Here's a fantasy to ponder. Since our Generals are in conflict with Bush Team, and since Adm Fallon (I think) said there won't be any attack against Iran on his watch, THEN what if the Joint Chiefs of Staff, or Pentagon Big Guys, threatened to arrest Bush/Cheney/Neocons for a War Crimes trial if they order the Iran war? What if they threaten a coup? I think there is some real serious conflict between the Military and the Executive Office. Too far fetched???

The Dumbocrats are as inept as the Repukes, when it is time to look out for the best interests of this country. My sugestion is to vote for NO INCUMBENTS in the upcoming election!! It may well be too late, we are slipping down an increasingly slippery slope to obvilion.

I'm begging you all--please, please don't even bother to read Rory's comments. Above all, don't comment on his comments. I love hearing from the rest of you, but once you start responding to Rory's jabs, the thread degenerates into a grade-school playground fight, and it's no longer worth reading. Just when I thought it was safe to come back to reading Think Progress's comments, I find Jake's reincarnation busily at work again and too many of you letting him goad you into responding to him.

BEIJING — China will soon create one of the world’s largest investment funds, with ramifications for global stock, bond and commodities markets and for how the U.S. finances its trade deficits.

Finance Minister Jin Renqing said on Friday the aim is to make more profitable use of its $1 trillion in foreign currency reserves that have piled up as it posted huge trade surpluses year after year. Most of those funds are now parked in safe, but relatively low-yielding U.S. Treasury securities and other dollar-denominated assets.

“We can achieve more profit from the investments,” Jin said at a news conference. “We are now preparing the organization of this new corporation.”

Bernake's reaction to the economic downturn in America was to LOWER the interest rates. Now it is China's move.

#210, Perry,

You can list all kind of statistics you want , the thrust of my argument was that they (Democrats) did nothing tangible regarding this war in Iraq...nothing to end or slow this war in iraq.

In fact we have more troops in Iraq now than when Democrats took over the House and Senate ,
and we have spent tens of billions of dollars more.
I also read some statstics ..which says that voters are angry with Democrats, and their approval ratings is down due to what I said,
'am I making this up !!!..
Go and read, and educate yourself before you post and get ANGRY.
I am not like you who is a one party man..I have the freedom to vote whom I think is the best.
To call me a MEAN MOUTH for stating the obvious !! I was not talking about Democrats unity data or anything like that you posted...I was making the correlation between the situation in Iraq, and the promise Democrats made.
If you don't understand that...get you a cup of cool aid.

Say--that's some kinda MEAN MOUTH you've got there, Tarazan!

In fact, the Democrats in Congress have done a bang-up job. With only a marginal majority, and a resolutely obstructionist Republican minority, they still fought the administration's agenda to an historic degree:

"President Bush's success rating in the Democratic-controlled House has fallen this year to a half-century low, and he prevailed on only 14 percent of the 76 roll call votes on which he took a clear position.

"So far this year, Democrats have backed the majority position of their caucus 91 percent of the time on average on such votes. That marks the highest Democratic unity score in 51 years."

Democrats betrayed their voters...it is a simple as this, they calimed to stop the Iraqi war ,a promise that gave them the win of the House and Senate, but now they turned their backs on their voters and now instead calling for another war, after they won.

It is interesting that nothing has changed since last elections of 2006...
It was Senator Lieberman on October 11,2002(he was a Democrat then), who gave Bush and Cheney the authorization they needed to start a war with Iraq,by sponsering a Senate resolution to topple Saddam Hussein.

Now the same Lieberman (now Independent) who sponsered 2007 Senate resolution setting up Bush and Cheney for another war with Iran.
It made no difference whether Lieberman (D) or (I), Democrats followed him with the big support.
And when you hear Hillary, for example , shouting that she is the one that will stop the Iraqi war...don't believe her...look at her record. And that goes for many who betrayed their voters.

After 9 months in power, Democrats did nothing to stop, or slow this war in Iraq.
They spent billions and billions of dollars instead financing this war, and now they are getting us set up in another bigger conflict with Iran, which nobody who voted can predict,or know what are the consequences of his vote or what this war might bring.
But looking at the past rosy pictures drawn, predictions and promises given about previous conflicts, one must be extremely worried and concerned about what this coming conflict with Iran will bring.

The Sun maybe telling the truth. Congress gave emergency funding to Bush on Friday of 9 billion. Plus allowed Bush to confiscate 70 billion from allocated funds for bridge repairs. He would need this money badly if war on Iran is just hours or days away.

Former national security adviser Brzezinski said it well, U.S. is in danger of 'stampeding' to war with Iran. "I think the administration, the president and the vice president particularly, are trying to hype the atmosphere, and that is reminiscent of what preceded the war in Iraq,". All of this due to the influence and access AIPAC and the Neocons have to our foreign policy. It seems at this point that it is matter of time before we hit Iran, in your opinion how close our we to bombing Iran? <a>http://www.youpolls.com/details.asp?pid=581</a>

<a href="http://www.youpolls.com/details.asp?pid=581" rel="nofollow">http://www.youpolls.com/details.asp?pid=581</a>

favelas are, if you didn’t know, Brazilian slums on the hill. It’s not just a matter of “a couple of letters”. Be careful next time, you hear?

I know what favelas are and how nasty life can be in them. It was a play on words, not a put-down on the people who live in them. There's a troll named "Daryll" who comes here all the time, and he's always talking about going to Brazil to cure tha "homo-sexuals".

I've also lived w/ real poverty in my life. Haven't been a homeless street kid in Rio, but you can be painfully poor in this country too. Trust me. I've been there.

Republic, your comments are usually right on target and I enjoy reading them. Not this one; favelas are, if you didn't know, Brazilian slums on the hill. It's not just a matter of "a couple of letters". Be careful next time, you hear?
