But no, you’re not racists. You can’t be. You’re liberal.

Classic straw-man garbage from your second-rate mind.

Nobody here said that; unfortunately, racism is endemic, to people of all political philosophies and skin hues. Most of my liberal friends recognize that; most of my conservative friends deny it.

>Bomb an aspirin factory,

an aspirin factory ALLEGEDLY linked to Al-Queda, correct?

I your hero dumbya said an aspirin factor was linked to al-queda, would you question his judgement? yes or no?

Why is it that when your hero Dumbya accuses someone or something of being involved in AL-Queda, you drop the qualifier "allegedly" and just assume his judgement is allegedly correct?

>Please see the above link and find dissenting oppinions written by Justice >Thomas in the Kelo v. New London Conneticut case

right..the one where he uses the very "logical inference" argument that he and all others rightwing riechtard "strict constructionists" regularly deride liberals for using when they interpret the constitution. I applaud his reasoning in that case, simplistic though it may be. its certainly not profound, and yet, it arguably overshadowed by shortsighted, dictatorial dissents wherein he states that he would give this president, and all fututure presidents, the sole and unchalleneged ability to decide when we were at war, who we were at war with, and what they were guilty of.

heaven forbid, someday we have a president who isnt as painfully honest as george bush, because if we ever did, I could see a president abusing his alleged wartime powers and never being held accoutable because the war and everything about it is a "classified state secret"

> They never mention the fact that Stephen Breyer actually advocates the >use of foreign law when interpreting the US Constitution, a willfully >STUPID act if ever there was,

you DO know than a great deal of our legal jurisprudence is derived from English law, right? obviously , spouting all this legal mumbo jumbo, you must be a lawyer, like so many of the other trolls around here claim to be.

also...
you do know that the power the Constitution gives to congress to ratify foreign treaties implies that congress can in essence validate foreign laws and incorporate them into our own legal system if they agree with them, right? or is that drawing more of an inference than THomas did in the case you cited above.

> Clearly, you can’t provide evidence of poorly written oppinions by Justice >Thomas because they don’t exist.

Clearly! Smart people avoid using that word much. YOu know they don't exist how?

Godfather, your patronizing rants seem strangely familar.. have you posted here under any other names?

You know Thomas doesn't do himself any favors by never writing a court opinion and refusing to aks questions of litigants.

Doesn't really seem that he is interested in the work, just the stature and following Scalia's lead.

That he seems lazy as hell has nothing whatsoever to do with his skin color. It is his behavior.

Ask a question for God's sakes!!

Reply to Godfather II: My friend I agree that Justice Thomas is an intelligent individual. But his problem is the "Race Card", he played it to get onto the Court and then he became a "Yes Man", for Justice Scalia and the conservatives who use him to bash other African Americans. He's at best a fool and at worst an "Uncle Tom", who doesn't understand that his job is for life and he doesn't have to make the coffee, carry the water, step and fetch for anyone. Any so called intelligent person doesn't believe something so much that he or she can't think for himself.

If Just Us Thomas really was the great person who cares about people, then he wouldn't do everything he possibly can to hurt African Americans. This guy used that Sh*t eating grin of his too say, "Yeesss Suurrrr Bosssssss" to win favor with a bunch of Gay bashing, minority hating, women controlling, violating the constitution, breaking the law idiots who call themselves Republicans. Come on guy why would Shawn (Racist in the Closet) Hannity call Thomas's enemies racist when he denies racism exists in America. When any black person other than Thomas who happens to disagree with Republicans like Jesse Jackson uses that term, Hannity claims it's race baiting.

But I guess when you are questioning the greatest "Uncle Tom" or all, you can get away with it. Look at the clip again and watch how Thomas smiles broadly in an attempt to please Hannity. This reminds me of one of those old movies with the ignorant black man saying. "Yesss Surrr Bossss". I mean come on, Thomas grew up at a time when blacks were protrayed as ignorant slow speaking idiots who could only say, "Yessss Surrrrr Bosssss". So of course Hannity is going to play Thomas for all he's worth to show that even he (Thomas) is an ignorant fool although he's a Supreme Court Justice. And Thomas played the "Step and fetch" role to a "T".

Lets get real if Thomas was a so called liberal, Hannity would be attacking him. It's only because this man is such a fool that conservatives use him to do their bidding. He's the perfect tool to get their racist message out. He says and does the things they wish they could do in public.

Thomas doesn't write opinions. He hires (only!) Federalist Society clerks to do that stuff for him (and they obligingly churn out the FedSoc party line).

On C-SPAN a couple years back, he appeared with a bunch of school kids, and one asked him what the rationale was for one of the landmark cases of the prior term (to which he'd signed on), B.S.A. v. Dale. The distinguished jurist replied that that was last term, and he didn't remember ... maybe like he didn't remember any discussion about Roe v. Wade....

Cheers,

Nanlichi,

If you are not racists (meaning liberals), then why is the only justice that is routinely criticized as being intellectually inferior is also the only black justice?

Godfather2,

We can and will disagree on the mental capacity of Clarence Thomas, but just on the fine point of whether that disagreement means we are racist is logically faulty. We disagree with Thomas because of his ideology, and would have the same position whether he was white, brown, red or Labrador. The color of his skin is totally irrelevant. And I think you know that.

There is one black person in my group, and he is head and shoulders above the rest of us. He works for me but I can't hold a candle to him. Does that mean I think blacks are superior to my German/English ancestors? No.

And before someone rants about the fact that he works for me, it's because I am an old fart and he isn't. I may very well work for him before I retire. That's ok too.

I’m not playing the race card.

When you suggest that all criticism of Clarence Thomas must be a response to his skin color -- that's playing the race card.

I won't bother replying to the rest of your post, which is merely regurgitated talk-radio pablum.

Its a big world and just because you encountered Klansmen in North Carolina doesn’t mean that Republican Party is composed entirely of self hating blacks and white supremecists.

Just consider the possibility.

Comment by Godfather2

GF - the Republican party is absolutely NOT composed entirely of 'self hating blacks and white supremacists'.

You forgot the pedophiles, the warmongering chickenhawks, the gay bashers, the bigots, the religious zealots, the bullies and the corrupt thugs.

Hmmm. Have I forgotten anyone...?

Godfather2’s logic [...] is bs.

Totally.

And for Clarence Thomas (and Godfather2) to play the race card is despicable. But it saves them from having to engage in honest, rational discourse.

Moreover, in his opinions, Clarence Thomas is not only out of step with the vast majority of the judicial establishment, he is out of step with the vast majority of Americans. He is out of his depth.

I am wrong, thanks for pointing it out Godfather2 and koko. Clarence has written opinions and he doesn't always have his tongue in Scalia's ass. My bad.

But, but, but.... Godfather2's logic that because liberals don't like Clarence's opinions and Clarence is also black, therefore liberals are racist is bs.

What gives you folks the idea Thomas has written no opinions while on the Supreme Court?

Here's one (in defense of carrying guns in school zones) in which he endorses undoing 60 years of legal rulings concerning the Commerce Clause. The case is United States v. Lopez.

His opinion suggesting that the States may endorse religion occurs in this opinion for Elk Grove Unified School District v. Newdow.

Note that they cannot name an oppinion to substantiate this charge.

See #87: According to Thomas, states are not prohibited from establishing a religion (Elk Grove Unified School District v. Newdow). Our forefathers would be aghast. Additionally, Thomas doesn’t believe in stare decisis (i.e., legal precedent). Every justice who has ever sat on the Supreme Court would be aghast.

If your criticism of Thomas is his lack of regard for Stare decisis, then you must be terribly upset that Plessy V. Fergessun was overturned.

Why? The Court has often overruled its earlier decisions -- 130 times between 1946 and 1992. But according to Scalia, Clarence Thomas "doesn't believe in stare decisis, period."

PS: It's "Ferguson" not "Fergessun," you ignorant blowhard.

Godfather2, you dumb c*nt. You can't point to an opinion by Clarence because as has been pointed out, the POS hasn't written any. As far as anyone knows, he may not even have one. He just puts his tongue in Scalia's ass and says "me too."

It has nothing to do with being rascist. I think you are an ignorant f*ck, and I don't even know what race you are. If I offended your mother, white, brown, black or red, and your father, Labrador, Cocker Spaniel, German Shorthair...whatever, it has nothing to do with race.
