    idiocy knows no limits, evidently…

moving from the ridiculous to the orwellian, let’s talk about the office of detention and removal of the immigration and customs enforcement arm of the homeland security department and their 2003 strategy, chillingly titled endgame [pdf], to make sure all unwelcome, annoying and disagreeable people will never disrupt the administration’s bubble…

And, yes, I DO take it personally

  2. Your Conscience Says:

Hitler gives the attack on freedom of speech two thorns up.

  3. kasinca Says:

These fascist pig rethuglicans are batshit crazy and too ignorant to realize they are standing for the principles this country was founded on …they are the bad guys.

  4. Mugsy Says:

That’s the thanks Bollinger gets for savaging Make-Mad Ahmanutjob in his opening comments to appease these fascists.

  5. Wayne A. Schneider Says:

Duncan Hunter for President - Because a Mind is a Terrible Thing to Have.

  6. drobert_bfm Says:

Sounds like another set of laws passed some time ago: The Nuremberg Laws, which made “patriotism” mandatory in Universities with such actions as the firing of all Jews and the purging of curricula of all “corrupt” and “Jewish” science….

Methinks Sen Hunter loves the smell of Gas in the morning…

‘Restore Patriotism to University Campuses Act’

    OMFG!!!

The laughing stock of the world.

  9. upside99 Says:

Hey people of San Diego! Wake up and see what kind of Fascist Joe McCarthy clone scumbag you have representing you! PULEEZE get a little smarter in ‘08, will ya?

  10. donnas Says:

At what point did the Constitution give Congress the ability to regulate patriotism and how it’s exhibited?

  11. Guido OBGYN Lover Says:

    wow

where do they find these freaks

    So many control issues

Republicans cleary can’t acquire the things they want in a free society

  12. Guido OBGYN Lover Says:

I’m still looking for “Patriot Act Toilet Paper” so I can wipe my ass with it.

  13. rider Says:

Yeah, that’s the ticket. That’ll restore patriotism to our campuses! Make our universities just like theirs. You only get to speak if you agree with the government. Yeah, that’ll show ‘em.

  14. upside99 Says:

When will we see some of our Repug friends come to this thread? I want to know how Dunkin’ Donutz can still be a prez candidate? Is it his stance on the (Non)Freedom of Speech or maybe that $100 million non-flying airplane he supported?

C’mon, we want to hear your side, OK?

  15. tombaker Says:

can Hunter sponsor legislation from prison? - i know he’ll be joining the dukester there, soon.

  16. Jackie Says:

The Dean and his political friends set up the Iran President and it back fired. Nothing will change that.
The World watched how the US College invited a guest and before introducing him called him every name in the book and even lies. The Dean being Jewish had a reason to do what he did. He hoped the World would have sided with Israel yet with the help of God it didn’t. People always call God for help well He did step in and made the choice of who He thought was right. I know the Christians and Jewish people aren’t happy with who God chose but He goes to the honest people not not the liars.

  17. Sean Says:

Hooooly crap. You must be kidding.

  18. celtic cynic Says:

Would some kind person gently tell Duncan Hunter to go back to sleep?
    Thanks.

  19. Doc Rock Says:

    Guy’s from the Facist fringe!

  20. Marie Says:

Orwell would have named an act in such a way as Hunter.
Do guys like Hunter ever think? Or do they just react?
They sure as hell don’t know what they are doing.

  21. Nevar Says:

I think Hunter may be on the edge of indictment, courtesy of the Doolittle/ Abramhoff scandal, and he is grasping at any issue to try and bolster his “patriotic American no matter what I do” status.
Tom DeLay did the same thing with the Terry Schiavo fiasco.
Speaking of DeLay, what’s the delay with his trial.

  22. OxyCon Says:

The Democrats should offer another bill with the exact same wording as Hunters, except they should call it the “Duncan Hunter’s attempt to make America just like Iran by threatening freedom of speech at college campuses” bill.

  23. brad Says:

Don’t know who’s the bigger fool. Ahmadinejad, for coming here and allowing himself to be ridiculed for his inane statement that Iran has no gays, or Hunter, for failing to see the value of subjecting a bombastic jerk like Ahmadinejad to ridicule.

  24. Bryan Says:

Looks like I picked the wrong decade to stop sniffing glue.

Has the Right looped back on itself and become sheer, brilliant satire? I’m really having trouble accepting that these people are even saying this stuff with a straight face. It’s like Orwell and Zappa are collaborating on a piece that even Hunter S. would find a bit over the top.

What’s next, Santorum returns to the limelight and declares himself The Central Scrutinizer?

  25. Xisithrus Says:

Idiot legislation. Is this guy gonna create a Restore Patriotism to the UN and cut off funds for letting him speak there as well?

Why lets cut off funds for the whole state of New York…

  26. pbg Says:

If Adolph Hitler had accepted an invitation to speak at Columbia University in 1937, what would have been the smart thing to do?
Bzzt! Correct, give him every opportunity to speak and meet with leaders and academics, giving the most incisive of us an opportunity to see this enigmatic and dangerous leader up close.
The same thing if Lenin had come to Harvard in 1923.

It’s invaluable intelligence, cutting through disinformation. Remember the nonsense about Yuri Andropov when he came to power, that he liked American jazz?
Watch Mr. A. See how he reacts to American students. (We would probably never have gotten the “No gays in Iran” comment from him otherwise.
It was a fine idea to have Khrushchev and Castro come here. Getting their measure better than even a summit meeting.

But not, of course, when you’re hell-bent on making him a boogeyman. Then having him expose himself as a clown or as a dimbulb would never do. (Which he seems to be.) No, he has to be an insidious mastermind with the genius of a Moriarty and the ruthlessness of a Fu Manchu, and not as an unshaven Henry Winkler in a golf blazer. That would never do at all.

  27. katy Says:

again - is this something that the dems HAVE to allow
to be brought to the floor, at all???

can’t leader/speaker pelosi just tall him to back off?
    ?

  28. Ditch Mitch KY Says:

How about “Restore Patriotism to Sunday Night Network News Shows,” because of Ahmadinejad’s interview on 60 Minutes?

Come on, Duncan — you’re falling behind.

  29. S.D. Says:

Yesssss, cause if you don’t THINK like the Fatherland, erm, The State, no, the GOP says, you obviously aren’t a Patriot….

Do you suppose he has any idea how much like the Soviet Communists he is?

    Duncan? Not… a… CHANCE…

  31. DigDug Says:

    What an IDIOT!

If anything, Ahmadinadumnf*ck’s speach at Columbia helped the right-wing-pro-war lobby more than anything else could have. It helped them because everyone in america got to see first hand how out of touch he was with reality. THIS HELPED THEM!

And now one of their own is attacking another one of there own for helping them?!?! And TRAMPLING ON THE BILL OF RIGHTS in the process! The stupidity of it is mind-boggling.

WHAT KIND OF IDIOTS ARE RUNNING OUR COUNTRY!?!?!

  32. Buckie Boy Says:

How about a Restore Patriotism to the White House Act?

    Buck Fush

    Comment by DigDug — September 30, 2007 @ 11:21 pm

    Clearly, the “Duncan Hunter” kind…

  34. Keith Says:

As Sam Johnson said, patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.

Since Hunter is from San Diego and used to be the chairman of the Armed Services Committee, I’d say he must be involved in the Randy Cunningham-Dusty Foggo-Brent Wilkes-Hookergate-Give the troops bad equipment while we rake in the $millions-Scandal.

  35. JosephW Says:

Yesssss, cause if you don’t THINK like the Fatherland, erm, The State, no, the GOP says, you obviously aren’t a Patriot….

Do you suppose he has any idea how much like the Soviet Communists he is?

    Comment by S.D. — September 30, 2007 @ 11:04 pm

Well, considering the current neoconservative movement was created by disaffected Communists, the similarities between the modern American right-wing and old Soviet Communism aren’t hard to find.

  36. Lora Says:

Thank you so much, Dumbcan Shunter, for trying to improve my wretched alma mater.

  37. Art Says:

This will be followed closely by the “Restore Free Speech to University Campuses Act”.

  38. This Machine Kills Fascists Says:

Jeez, what a tool. The Dems best not even allow this crap to hit the floor.

Good job Rep. Hunter! Stay classy, San Diego!

  39. upright left Says:

Yeah, that’s the ticket. That’ll restore patriotism to our campuses! You only get to speak if you aren’t currently killing our people. Yeah, that’ll show ‘em.

    Comment by rider — September 30, 2007 @ 5:57 pm

That must be what rider really meant. ;)

  40. Pete Bogs Says:

punish the students… great idea! this is exactly what will happen if Congress cuts off funds… has Hunter even acknowledged that?
