U.S. coordinates with Gulf nations on possible air strikes.

“The American air force is working with military leaders from the Gulf to train and prepare Arab air forces for a possible war with Iran, The Sunday Telegraph can reveal.”

UPDATE: “John Bolton, the former US ambassador to the United Nations, told Tory delegates today that efforts by the UK and the EU to negotiate with Iran had failed and that he saw no alternative to a pre-emptive strike on suspected nuclear facilities in the country.”

  2. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    John Bolton is a liar.

Mr Bolton told an inquiring delegate that he was not and had never been a neoconservative: “I’m not even a Reagan conservative. I’m a [Barry] Goldwater conservative. They [neocons] have somewhat – I would say excessively – Wilsonian views about the benefits of democracy.”

If he wasn’t a neo-con, nor even a “Reagan conservative”, then why did he sign the PNAC letter to Clinton (see here), and how did he get to be appointed Ambassador to the UN? Does he know what the terms he is using mean? This is the same man who once told an interviewer that the president has an obligation to fulfill the agenda of the people who voted for him, and had no obligation to the rest of ther country. Why does anyone think his advice has value, when it doesn’t even have validity?

    Snippets…

Think another war can’t happen? Think again. Unchastened by the Iraq fiasco, hawks in Vice President Cheney’s office have been pushing the use of force.

But if it’s clear how a war with Iran would start, it’s far less clear how it would end. How might Iran strike back? Would it unleash Hezbollah cells across Europe and the Middle East, or perhaps even inside the United States?

Iran is not the only country where the next war with the United States might erupt. Consider the emergence of a new superpower (or at least a close competitor with the United States). China’s shoot-down of an old Chinese satellite in January was a wake-up call about the risks inherent in America’s reliance on space. The next war could also come from somewhere unexpected; if you’d told most Americans in August 2001 that the United States would be invading Afghanistan within weeks, they’d have called you crazy.

But the big lesson is simply this: War is the last, last, last resort. It always brings tragedy and rarely brings glory. Take it from a general who won: The best war is the one that doesn’t have to be fought, and the best military is the one capable and versatile enough to deter the next war in the first place.

And we can thank those spineless democrats whom we placed in office in the mid-terms for selling us out on this one. Soon we will be so embroiled in multiple wars, that this country will be down the tubes.

What the hell were we thinking to imagine that these democrats would care about what the people think? It goes without saying the Repukes are living on a different planet but the dems now, too?

What the hell was Hillary doing leading the charge in favor of the Lieberman/Kyl admendment?? There’s no way in hell this country can “afford” to have her at the helm that’s now certain.

  10. Veritas says:

and with what military do we plan to involve ourselves in yet another war? I guess we’re as deluded about the strength of our military as Bush is about balancing a budget in 6 years. We’ve got one deluded commander in chief with his trigger on the destruction of this country right now. He’s mentally ill and the people know it. Why are there not enough knowledgeable congressmen to see this precipice upon which we are perched? How can the NOT see that Bush has gone mad??

  11. Chris L says:

I do not see what proponents of the Iran war hope to achieve. If we have “limited, surgical strikes” against Iran, they are not going to just give up on nuclear research and decide they love Israel. This will not be a “limited” engagement, just like Iraq did not last for “weeks not months”. Does anyone here remember what the “trigger” was that initiated the invasion of Iraq in March 2003? It was not Al-Qaeda. It was not 9/11, that was in 2001. What precipitated the invasion of Iraq in 2003? Bush ordered the UN weapons inspectors out, so that coalition forces could go in and search for WMD. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Once the “limited, surgical strikes” are finished, how long is America willing to continue to put forces into Iraq? How many tours are our soldiers going to serve? How many American lives will be lost? For what?

  12. Veritas says:

It may be time for our own military to stand down any order to strike Iran. It’s time to take this power out of the hand of this juvenile delinquent. It’s time for the people to now show what they are made of…..do or die time, folks.

The only conclusion we can ascertain from these obvious threats of a madman is that he’s hell bent on destroying this country….and perhaps the world as we know it. The true “Anti-Christ” has been identified at last and he’s been our own “enemy within” all the time.

  15. Veritas says:

Just as before, history will repeat itself – in the course of 4 days we’ve gone from the Lieberman(sack of shit)/Kyle amendment to now entertaining “surgical strikes”…..which is precisely the identical MO Bush had for Iraq. Of course, the surgical strikes escalated within a matter of days/weeks….and voila! A full fledged invasion.

Iran is another story all together though. They are ready for Bush and his notorious crimes. They will put is in our place in one fell swoop I fear. We’re playing with fire here and this time we will get burned. This is not child’s play but Bubble Boy doesn’t have a clue as to what he is setting into motion. I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes karmically speaking.

  16. The Republic of Stupidity says:

    Comment by Abby — September 30, 2007 @ 6:15 pm

My objection is to specifically calling for someone’s death, or in this case, a nuclear attack on the US. I certainly have no use for Bush or what he’s done. I just don’t think a comment like that helps anything.

“Hopefully, they will wipe the US off the face of the Earth”???

This doesn’t sound like sarcasm. A distinct possibility, yes, but why HOPE for it?

BTW, an attack big enough to destroy the US would pretty much destroy the rest of world too…

  17. Veritas says:

What is occurring right now is a direct consequence of the horrendous derelection of duty by the democrats who bent over to be screwed once again by the Bush Cabal. I guess it’s something like the battered woman syndrome – they get beat up every time but still can’t seem to quit the man.

I believe that we need to have the official roll call on that disgusting vote and derelection of the mandate of the people during the midterms to stop this war and certainly NOT begin another one.

Once we have the names and contact information for each and every one of those spineless democrats, it’s time to bombard their phones, emails and offices with mail letting them know what they’ve done.

I do not believe this would engender them towards Israel either, Ahmanidiot would still call for their destruction. It would not cause them to stop aiding the Shia in Iraq, either. The Badr Militia would take their focus off destroying Muqtada Sadr and the Mehdi Army, and more towards attacking American troops. In other words, air strikes would do the exact opposite of what America wants, and they would be the beginning, not the end.

I understood the reference. I find you disgusting. You think you’re some sort of card while talking about people dying. You’re pathetic.

  72. The Republic of Stupidity says:

but you would probably just whine about the excessive hedonism on display and be in a perpetual bad mood.

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — September 30, 2007 @ 11:18 pm

Umm… no, I did understand. I’m probably better read than you. As far as your shallow attempt at smug humor, it falls about as flat as most of your other comments here tonight. You are an horrifically empty fraud.

You seem to think you’re bieng catchy when you talk about so many people dying. You’re absolutely DISGUSTING.

  73. TripMaster Monkey says:

    Michael sez:

    Take their nukes out now!

Which nukes would those be, Michael?

  74. The Republic of Stupidity says:

you wont have to worry about any scantily-clad women celebrating the miracle of capitalism around you.

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — September 30, 2007 @ 11:39 pm

    Yer a phony.

  75. TripMaster Monkey says:

    BARTLEBEE sez:

Someone explain to this moron that no ones claiming they “have” nukes.

Don’t be too hard on him, bart…this is what happens when you’re stupid enough to swallow the administration’s pablum unquestioningly.

  76. The Republic of Stupidity says:

THEN we’d have that war the right wing keeps claiming we’re in.

    It could be really bad.

    Comment by BARTLEBEE — September 30, 2007 @ 11:45 pm

Yo! Stalingrad anyone? 6th Army? Could happen…

  77. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Dont bother with a retort, Im sure youre still mad at me.

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — September 30, 2007 @ 11:50 pm

Don’t bother w/ a retort. You’re such a mindless, sick fraud, you couldn’t possibly have anything of value to say.

  78. The Republic of Stupidity says:

This peice of shit is a remnant of what our dads fought half a century ago in a REAL war.

    Comment by BARTLEBEE — September 30, 2007 @ 11:55 pm

    Right. Just… DISGUSTING attitude.

  79. The Republic of Stupidity says:

But hey, what can you expect from a historical neophyte who believes in the Chamberlain doctrine of appeasement?

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — October 1, 2007 @ 12:04 am

Indeed, and what can we expect from a committed idiot who believes in the Hitlerian doctrine of the Big Lie?

  80. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Figures its from Vegas. Home of the rip off , corruption and greed.

    Comment by BARTLEBEE — October 1, 2007 @ 12:05 am

It just goes to Vegas to be relieved of its money by the locals.

  81. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Dont bother eating beforehand because your innards may suffer a beating.

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — October 1, 2007 @ 12:06 am

Perhaps you’d care to meet our local Iraq War vet, Wayne, and talk to him like that?

    God, yer a rancid wanker.

  82. The Republic of Stupidity says:

But like I said. What can you expect from a snibbling, murdering scumbag who embraces the HITLER DOCTRINE of pre-emptive war?

    Comment by BARTLEBEE — October 1, 2007 @ 12:08 am

I’d suggest this disgusting fraud go read what Wayne had to say about above, but odds are this one is way too self-absorbed and fascinated w/ his own smugness to get it. Pathetic excuse for a human.

“But… but… the chicks in Vegas think I’m cool! At least they said they did… until I was broke…”

  83. Buckie Boy says:

The Anti-Christ has till Jan 09 to do his worst, looks like he is right on schedule.

    Buck Fush

  84. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Fabulous is the best descriptor, highly recommended.

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — October 1, 2007 @ 12:12 am

Indeed, spoken by someone who NEVER understands how people are laughing at him. Pahetic. Keep it up, Chuckles… yer really quite the Komedy Krackup!

  85. The Republic of Stupidity says:

    Las Vegas!!! It’s For Fools!

  86. The Republic of Stupidity says:

And being a soldier doesn’t mean turning a blind eye to oppression.

    Comment by BARTLEBEE — October 1, 2007 @ 12:13 am

Incapable of getting it, Bartles. Are these freaks really paid posters?

This guy has all the credibility of a cardboard cutout… can’t… CAN’T… be a real person. NO ONE could be this big of a jackass in real life. So what’s the point? The GOOPers admit they’re getting their butts kicked on the nets. Are they really out to scramble things up anyway they can?

‘Cause this CAN’T be a real person. NO ONE could POSSIBLY be this obnoxious in real life. It’s GOTTA be an act.

  87. The Republic of Stupidity says:

    :|

    Those weren’t chicks.

    Comment by BARTLEBEE — October 1, 2007 @ 12:18 am

    Ewwwww… (Psst… don’t tell him… it might be, ahem, embarrassing…)

  88. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Definitely not a CP’er and you wouldnt be caught dead in the Trop or at any place in Old Town.

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — October 1, 2007 @ 12:21 am

I’ve always found Vegas and the fools who go there to be relieved of their money to be ridiculous… Gosh, yer quite the Schwinger…

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA… yer killin’ us… no, really, ya are.

  89. The Republic of Stupidity says:

are really just whoever’s manning the console at Messiah U at any given moment.

    Comment by BARTLEBEE — October 1, 2007 @ 12:22 am

I’m pretty sure I’ve caught trolls working off of scripts here. There was a very peculiar comment a troll made months ago, about the Dems playing us for suckers.

“The Dems are playing w/ you the way we play w/ our religious nuts.”

I’m pretty sure that was the EXACT wording.

About 2 months later, Jake D said the exact same thing. EXACT.

What are the odds of 2 different trolls making the exact same statement, months apart, on such a specific subject matter?

    Kinda creepy/smarmy, huh?

  90. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Guess the soldiers are crying for his loss, while he’s in here cheering on theirs.

    Comment by BARTLEBEE — October 1, 2007 @ 12:25 am

Kind of disgusting, actually. The attitude, that is.

  91. The Republic of Stupidity says:

More than likely that involves finger sandwiches and subdued background music.

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — October 1, 2007 @ 12:28 am

Prattling on and on to itself. Sad… and delusional, too.

  92. The Republic of Stupidity says:

I notice it’s quit trying to engage us directly at all.

This CAIN’T be a real person. Very bizarre… very, very creepy.

    Did I mention obnoxious???

  93. The Republic of Stupidity says:

See? No attempt to engage around the subject matter. Just going on and on as though he were actually talking to someone about gambling.

    Truly bizarre phenomenon.

  94. TripMaster Monkey says:

    Rovian Stormtrooper Commander sez:

You should see the wife play blackjack, she will take a card on just about anything. One on hand she took a hit on nineteen because the dealer was showing a nine, hoping for a club bullet that never came.

I was just going to continue to refuse to engage the parody troll, but this passage explores whole new vistas of stupid.

Are you actually bragging about your wife’s inability to play blackjack?

  95. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Dont tell me, Bart drags himself from bed every morning and proceeds to spend every waking moment in deep thought about our troops in Iraq, barely bothering to eat or drink.

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — October 1, 2007 @ 12:37 am

Clearly, you think the whole thing is a joke. How much do you get paid to make a pain in the ass of yerself here? Or are you such a die hard ideologue ya do it fer free? Givin’ it away? Tsk…

Jes’ like the girls in Vegas who luv ya… no, really, they do…

  96. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Bart in which Im indirectly referenced as “it” precluded any meaningful attempt at discussion.

As Madonna would say, “my bad”.

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — October 1, 2007 @ 12:40 am

Considering the kind of comments you’ve been making, it does preclude any attempt at meaningful discussion. No real human could be this obnoxious and not know it. How much ya gettin’ paid?

  97. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Not only him but the Commander in Chief as well.

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — October 1, 2007 @ 12:42 am

Do ya get medical benes? No? Geez, guess who’s gittin’ screwed, and not in Vegas!!! ;-D!!

  98. TripMaster Monkey says:

    Rovian Stormtrooper Commander sez:

The party didnt end just because we stumbled into the hotel room at 0300, if you know what I mean.

    Well, maybe you dont know.

Well, at least I know how to use apostrophes.

    G’Night.

  99. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Aw, geez, Bart… he was jes’ about ta spill tha beans ‘n tell me how much trolls git paid fer bein’ obnoxious pricks… ‘n ya scaired him offin…

  100. The Republic of Stupidity says:

It is MY war after all, so please keep your nose out of it.

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — October 1, 2007 @ 12:59 am

Aw COM’ON.. ya cain tell us.. how much????

  101. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Its too late for me….save yourself.

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — October 1, 2007 @ 1:11 am

Wow… yer really cool… no, really, you are.

What do you think is going on here, Bart? Clearly, whoever this is, they have no real political opinion to express. They’re out to be deliberately obnoxious as possible. Kind of a shameless performance.

Just… amazing… so, my guess is he accepts payment in the form of food stamps and all the T-bird he can drink in one setting… jes’ like the GOOPers… they even lowball their trolling.

At least this one isn’t in India…

  102. The Republic of Stupidity says:

limited to those who dont share your political views?

    Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — October 1, 2007 @ 1:14 am

Naw… just directed at obnoxious cretins like you. Bart and I had quite a serious talk about politics last night here. I’ve had long discussions w/ people who actually have REAL political opinions here, and we did disagree.

You? Awww… hang it up, moron. Yer not foolin’ anyone.

  103. JPV says:

If Bush attacks Iran without Congressional approval he should be impeached. He won’t seek it because he knows this House won’t give it as there is no justification for invading Iran like Iraq.

    Comment by Probus

    FFS, pay attention please.

By declaring the Iranian army a terrorist group, via the Lieberman/Kyle bill, Bush doesn’t need Congressional approval anymore.

The Democrats already gave him approval.

    Idiot.

  104. Chocolate Jesus says:

    >What are the odds of 2 different trolls making the
    > exact same statement, months apart,
    >on such a specific subject matter?

Originality or creative thinking is not these guys strong point, in any event. One of them may have thought the other said something profound and cut and pasted it into a wordfile of allegedly memorable quotes.

    > No place on earth like Sin City.

If your into cliches, sure. Did your imaginary wife like the fact you spent her imaginary money?

Is this some new trolling method? Boring us to death with semi-coherent PG-13 “fear and loathing in las vegas” slash fiction?

Accusations that democrats don’t know how to have fun? Last I checked, Larry Flynt was on our side, Falwell is on yours. Next thing you know you’re going to accuse us of hating gays and minorities.

Seriously, I’m just wondering what your goal in regaling us with these inane loss vegas stories is. Are you trying to irritate us by boring us to death? Or do you just need attention? You do know you’ll never be able to get the time you spent writing this stuff back, right?

In any case, enjoy posting your drivel, at some point you’ll get banned, and at some point TP will wise up and start banning IP’s, then i guess you’ll have to find somewhere else to seek attention.

  105. Chocolate Jesus says:

    >Without it he will commit an impeachable offense.

Not trying to be an @ss, but hes been there, done that. Dude.. congress doesnt even have the b@lls to say no to AIPAC lobbying. And where oh where did these contempt citations for harriet myers ever go? I bet these same “blue dog” scumbag democrats in the house who voted for continued illegal surveillance won’t dare vote for a contempt citation against thier dear leader and eternal commander in cheif

  106. 1984 says:

PNAC Bolton wanted Iran to kick out Arms Inspectors, he tells AIPAC (audio track as well as text)
“… they have not done anything more dramatic, such as withdrawing from the nonproliferation treaty, or throwing out inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which I actually hoped they would do – that that kind of reaction would produce a counter-reaction that actually would be more beneficial to us.”
