Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) said this morning on Fox News that he would likely join Rep. Mark Udall’s (D-CO) resolution to condemn Rush Limbaugh’s “phony soldiers” remark. He explained, “I condemn the words that MoveOn.org used, not the organization’s right to say it. I condemn the words, if this is how it’s stated — that Rush Limbaugh used, not his right to state it.” Sestak, who retired as a Navy admiral after serving for 31 years, lashed out at Limbaugh’s smear against pro-withdrawal troops, arguing that it’s important to encourage military people to “think and critique differently”:
Your military remembers that age-old maxim from the 1600s that a nation that draws a broad line of demarcation between its thinking men and its fighting men will find its thinking done by cowards and its fighting done by fools. You need to have military people who think and critique differently.
Watch it:

Joe is trying to protect one of his cronies. This is the saddest part. the 21st commander of a criminal war and someone finally speaks up about that treason. Yes, treason. Go ahead and try to argue that the actions of a general to kill civilians is not a war crime.
I am for this , but not this and you can say that but not this?
what kind of scum have we elected?

Huh?
October 3rd, 2007 at 10:53 amHats off to Joe and to all who post here that served.
That quote needs to be posted again…
a nation that draws a broad line of demarcation between its thinking men and its fighting men will find its thinking done by cowards and its fighting done by fools
Chickenhawks have been doing the thinking. Let’s not let our soldiers become the fools.
October 3rd, 2007 at 10:53 amDo you rightwing nitwits see what you have brought on? All because you had to get the fake outrage machine cranking to distract the publice once again with the MoveOn nonsense, now we have lawmakers wasting time and resources having to respond to every stupid thing anybody says about the troops.
Thanks for wasting all our time with trivial stupidity and for setting the bar so low.
October 3rd, 2007 at 10:53 amAny other Dems or Repugs to join Sestak?
Crickets chirping.
October 3rd, 2007 at 10:57 amIt is a sad commentary on the state of American governance; that time and words are wasted on arguing over bottom feeding gutter snipes like Limpwad.
October 3rd, 2007 at 10:57 amDo you suppose this is congress’ way of escapism from actually making legit bills etc?
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:02 amWow,
Incredible quote, but waaaaaaaaaaay above the intellectual capacity of our knuckle dragging Christ666ian conserv666ative republic666ans to understand. Dumb it down for their consumption.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:02 amCan’t……take……anymore. Must…..activate……destruct sequence……on….Rush Story………..uhhhhh……
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:02 amComment by Rory — October 3, 2007 @ 10:57 am
Do you know that you are wrong? Rush knows. That’s why he felt it was necessary to edit the tape of his show. You know the tape he put together where he says it’s the 3+ minutes of unedited tape proving the case he & you are making. He knew that that tape, unedited, would prove the Dems point. That’s why he removed all of the 1+ minutes of text that separated his “phony soldiers” claim and the later discussion about MacBeth. They were two different points. He knows that or he wouldn’t have edited the tape. You heard it live apparently, so you know it too. But you don’t care. You don’t care about the troops, you don’t care about the supposed “mission” in Iraq. All you care about is defending the party. Rush could come out and admit that what he meant to say & what he said was that anyone who wants to withdraw is a phony soldier and you’d find a way to defend that too. It’s all a game of semantics for you & Rush but in the end all that matters is defending the party. Even GWB agrees with the point Rush made. He’s said repeatedly that anyone who doesn’t support this war is not a patriot. I don’t know why this is even a point of discussion. The point is moot…. the Republican party & GWB don’t represent the U.S. They are only concerned with supporting their pov. The rest of America can go to hell. And it is… very quickly.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:04 amI see we’re back to “Rory” now…
What’s the matter, Jake? Find that no one would talk to you under your real name? ^_^
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:07 am“to determine WHAT? That Rush Limbaugh has the same free speech rights as you and me?”
Or MoveOn.org you F’n idiot!
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:15 amIn our current situation the thinking is being done by cowardly fools.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:16 amI’m still betting Rory, that had Rush just come out and said that all military personnel that support withdrawal from Iraq are phony soldiers, that you & Fox & the Republicans would stand by him, much as you are right now. The semantics of what he said, how he said it, what he meant, is all just a dog & pony show. He’s carrying water for GWB as are you. You support the party regardless of the damage they do. The Dixie Chicks weren’t patriots for disagreeing with their Pres & soldiers that support withdrawal are phony. Rush has the right to speak freely, much like MoveOn.Org has. That’s really the point of this exercise.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:20 am“Rush Limbaugh has the same free speech rights as you and me”
and the “phony soldiers” …the ones who don’t agree with rush’s tripe. Don’t have any free speech rights?
heh…
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:20 am#1 - “what kind of scum have we elected?” Comment by oldtree — October 3, 2007 @ 10:52 am
Pres. Bush & VPres. Cheney.
That shows everyone exactly the type of scum that has been elected.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:23 am16,
of course they wont, republic666ans don’t join anything that’s not theirs. Good ole boys all
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:25 am#13: “If the Senate or House passes as resolution against Rush, or worse, I hope he hires the best civil rights lawyer out there and sues.” - - The best civil rights attorneys don’t reside in the Republican Party. But thanks for playing our game…
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:26 amOf course, MoveOn.org has free speech rights [they can’t violate 501(c)(3) rules though]. Too bad the Democrats in Congress didn’t see it that way . . . they won’t get a single Republican to join them this time around.
Comment by Rory — October 3, 2007 @ 11:18 am
The MoveOn family of organizations is made up of a couple of different pieces. MoveOn.org Civic Action, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, formerly known just as MoveOn.org, primarily focuses on education and advocacy on important national issues.
MoveOn.ORG is a 501(c)(4) entity, much like the NRA, Christian Coalition & AARP.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:27 amJust a little advice for Rep. Sestak:
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:27 amWhen you go on Fox “News”, keep your statements to small sound bites that the most ignorant of Americans can understand. When you go quoting philosophers form the 1600s, you’ve just lost the entire Fox “News” audience, who have the attention span of a bunch of gnats. Fox “News” viewers are accustomed to being “programmed” with talking points and cannot think for themselves. They must be told how to think, and what you said today went right over their pointy little heads.
Sad.
But true.
Of course I am carrying water for GWB and Rush (although I don’t always agree with them 100%). And, I already said that MoveOn.Org has free speech rights. What’s your point?
Comment by Rory — October 3, 2007 @ 11:27 am
My point is that you’re a hypocrite.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:28 amYou’re a hypocrite because you will debate the details of Rush’s words & argue the semantics of whether he meant that all soldiers that favor withdrawal are “phony” or whether he was just referring to soldiers like MacBeth that fake their military career. But in fact, you’re just carrying water for GWB and you don’t really care about the details, you will support Rush/Bush regardless of the details.
You, Rush & Bush are all hypocrites because you say you support the troops but you will also support an inane war with no real mission, no goal, no means of withdrawal, no end in site. You say you support the troops but you support cutting troop benefits, you don’t concern yourself with ensuring the troops are adequately armed, paid, and supported when they return.
I include you because you’ve already admitted you’re nothing but a water carrier so you are painted with the same broad brush. In the end the troops are nothing but cannon fodder for the Republicans. That makes you a hypocrite and your participation in discussions like this meaningless.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:38 amNo Rory, what it YOUR point? Why do you even bother coming here? You’re not convincing anyone because you make sh!tty arguments.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:43 amSeriously, when will this BS end? Isn’t there a WAR going on? can’t this website find anything that is more newsworthy than the travesty that is Rush Limbaugh? why is this still news? Apparently Congress feels it is more important to debate and question the patriotism of two extremists (MoveOn. Org and Limbaugh) than it is to get any serious work done on Iraq? MoveOn.org and Limpballs had every right to say what they said. does the 1st Amendment mean anything to anyone anymore? I’m sick of people trying to silence those they don’t agree with. both parties are now guilty of it and we effectively have no speech rights in this country anymore without fear of retribution by the sissies in Congress. What exactly are our service members fighting for?
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:51 amIsn’t it a grand waste of time to be condemning anything? Don’t we have better things to do than debate the language of a leftwing anti-war ad and the bloviations of some drug-addled Bush water-carrier?
WHO GIVES A CRAP? Stop wasting our time with this nonsense. Get… a… life….
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:52 amand those who dishonor their own service like Jack Murtha) “phony soldiers.â€
Comment by Rory — October 3, 2007 @ 10:57 am
Sure Rory, Murtha’s a phony soldier because he disagrees with your side. And you’re sitting here typing instead of fighting in Iraq. Go sign up or shut up coward.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:52 amThe only way to get the Republicans to vote with the Democrats on anything is to promise gay sex with young men covered in coke and money while singing the national anthem wrapped in a flag.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:53 amNow Sestak needs to go listen to the actual Limbaugh recording so he doesn’t fall headfirst into the hole the far left is digging for itself.
Comment by O. Bigfoot
You don’t mean the “actual” recording you mean the “edited” recording, right Bigfool.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:57 amComment by rjmadrid05
All of this began with the rightwing in this country getting all upset over some stupid ad and having some kind of fake fainting spell like some “dame” in a black and white movie.
Then of course, in response it was all too easy to find example after example of rightwingers doing similar things.
This is where the rightwing in this country has brought the level of debate down to.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:57 amso what if the rightwingnuts brought the level of debate down in this country, the Demopussies bent over and gave into everything they said they wouldn’t.
October 3rd, 2007 at 12:01 pmIsn’t there a war going on? why are they wasting our time with all these sissy-ass resolutions condemning speech they don’t like?
October 3rd, 2007 at 12:02 pmRory and Bigfool and their type who don’t realize what a lying piece of crap Limbaugh is and listen to him and Fox News like it’s reliable are the out of touch knuckle draggers who will never be reached. Best to let them live with their delusions because they are incapable of seeing discerning fact from fiction. And when making their argument they feel that winning is more important than truth. But then again they feel their party is more important than the country so what can you expect.
October 3rd, 2007 at 12:02 pmIsn’t there a war going on? why are they wasting our time with all these sissy-ass resolutions condemning speech they don’t like?
Comment by rjmadrid05
Because the conservative media (which is 99%) of it does not want to have an adult discussion about Iraq. This is why they spend so much time on Britney, Paris and Lohan.
October 3rd, 2007 at 12:04 pmwhat does Congress have to do with Paris and Britney? and if we are going to waste time, why don’t we pass resolutions condemning their behavior? we have ransacked free-speech, why not start enforcing “appropriate” moral behavior as well?
October 3rd, 2007 at 12:28 pmYou notice the concern trolls are only mad now that Lush Rimjob is getting smacked. When it was just MoveOn, they weren’t screaming about free speech.
Just like they are 100% against anything that has to do with gays, until Larry Craig did the two step tap in the airport bathroom.
You trolls are too fu*king funny. It must be like a tennis match if hypocrisy in your heads.
October 3rd, 2007 at 1:27 pmWhy is Congress wasting time condemning others’ statements. This ridiculous practice could become a full-time activity such that Congress would have no time to do anything else. Way to go, worthless, spineless Congress.
October 3rd, 2007 at 3:05 pmHow about the peoples’ business for a change?
October 3rd, 2007 at 3:30 pmI would like to suggest still another idea. Why not support the troops, and fight the war on a different level. Why not try to reach the students in high school before they sign up for the military. I have put together a high school course that will attempt to do that this year.
Pennysylvania, Turkish and Arabic students are invited to participate.
