Last night, the Heritage Foundation hosted a dinner for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and “a small number” of conservative “bloggers and New Media members.” During the dinner, Thomas told the right-wing bloggers “several times” that he was “very impressed with the work” they do:
He told us that he had deliberately wanted to spend the first day of his book launch with New Media journalists, noting specifically that he felt good about avoiding the Supreme Court press on the occasion. Thomas explained that he wished we’d been around in 1991, that we could have made sure that the facts of the case came to light. We could have worked around the mainstream media narrative, he told us, and stated several times that he was very impressed with the work we did.
James Joyner has the list of who was present at the dinner.
Uncle Thomas
October 2nd, 2007 at 10:54 amGet over yourself Clarence. We’ve got tolerate this self-serving no-brained hypocrit for how long? Sheeeeeeeesh, thanks Bush’s Daddy
October 2nd, 2007 at 10:56 amGet over yourself Clarence. We’ve got to tolerate this self-serving no-brained hypocrite for how long? Sheeeeeeeesh, thanks Bush’s Daddy
October 2nd, 2007 at 10:56 amSorry for the double post, didn’t catch it in time.
October 2nd, 2007 at 10:57 amWay to go Justice Thomas. Keep up the great work! Follow your convictions and not be swayed by hateful victims of their own ineptness.
Always wanting gov’t to hold your hand while crossing the street.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:03 amfascist birds of a feather stick together.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:03 amSo a right-winger loves right-wing blogs? This isn’t a surprise — I’m a bit left of center, and I prefer left-wing blogs. Each to his own, but this isn’t really news.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:06 amHe told us that he had deliberately wanted to spend the first day of his book launch with New Media journalists
You guys should be happy, he’s setting future precedent for other supreme court justices to chill with blogs. Maybe next time it’ll be a liberal judge and you guys can get their autograph.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:07 amLOL – Clarence is exactly right. Libs learned that they can destroy people back when Bork and then Thomas were nominated, and now rank and file Reps have learned how to destroy those destroyers, just ask Dan Rather.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:08 amClarence Thomas also broke a record as Rush’s longest speaking guest on his radio program yesterday. Seems Clarence also likes the talk radio medium as much as right wing bloggers.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:09 am“Always wanting gov’t to hold your hand while crossing the street.”
Comment by ANeccessaryEvil —
Well, it is getting a little scary crossing the street, having to wait underneath a security camera for a signal to tell me when to cross, with a riot policeman on both sides of the street, as the Navigators and Humvees bear down on the intersection trying to squeal through the yellow light…
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:10 amIt only takes one voice to reveal the hypocracy and weakness of the “annointed” black leadership in the US. Sharpton and Jackson, while defending oppressed blacks, also keep them oppressed by their policies, ensure that they keep their own jobs. Oprah, Sharpton and Jackson are beneficiaries of the “industry of the problem”, and will therefore, never allow those problems to be solved.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:11 amWhat a pathetic idiot. This clown isn’t anywhere near qualified to be on the Supreme Court. He is a disgrace to his position.
Thomas wouldn’t have stood a snowball’s chance in hell of getting confirmed had the blogosphere been around in 1991. Back then he was very lucky that other witnesses to his disgusting sexual harassment didn’t surface until after the confirmation hearings. Thomas must be conveniently forgetting that two WSJ reporters who set out to write a book favorable to him were forced to conclude that Hill’s charges were corroborated by other witnesses and essentially true. Alan Simpson later apologized to Hill and said that he would not have voted to confirm Thomas had he known about the other witnesses. Had the blogosphere been around then Thomas would have been toast before the hearings even started.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:12 am>Maybe next time it’ll be a liberal judge and you
> guys can get their autograph.
Or instead of fawning over them maybe ask them tough questions like how to define “victory” in the “war” on “terror”…. well it was justice kennedy, hes only liberal half the time, so maybe that doesnt count…
> learned how to destroy those destroyers, just ask Dan Rather.
bwhwhahahaha. hendler theres a reward out for proof that bush actually served in alabama, maybe you can produce the evidence…something more than a dental exam..
you were aware that the secretary in charge of keeping records like the documents in dispute said although she didnt beleive the documents were genuine, that thier contents were accurate…? or did you miss that part hendler?
classic rovian trick… of course as bush’s crypt keeper, he has access to the original documents..type up some exact duplicates with minor flaws, leak them, then tip your blogger buddies off to those flaws, and boom.. the geniune contents of the documents have been discredited (along with the person who released them)
clever, but the truth of bush desertion and drug use is obvious for all to see.. theres no proof he served as required in alabama…he began refusing to answer questions about his use of drugs, etc…fine presidential material for sure…
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:18 amPlease! It was covered on national television for days. If you did not know it was happening you were living with your head in the sand. These convenient witnesses appear after the hearings. Just another left wing conspiracy theory.
Don’t let the race pimps keep you down!
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:19 am“…beneficiaries of the “industry of the problemâ€, and will therefore, never allow those problems to be solved.”
LOL
Have you been reading a lot of progressive weblogs?
It’s starting to show up in your terminology…..
“Industry of the Problem”
If this is an original of yours, Jason, kudos.
Military Industrial Problem… that has a nice ring to it…
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:20 amAnita Hill’s article in today’s New York Times is a must read.
Not only was she screwed by Thomas, she was screwed by the media.
Isiah Thomas.
Clarence Thomas.
Both sexual harassers. Both darlings of the Rightards.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:23 am>Oprah, Sharpton and Jackson are beneficiaries of the
>“industry of the problemâ€, and will therefore,
>never allow those problems to be solved.
Yes, Hendler, another brilliant post from you as always, its those gosh darn pesky self problem perpetuating negroes that are just making it hard for us to all get along. Thank god we have nice, white, shiny leaders like Donald “I sold weapons to Saddam” Rumsfeld, Ronnie “I sold weapons to Iran and the Taliban” Reagan, and Condi “I sell weapons to the home country of 80 percent of the 9-11 hijackers, who financed a few of them too” Rice.
All these nice white men arent the type to stoop to being beneficiaries of the “industry of the problem”, right Hendler?
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:25 amSo much for an independent judiciary.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:25 amJust another left wing conspiracy theory.
Comment by ANeccessaryEvil — October 2, 2007 @ 11:19 am
Okay, then, explain Alan Simpson’s mea culpa if it was just a left wing conspiracy theory. I don’t remember their names, but these were two seasoned investigative reporters working for the WSJ who reported it.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:28 amHe is not shy about telling us where his love and mind is.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:29 amClarence Thomas is a whining, ugly, vindictive, lying sack of slimy Uncle Tom. Disgusting. He’s a typical rightwing thug, blaming *everyone* else on the planet for his own actions.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:30 am>Please! It was covered on national television for days.
Oh really? Wow , gosh, you know, I mean, so was everything about Nicole’s baby’s daddy. I mean, it like, totally must have gotten the coverage it deserved.
>These convenient witnesses appear after the hearings.
Uhm wouldnt it have been more convenient for them to appear BEFORE the hearings if they were only made to bolster the case against the pube-master?
>Just another left wing conspiracy theory.
Yeah, you know, I mean obviously, these allegations, coming after previous allegations, couldnt be credible….uhm….because otherwise, those other allegations, would have been the first.. therefore making Hill’s not credible…
hey, tell us more about your rightwing conspiracy theory about how islamists are going to form a unified league of supervillians and take over the country?
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:31 am#17 If you want to bring up others: Let us not forget Bill Clinton who was caught in several lies. Reportedly use his power in Arkansas to use and manipulate many women and some cases force himself on them.
Oh yeah, another right wing conspiracy with SEVERAL women coming forward and NONE after the hearings and lawsuits.
Yet, women’s lib rules in left wing land. Choose to see what you want to see.
You never condemn your own unless they become enlightened like Lieberman and wins as a independent.
Isiah Thomas will get his, too!
Keep up the independent thinking and rule of law Justice Thomas.
Don’t be swayed by special interest like Media Matters.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:32 amIOKIYAR.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:33 amIt’s totally kool for Repubs to hang out with extremist bloggers.
Meanwhile, Jason, none of the top 4 Republican presidential wannabees showed up at Morgan state organized by black talk show host Tavis Smiley.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:34 amJudging from the veritable army of straw men just erected in comment #24 (Clinton did it!), I think the wheels are starting to come off of ANecessaryEvil.
Thomas’s guilt shines through his sulking, bitter demeanor.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:36 amAnd as for Clarence and Rush its just cronyism-
In 1994, Thomas performed, at his home, the wedding ceremony for radio host Rush Limbaugh’s third marriage, to Marta Fitzgerald.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:39 am>Let us not forget Bill Clinton who was caught in several lies.
which ones? we know without a doubt saddam hussien has WMD ?
we know where the weapons are? saddam hussien is working on nukes?
he’s trying to get uranium? you mean lies like those?
wait wait.. hold on.. i guess its never been 100 proven that saddam DIDNT give his WMD to aliens, right?
>Oh yeah, another right wing conspiracy with SEVERAL women
> coming forward and NONE after the hearings and lawsuits.
he hits on women, he’s a perv..sure…the president isnt supposed to be a saint… who exactly was it that financed the lawsuit against clinton again?
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:39 amand who financed the lawsuit against thomas? there wasnt one? oh wait… hmmm
#23 Just more excuses to blame others. Oh yeah, CNN was the only major 24 news outlet and they lean left but they could not FIND them.
I wonder why.
I am sure I will get the latest conspiracy theory. Waiting with anticipation…what is the latest movie plot of the week?
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:40 amMaybe next time it’ll be a liberal judge and you guys can get their autograph. -Squeege
Why would anyone want a Judges autograph?
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:41 am#29 Both Clinton’s agreed with all those…try something new…changing the subject to deflect the truth. A typical left wing diversion. Never want to face the truth. Never want to admit being wrong.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:42 am#24 Author May be evil, but I doubt that it’s necessary.

Clarence spent time talking with a man. Rush, who claims to have a truth detector, a metal piece of equipment IE Tinfoil, lodged in his drug addled cranium.

Project much?
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:44 amI’m thinking there are more than a few in the current administration who would like to have a judges autograph; on an immunity from prosecution ruling.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:45 amPreceless…ANecessaryEvil injects the Clinton name into the discussion at the first opportunity, and then castigates CJ for employing “left-wing diversions”.
The mouhbreathing neocon apologists are absolutely steeped in hypocrisy…they can’t even recognize it in themselves any longer.

Xisithrus, you beat me to it. One need know only what ANecessaryEvil has written in this one thread to see the compulsion to project.

Jesus H. Christ, you’re still reverting to ‘Clinton did it, too’? Get a grip. I asked TP’rs to read Anita Hill’s article. Did you? Then STFU, troll.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:50 amComment by VerbalKint — October 2, 2007
You would think they would change tactics – as its such a lame method of argument.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:54 amClarence is upset the centrist media grilled him over Anita Hill. of course Thomas is operating under the assumption of the liberal media myth that has been debunked, thoroughly.
Even Karl Rove realized that the media was combative, Rush, Thomas and many others [trolls] still propagate this looney conspiracy theory.
Frankly I think its harmful to have Judges that are partisan when justice is supposed to be blind when weighing its decisions.
October 2nd, 2007 at 11:59 amThomas hates affirmative action yet he was the beneficiary of it twice. Once to get into Yale Law School and again when Papa Bush felt he had to nominate a black to replace Judge Marshall. Talking about biting the hand that feeds you. He’s the main reason to argue that SCOTUS appointments should not be for life. He’s too imcompetent and bitter to make clear judgements.
October 2nd, 2007 at 12:45 pmGood, and we love him!!
http://www.americanlegends.blogspot.com
October 2nd, 2007 at 3:12 pmHe sounds as angry and bitter now as he did when the confirmation hearings were being conducted. He hasn’t grown much mentally or intellectually.
