U.S. confiscates the AP’s Iraq bombing footage.
At least three people were killed yesterday when the diplomatic convoy carrying Poland’s ambassador to Iraq was ambushed by bombs and gunfire “in one of Baghdad’s most secure neighborhoods.” The ambassador survived after “being pulled to safety and airlifted in a rescue mission by the embattled security firm Blackwater USA.” An AP Television News caught the chaotic aftermath on camera, but the footage has been confiscated by American authorities:
American authorities confiscated an AP Television News videotape that contained scenes of the wounded being evacuated. U.S. military spokesman Lt. Col. Scott Bleichwehl told AP that Iraqi law make it illegal to photograph or videotape the aftermath of bombings or other attacks.

Blackwater is in charge o protecting State Department officials. So, when said State Department officials are over run and are in trouble, it is because Blackwater was doing a pi$$ poor job of protecting those officials.
So, the Blackwater mercenaries weren't rescuing the US Military, it was rescuing other Blackwater mercenaries who were fu*k ups.

My bet is that the film was confiscated because it caught Blackwater doing something that the US didn't want to be made public.

I know Blackwater is in charge of protecting US diplomats and other State dept stooges, do we know that they're in charge of protecting foreign diplomats as well? I read the E&P story but maybe I missed that part. Whoever was in charge of security screwed up. It sounds like they were taking a predictable route at a predictable time. Even I, a long-haired, overweight garden gnome, knows better than that.
It's odd that this scenario happens two days after Prince testifyed about how many succesfull missions blackwater has completed (16000) or something like that.

It's funny how Iraqi law is respected when it's used as an excuse to confiscate video of Blackwater, but when it comes to wanting to revoke Blackwater's license, Iraqi law suddenly becomes meaningless.

In some countries, its dd/mm/yy. In the US it's mm/dd/yy.
