As for Valerie Plame, Novak wrote about her in his column AFTER Rove confirmed her position in the CIA (”Yeah, I heard that too”) and AFTER being advised by two CIA guys to NOT publish her name and position within the agency, to which Novak responded that they weren’t forceful enough in their request, which he took as permission to publish.

Like the morning a few years ago that “Fox and Friends” (damn, I wish they’d get a more mature-sounding name for their show) denounced actor Tim Robbins, an anti-war Democrat, by saying “what does he know about politics? He’s just an actor” and a few mornings later inviting a Republican entertainer on the show (Charley Daniels) and asking him, among the first questions, “so, what do you think about this war?”

You mean where he calls a decorated soldier (Murtha) a “Phony Soldier” and smears him? You’re a hypocrite, and a liar. No wonder you like Rush so much.

Fortunately, just as in the O’Reilly case, the words of Rush Limbaugh’s broadcast are recorded and available in their unedited form. Anyone who wants to hear them can easily do so and make their own honest judgement, rather than rely on the dishonest far-left to do their thinking for them.

I find it very telling that Bigfoot gives Fox News a pass when they do it to those they disagree with, yet the tactic is too over the top to be used on an obvious conservative like Petreaus.

It’s not the job of journalists, or the news media to be “fair” or “balanced.” It’s their job to report a story truthfully, and then allow us to make up our own minds.

Just as the MoveOn ad was for conservatives. You guys took a MoveOnquestion, and claimed it was an assertion of fact. Grow up. Fox News uses the same tactic to smear those it doesn’t like, yet you’ve never complained about that. Why? Is it because it’s OK when you’re smearing a democrat, but out of bounds when used against a republican? And lest we forget, your side outed the wife of Joe Wilson, a CIA agent, because to conservatives smearing Wilson wasn’t enough, his wife was also fair game.

All day yesterday none of the supporters of Rush or Patraeus bothered to discuss why the issues raised in the MoveOn ad were incorrect. I asked many times on at least 3 threads about the issues raised in the ad…no takers. Wait…I take that back. 2 people responded. One idiot who I directly asked said that the ad was wrong because it smeared the general, obviously not an answer to the issues. Another one quoted the general in his confirmation speech which as you know occurred BEFORE the surge began; what the general said at that time also does not address the issues in the ad.

The MoveOn ad accuses the general of untruths, of deceiving the public regarding the success of the surge; see the definitions above. It does not accuse the general of treasonous acts; the idiots on the Right are making those accusations. One issue the ad questions is why some types of deaths are counted and others are not, which is a legitimate concern. But just as with other issues regarding this administration and president, most people on the right don’t question things; they follow the Britney Spears model: just shut up and trust the President.

The original intent of the surge, as specifically laid out by President Bush and his administration, was to provide additional forces to help control the violence in order to give the Iraqi government some breathing room…specifically in Baghdad…to allow political reconciliation to occur. However, the government has done nothing to make things better, and actually took a summer vacation. Thus the surge has not worked. But like refusing to count certain deaths as a way to show success, the Bush administration recently decided to remove the condition that the gov’t show progress on reconciliation, again to show that the surge has “worked.”
