Our guest blogger is Page Gardner, president and founder of Women’s Voices. Women Vote Action Fund.
Earlier this week, Ann Coulter told The New York Observer that she believes women shouldn’t have the right to vote:
If we took away women’s right to vote, we’d never have to worry about another Democrat president. It’s kind of a pipe dream, it’s a personal fantasy of mine, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. And it is a good way of making the point that women are voting so stupidly, at least single women.
It also makes the point, it is kind of embarrassing, the Democratic Party ought to be hanging its head in shame, that it has so much difficulty getting men to vote for it. I mean, you do see it’s the party of women and “We’ll pay for health care and tuition and day care — and here, what else can we give you, soccer moms?”
Sigh. Where to begin?
If we were to subscribe to Ms. Coulter’s theory — that single women be left out of the political process — and further assume that given the leading GOP presidential candidates decision to skip Hispanic and African American forums, those Americans be left out as well, we could very well believe that conservatives want the elections decided by married white men.
Let’s hope that’s not true.
The fact is that anyone seeking elected office ignores unmarried Americans at their peril. With each passing year, America is becoming more unmarried. One in four voters is a single woman. It is the marriage gap — not the gender gap or income gap — that will decide the 2008 election.
Fifty percent of all households are now headed by an unmarried person; single women comprise most of them. And whatever predispositions anyone had about who single Americans, they are not what they used to be. They are separated, divorced, widowed and now make up the majority of women. 50 million total.
And while a clear majority of unmarrieds are white, they are considerably more racially diverse than married adults. More than a quarter of unmarried Americans are Latino or African-American. These 50 million Americans — who are more likely not to have health care, are economically stressed, and are solely responsible for their child’s care — have more at stake in this election than their married counterparts.
Ms. Coulter may be a provocateur but a political strategist she is not.
UPDATE: Garance Franke-Ruta and Dave Johnson have more.
She is a man Baby
Man-Coulter spewing crap as usual
October 4th, 2007 at 8:07 pmCoulter is in her last throes and by Nov 2008 she will be relegated to the Christian wacko white ho trash heap.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:09 pmMs. Coulter may be a provocateur but a political strategist she is not.
I think that sums it up very well. She’s definitely a provocateur; otherwise, she’d never sell a book. Without all those appearances on FoxNews, and the unfortunate attention given her by other media outlets, she’d be tending bar somewhere in south Florida. Because she’s also not particularly intelligent and she’s a pretty awful writer. Her willingess to say truly cruel and stupid things on a constant basis is apparently what appeals to her audience.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:09 pmOoh, this is just too rich.
Can’t wait for the regular trolls to defend this (or somehow change the subject as usual).
[grabs popcorn]
October 4th, 2007 at 8:13 pm“Ms. Coulter may be a provocateur but a political strategist she is not.”
What she is, is the queen of wingnut welfare. Without it, she’d still be pasting up badly-mimeographed screeds at college dorms.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:15 pmthis means she won’t be able to vote. hahahahhaha you dumb b*tch!! jokes on you!!
October 4th, 2007 at 8:18 pmIt’s really sad that her huge mouth is such wasted space on such teeny, tiny little RePugniScum d!cks in her useless Grand Old Pedophile Party!!!
I think she could probably service most RePugniScums with just one nostril. Leaving the other for snorting drugs!!! And her mouth free to prosecute her stupidity!!!
October 4th, 2007 at 8:21 pmBART, not while I’m drinking 7-Up please! It burns the nose!
October 4th, 2007 at 8:21 pmher assumption is women vote for democrats thus should be eliminated. to realize her dream she must also want to eliminate afro americans (latinos and jews)since they vote democratic..
October 4th, 2007 at 8:22 pmIt’s obvious that Ann wants to take away the vote from women because so many of them are Democrats. I figure her next logical step is to advocate taking the vote away from African Americans for the same reason.
She would probably be happier in a country where diversity isn’t tolerated, freedoms are absent, and law is interpreted very narrowly. Oh, and where women have no rights. Maybe Afghanistan under the Taliban.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:22 pmReally, shouldn’t she be passed out in a dank alley holding on to a bottle of Woolite?
October 4th, 2007 at 8:23 pmseriously, this comment is so out there it’s a testament to her desperation for some attention. she’s like the brittney spears of the reich wing; next thing you know she’ll be flashing her privates…
ignore her. she’s waaaaay past her sell-by date.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:23 pmI know why women (especially single women) vote Democratic: because they need a daddy or hubby to take care of them.
Comment by Rory — October 4, 2007 @ 8:22 pm
That makes NO sense at all, since both Democratic and Republican candidates have been men up to this point. Why do you think Democratic candidates make better daddy figures? Your answer ought to be interesting.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:25 pmAnn Coulter, the Britney Spears of reich wing politics. They both are meaningless people that get media attention. Neither contribute anything positive to society. They could drop off the face of the earth and wouldn’t be missed.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:27 pmA couple of observations:
1) Ann has a new book out, so look for her to ramp up the vitriol and absurd remarks to get as much press as she possibly can.
2) Ann has already resigned herself to the fact that the Dems are going to conquer her party with a steamroller next year, so she is already laying the framework so she can blame “stupid single women” when it happens.
Either way, she’s like the guy in Monty Python and the Holy Grail who’s still itching for a fight after all his limbs have been cut off.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:29 pmI am a woman, and I support repealing the 19th Amendment as well.Rory

October 4th, 2007 at 8:30 pmThey really ought to rename their movement. Conservative just doesn’t sum up the vast emptiness of thought and the premium placed on ignorance that so typifies the “leading” lights on the right.
I propose: The benighted movement.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:31 pmlol, nice missmolly. “It’s just a flesh wound.”
October 4th, 2007 at 8:32 pmI would be perfectly happy to have all the women and all men except for married white men in the Democratic Party. It would be a much better world for sure.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:32 pmShe would probably be happier in a country where diversity isn’t tolerated, freedoms are absent, and law is interpreted very narrowly. Oh, and where women have no rights. Maybe Afghanistan under the Taliban.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:33 pmmiss molly – you’re probably right about that. Ann Coulter should love living under Taliban rule. It’s a one party government ruled by religion. There are no Taliban liberals. Sounds like something Ann would enjoy.
And we were getting along so well without her….
October 4th, 2007 at 8:33 pmHonestly? I think the question isn’t why she says such stupid things but why the media pays any attention to her whatesoever. She’s an attention whore, and for NBC or CBS or ThinkProgress to give her one moment of their time is giving her just exactly what she wants. She is nothing without lots of attention. Please, stop giving it to her!
There is no merit whatsoever to anything that comes out of her mouth. None. So let’s all pretend she doesn’t exist.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:34 pmRory is no woman. He’s a man posing as a woman. But it seems he DID finally realize that continually referring to himself a “girl” lent zero credibility to his posing.

omg, linda,
October 4th, 2007 at 8:35 pmI didn’t read your comment before I posted mine and I did the same comparison as you did. Great minds think alike :)
1) Ann has a new book out, so look for her to ramp up the vitriol and absurd remarks to get as much press as she possibly can.
She has another new book out. She’s starting to cost the RNC a lot of money. That’s how she gets on the best seller lists. The RNC buys truck loads of her books so they register as “sold”. Then, they try to sell them and when they can’t sell them they give them away and when they can’t give them away they trash them. That way they always register as “sold”. If Mann Coulter’s true sales (meaning someone actually went to a book store and bought her book) were known, she would be the laughingstock of the publishing world. Her publisher is very happy to take their profits by selling her books to the RNC.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:35 pmFrom missmolly: “1) Ann has a new book out, so look for her to ramp up the vitriol and absurd remarks to get as much press as she possibly can.”
Exactly! This is selling her book for her. This increases her google visibility, her technorati visibility, etc., in other words, this all helps her.
A country-wide shunning is in order. Just turn your back and walk away.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:37 pmPlease point out where I ever claimed to be MALE?!
Where did I claim that you claimed to be male? Learn how to read, doughbrain.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:38 pmOnly STUPID women vote Republican. That goes for the men that vote Republican, too. This includes Rory, whether it be male or female.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:40 pmI am a woman, and I support repealing the 19th Amendment as well. Can any of you dispute the statistical FACT that if we took away women’s right to vote, we’d never have another Democratic President elected? I think only one Democratic President in that last 60 years was elected with a majority male vote. Why is it that the Democratic Party can’t get men to vote for them? I know why women (especially single women) vote Democratic: because they need a daddy or hubby to take care of them.
Comment by Rory — October 4, 2007 @ 8:22 pm
This is pretty typical of fake “conservatives”: if you don’t like the result, change the rules.
Don’t like the fact that Democrats get elected? Take away the vote!
Rory, if you don’t like the way women vote, then by all means stay home next election. Walk the walk or shut up.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:42 pmCoulter is a self-loathing woman, afraid of her own vagina, like most conservative women. It’s like the closeted self-loathing gay Republican who votes against gay issues and voices hateful language toward other gays in order to hide his own sexuality. Coulter’s most outrageous comments are often directed at women – widows, Hillary, and now single women of voting age. She really needs help.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:44 pmShe is the ultimate proof that stupidity is in big demand by the media.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:45 pmThe fact that Hannity won a Marconi Award tells me all that I need to know about the mainstream media of today. Journalism is all but dead if you rely on your TV set or your radio. Even NPR parrots rightwing meme’s. Only Olbermann, Stewart and Colbert tell the people the truth. If you haven’t witnessed Stewart’s smackdown of Chris Matthews’ book. Check it out (probably at Crooks&Liars)…it’s awesome.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:45 pmIt makes sense that Coulter would like to do away with her right to vote – after all, she can’t even figure out what precinct she’s registered in.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:45 pmWeird.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:48 pmRory… no, no, no…. the word is stupid as in “stupid Ann Coulter wants to relinquish her right to vote”. Stupid Ann Coulter would enjoy living under Taliban rule. She would have no rights (no more book profits, stupid) and she would enjoy having men rule her under a single, non-liberal, religious government.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:49 pmRory, you really aren’t very sharp sweetheart.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:49 pmI know backpackers love to buy her books.
It gives them something to laugh about around the campfire, they can use the cover photo to scare of bears and such, and the pages make a great substitute for toilet paper.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:51 pmYeah, and you can also burn the pages when you run out of firewood.
What? Women have read five of her best selling books [snark] and they still aren’t smart enough to vote?
Ann is a…I dont know, but do be hour punidts lernin?
October 4th, 2007 at 8:53 pmSo I guess she didn’t vote illegally that one time?
Anyway, she lacks the mothering gene. Which is why she has zero compassion, and a cold heart.
Teeth whitening is only 300 bucks.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:53 pmSad for Ann. She’s getting old… no one’s wants her any more. Haven’t heard a peep out of her in months and now… she opens her mouth and nothing but maggots fall out.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:55 pmThe place to begin is this:
simply ignore Ann Coulter.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:55 pmUh, such a calm face…
October 4th, 2007 at 8:55 pmGood lord her neck looks like something I dug outta the turkeys cavity and boiled for giblets!
October 4th, 2007 at 8:55 pmMs. Coulter may be a provocateur but a political strategist she is not.
I don’t think she’s even a provocateur anymore, just a washed up, once was. clueless mouther of lies. She is so ‘yesterday’, I find her only boring.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:56 pmDear Mann Coulter,
As another woman, I say: You first.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:57 pmHa, ha! Coulter is not a woman; I am not a women — I get it now — can you deal with the merits of the proposal on the table?
Comment by Rory — October 4, 2007 @ 8:49 pm
Everyone already has, now they’re busy laughing at both of you for such a stupid and dishonest “proposal”.
October 4th, 2007 at 8:58 pmNot at all: single, white men (as long as they are landowners) could vote too.
Comment by Rory — October 4, 2007 @ 8:12 pm
Geez, Rory, how.. how… “18th Century” of you. Would “Negroes” go back to counting as 3/5th of a person, and of course, Indians as nothing?
Hmmm… as I recall, you claim to be a ‘female” **cough… cough**, you propse to willingly disenfranchise yourself?
On the other hand, being a ‘female” that would mean yer judgement is suspect right from the start and probably shouldn’t be taken seriously right from the start.
Oh… the… irony…
October 4th, 2007 at 8:59 pm“Can any of you dispute the statistical FACT that if we took away women’s right to vote, we’d never have another Democratic President elected?”
Tell Mrs Bill Gates she can’t vote. What do you think she’d do?
If women were suddenly denied the right to vote, we’d have a cultural/political meltdown. It would never last beyond a few months, as the men would be going nuts without sex – which they surely would have to. Tell some of the female heads of multi-billion-dollar dynasties they can’t vote – and watch the stock exchange collapse, as they pull their money out of stocks and bonds.
Tell Mrs Bill Gates she can’t vote. What do you think she’d do?
October 4th, 2007 at 9:02 pmSo, Rory, how’re you gonna get your voice heard? Are you gonna give guys blowjobs if they vote Republican for you? Or are you just gonna piss up a rope on a liberal website that uses you as target practice?
October 4th, 2007 at 9:02 pmChrist she looks like the angel of death!
October 4th, 2007 at 9:05 pmI would willingly disenfranchise myself if it means no more Democratic Presidents get elected. Also, I have no problem with the 13th and 14th Amendments.
Comment by Rory — October 4, 2007 @ 9:01 pm
I think it’s kind of amazing that you keep repeating an astonishingly stupid comment like this. It’s almost as if you were proud of it.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:05 pmIt seems like the majority of the Republican party consists of self-loathing closet homosexuals who strive tirelessly to keep everyone else in the closet with them. No wonder they had such a problem with Clinton having a consensual heterosexual relationship with an adult of the opposite sex.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:05 pm“I would willingly disenfranchise myself if it means no more Democratic Presidents get elected.”
If she voted for Bush, she’s already disenfranchised herself without knowing it.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:05 pm79
October 4th, 2007 at 9:05 pmF’n retarded
I agree with the earlier comment that there’s some serious self-loathing going on with Coulter. I think that is one of the defining characteristics of the “right”. They really are sanctimonious a-holes that prey on the ill-informed and feed their own fragile egos by trying to belittle or demonize everyone that doesn’t swallow the fascism.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:05 pmSorry, that was redundant.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:06 pmCoulter surely calculates that this will sell her some books. The progressive blogosphere should pound this hard without relent. If one of the right’s favorite mouthpieces advocates disenfranchising half the population, how can this work in their favor politically? This one’s gonna piss some of the GOP-tards right off.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:10 pmRemarkable: here comes Ann Coulter, comedian, purveyor of jokes, gags and amusing stories, spinning out a joke about eliminating women’s right to vote.
Everybody chortles, “Oh, that Ann! What a card!” Honestly, as so many right-wingers have pointed out, she’s making a joke. So we laugh (not as funny as Jon Stewart, but funnier than Bill Maher) a bit, and see what’s on Adult Swim.
But–wait? it’s Rory! And she’s taking her seriously! She really, actually wants the 19th Amendment repealed!
She’s agreeing with the joke?
A woman who spent 5 years in the Navy and is a cancer survivor to boot?
How can this be?
October 4th, 2007 at 9:12 pmRory, why don’t you just move to Saudi Arabia? They have a king and privileged class who will be happy to tell you how to live your life and you won’t be burdened with silly democratic ideals, like voting. Women are treated as second class citizens, just the way you like it. Sounds like your perfect society.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:13 pm“I agree with the earlier comment that there’s some serious self-loathing going on with Coulter.”
And when she projects her self-loathing, she gets rewarded for it, which only reinforces the negative, self-destructive behavior.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:13 pmI guess the matter is settled once and for all.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:15 pmAnn Coulter is a man.

October 4th, 2007 at 9:21 pmAnn Coulter, like Larry Craig, Tom Foley and Ted Haggard among numerous others too many to name here, is testimony to the fact that Conservatism is more pathology than ideology brought about as a result of repressed homo eroticism.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:21 pmWhat in the h*ll is Coultergeist doing on the air anyway?
If she practiced what she preaches, she would be known only to her husband, family, her church, and perhaps her sewing club. She would dutifully remain at home, literally barefoot and pregnant, waiting for “her man” to arrive home from work, with a beer, his slippers and the newspaper waiting for him in his easy chair while she finishes preparing a lavish dinner for her adoring family. She would at all times respect, without question, her husband’s supreme authority in the home, devoting her life to ascertaining his wishes and carrying them out as comprehensively and expeditiously as humanly possible. She would then apply her remaining time and energy to homeschooling her many children, to protect their impressionable little minds from contamination by the deplorable, despicable secularism that lurks without. This would include teaching any daughters to never, ever wear short, tight dresses, which could inflame the passions of at least some males, tempting them to commit mortal transgressions.
Only a viewing audience completely comfortable with obvious, rank hypocrisy could maintain their enthusiasm for her many treacheries, untroubled by the glaring contradictions she so blatantly projects.

Another few years under GOP rule and the above will be the US of A.
I really think the GOP’s hate of women, and maybe single women in particular, came about with the availability of The Pill (mid 60s – I remember a poster of Pope Paul I, with his finger pointing at me saying “The Pill is a No-No”). Women took control of their bodies, thereby freeing themselves from pregnancy after pregnancy. We had the ability to choose when we had a child. After that, came the cry for equality, and we’re still trying to achieve that in many areas. Women are a reckoning force in this country (not to mention women are the majority when compared to the number of men vs. the number of women) and the GOP just doesn’t want to hear it. They’d rather have us draped in burkas and available to their whims when we aren’t in the “dirty” tent.
I’m single, educated, not a soccer mom, make very good money, have health care for me and my three kids, and don’t vote GOP (and won’t vote Demurocrat if their current trend continues).
Ann Coulter is an insult to women, especially since she worked to hard to become one.

What republican will be the first to suggest bringing back slavery? Come on, the founders all owned slaves, too.

October 4th, 2007 at 9:37 pmThe more I think about this latest nugget of Coulter wisdom, the more clear it becomes why she said it. She throwing her boy Rush a life preserver to get the progressive machine off his case for the “phony soliders†comment. No doubt about it. Perhaps we should ignore her and redouble our efforts to make the Hillbilly heroin addict squirm.
Comment by Jay11 — October 4, 2007 @ 9:35 pm
I doubt she’s that selfless. This is just a way to get attention and sell a few more books to the wingnuts who can find their way to a bookstore.

Our economy would not survive another reckless unfiscal conservative nor would our military. Anyway [MA?] what, pray tell, has this administration accomplished?

Comment by Rory — October 4, 2007 @ 9:34 pm
You’d abandon your “kids” just because, what, you can’t stand the idea that a President might be capable of ending the deficit like Clinton? You’d rather have presidents that start unnecessary wars on a credit card?
Again with the bragging about how dumb you are.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:40 pmgummitch,
I dunno, Rush is the king of wingnuttia and he was feeling the heat. I think she’s taking a bullet for him, they are a team.
October 4th, 2007 at 9:40 pmJust to take the Coulter Argument seriously for a second:
October 4th, 2007 at 9:40 pmIt’s crap.
Women can vote, and the Democrats appeal to them better than the Republicans do.
So, if women somehow get denied the right to vote, The Democrats will continue to appeal to a non-voting constituency? They won’t adapt?
Utter Nonsense.
They’ll conduct campaigns just like Sam Tilden, James Garfield, and Woodrow Wilson did. And get elected (when the elections aren’t stolen).
And of course then they’ll campaign for giving women the right to vote.
Comment by gummitch — October 4, 2007
Yeh, this is about pushing her new book that will sit on walmart shelves unread, Rush is taking AWAY from her idiocy and I doubt shes trying to cover for manboob manchild, she even went so far as to call FOX unconservative.

October 4th, 2007 at 10:00 pmTRoS: All I can say is that the GOP is absolutely reaching a desperation stage in sending out these dimwits to the threads. Desperate men do desperate things. These nutcases do little to dispute the current hypothesis that the only people left in the GOP are perverts, pedophiles, liars, whores, and thieves.
October 4th, 2007 at 10:02 pmIt’s not gonna happen, so whatever.

October 4th, 2007 at 10:03 pmThanks Republic of Stupidity, for the suggestion. Flagged. I’ve been coming here for 4 or 5 years (sporadically), and I hope the new bells and whistles are effective.
October 4th, 2007 at 10:04 pmAnd of course Ann sneers at people voting ’stupidly’–and she illustrates that by woman voting for people who provide programs that will benefit them. How stupid! They should vote to remove the programs that help them, and have life become harder for them! they should vote for people who remove taxes for the rich! They should vote for people who run up massive deficits to fight wars! They should vote for people who vote for a missile defense system that doesn’t work and ignore terrorist threats! They should vote for people who, if they get pregnant, will force them to have that baby even as they’re making it harder to raise a child! They should vote for people who joke about taking their right to vote away!
October 4th, 2007 at 10:04 pmWhy?
Because voting in your own interest is STUPID!
You see, if we just let the rich people keep more and more of what they make, or get from their investments, or inherit from their parents, then they will start new companies, and increase our industrial base, and that will mean more and better jobs for everybody! (surely you can wait until those great new jobs come along!)
And by encouraging a policy of pre-emptive wars that last for decades and alienate our allies, we’ll show the world that we’re tough, and are ready to through thousands and thousands more children into the meatgrinder! (Even yours!)
Anything else would be STUPID!
Ho hum….another day slaying trolls. I don’t know about you Bushwipes but I’ve got better things to do right now…much better things to do. Sweet dreams TP buddies. Keep slaying the inane, brainless, piss-soaked troll(s). We know who he is anyway. He fails to fool anyone but himself. Toodles!

pgb,
When you consider how effective the modern “conservative” movement (post Nixon) has been in cultivating and fine-tuning their message machine, it’s breathtaking. A well-funded, systematic gutting of democracy that started with Reagan’s destruction of the Fairness Doctrine. Weakening our public education system, as Barbara Bush might say, is working quite well for them.

There’s that spelling thing again. That last word starts with a “w”.
October 4th, 2007 at 10:21 pmMaybe blacks shouldn’t vote either. Same with unemployed people, pro-choice folks, homosexuals & immigrants. That should really swing the balance for the Republicans. Maybe also have a means test… toss out all of those poor folks. No one over the age of 70 should be voting. Hey, just let registered Republicans vote. Aw forget it, the voting machines can sort this all out.
October 4th, 2007 at 10:25 pmThere is no denying that single households are the demographic trend in America, if we ignore illegal immigrant figures. The question should be – do we want this to be the trend?
Unquestionably, the Democratic Party wants it to be the trend, because they want to maintain their voter base. Being the party of victims, you would think that Democrats would want to abolish the causes of victimhood, but that runs counter to their desire to continue existing, so they push policies that create more victims.
Increasing mortgages from 20 year max to 30 year max forced many families to generate 2 incomes instead of 1, putting a strain on marriages, driving up divorce rates. Taking away tax benefits to being married also added to this strain, but Reps restored some / all of that.
If you want to see the ultimate affect of Democratic policies resulting in the destruction of the family, just visit any black community, which has the highest percentage of single households and single parent households in the country. Those communities have declining populations, due to the ultimate Democratic policy – thou shalt abort your fetus.
If you feel OK with how things are in the black community, then, by all means, celebrate the demographic slide towards the destruction of the family unit. I recognize all these things as harbengers of our society’s eventual displacement by stronger, male dominated, family centric cultures – Hispanic, Asian and Muslim.

Phuck off troll. This is my only response to you.
October 4th, 2007 at 10:27 pmFor some reason, the indispensable role of a rodeo clown comes to mind…
Coultergeist pulls off a two-fer: 1) She can may sell a few more books before the rest are moved to the 99 cent bargain rack. A few of the trolls on this site are probably ordering copies for their friend (aka their mother, if they are lucky), family, enemies and their dog (if it hasn’t already succeeded in escaping). 2) And, as a bonus, she takes some of the heat off her soul mate, Rush Limpballs.
We also frequently witness a striking parallel on this site. The trolls (the corollary for rodeo clowns) who distract the angered, who then (if the job has been performed correctly) redirect their animosity toward the troll/clown. Wouldn’t be surprised if some Reich Wing organizations pay them a small pittance (probably piece rate) for every message which is then directed toward them rather than about the original topic.
Please keep this in mind. Any time you respond to a troll, you are probably stuffing a little more dinero into their grubby little booger-encrusted pockets.
October 4th, 2007 at 10:27 pmShe says outragous shit to see what kind of a rise she can get out of people. As proven on this page she is quite effective.

October 4th, 2007 at 10:46 pm‘women are voting so stupidly, at least single women.’
Translation most single women are planning on voting for Hillary Clinton. Dear Ann has been a rabid Clinton hater since the ’90’s when she tried to convince Paula Jones to file charges against Bill while he was a sitting president. She’s part of the right-wing conspiracy that Hillary was always referring to.
Someone muzzle this frothing pitbull!

October 4th, 2007 at 11:03 pmjust curious, trying to be civil.
October 4th, 2007 at 11:04 pmSo that’s why Ann did that voter fraud stuff in the last election: she doesn’t think she should be able to vote but had not figured out that all she had to do was stay home. Way to go, Waaaannnie.
October 4th, 2007 at 11:09 pm“Ann” is obviously jealous of real womens’ plumbing; after all, they came that way and didn’t need expensive surgery.

I think jay’s nailed it. Coulter’s braying is meant to take the heat off Limbaugh, after his smears against soldiers who oppose Bush’s Iraq fiasco.
October 4th, 2007 at 11:19 pmThese people who claim the reason we are destroying our country by the war in the Middle East, is to bring them democracy —do not even want democracy in the USA. They think anyone who does not agree with them should not have the right to vote.
It was Americans left of center throughout our history who fought conservatives to get everyone the right to vote. Now the conservatives are disenfranchising people with caging lists and secret electronic machines.
It wasn’t long ago in Mississippi, you would be killed if you tried to help Blacks register to vote.
BTW, the picture at the top looks like a sick giraffe. Anorexia is a psychological disorder.
October 4th, 2007 at 11:20 pmAlien Ann trades on ridiculous statements and looking sexy. I know that sane people do not see the sexy part. But to idiot wingers it seems that aliens are very sexy.
Fortunately age is catching up and the attempts at sexy are looking more and more sad. So Ann is ratcheting up the bizarro commentary.
Ann, when you bank on selling from the pelvis you are over the hill pretty fast.

October 4th, 2007 at 11:22 pmI don’t think Tran wants to help Rush. I think she cannot stand the attention leaving her. And she wants more money from appearances and books.

October 4th, 2007 at 11:29 pmWhat exactly would the US be like today if we had Republican rule from 1981 to now? We would be a failed state that the IMF had to take over. October 4th, 2007 at 11:54 pmwe could very well believe that conservatives want the elections decided by married white men.
Let’s hope that’s not true.
You’re kidding, right? Of course they do! They loves them some macho men- the kind that are never gay, the kind that don’t hit their women too much and know how to follow orders from Rush.
October 4th, 2007 at 11:55 pmRepublicans have destroyed wages for the average American. This destroys marriages. They want the man to work and the wife to stay at home and take care of the two and one-half children. This is quite an impossibility when wages are $5.15 per hour! This causes the man to leave, resulting in the single female supporting the family. Then they blame the liberals for the single female head of household.
October 5th, 2007 at 12:04 am255 … Rory, robroy, and John Kerry all work fine …
But then something screwy happens at post 255 and the troll has some trouble logging in to whatever sockpuppet ID it’s trying to assume…
It scrawls a little gibberish in frustration figuring that the account will continue not to work, only this time the post gets through. It hasn’t posted since.
In other words, that nonsense @ 255 was not intended to be read, as opposed to the never-freakin-ending nonsense that it spews here day in and day out.
Does it even need to be said that the laughable “mother laying down her life” routine was utterly transparent?
The professional trolling of the comments here is, quite frankly, serving their purpose remarkably well. The noise drowns out the issue every time.
October 5th, 2007 at 12:07 amI love that the republican answer to losing elections is to make them less democratic. If you can’t get elected in America, maybe you shouldn’t be elected. I’m just not sure she understands how this whole democracy thing works.

October 5th, 2007 at 12:45 amI favor following Coulter’s advice, for HER and for HER ALONE. Her right to vote should be rescinded because she falsified her registration papers, and because she is clearly insane.
I feel the proper response to the crazed ideas of folks like Limbaugh (who thought drug addicts should be thrown in jail) and Coulter, is to give them what the are whining for, but apply it to them alone.
So, throw Rush in jail and take away Coulter’s voting rights! (sarcasm off)
October 5th, 2007 at 12:55 amAnn Coulter says something colossally stupid. Again. Yawn.
October 5th, 2007 at 12:59 amI have no idea who Boortz is Big (O) and YOU should be worried about what Ann says because the louder a radical rightie like heshe crys the more you can be sure its the more intolerant and fixed the ideology the more likely is it that they are what they rail against. Ann lashes out at people calling them Fags, Edwards wasnt the first…guess why?
Rush Limbaugh railed against drug users..and is on. Larry Craig railed for the dont ask dont tell policy…you know why.

It was wrong of the NYT to hide the illegal wiretapping for 2 years.
Didn’t Coulter think it funny to say terrorists should fly planes into the NYT?
October 5th, 2007 at 1:57 amWhen I worked in the grocery industy we had an acronym that is apropos here: PPF–past peak freshness. In this case, WAY past PPF. Means STALE. You (except Michael and Glory Hole) understand.

Emotions like fear? Fear of foreigners who are statistically as likely to end our lives as lightning is?
Rake, by your logic, I guess think letting those crazy wild eyed negroes vote was a mistake too, huh? I think they vote liberal in alot greater percentages then women do actually. And women negroes? lordy… letting them vote is a double doody mistake, right Rake?
October 5th, 2007 at 3:13 amWhat a pathetic show the conservative shills have been putting on lately. Limpballs and the phony soldiers and now man coulter utters very possibly the dumbest, most backwards ass statement possible. Ship the crypt keeper over to southern Afghanistan and let the Taliban beat her ass for awhile. The only thing more disgusting than her comment is the sorry ass loser trolls that are somehow trying to defend what she said. If some conservative asshat like hannity or rush said we should all eat our children, some republican trolls would be like “Yes, what an exellent idea! We must eat our children at once.” Conservatives are hell-bent on driving this country into the drink. YOU ARE OUTNUMBERED MORONS! YOU ARE THE FRINGE LUNATICS! Go and set up your own backwards religious theocracy on a scrub piece of land somewhere and we’ll see how long you last before devouring each other. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrr!!!!!!!!!

October 5th, 2007 at 6:37 amConsidering Coulter essentially a “flasher” seems right on – desperate to “be seen”, gleeful at an offended reaction. She, compulsively, to gain the limelight, finds again and again another appendage of her obscene soul to flash us with. We, the “victims”, I guess.
October 5th, 2007 at 7:06 amLooking at her picture, I’m wondering why the hell we’re in Iraq. We could satisfy our power needs for a year just by harvesting her face oil.

October 5th, 2007 at 7:49 amCan we have just one week without this THING’s face showing up on the site? Funny how this creature always says American women will be in Burqas if the liberals get their way–Kinda sounds pretty close to what she’s advocating here.

Comment by Nonexistant Iranian Homo — October 5, 2007
Coulter doesn’t make me mad at all, she makes me laugh at people who believe her schtick, and the reason she writes such angry spiteful rants is the same reason as most republicans, the more she rants about what she/he hates the more she/he exposes herself for what she/he really is.
Another sexually repressed self-hater.
Push my buttons, lmao.
October 5th, 2007 at 9:10 am“It also makes the point, it is kind of embarrassing, the Democratic Party ought to be hanging its head in shame, that it has so much difficulty getting men to vote for it.”
Gee Ann — and the Republican Party doesn’t need to hang its head in shame because it has so much difficulty getting women to vote for it? How do you rationalize this double standard?
By the way — I notice you said “DemocratIC Party”, which means you don’t subscribe to the bizarre Rush Limbaugh strategy of “let’s insult the libs by using bad grammar.” It shows you have a little bit of gray matter. Too bad it’s not enough for you to see how absurd your little fantasy is.

I guess humor is in the mind of the beholder. I don’t find her bigotry, vitriol, straw man arguments, pleas for attention, and just general blather very funny. If you wish to buy her books, go ahead. I’d just as soon spend my money elsewhere.

October 5th, 2007 at 10:13 amBigO, this is off topic but the thread on the skinny skank is dead anyway. Do you have any discretionary money you would like to wager on next year’s election? I will give you two to one odds that the Democrats have the Presidency and both houses after the election.
You’re in NM, I’m in AZ and travel on business to ABQ at least once a month.
What do you think big guy?
I am betting that the American public is totally fed up with the hypocrisy, the flat out lies and secrecy from Bush and his bunch. The one gift that loser has given us is the demise of your party. It was too expensive, a lot of lives and blood and money, but any silver lining is good.
October 5th, 2007 at 10:52 amSo, Bigpoot, now that Domentia is out of it, who are you going to go with for Senator?

MAN! LOOK AT THAT ADAM’S APPLE!
October 5th, 2007 at 10:54 amOk, here’s a NM joke to test your humor quotient BigO.
One day Big O came home from a long day of changing tires and his wife met him at the door. “You have to have a word with Johnny O, he’s only in seventh grade and he had sex with his teacher today!â€
BigO is conflicted. Having sex with your teacher in seventh grade is not a good thing, but at the same time he had to admire the kid.
He knocks on Johnny O’s door and has a heart to heart with him. Tells him how he is too young to handle such things, wait for marriage…the whole litany. Then he says, “But son, I am proud of you for getting what you want. Let’s go down to WalMart and buy that bike you’ve been wanting.â€
“Not today Dad, my butt’s still a little soreâ€
October 5th, 2007 at 11:03 amExcuse me, but this isn’t the first time she has suggested that women should not have the right to vote… only her most recent repeat of the suggestion.

I wouldn’t exactly call US troops being investigated for killing Iraqi civillians, guns going missing, ramphant corruption, Syria closing its border to Iraqi refugees, and the whole Blackwater scandal good news coming out of Iraq.
But then, you are a Republican so you might just have a different concept of “Good” to me.
October 5th, 2007 at 11:38 amakristler
Sorry but your side had unprecedented, nearly unlimited power from the start of 2001, to the end of 2006. All three houses, the supreme court, everything.
Net result – America’s human rights record being flushed down the toilet, K Street, New Orleans wrecked, the Two Towers gone, America hitting its third highest inflation adjusted deficit in its history – and that is without even countring Iraq, America’s debt doubling and the worst recovery since the Great Depression.
The Democrats, have had about 9 months.
They have achieved nothing an rolled over on their mandate issues (Why I say vote independent) but at least they haven’t been actively harmful.
The “They are both at fault” argument just doesn’t wash anymore.

“I didn’t bring it up first; I was simply refuting the claim by BARTLEBEE that “the right wing neocons and the KKK are one and the same.—
I love that you guys all want to bring up the fact that Byrd was in the KKK in 1949. By a margin of about 99-1, the vocal racists I have met in the last 20 years have made it clear that they hate liberals.
But for you that is trumped by the fact that a white male in West Virginia in 1949 became a member of a group that probably included his father, his minister, the town mayor, and tons of other role models. Somehow, the fact that one guy in the Dem party joined such a group (even though he later quit) is proof that 60 years later, the political party he belongs to shares the beliefs and values of every racist out there today.
If you have any black friends, ask them what they are more bothered by, guys in the 1930’s and 40’s in the south who were racists or guys today who are racists. It was cultural back then, and many folks grew up with everybody in their life telling them it was OK to discriminate. Anyone born after 1970 knew it wasn’t OK. Most blacks I know give a generational pass to older folks brought up in a different culture, but have no tolerance for the current crop of racists, who, again, in my experience are overwhelmingly republicans. Note I didn’t say most republicans are racists, I said most racists are republicans.
Go to a Klan meeting and accuse them of being liberal and see what happens.
October 5th, 2007 at 11:55 amThus spoke Ann “American Taliban” Coulter.
What’s next stoning anyone who is a democrat????
What a wacko.
October 5th, 2007 at 11:58 amWell Bruce I can tell you a dyed in the wool Democrat, always looking to bash somebody else. Frankly I wish I could wash my hands of people who always look to the bad side of everything, I am not blind I see fault all around me. But voting independant will not gain anything except electing a democrat. History shows that whenever we have an independant in the voting, then everything gets mucked up. Just my two cents, and I am outa of here seeing as my words fall on bricked and deaf ears. Gotta love what we have become, a shadow of what this great nation was all due to sue you, sue me, sue everybody – make me sick – but I love this country and everything it stands for just tired of the constant bickering.
October 5th, 2007 at 12:01 pmExcuse me, but this isn’t the first time she has suggested that women should not have the right to vote… only her most recent repeat of the suggestion.
I never thought I’d see the day that a woman would be advocating removing women’s right to vote. Un–f’ing–believable.
She would take a our counrty and society backwards.
And that anyone would still be listening to her after that is amazing to me. And sad. Very sad.
Unbelievable….
October 5th, 2007 at 12:04 pmWould that be no vote for all women or just Demorat progressive women? Because isn’t she trying to be a female?
But she was able to get an old FBI boyfriend (?) to clear up the illegal registration to vote back in Florida. She/He must have something.

The dark side of everything? Has there been a light side to the Republican’s six years?
I look at Clinton, a president who I didn’t always agree with, I see a record surplus, progress made on peace in the Middle East, and America’s first plans on dealing with terrorism.
I look at Bush Snr, I see America defending its allies against a foreign agressor.
I look at Reagan, I see the fall of Communism, and peace throughout his reign.
I look at Carter, I see a president who saved America from 3-mile Island melting down.
I look at Ford, I see the founding of the G7.
I look at Nixon I see the end of Vietnam.
I look at LBJ, I see desegregation.
I look at JFK, I see the Cuban Missile Crisis.
I look throughout America’s history and I don’t see a single president or administration, not even Hoover (Remembered for the Great Depression) with such an unmitigated series of failures as GW Bush and the six years of pure Republican rule.
And I look at guys like you trying to duck responsibility for your party with a waffling claim that “Well both parties are at fault.” Party of personal responsibility my ass, you guys wouldn’t know personal responsibility if it wacked you in the nuts.
October 5th, 2007 at 12:27 pmOpen letter to Ann Coulter: By all means feel free to NOT vote in any further elections and please write a book advocating that all Republican women join you in this mighty cause.
October 5th, 2007 at 12:36 pmMichael
Bullshit Michael. Your Republicans were running around whining about Bill being too tough on terrorism way back in 1998, if I remember correctly you accused him of “Wagging the dog.”
And progress? Progress which Bush sabotaged with a policy of “We don’t talk to the enemy.” You don’t talk to the enemy, the enemy feels there is no point in trying and just attacks you.
Meanwhile, Day of Terror – stopped cold. The first WTC bombers? All caught. Without war, and with the world liking America.
And look at Bush’s achievement on terror: Your allies now hate you, Britain is no longer willing to use troops to support your wars, you are engaged in two major wars, and terrorism, on a global level has gone up.
October 5th, 2007 at 12:48 pmTampachessdon
Ann Coulter’s style isn’t sarcasm, its to say what her followers think of as being “True.”
It is why one must take what she says as being deadly serious, because while those Republicans are laughing, they are nodding at what a grand idea it would be.
October 5th, 2007 at 12:58 pmMichael
Weak kneed liberals? You guys are too frigging afraid of your own shadows to stand up for civil liberties like the right to privacy. You cowards decided to exchange those rights for some false assumption of being “safe.”
And while Clinton got his famous Blowjob, which nobody in their right minds gave a shit about anyway, America prospered. While Bush took more vacation time then any American president before him, America suffered the worst run of disasters in its history.
And when there is an “Arab uprising?” Who will America’s allies run to? Themselves, and they will solve it themselves because, if there is ever such an uprising, America, with its forces overextended in the Middle East, with its bank accounts so deeply into the red with the same country that is currently selling you toys dipped in lead, that America? Will be in no position to help anybody.
Your President’s best ally right now is John Howard of Australia. Australia had to virtually declare martial law, in order to host your president. Ever hear anything similar about Clinton?

Oh, wait, you love the war of ocupation for oil, and refuse to question anything that Pres. Bush does, no matter how egregious.
My pardon! You’re one of the “anointed”, because you support the war, but cannot fight in it.

Rush knows he screwed the pooch, and the pooch is yelping from the reaming. Not much, though. Rush ran out of his Viagra (with his doctors name on the bottle) so he wasn’t able to “stick it out” for long.
October 5th, 2007 at 1:40 pmWell, gotta go! Work is getting busy again, and the bills don’t pay themselves!
By the way, Michael, I do respect you for doing something that the majority of Americans refue to do: join the military. I may hate your opinion, but you have a right to be as wrong as you want to be! ;-)
All kidding aside, it took guts for you to join and serve.
October 5th, 2007 at 1:43 pmDemocrat Soldier
Remember Shakey Jake? Remember MA? Are you telling me you believe Michael?
October 5th, 2007 at 1:57 pmOh, and Michael, look what your values got you. K Frigging Street – a poor Republican bribery scandal, that whole nice list of scandals Democrat Soldier pointed out to you and, to top it all, one of the most disasterous presidencies in American history.
Nothing good has come of you bastards supporting GW Bush, in fact your only defence of him whenever he does anything wrong is to point out one of his biggest screw-ups – 9/11. It ain’t something you should be proud of.
October 5th, 2007 at 2:02 pmLet me guess, this was somehow taken out of context.
She’s got some serious mental issues. It would be nice if we could make her take a psych evaluation to see just what the fu#$ is wrong with her.
My guess is that she was abused by someone, and she now lashes out by scapegoating instead of dealing with her issues.
Or maybe she’s a dry-drunk like Bush?
October 5th, 2007 at 2:26 pmChrist she looks like death warmed over, don’t the Republic666ans feed their trolls?
October 5th, 2007 at 2:32 pm1. She’s terrifying looking. I thought that being rich meant you could buy beauty. Maybe I was wrong haha. 2. She shouldn’t have a vote in it, because she IS a women (by her own standards, mind you.) 3. She should be shot. The world would be better off without her.
October 5th, 2007 at 3:04 pmObviously, Ann really hasn’t thought this all the way through (as if it ever does). If Ann really wants to revoke women’s right to vote, then women should also be prohibited from having ANYTHING to do with politics–including spouting a neocon, RepubliCON opinion in the public forum. (Ann might also want to consider just how many women voted FOR the Bush/Cheney criminals in the last two elections. If Ann wants to remove THOSE women’s right to vote, I’m all for it.)
October 5th, 2007 at 3:42 pmOf course, Ann could always move to a country which already prohibits women from voting (like Saudi Arabia) and see how far it gets with its own career as a pundit.
Ann’s dropped below the level of moron. (Thankfully, it would take a Constitutional Amendment to remove a woman’s right to vote.)
Our country prospered exceptionally well when women were not allowed to vote and since things are going incrdibly bad in the last 50 years(inappropriate content in the media, escalating murders and criminal activity, etc.) it is worth consideration.
October 5th, 2007 at 3:47 pmWhile I’m not sure I would agree with Ms. Gardner’s numbers or facts, depending on who you think should be the recipient of the compensation one earns for engaging in a particular endeavor, I think she is making Ms. Coulter’s point. If, as Ms. Gardner says, an office seeker ignores 50 million voters “at their peril,†and these 50 million voters consist of mostly those who are “more likely not to have health care, are economically stressed, and are solely responsible for their child’s care,†is she not implying that these 50 million voters will help elect a politician who, as Ms. Coulter says, “will pay for health care and tuition and day care — and here, what else can we give you, soccer moms?â€
The argument is not really about one’s personal tastes in another’s appearance and I imagine that no one really cares about that. If you think that a person doesn’t have the right to keep what they have earned and their earnings should be forcefully taken from them at the threat of incarceration or at the point of a gun and doled out to those who have contributed nothing to society except the animalistic rutting ability to spread one’s legs and punch out little innocent babies, at the very least you should stand up for what you believe and just say so. There is nothing “bad†about being either right or left wing; the “bad†comes into play when you can’t admit (or you’re secretly ashamed) of what you believe.
October 5th, 2007 at 3:54 pmHere’s another cool idea. The Coultergeist might like it since she’s got to be all for law and order, yeah?
So what group in society commits the vast bulk of criminal offenses, including murder? What group swells the prison cells?
Men.
Therefore let’s have a tax on men to offset the damage they do to society. Make every man pay, say, $100/year for the privilege of being a man. Then use that money to build more jails.
Ann, please feel free to steal this idea.
October 5th, 2007 at 4:10 pmAnn like Rush is taking refuge in Florida to stay one step ahead of the law.
October 5th, 2007 at 8:02 pmIf Ann is talking about woman not voting, she in her paranoid fashion is speaking of herself. Considering she should be incarcerated for voting in the wrong district when she was
registered in another.
Being implanted Floridian for reasons beyond the sun, she is making
herself a comfortable law breaking citizen. SHe should be banned
from voting for life while the rest of the woman should not only vote but include one more vote for Ann Coulters representation.
George Carlin has it right, these people are anti-women and even a comedy show like American Dad made this point very well.
October 5th, 2007 at 8:59 pmThere’s actually a movement to see that President Bush refuses to step down from power in January 2009. Our hope is that he declares a national emergency due to the war on terror, and declares himself President indefinitely. Of course, we’d probably have to lock up or execute a few million Democrats, but that would be the price we’d have to pay to ensure our freedoms from terrorists.
