Rep. Kingston Introduces Resolution ‘Commending’ Rush Limbaugh»

jkingston4.gif Today, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) gave a speech on the Senate floor condemning Rush Limbaugh for calling troops who support American withdrawal from Iraq “phony soldiers.” He urged his colleagues — both Democratic and Republican — to sign a letter of disapproval to the CEO of Clear Channel.

Instead, Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA) — who voted to criticize MoveOn.org — has decided to commend Limbaugh. Today at 3:16 PM, Kingston introduced a resolution “[c]ommending Rush Hudson Limbaugh III for his ongoing public support of American troops serving both here and abroad.”

From the resolution:

Whereas Mr. Limbaugh’s commitment to American troops serving both here and abroad remains as strong as ever: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the House of Representatives–

(1) recognizes Rush Hudson Limbaugh III for his support of the Marine Corp Law Enforcement Foundation and for providing free subscriptions for active-duty servicemembers;

(2) recognizes Mr Limbaugh’s desire to see American troops achieve a successful outcome in Iraq, Afghanistan and wherever soldiers are stationed; and

(3) commends Mr. Limbaugh’s tireless public support for American troops and their families through radio broadcasts, fundraising and other public support.

Kingston appeared as a guest on Limbaugh’s show as recently as July 3.

Reid also called on Limbaugh to apologize to U.S. troops. On his radio show today, Limbaugh did apologize — not for his own actions but for those of Media Matters and Reid for allegedly disrespecting the soldiers:

I want to apologize to all of the members of the United States Military, both in uniform and out, active duty and retired, for Media Matters for America. They will not apologize to you, and they will not apologize to me. I want to apologize to you on behalf of them. […]

But since you will never get an apology from Jack Murtha for mischaracterizing you as murderers, since you’ll never get an apology from John Kerry, since you won’t get an apology from Media Matters for America or anybody that works there, to all of you in the US Military, I want to apologize to you for them for the, again, firestorm over something that did not happen regarding your valor and your commitment to freedom and democracy last week on this program.

Limbaugh also challenged Reid to “come on this program” and “tell me to my face that I said what I did not say.”

UPDATE: Jane Hamsher calls on Armed Forces Radio to take Rush off the air.

UPDATE II: Army of Dude, a blog by a soldier serving in Iraq, responds to Rush with pictures of a few of his fellow troops, so-called “phony soldiers.”

UPDATE III: The Corner’s Kathryn Jean Lopez approves of Kingston’s resolution.

UPDATE IV: A new poll of “right-of-center” bloggers finds that Limbaugh is their “favorite” person on the right.

Digg It!

  6. Dr. Matt Says:

    purposefully misconstrued Rush’ stattement

ROFL!! Awwww, poor, poor, reich-winger…you resorted to the first and second tactics of the reich-wing apologist: attack the critic and claim your reich-winger was taken out of context. Jebus, you reich-wingers are too predictable.

  7. StratRat Says:

As should all the phonies on the left who have purposefully misconstrued Rush’ stattement to divert attention from the fact that they have not ended this war as they promised they would.

    Comment by Vendetta

So over 70% of your fellow Americans are ‘phonies’. What does that make the sycophants on the lower 30%? Hmmmm, I’m trying to find the right word.

  8. Bob Day Says:

playing Harry Reid and Democratic Congresspoeple like the puppets they are! Dems bringing fingernails files to a gun fight. These are sad times. Is there any Dems out there with a backbone?

  9. hellinabucket Says:

right vendetta. You do realize the slim majority that the democrats have now is being blocked by republicans. You do understand that don’t you?

Rush is an alarmist hack entertainer with egg on his face. His comments were wrong and not misconstrued. He infered “phony soldiers” as any soldier speaking out and the dittoheads lapped it up. Now he’s called on it and squirms and screams “foul”.

  10. Lefty Patriot Says:

Vendetta, are you always so eager to defend drug addicts and child abusers like Limbaugh? Do you tale pride in swallowing htis fat clown’s lies whole? You must have a real hatred for aemrican soldiers and their families to defend this fat, draft-dodging coward. thanks for contributing to the weakening of America.

  11. normalasf Says:

Jesus Christ, people…it’s called Free Speech. As I recollect, more than a few people have died for this right. I am disgusted that our elected representatives are wasting time and taxpayer dollars on this nonsense.

Way to go Harry and Nancy. Why the hell are these damned resolutions coming to a vote anyway?

  12. RUCerious Says:

So now we know the name of the pimple on Rush’s ass. It’s named Kingston.

  13. toasterhead Says:

Ok, this is seriously getting out of hand. The deck chairs are starting to leave scuff marks from all the rearranging. There are several thousand issues the Senate should be addressing that are more important than whatever Rush or MoveOn or Ann Coulter or anyone else said about the troops. In terms of importance, this ranks somewhere above gay marriage and somewhere below replacing the carpeting in the Senate chamber.

  14. maxamillion Says:

This is what happens when you vote for republicans. When they can’t steal, lie, your hooker, get sex from pages, they write resolutions like this.

  15. kasinca Says:

These are two dirty pieces of toilet paper. One a dumbass bootlicker from GA and the other a lard assed, drug addled, gas bag, who takes the little blue pills to troll fourteen year old hookers in the Dominican Republic. The GOP and the hate mongrels are all non-entities.

The GOP is made up of cowards, thieves, and liars.

  16. maxamillion Says:

Hey Harry, get Rush off the Armed Forces Radio Network NOW!!!!!

  17. Krazny Says:

Hopefully the dems will Kill this bill, so it never sees the light of day.

  18. bilbobaggins Says:

Ok, Harry Reid, it’s time for you to grow a set and tell this fool to take a hike. Then introduce a resolution condemning Limbaugh for what he said. For gods sake, stop letting the Republicans define the agenda.

  19. NoMoreBush Says:

And Congress wonders why the public despises them??? While Rome burns, all these people can do is introduce meaningless resolutions from MoveOn to Rush Limbaugh.

  20. Leftside Annie Says:

I just left the dear Congressman a very ni-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ice message.

Here’s his number if you’d like to call and thank him for doing the People’s business (snark):

    Phone: (202) 225-5831

There’s a very nice young man waiting to take your message. ;o)

  21. bilbobaggins Says:

As should all the phonies on the left who have purposefully misconstrued Rush’ stattement to divert attention from the fact that they have not ended this war as they promised they would.
    Comment by Vendetta

Ok Right Wing Loon Vendetta - you know very well that no one has misconstrued what he said. It’s all there on tape and in black and white in the transcript of what he said.

Besides, how about the Right Wing Loons who misconstrued what moveon.org said. They chose to take the words “betray us” and interpret them to mean that he was calling Betrayus a traitor. Is that what Rush meant when he called Chuck Hagel, a fellow Republican, Betrayus because he doesn’t support the occupation of Iraq? Was Rush calling Hagel a Traitor?

Continue to drink the kool-aid right wing loon. Hopefully you will overdose some day and then the world will be a better place.

  22. Marie Says:

I don’t understand — why did Rep.Kingston think MoveOn needed to be called out, but Limbaugh does not?
Is it another case of IOKIYAR?

Do we need an adult here to call a “time out” on the congressional playground?

I said on another thread that I regret our representatives in D.C. have sunk to these depths, but that’s where they are, and taking the high ground gets us nowhere. First you have to get their attention - then you can try to reason with them. And punching them back seems to be the only way to get their attention.

  23. bilbobaggins Says:

Hopefully the dems will Kill this bill, so it never sees the light of day.
    Comment by Krazny

That is undoubtedly why Kingston introduced the bill he did. He is thinking that if the Democrats kill his bill, they will then not be able to introduce a bill condemning Rush. As usual, the Democrats have allowed the Republicans to control the agenda and the message. I’m getting royally sick and tired of them doing that. While they were fiddling around with Rush, the Republicans did a sneak attack and they fell for it.

  24. Dr. Matt Says:

I want the dems to get us out of Iraq.

So does the Majority of America. It doesn’t change the fact that you are a reich-wing apologist loon.

  25. Candyce Says:

    Good, one chickenhawk defending another.

He forgot a few commendations in the resolution:

    [4] commends Rush Limbaugh for bringing to light the horrors of the sex trade in the Dominican Republic;

    [5] commends Rush for his dramatic demonstration of Parkinson’s as a phony disease;

    [6] commends Rush for his Adopt-a-Soldier program, an entrepreneurial way to sell subscriptions to his online website;

  26. hellinabucket Says:

Vendetta. I’m all for that. I want to see that show down in congress instead of waxing poetic about the bad rush/good rush and any other non issue.

    trigger happy today I guess.

  27. Erroll Says:

What seems to have been lost by those on the right is that the recklessness of MacArthur during the Korean conflict was certainly condemned when MacArthur was challenging the authority of Truman. Likewise, General William Westmoreland was not above being rebuked by many in the press, as well as the politicians of his time, for urging LBJ to send in as as many as 500,00 military personnel into that slaughterhouse in Vietnam. The advocates off war would do well to remember that those in the military are not some mythical god-like creatures who are infallible and thus [allegedly] immune to criticism. It is long past the point that those in the Armed Forces [or, as former Vietnam veteran and past president of Veterans for Peace, David Cline, would sometimes say, Armed Farces] should speak out, as Lt. Ehren Watada has done, against these illegal orders, and say NO to the war machine of the United States.

  28. Dr. Matt Says:

did mean to imply petraus had betrayed the country.

Wrong. Try again, sporto, and put down the kool-aide before your next post.

  29. bob h Says:

He must be rush’s puerto rican love child.

  30. maxamillion Says:

Hey “Vendetta” Petraus has betrayed us you idiot. The moment he took the job for a new star he betrayed us and is men and women fighting in the theatre. Don’t drink so much it make you stupid.

  31. Lefty Patriot Says:

You are too quick to stereotype and box folks up. I want the dems to get us out of Iraq.

    Comment by Vendetta — October 1, 2007 @ 5:26 pm

Then get on your repuke obstructionist child-molesting, page-turning moronic representatives and vote-stealing senators, idiot, instead of blaming the dems for the republicans’ treason.

and Rush is a child-molester, from way back. In his case, the conviction is just a matter of time. He has many perverted friends in high places, or he would be doing time right now for the drug bust, so suck on that, twit.

  32. katy Says:

    well well well… imagine that…

when are the f’n dems gonna learn to quit playing “nice guy”?

this is the best evidence that the repugs are just batshitcrazy…
and not the least bit interested in the best interests of this country…
    or the citizens…
    .

  33. bilbobaggins Says:

Because marie Rush followed up his comment immeadiately clerifying what he meant by his “phony” remark while move on did mean to imply petraus had betrayed the country.
    Comment by Vendetta

You are a liar. He did not “immediately” clarify his remarks. It was much later in the broadcast when he mentioned the other soldier. And i expect it was because he realized what he had said and was trying to make an excuse for what he said.

And moveon.org was entirely correct when they said that Betrayus betrayed his country and betrayed his soldiers. But that is NOT what the right implied. They implied that by calling Betrayus “Betray Us”, that moveon.org was calling Betrayus a traitor.

It’s funny, don’t you think, that the Right Wing Loons never addressed the content of the ad. And why do you think that is? Could it be because they couldn’t dispute anything that moveon.org said?

I also find it hard to believe that you want the Democrats to get us out of Iraq. All I have ever read posted by you is Right Wing Loon talking points. When did you turn over a new leaf?

  34. oldtree Says:

When will the KKK be ruled an illegal entity and as such force these people to rename their club?

  35. hellinabucket Says:

Vendetta, quit being a Rush apologist. He got himself in this mess by using the term “phony soldiers” and he didn’t accurately clarify/quantify the statement “immediately afterwards”. He planted a seed that the far right wanted to hear. There can be no independant thought. There is only the official view.

This whole episode is beneath congress but Rush doesn’t need your help to defend him. It should be beneath you as well.

  36. Lefty Patriot Says:

I also find it hard to believe that you want the Democrats to get us out of Iraq. All I have ever read posted by you is Right Wing Loon talking points. When did you turn over a new leaf?

    Comment by bilbobaggins — October 1, 2007 @ 5:37 pm

That’s the koolaid contingent, start blaming the dems now for the failure of Bushco, get the ball rolling, and maybe the next election won’t be a slaughter of the republicans. Fat chance; 70% of the Aemrican people have had enough of the Grand Old Perverts. They are done, we just need to bury them deep enough that they don’t stink up the whole world again.

  37. fletc3her Says:

The Republicans look at everything through a political lens. They care nothing for good governance. The Democrats lose when they play along with a political ploy like condemning MoveOn and they lose when they try to counter that ploy with their own ploy. The essential problem is that the referees in this political squabble are the mainstream news outlets. They will always side with the Republicans since it suits their owners, so the Democrats will always lose. Instead, the Democrats should concentrate on what they do well, which is governing the country.

  38. hellinabucket Says:

Maybe Vendetta would like to discuss the content of the Moveon ad?

  39. Uosdwis Says:

I think maybe he’s so stupid, he dyslexified “condemning” for “commending” except there’s an extra m.

    Un-$&@!%ing-believable.

  40. Kozakid Says:

John Podesta, a homosexual who never served in the military, is micharacterizing Limbaugh’s words. Where was Podesta when Reid called our troops incompetent. Where was Podesta when Dick Durbin compared our Marines to Nazis and the Khmer Rouge. Where was the pussy Podesta when John Kerry joked that our troops were unintelligent.

The hypocrisy from the pussy Podesta and his ilk is stunning.

  41. Kozakid Says:

Harry Reid’s nickname is “Pinky.” I kid you not. He claims it is because his face easily burned in the sun. Sure. That’s the reason.

ROFL oh man Rush would love this comment. Would go great with his self importance. I don’t even know what to say.

  52. hellinabucket Says:

Scat, I’m sure you remember the wringer that Kerry went thru for that don’t you. It was the final nail in his coffin. When that blew up in his face he knew any chances of another run at the presidency was dead.

So are you suggesting the same treatment for Rush? Sounds like a plan.

  53. Scat Says:

I’m saying that Dems are being just as purposefully obtuse over Limbaugh’s comments as Repubs were over Kerry’s.

  54. florida Says:

    well done

  55. Scat Says:

I agree that Kerry’s comments were directed at Bush. He simply worded it poorly and didn’t convey his message properly. Even after explaining himself, the right crucified him.

I see the same thing happening with Limbaugh… poor choice of words to convey his message. Explains himself. Makes no difference because the left see an opportunity.

As I said in my original post, people are being purposefully obtuse to advance their agenda.

  56. Leftside Annie Says:

Scat - as usual for a right-wing authoritarian follower, you are comparing apples to bricks.

How about we stay focused in the present?

With re to Moveon v. Rush - ain’t no comparison - except in your delusional little head, but that doesn’t matter to you, does it?

As long as you carry the water (or Kool-Aid) - as long as you defend your leaders, you’re willing to twist your soul into a pretzel to defend the indefensible, aren’t you?

  57. Scat Says:

Where have I defended anyone? I’m simply pointing out the hypocrisy being practiced by both sides.

  58. Scat Says:

Too add, I’m sure that Limbaugh was heading up the lynch mob when Kerry misspoke. He shouldn’t be surprised that he’s being treated the way he is.

Now that’s impressive. A post written entirely in gibberish. Don’t type so fast, though. You might accidentally slip something factual in there. You’re okay so far.

  62. barfly Says:

“I condem the entire Demorat party for being Pro terrorist anti American and Anti military!”

Don’t forget to condemn Ronny Reagan for selling weapons to terrorists, little one. And Bush could have had Saddam out of Iraq for a measly billion dollars, but strutting around an aircraft carrier was more important. All the troops who’ve died in Iraq are George’s responsibility.

  63. Kozakid Says:

Kerry’s comments were directed at Bush not the soldiers. Limbaugh’s comments were directed at soldiers who want to withdraw troops out of Iraq.

That’s BS. It would make since if it were directed at Bush. After all, you can’t do much better than becoming president of the U.S.

Any thinking person knows that Kerry was referring to the troops serving in Iraq.

  64. chimpeach Says:

I’ve yet to hear a single troll or right-wing pundit or Republican congressman mention anything about that MoveOn ad beyond the title.

Rush will pay for this, with a loss of listeners. it will be entertaining to watch his buddies at Fox, CBS, ABC, and CNN, who will be on the spot to repudiate his ill-thought remarks, and distance themselves from his cowardly spew.

  67. chimpeach Says:

Of the seven active duty soldiers serving in Iraq who wrote an op-ed about the failure of the surge, one had been shot in the head and two more have since been killed.

Is there anything that Rush Limbaugh is so dedicated to that he might find the balls to take a bullet for it? There’s no shame in being called a phony soldier by the world’s biggest coward. Good luck to Harry Reid if he tries to say something to Limbaugh’s blubbery face. He’d have to get past the bodyguards and inside the fortified mansion to get within shouting distance.

  68. creeksneakers2 Says:

Kingston lies just like Rush does. Rush never gave the troops any free copies of his worthless newsletter. Rush ran a scam where Rush fans could pay for subscriptions for troops, rather than the troops paying. Limbaugh made a bundle on the deal and didn’t give the troops a thing.

Any thinking person knows that Kerry was referring to the troops serving in Iraq.

Wish as hard as you can, but that still won’t make it true.

Fact: Bush weaseled out of going to Vietnam, skipped to the front of the line for Air National Guard, stayed stateside by request, and then didn’t even bother to show up for Guard meetings. Coward. Cuts veterans benefits, sends the same troops back into Iraq over and over again to fight a war that’s unwinnable, cuts costs on the troops but showers war profiteers with billions.

Fact: Kerry volunteered to go to Vietnam, chose a combat role in one of the most dangerous assignments there, and was an eye witness to what went on over there, unlike the wimps who lead the Republican party and shoot their mouths off on right-wing talk radio. Fights for veterans benefits, trying to make sure America keeps its promise to those who volunteer to defend it, still working to get the troops out of the civil war that Bush has them stuck in.

If you even had a clue, you’d be ashamed of your party.

Really? Who was trying to get Rumsfeld to start armoring up the humvees and giving proper body armor to the troops. It was the Democrats. Who was it that let Walter Reed turn to shit while our troops were recovering there? The Republicans. Who was it that tried to pass a bill that would give the troops as much time back in the states as they were serving in Iraq, letting them get to know their families again and letting newer troops get the training necessary before heading over to Iraq? The Democrats. Who shot it down? The Republicans.

  80. curmudgeon Says:

Since Rush wants to invite Harry Reid onto his show, where he is in control of the situation, and in friendly confines, why doesn’t he offer to meet with Reid in a completely neutral location (with only one microphone operational at a time), and while he is at it, invite John McCain and Mitt Romney as well, so he can lambaste them at the same time.

Just in case you are wondering about McCain and Romney, you can check it out at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ 2007/ 09/ 28/ romney-criticizes-limbaug_n_66363.html

    Nonsense.

  83. sammyharrison Says:

As usual none of the media “hit men” are willing to call Rush Limbaugh and ask him personally about the comment.

Because the media have an “agenda” the anti war bias which clouds all the stories that come out to fight conservatives they are unwilling to see things any other way. The same Moveon.org “General Betray us” ad idiots are after Rush and any Conservative.

This is another media hatchet job by the Liberals who are losing on the Iraq war front, they can’t do anything and will look for any reason to besmirch Conservatism.

  84. barfly Says:

The inconsistency of the arguments you wingnuts come up with is truly a big joke - on you!

I am an Iraq vet with a bronze star, and I oppose this war. My son is an Iraq Vet with a purple heart and he opposes the war. I have another son who is serving in Iraq and he opposes the war. Despite our opposition to the war and policy, wee have and continue to do our duty to the best of our ability, because at the end of the day “we are soldiers”. The day that “Rush Bigmouth” has the nerve to go on daily patrols and serve a tour as a member of the elite fraternity who have done their time in “hell”, he can challenge the the patriotism and the valor of those who have and continue to serve.

Since we all know he has never served a day in the military, he would be well advised to APOLOGIZE AND SHUT HIS MOUTH.

He was caught coming back from the Dominican Republic with Viagra on him.
The Dominican Republic is infamous as being a haven for westerners looking for underage prostitutes.

What was Rush doing in the Dominican Republic in the first place?
Why would he need to bring Viagra for the trip?

He wasnt convicted… But he wasnt convicted for “Doctor shopping” or illegal possesion of a controlled substance either. A small fine and rehab for something that would have gotten your average american a lengthy jail sentence. The best part is his repeated assertions over the years that all drug abusers belong in jail… all except him I guess.

Whatever you think about his views.. he’s not a good person and certainly doesnt deserve a commendation from anyone.
At best he’s a hypocrite and an idiot.

The mentally challenged trolls still cannot explain how the issues raised in the MoveOn ad relate to, as they call it, treasonous charges against Petraeus. They conveniently ignore the 5 other definitions of “betray” like good little administration ass kissers.

Did you all catch ABC’s Operation Stolen Valor? Aired 9/24. Interesting report on phony heroes and phony soldiers.

That’s what all the fuss was about.

    Re: Post #106 –

In addition to being a “soldier”, Petraeus is the handpicked shill for the Bush Administration, chosen because he could be counted on to recite verbatim from whatever script the necons placed in his hands.

Unlike the thousands of soldiers that Rush defecated upon, Petraeus quite likely has lofty political ambitions, and at the very least, should he ever leave the military service, Bush and Cheney’s friends will most assuredly provide him with extremely lucrative positions on the boards of defense contractors, as a consultant, and/or as a lobbyist.

By selling out, Petraeus has guaranteed himself the lifestyle of the so-called “rich and famous” from this point forward.

    Comment by stellarstar — October 2, 2007 @ 12:00 am

Funny…I don’t see the word “treason” anywhere in the MoveOn ad. And I certainly don’t see where MoveOn called the general “Patreasonous.” But I do see the word “betray” and I do see references to these definitions of that word:

    - to be unfaithful in guarding, maintaining, or fulfilling.

    - to deceive, misguide, or corrupt.

    - To be false or disloyal to.

    - To lead astray; deceive.

    - Cause someone to believe an untruth.

  96. Michaelm Says:

Rush is right in his apologizing on behalf of hypocrites like Durbin, Murtha, Kerry, Etc. This is a non-issue from loser Dems who are always looking for a cheesy way to make political points and create a scandal. Their just pissed because Bush, who they claim is an idiot, has run circles around them time and time again. I mean c’mon they’ve made comments to make political points at the expense of the same American troops they claim to support. Rush was speaking of one person in particular and okay, generalizing about others who are acting like Kerry did years ago when he also lied. Some people like Rush and some hate him but Harkin showed he is low class in his adolescent comments and I just get a big laugh out of all the blowhard politicians who couldn’t give a shit less about the troops on the ground, who are now screaming.
And as for liberals, what is it with you guys can’t you talk about people you don’t like without name calling. Even when you have a point (rarely) you sound like petty children who haven’t yet mastered the English language. It seems when you can’t articulate your point you start turning red and name calling. Go ahead and keep it up you are very entertaining and stress takes years off your lives.

  97. toasterhead Says:

    Comment by tsarbomba — October 1, 2007 @ 8:27 pm

Iraq is an unwinnable war. We support our military by advocating that they be withdrawn — as the situation allows — from their role as civil war referees and go back to their job of protecting America.

It’s not. It is, however, to cross a border with a prescription with another persons name on it. Had Rush been traveling with his doctor, then he could say “I was holding the viagra for my doc!” and it would have been a non-issue.

Rush, instead, said “I didn’t want to have my name printed on a bottle of viagra! It’s my drugs! Go ahead, call my doctor and he’ll tell you!”

    How. . . . noble of him. /sarcasm

    Deficit Reduction (uh, no)
    Social Security Reform (well…)
Repeal of the Patriot Act (not exactly)

  108. nanlichi Says:

Rush is simply exercising his right to free speech. If he wants to call anyone who disagrees with his God Bush’s War a phony, that is his right. It’s not the first time he has made irrational and indefensible statements in defense of his God.

It also doesn’t make that fat drugged out draft dodger right, just consistent.

And it’s true that he won’t lose any listeners. The Kool Aid crowd that listen to Rush are the losers dragging our country down. They are afraid of America and who we are. Bunch of pathetic cowards, they live in fear of everything…..minorities, gays, atheists, communists and anyone who doesn’t believe in the Bearded Wonder as the one path to salvation.

Better to pity those piss soaked losers than to engage them. Let Rush preach his insanity to the insane and let’s move on.

  109. Jericho Says:

  110. Dr.Know Says:

Rush was speaking of one person in particular and okay, generalizing about others who are acting like Kerry did years ago when he also

Ahhh..”generalizing” now was he? So he was making a blanket assumption about soldiers who don’t agree with the bush administration’s spin about how well Iraq is going then. Those soldiers are then “phony” soldiers to you right? You have just proved the point that your hero rush, the overweight, three times divorced junkie draft dodger has slandered ACTIVE DUTY soldiers.

But let’s be honest, this behavior is nothing new for you apologists, you boot licker’s of a fat, junkie coward who didn’t have the stones to serve in vietnam. Noooo this is just SOP for the wingnuts. You have NO compassion or respect for “the troops” other than to use them as photo op’s and flack catchers for the reckless failure of a neocon gamble. Need proof? Go to LGF or redstate or freerepublic and type in the names of those soldiers who dared to speak out against the handling of the war. Names like Murtha, Kerry, Tammy Duckworth, Jim Webb, Josh Gaines,Paul Hackett,John Batiste, Joe Sestak or even Pat Tillman and his family- go and see how your fellow travelers “support” the troops and you may realize that that support only lasts as far as a party line. A line,by the way that’s growing fainter by the hour.

And why not?You bottom feeders spend most of your time just slandering people. Sure it may have been rove’s game plan at first with the Max Cleland slime but you caught on quickly. The purple heart band aids, swift boating, even turning on your own like Chuck Hagel. It’s just a sort of reflex now. But it’s also your Achilles heel. The circle of people that are against this war, this administration even this current incarnation of the GOP is growing larger every day and the very tactics that you use against those folks are the ones that make that group grow. Need proof? Look no further than fat-ass junkie’s attempt to smear Michael J Fox. That little act probably cost you wingnuts the election in that state. So please, keep it up. Keep telling us that five deferments cheney, no-show bush and draft dodging junkie who can’t stay married rush that they’re right and we’re allll wrong. It’ll make 2008 that much sweeter!

  111. Reality Bytes Says:

  113. American Style Fascism Says:

This is the part of politics and punditry that I truly despise. WTF is Congress doing?! This is like a playground in the 5th grade. None of this is relevant. It’s free speech for christ’s sake. It’s one thing for blogs and commentators to blather on about what Move On did and what Rush said, not that anything is accomplished by it as it’s just more fodder for the brain dead media to hold on to. But when it gets to the floor for an actual resolution, the wheels have really come off of our democracy.

What Move On did in my opinion was the result of frustration with these policies. There are people dying daily because of this war and if the right can’t take on a little frustration from the majority of this country then too bad. The general will live to see another day. Limbaugh on the other hand is a friggin’ windbag from way back. Anyone that doesn’t fit into his compartmentalized reality is a phony soldier. All of this from an ass cyst having, non-combat fighting chickenshithawk water boy for the Republican party. What a total tool.

  116. American Style Fascism Says:

    BROKEBACK LIB TROLL-

“Brokeback Lib”? Oh, I get it, it’s a reference to a movie about 2 gay cowboys and you’ve substituted “Mountain” for “Libs”! Because we don’t discriminate against those who have differing lifestyles because it’s wrong and those that do are driven by fear and the anguish of their own questionable orientation. Pure genius!! The way you throw around the inference that we’re all gay is so clever. We wouldn’t even suspect that you lean a little towards the non hetero. Brilliant! Was this an off the cuff thing or have you been honing it for sometime, either way, it’s pure comedy gold. Man, most of the posts I read from trolls are so unoriginal, they use words like”libtards” and even worse…”sissies”.

Do you have a 12 year old ghost writer ? Or was this the result of your own fertile mind? Very well thought out purile post there.

    Brokeback LIB….
This should be fun….First, before you divert attention like most other trolls I come across by referencing something that wasn’t even in the realm of discussion, can you tell me how your link has anything to do with fascism? Unless you’re making the point that most media companies are owned by conservatives and by that they have used the medium of media as a propaganda tool, then yes, you are correct, the media can play a role in the fascist movement. But I am eagerly awaiting your well informed, non Rush Limbaugh, non Hannity talking points.

  119. Exit Stage Left Says:

  120. American Style Fascism Says:

Exit Stage Left…..Is that a reference to the Dixiecrats? The southern racist democrats that opposed civil rights legislation? Also, is your screen name a reference to Rush the band, not the windbag?

  121. American Style Fascism Says:

Brokeback lib? Are you there? Got nothin’? The information that your searching for is probably the phantom argument that the left wants to re-issue or re-visit the fairness doctrine which drove the righties crazy and tried to spin it and bemoaned that their free speech would be interfered with by trying to shut down conservative radio. Nothing could be further from the truth. Radio licenses are given out in the interest of the public. The interest of the public is to have dissenting views. When it comes to conservative talk radio, dissenting views are not represented. And since the public airwaves are just that, public. It means that having airwaves dominated by conservative talk does not constitute fair and balanced airwaves. See what I did there? I said fair and balanced to make you feel at home.

    Comment by Exit Stage Left

When it became obvious that there is NOTHING Democratic about the Party.

You either walk the walk and talk the talk or you are out!

  124. MaverickCoast Says:

The Moveon.org ad about Gen. Petraeus was appropriate. Petraeus should have been more forthright in his testimony. Instead he chose to paint a rosy picture of the surge that was contrary to the reality on the ground in Iraq. He said the surge was doing well. It isn’t. He didn’t even write his own report the White House wrote it. They told him what to say. It was a great ad by Moveon.org and they were right in questioning Petraeus’ motives in misleading Congress.

    Comment by Probus

You are going to believe a political hack organization over a decorated four-star general?

By the way, the Left was criticizing Petraeus before they even knew what he was going to say. And he hardly painted a “rosey” picture of Iraq!

    Get a clue!

  125. dave from queens Says:

Rush Limbaugh doesn’t even have the integrity to admit he said what he said.

Instead he makes up a lie (he was talking about someone whom he mentions 2 minutes later) gets caught on the lie,

then dubs the tape, gets caught dubbing the tape, and is back to more smears.

If this is the best conservative’s have as a mouthpiece, we’re all going to be liberals in another 5 years.

  126. Former Marine Says:

I was listening to Rush Limbaugh the day he made this statement. There can be no misunderstanding of his meaning. He made direct references to Jesse Macbeth as a “phony soldier” and gave his definition of a “phony soldier” (one making false claims about their military/combat service and/or awarding themselves medals they never received). Most of the people who are on the bandwagon against Rush did not even directly hear his comments on the show. They are focusing on one telephone conversatiion. I find it ridiculous to hear so many so upset by this when they should be upset by the target of his comments…the “phony soldiers” making the false claims about their military records and awarding themselves medals they never received. Get real and grow up folks!

    I fully support Rush Limbaugh.
