:51 pmHaven’t we been down this road before? All the elements are there. Fox is elevating the boogeyman status of another head of state and ramping up the fear. All the talking heads are focusing on this sudden “threat”.
Notice that nobody is coming up with any REALISTIC way of fighting a war with Iran. We hear the calls for massive air strikes, but an air war without a ground war is unlikely to bring about a surrender with these guys (yes, it worked with Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but that was different). We have no combat units available to engage in a ground war. We are already in hock to China up to our eyeballs with the failed wars we have, so it’s not like we have a whole lot of money to fight any more wars, either.
A majority of Americans don’t want any more war — with Iraq, Iran, or anywhere else. Get a clue, Fox.
September 26th, 2007 at 4:53 pmThat is one f*ing scary video.
These freaks really do want more and more wars. We already know that Rupert Murdoch admitted that he tried to shape the agenda on the Iraq war. Now he’s doing it again with Iran.
And given the performance of Congress just today, how do we stop these maniacs?
September 26th, 2007 at 4:55 pmIf they do this then the only way to protect the troops in iraq would be to pull them out.
September 26th, 2007 at 4:56 pmI’m really going to be convinced when they start using “9-11″ and Iran in the same breath that this is inevitable.
September 26th, 2007 at 4:56 pmSean Hannity is such a fricking coward that he won’t even debate Ed Schultz, much less go to war. Sean is a big, blustering wimp.
September 26th, 2007 at 4:57 pmCalling all republicans. Stop this now. We have our troops in 2 countries right now and can’t effectively go thru with invading a 3rd. This is complete madness. Come to your senses. Look at the damage that has been done by invading Iraq. Look at how stretched our military is. Look at how we are paying for the current invasions. We cannot successfully accomplish what Fox and others are pushing.
For the love of this country, stop this now. Before it’s too late and that will be in the form of a mushroom cloud. Only it will be from our hands.
September 26th, 2007 at 4:57 pmWow - complete with cartoons and background music. Even Hannity admitted in there - probability of success, low. Then he throws in “regime change.” Remind me, what’s the definition of insanity, Hannity?
September 26th, 2007 at 4:58 pmThat is, post #11, unless the pro-war advocates start joining up. So far there are no lines forming around the recruitment offices.
September 26th, 2007 at 4:58 pmBush doesn’t listen to congress, but the Generals, ergo Vannitys’ plan is falling on deaf ears.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:00 pmNuclear facilities…
Terrorists training…
Whatever…
I bet they have solid proofs.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:00 pmI’m really going to be convinced when they start using “9-11″ and Iran in the same breath that this is inevitable.
Comment by Rick O. — September 26, 2007 @ 4:56 pm
They already have planted this little kernel when they refused to allow Ahmadinehad to pay his respects at ground zero because of his ties to terrorism. I’m sure the brilliant Fox News viewers already believe he had something to do with 9/11 and that’s why there was an uproar about him going there.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:03 pmIf they do this then the only way to protect the troops in iraq would be to pull them out.
Comment by Xisithrus — September 26, 2007 @ 4:56
Like they care about protecting the troops in Iraq. That’s an issue they pay lip service to and nothing more.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:05 pmHannity must be deep into his new Halo game.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:10 pmSelf appointed ****General Hannity,
September 26th, 2007 at 5:11 pmWhat happens after you attack Iran and draw Russia and China into World War III against an already depleted US military?
You may want to consider the possibility that you will not be greeted as a liberator, they may shoot back, and you could get our collective asses kicked above our ears.
The smart bloggers here at TP know that simply bombing something (training camps, facilities, etc) will do no good. There is never a time where bombing will work when there is no plan for boots on the ground. We also know that we are running out of troops, so where are they going to come from?
This is another political ploy by the criminal administration to scare the citizens again - and it is going to work. We get the government we deserve, as so far, we are deserving of George W Bush. We knew he was a loser from the first day we heard he was running. We knew he was brining in losers from the Nixon era. We knew he avoided all responsibility growing up and into adulthood. We knew he has a tendancy to start things he cannot finish. We knew he was a born again person who listens to God. Don’t crazy peope listen to entities which are not there? We deserve george W Bush becvause we have allowed his cancer on our once great nation to fester and grow. It is or fault we have him around. We could do something about it, but we won’t.
All I’m going to say is that if you love your children, move away now. They will be caught up in the draft and they will be sent away to be killed. The ego of our king is paramount to anything else. We have allowed a King to rule this great land of ours. Do you remember the Constitution? Your king doesn’t.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:11 pmAfter the first wave of Schock and Awe wear off, the Iranians will pour across the border and hi the American targets that are conviently in easy striking distance, in Iraq. I am sure though that the Iraqis will be glad to jump to our defense.
Slaughter the 160,000 troops in Iraq?
Where do these sick f*cks come from?
September 26th, 2007 at 5:18 pmOnce China calls in it’s debt, there won’t be any money left for the US to buy bombs or bullets and Wall Street will crash.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:19 pmNotice that nobody is coming up with any REALISTIC way of fighting a war with Iran. We hear the calls for massive air strikes, but an air war without a ground war is unlikely to bring about a surrender with these guys (yes, it worked with Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but that was different). We are already in hock to China up to our eyeballs with the failed wars we have, so it’s not like we have a whole lot of money to fight any more wars, either.
You honestly think these clowns can plan their way past tomorrow? They invaded Iraq without a passing thought about how to control the occupation and look what happened.
This time there are more lives at stake. How many Iranians will die as a result of the tactical nukes? How many AMERICANS will die in Iraq when the Iranian military floods across the border in retaliation?
These dipshits are setting up the overworked, nearly broken military already in Iraq to be overrun, but they are too stupid and too blind to see it.
And we haven’t even touched on how much of the world will turn on us for this act. I guess Bushco just can’t make enough enemies fast enough.
You think Musharraf will last a week after this happens? The radicals will rush to overthrow him and control the Pakistani nukes for payback over our nuking Iran.
And for the frosting on the crap cake, HELLLLOOO $100-$150+/barrel oil as the Straits of Hormuz become a minefield and the supply to the world becomes choked by the conflict.
Fox is pushing for the doomsday scenario and the intellectually lazy public doesn’t even realize it.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:20 pm“The President Cheney News network is now in full drumbeat mode, trying to promote a war against Iran.”—-from the Gang that Can’t Shoot Straight.
Cheney certainly has his asswipe employees of Faux Noose working overtime to panhandle the Iran propaganda. Pass the popcorm please….
September 26th, 2007 at 5:20 pmWill General Hannity be leading the charge? What, no? I didn’t think so.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:20 pmAt least is was a fair and balanced report.
Anyways, when things go all wrong (which it inevitably will with this group leading the way) the republicans will just blame the 80% of the population that didn’t’ want any of this to begin with for being traitors, and not supporting the troops. And of course the Democrats will agree with them.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:21 pmWe will not nuke Iran. It would make getting to the oil too dangerous.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:22 pmThese people think we can just bomb without getting embroiled into another ground war, while we are bogged down in a war next f*cking door in Iraq.
Total insanity.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:23 pmThis is just unbelievable

September 26th, 2007 at 5:25 pmIf there was ever, I mean EVER a case for COMPLETE censorship of the press these guys are the PRIORITY target. OH, and mass arrest/renedetion to Gitmo for ALL OF THEM!
September 26th, 2007 at 5:26 pmNow here’s an interesting perspective: http://antiwar.com/ orig/ giraldi.php?articleid=11666
This would certainly spoil those neocon dreams.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:27 pmNo need to censor Fox (fake) News, just make them run a tagline that says “This show for entertainment purposes only, not to be confused with reality.”
September 26th, 2007 at 5:28 pmSo how can it be okay for Fox news to promote war and more killing of our troops and not okay for MoveOn to criticize General Petraeus?
September 26th, 2007 at 5:28 pmWe need Congress to create an amendment condemning Fox News for instigating war with Iran. Write your members of Congress requesting this amendment.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:30 pmIf Bush is stupid enough to bomb Iran and the Gates of Hormuz then get closed and the price of gasoline goes to ten dollars a gallon, maybe then the American people will finally decide, that, yes, maybe it’s time to try Bush for Treason after all.
Americans can tolerate alot these days (stolen elections, lies, torture, destruction of our Constitution, and illegal criminal wars), but they won’t be very keen on filling up their SUV gas tanks for three hundred dollars a pop…
September 26th, 2007 at 5:32 pmGOP’s pulling out the stops. The most recent polls have them totally tanked in 08 so they’re getting very, very desperate now. Bombing Iran and/or another ‘false flag’ operation are their only two remaining options. And, even then, they still won’t get back into the White House for decades.

September 26th, 2007 at 5:36 pmCoffins: If the real truth be told, Fox News should have a Congressional amendment against the lies they told americans about Iraq for starters. And now there should be another amendment exposing their lies about Iran.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:37 pmBesides, how many deaths has MoveOn caused? How many deaths has the propaganda spewed by a fictitious news station like Fox News caused? The total is nearing 4,000 americans right not. This is the case against Fox News - they are complicit and equally guilty under the law for defrauding the american people.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:38 pmPeople are leaving this country in droves. It’s a shadow of it’s former self and, if Congress and Deadeye Dick get their way, soon to be totally destroyed.

Agreed. I would add if American idol or dancing with the stars was dropped, the populace might wake up, but even then I doubt it. A lazy democracy encourages fascism - and this is where we are. America will never be the same - never. And after we invade Iran, Bush would have united 5-10 Billion people against the US. Why do the chickenhawks think this is a good idea?

We’re owned already by communist china for the Iraq war so how do you get money from a rock? As well, where would the military come from when our present military is already outstretched to the breaking point?
Just a few “incidentals” which I’m sure these neo-fascists have forgotten to consider….
September 26th, 2007 at 5:44 pmThis ticking Bomb theme is crazy. Iran is years away form producing enough enriched uranium to build a nuclear bomb. Scientists need to explain this on the news.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:44 pmAnd what if they did succeed in producing a few nukes with missiles? Iran has an address. Attacking a superpower with a few measely nuclear missiles would be insane and suicidal for Iran. The only value Iran would have for nuclear weapons would be for DETERRENCE.
And what does Iran need deterrence for. Watch fox news!

They have nothing lose if the war started tomorrow how long the war will last makes no difference to them.
They are sitting in the studio with nice expensive suits,in an airconditioned room…pushing for a war that our kids only will soon be losing their lives by hundreds if not thousands..
Iranians will also be losing thousands of their own people..and their lives become miserable as a result of this big lie that Hannity and company is selling on his show.
He was told to do this..by his masters…he is losing nothing, and when people like Hannity lose their souls, the pretty suit they have on will not make them look nicer.
The Fox network really lowered the standard of reporting and journalism to new lows.

Yep. You got it. Even a staunch repub friend of mine says that it will take 10-20 years for the planet to start trusting us again - if we live that long. When I was younger, I often wondered what would happen if a few big countries started to gang up on us (financially or economically). Now with the Euro gaining, it just maybe happening. I cannot believe just how much bush has ruined this country in such a short time.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:54 pmI only wish that gerneral Sean Hannity could take his brigade of chickenshit, chickenhawk, armchair rangers into battle…it would be the end of that flat-headed moron, forever.
September 26th, 2007 at 5:55 pmIs there any other country on earth that would tolerate a network actively campaigning to declare war on another country? Did TASS broadcast programs like this, actively calling for the Soviet Union to bomb the US?
It’s Kafkaesque.

That would play right into BushCo’s hands; “See! They attacked our soldiers so now we have to drop the Big One on them”
Just like the Gulf of Tonkin Incident which started the last Clusterf@ck of a war.
September 26th, 2007 at 6:08 pmUs is preparing to attack Iran.
Iran is absolutely entitled to attack first.
Preemptive wars… dont you love ithem?
September 26th, 2007 at 6:11 pmI’m all for war war with Iran. It’s about time that the US destroyed itself. It’s beyond hope at this point.
September 26th, 2007 at 6:18 pmupside99,
I agree with you that Bush is looking for an excuse, any excuse to kick off another war in his name. I give it a 50/50 that that miserable loser will bomb Iran before we kick his filthy ass out of the WH. But why? What is the underlying motivation? Is it oil? Is it is “legacy”? Is it the thrill of power? Is it Jesus?????

I don’t think so……Like every thing else these miserable representative’s are going to start another war against another innocent country and run the clock out on all the realy needed thing’s for our own…….I am ashamed of this country and sick to death of the warmonger’s that run it……Peace is the answer, not war’s…..Blessings
September 26th, 2007 at 6:32 pmmiss molly, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not tried in the absence of grount troops. We had already occupied Okinawa, and were preparing for the land invasion.
If we were boigged down in the Solomon Islands and it was an ultra-long-range Doolittle-style attack, it might not have caused Japan’s surrender.
And as for Hannity, my reaction tends to be “Oh look! Another Al Qaeda recruiting commercial!”
September 26th, 2007 at 6:32 pmBush needs to secure his funding for the coming fiscal year in the Iraq war first. He’s asking $190 billion from Congress for the war, a far greater amount than ever before. That funding will take him almost to the end of his so-called “War Presidency”. Once he gets that money secured, I think we’ll see an even stronger offensive to go to war against Iran. I think we’ll then see the real marketing for an Iran war get ramped up.

Hannnity brought AEI’s Michael Ledeen on the show to validate the need to bomb Iran……advocating “regime change†in Iran. Ledeen agreed with Hannity that America should attack “terrorist training camps†in Iran.
Ledeen is a neocon architect of the war in Iraq. The war in Iraq was supposed to be a cakewalk, and a warmup for regime change in Iran.
Iran expressed sympathy with America after 911, and agreed to actively support our war against terrorism , as long as this effort was done under UN auspices. Iran was an enemy of the Taliban, and fought in Afghanistan to topple the taliban and force Al Qaeda out.
September 26th, 2007 at 6:35 pmBush made an enemy of Iran, with his axis of evil speech. A tragic lost opportunity.

Of course, the fact that the threat is largely imaginary is irrelevant, because the goals is not to protect the US against an actual enemy but to extend American presence/control throughout the Middle East.
Needless to say, the Bush personality cult followers will believe whatever the White House tells them through

September 27th, 2007 at 2:11 amSome points
September 27th, 2007 at 5:02 am1. The neocons have wanted to occupy Iran for a long time (rhetoric was there before the new Iraq officially started, even predates 9/11)
2. The president of Iran hasn’t really much power
3. The neocons are known deceivers (Machivellian/Straussian)
4. It’s proven that they lied about the Iraq threat (downings street memos, office of special plans, PNAC)
5. They have an extremely weak case (they can’t prove that there’s a nuclear weapons program)
6. A war with Iran would be a complete disaster and if you believe in this so called war on terrorism then you atleast oughta understand it’s entirely counterproductive (and the neocons also benefit from it, like 9/11 - see the need for a New Pearl Harbor, PNAC agenda)
7. Bolton said during an AIPAC speech that he wishes that Iran kicks out the inpection people because this would suit his agendas need
8. Iran’s nuclear program is very open and they have signed the NPT.
9. At UN a vote against a nuclear free middle-east was voted down by western government and Israel. Hypocrits
10. They lied about Iraq and they are certainly willing to lie again even though it will result in a large number of casualties (immoral)
11. The press in general does a very poor job or receives some orders from Pentagon/CIA whatever. They’ll help sell another war, and they’ll use fear tactics to psychologically prepera the population.
12. There might be a false flag guld of Tonkin event so the bombing invasion can begin (like Ron Paul and others have warned)
13. Kissinger has admitted that the Iran war will be because of the black gold
.
The beat goes on…
La De Da De Dee…

September 27th, 2007 at 6:21 amThis is my take on Bush’s speech at the UN a couple of days ago. What worries me is when Scott Pelley and CBS starts getting in on the act and misquotes the Iranian president right in front of him and seems to be falling in line with this “Iran must be stopped” line of shit that we’re hearing from the WH.
September 27th, 2007 at 7:44 amHere we go again! Down the slippery slope of war without credible cause! So predictable…
September 27th, 2007 at 8:20 amNotice how the COWARDS are the first to open their mouths. Drop them and their BS into IRAN so they can CONvince the Iranians they’re being noble. They should also see what those other than the 26% that enjoy watching things go round ‘n round ‘n round, what they think.
September 27th, 2007 at 10:59 amThey don’t have the guts to do that either. Their parents should be sooo proud of them, if they’re still talking to each other.
Newtie was on Greta Von Sustren’s show last night advocating bombing the sh*t out of Iran’s natural gas facilities…
One muses that the ‘nuclear threat’ posed by Iran is just another smokescreen, eh…?
September 27th, 2007 at 12:29 pmAll those weapons… wow. Fox is efing insane.
September 27th, 2007 at 12:50 pmI get the sense that the guys at Fox are playing this out on a Risk board game.
September 27th, 2007 at 1:20 pmhaha, how about Fox’s latest? Trying to come up with terror scenarios like terrorists hacking into our highly defended and private energy grid and blow stuff up?
Who are the REAL terrorists!?
September 27th, 2007 at 3:26 pm90 - how do you suppose cheney and rumsfeld developed their special brand of “foreign policy insight”, though they made it a scoche more “realistic” by taking their board over to the International dorm on campus and challenging students from abroad.
September 27th, 2007 at 8:24 pmEasy: check if Halliburton et alli. already got contracts to rebuild IRAN, to provide security, to train their troops, etc.
September 27th, 2007 at 9:37 pmIf so, war with Iran is imminent! That’s what happened with Iraq. Cheney’s “top secret” is obvious: he won’t tell anybody that it’s all about personal enrichment of some corporations/people. It doesn’t matter how many soldiers or Iranians will die, or how much we will pay for that!
The only think that matters is the fat PROFIT!!! That’s “the secret”….
Watch the propaganda for yourself:

Come on libs, lets go hold hands at the border and stop this. Iran is a cool place.
October 2nd, 2007 at 3:01 pmI think Hannity is very smart and conclusively has a grasp on reality and what eventully is going to have to be done. Iran is a great threat as it “progresses” in it’s nuclear capability and the republican party doesn’t want to sit around and wait for a devistating attack on America for it’s reason to go ahead and attack. It’s a matter of national security and we need to take the responsibility and do something about it.
