The 2008 election will be very interesting indeed. I do feel for the next president be it a Democrat or Republican, for they will inherit the biggest mess in American history.

With the erosion of civil rights in this country taking place and the american public keeping mostly silent, I am very curious to know, is what would you the American People do if and I state the word if Bush decided to cancel elections and declare himself president until the war on terror has been won. Now remember he said it will be a war that may take generations to fight. Would you rise up and declare him an enemy of the constitution and kick him out of office and arrest him, or would you sit passivly by, quivering in the corner saying "what can we do about it"?

OK, lets' send these real men out (with a bayonet clenched between their teeth) to wage war on the 30-% of the WORLD that is Islamic.
And until the squawkers agree to this, screw them.
They can die "keeping US safe".
And good riddance.

Mistakes made by Bigfoot:

1. Ahmadinejad is not the dictator of Iran. As many posters have pointed out, he was elected ( and as upside99 says, he'll probably lose the next election due to Iran's poor ecenomic condition) and the Mullahs are in charge and can veto anything they want.
2. Only a small number on the left are pacifists. Most like me, think defeating the Taliban and bringing Bin Laden to justice is the right thing to do. Too bad Bush failed at this by dropping the ball at Tora Bora.
3. The isolationist Right ignored Hitler's dangerous rise to power as well.
4. The American Government has supported plenty of cruel dictators who achieve their goals through violent means.
5. History didn't teach Bush how to avoid a civil war quagmire in Iraq.

Yeah, but then we wouldn't have an excuse to start another war, would we?

<em>Ahmadinejad will need to be dealt with, either by Bush in the next year, or by whomever is elected next. Even Hillary Clinton has to hedge her bets, in order to avoid looking like a complete hypocrite.

Comment by O. Bigfoot — September 30, 2007 @ 11:01 am</em>

He is up for re-election and will be very likely voted out of office within the next year, so why is this such a big issue? The majority of the Iranian population doesn't follow his beliefs and will dump him.

#174 Veritas, I agree with you..Hillary says that she is the champion of withdrawing our troops from Iraq she said: " If Bush did not get our troops from Iraq, I will"...
That's what she has been selling herself to people , but few days ago she gave Bush authorization to start another war with Iran.

She claimed that when she gave the President 'authorization to use force' in 2002 , she did not know then what the intelligence was, although everybody with a computer can find out in few minutes that Saddam had no WMDS .
she claimed:"If I had known then, what I know now, I would not have voted to give Bush the authorization to use force'.

Did she know few days ago when she authorized Bush again to start another war gainst Iran ?!!

Thanks Badger, for highlighting Scott Ritter's excellent points in his article, "Iraq Will Have to Wait." We have learned that when Ritter speaks, we must listen. And yes, Bart, Ritter is still speaking and writing, despite the abuse he took in 2003 for being correct on Iraq. Please spread the word about Ritter's article. Send this link to your newspapers and ask them to print it. Best luck to all of us as the Iran War Train rolls down the tracks...

So now what do we do?

First, read Scott Ritter’s excellent article, “Iraq Will Have to Wait.”

From Scott Ritter's article :

The administration always heeded the justifications for aborting an attack, primarily because there was time still left on the clock, so to speak. But time is running out. Israel has drawn a red line across the calendar, indicating that if Iran has not pulled back from its nuclear ambitions by the end of 2007, military action in early spring 2008 will be inevitable.
Put opposition to the war in Iraq on the back burner and make preventing a war with Iran the No. 1 priority, at least until the national election cycle kicks in during the summer of 2008. If a war with Iran hasn’t happened by then, it probably won’t.

Scott Ritter was right about WMDs and Iraq. I'm afraid he's right again. His article is at commondreams.org

AhmadiNejad does not have all the power in Iran,as he was described by these groups.

Who holds the power in Iran:

1.The 'Supreme Leader' Ali Khameneie, who is the head of the state and also the 'commander in chief' of Iranian forces.

2. The 'Guardian Council', 12 members, 6 appointed cleriks, and 6 appointed by the Majlis( Iranian Parliament). they have the power to approve or disapprove any bill or any elected member.

3. President of Iran..elected by Iranians.
AhmadiNejad has been in power little over 2 years,he was elected by popular vote.

4.The Majlis(Parliament) which legistlate, and agrees on national and international agreements, foreign policy and treaties.
The Majlis has the power to approve, dispprove any cabinet member, has the power of 'confidence call' against the prime minister should they wish to do so,as a parliamentary system.

So Ahmadinejad is not the Hitler they are trying to make him...The Parliament (Majlis) ,or the Spiritual leader and the Guidance Council can send him home anytime they wish...he cannot declare war,or start one.

He has been in power little over 2 years. He is not Saddam who held over all power in Iraq..Iran is a different story than Iraq under Saddam and the Ba'ath Party rule. Simply AhmadiNejad does not call the shots..

And hasn't Bush thrown the very words in our faces regarding what they are doing making it sound like it's polar opposite? The blogs are full of comparisons between Bush and Hitler. Just ask Prescott Bush and Herbert Walker if you want to see how far the apple falls from the tree. But to have this group make comparisons between Hitler and A'jad is laughable.....when the "real hitler" is running this country. What brass balls!

I'm with Bartlebee on this one, too - If anyone still supports these Dems who voted for the Lieberman/Kyl amendment, then they have no one to blame but themselves when this country is so overcome by these wars that it will soon look like something out of horror novels.

Hi Guys! Great stuff last night while I slept! My sentiments exactly regarding A'jad being Bush's twin - or at least his mirror image. And I didn't realize that Jewish-painbody Lieberman initiated both amendments. I also see how pathetic it is that Hillary led the brigade on selling us out with the dems vote. Interesting! What will she say now when she's put on the grill about it?? Will she say that Bush lied to her and tricked her? I don't think so. It's obvious that she's Bush Lite - the Female War Monger - now. A vote for Hillary is a vote for American Imperialism. And we know where that gets us, don't we.....one more move toward extinction.

These folks are raving lunatics. IF reality has any chance of surviving, the the real comparison should be the the new "w' book just out and Mein Kampf which Mr. Blakeman uses as reference. The deduction should be that HE and his rank of maniacs should be the ones being stopped - NOW!.

If there was ever a case for keeping Gitmo open, Blakeman and his "followers" are it, for our sake and their new home!

"If Hitler’s warnings were heeded when he wrote ‘Mein Kampf,’ he could have been stopped”"

So true, but it's not just Hitler. What about Cheney? Plus with Hitler we didn't have Fox News to deal with. Of course all the Neville Chamberlains in Congress plus all the "good Germans" among the public who believe his lies don't help. I'm not sure Hitler can be stopped.

<i>The New York Times reports that next month, the White House-front group Freedom’s Watch “will sponsor a private forum of 20 experts on radical Islam that is expected to make the case that Iran poses a direct threat to the security of the United States”</i>

They're attempting to break the world's record for the largest circle-jerk in recorded history.

I feel sorry for the janitorial staff. They'll never get all those cheetos stains out of the rug...

Democracy means true representation. If politicians in Washington do not have the heart and mind of people who elected them, and they vote only to please small groups of financial backers then the voters should send them home.
Because if politicians ignore the people who sent them there to Washington to begin with, then people should not feel sorry for them when they lose their political seats.
It is hard to believe that US Congress is setting up Bush and Cheney for another war in Iran, while the majority of people in this country want to end the ongoing war in Iraqi(over 70% of population).
The Lieberman bill in the Senate and another similar one in the Congress that were passed with sizable majority in the Senate nd the Congress despite of majority of people disapproval show that the represetatives of people in Washington are not truly represeting the people.

<em>"“If Hitler’s warnings were heeded when he wrote ‘Mein Kampf,’ he could have been stopped,” said Bradley Blakeman, 49, the president of Freedom’s Watch "</em>
Unbelievable. Did Blakeman ever read about PNAC?
