Sally Field comments

Sally Field comments

on being censored during the Emmy awards: “I made the mistake of putting a God in front of the damned,” Field told ABC’s Diane Sawyer. “But basically, I feel if anything on Earth God would damn, it would be war. But I guess for whatever reason, they decided that God and damned together was not acceptable.”

I suspect that the reason Sally Field was censored by Fox is not because she put “God” in front of the “damned” or said “damned” at all. She was censored because she made a statement against war, period. Fox can’t have that — not while it’s pounding the drum for an Iran invasion.

    Missmolly,

You hit the nail on the head there! If they had aired her comment in it’s entirety, which by the way they did up here in Canada, the Rush Limbaugh’s and O’Reilly’s and Coulter’s would have thrown a fit!!
I can’t imagine them doing that for they are so professional and courteous!

    I concur.

  5. TheIrishEd says:

God cannot damn the war, but he sure can damn homosexuals! Yee-haw!

  6. cronenbergfan says:

I probably should have put that Sarcasm on for my previous post. my bad

  7. Clyde the Ripper says:

I would have preferred that she chastize the “GOD-DAMNED” politicians for without the bushco there would be no God-damned war.

  8. Rebel in CA says:

I love this woman and I hope she keeps on saying it

  9. NoOneYouKnow says:

    I agree w/ MissMolly.

  10. familyman says:

Sally Field is being much too generous.

  11. Spudge Boy says:

We are all ignoring the fact that other REAL expletives were used by other winners and Fox aired the remarks.

This is 100% censoring of Iraq war critics.

If Sally Fields would have said “We need to stay in Iraq and kill those God damned Iraqis!” the comment would have aired in its entirety, with the applaud signs lit up.

  12. cronenbergfan says:

    Spudge,

your comment would be sad if it was not 100% accurate.
The US has lost, what, approx. 3800 soldiers, men and women, and then there’s Limbaugh calling those who don’t agree “phony soldiers” or traitorous dissenters. What is going on?

  13. Spudge Boy says:

I keep trying to post the text of an FCC ruling showing that “God damn” is not considered obscene as was ruled by the FCC in 2004. But, apparently the paragraph stating what is not obscene is getting caught in the Think Progress obscenity filter. Ironic.

So, here is the link without the “obscenities”

  14. Leftside Annie says:

Huh. “FOX” is a four letter word.

  15. Great Frybread King says:

No, Sally, according to the Christo-fascists God favors “just” wars. Like the Crusades and, now, Bush’s cluster f*ck in Iraq.

  16. AnonymousByChoice says:

WHAT?!? God would NOT condemn war… God LOVES war, are you kidding me? Has she even OPENE a bible? Has she not seen the wars God had created?

Of course… none of this argument really matters, being that God most likely does not exist.

  17. FunMe says:

What is hollywood doing broadcasting on Fox fake station anyway?

Oh, and I LOVE Sally Fields. THANK YOU for speaking up!
