Bush administration wasted millions on government travel.»

A Government Accountability Office report reveals “federal employees wasted at least $146 million over a one-year period in business or first-class airline tickets.” The report found that “67 percent of premium-class travel by executives or their employees…was unauthorized or otherwise unjustified. Among the worst offenders: the State Department, whose employees typically fly abroad on official business.”

Sadly 146 million isn’t really enough to get upset about these days.

Isn’t this about a day in Iraq?

Wow, and the Bush Administration can’t comprehend the word: budget! Bush has used the U.S. dollar like monopoly money. Spend thrift on pet projects, profiting from a war on false pretenses, and leave this country in bankruptcy and a possible 3rd world country. Very sad.

    Conservatism = fiscal responsibility.

    Yeah, right.

Under the Bush administration, my husband and I have gone from paying 8% in federal taxes to 16.5% last year.

I’m so happy to find out that our 8.5% increase is letting these good folks travel around so freely.

    Unf*ckingreal.

Why am I not surprised. Nothing but the best for the Borrow and Spend Republicans.

What ever the White House wants the American people feel is ok. Look it’s better then spending money on American Children Health Care or helping
our injured soldiers. If Americans wanted an honest
Administration they would have voted one in. The
Republicans said God said He wanted Bush to be
President. Now we know which God the Republicans
were talking about, it was Satan. All those Christian
Republicans have been working closely with Satan while thinking it was God. Sounds like the bible story of when Jesus was killed and the Christians were tricked. The bible did say Satan would come into the Church now we see it was true. Clarence Thomas took the 30 pieces of Silver and now is struggling with that decision.

Haven’t you heard that you received a tax cut under the bush administration? That is, unless you happen to be one of the many people that didn’t. ;)

The republican talking points never match their behavior, just ask toe tapping Craig!

  9. IKBENBANGDE Says:

It’s the Bush Cronies who are running up the First Class fares at State not the careerists.

White House Advance people. The ones who keep out protestors.

Those same advance people are sent overseas, paid large sums to boss the Embassy staff around and eat and drink on the government’s dime.

    Beileve it.

Well yes, you certainly don’t expect your representatives to wait in line, lose their luggage and miss a flight to their vacation home do you? After all, they are more important than the masses, that be you and me.

Sorry pal it is not the government’s dime, it is mine, yours and everybody elses dime.

Something else nobody will do anything about. There is enough on this administration to indict all the key players several times over but it will never happen. There is no remedy. No one in congress is going to get anywhere with this. They can hold hearings and sputter about but until it’s impeachment/indictment time, the rats on the ship will travel in comfort.

I have no problem allowing many government employees who have to take very long flights to get to some truly far-flung areas of the earth have a decent flight - as the rules require, when it’s over 14 hours. But cut the BS on these folks who seem to be running some sort of racket.

As far as texaslady’s comment on our representatives, having worked there, I would find it difficult to see them taking first-class tickets on domestic flights… In fact, nearly impossible. The only way for them to be able to do that would be to upgrade using personal funds or campaign funds. If you ave any doubts, all their official travel ticket purchases are publicly available, from the Secretary of the Senate’s office for example.

Sadly, you’ve hit the nail on the head. They have the buddy-buddy system and all are guilty so the rats will all cover for each other.

Yes. I’ve said the same, almost word for word, and then some! I’m disgusted, angry and very frustrated at how this corrupt bunch on Capitol Hill is running this country into the ground. It’s very depressing.
