Number of people the U.S. military is holding in its prisons in Iraq, according to Gen. Douglas Stone. Youth detention facility adds to Iraqis’ misery.
“As if it’s not enough that the Iraqis lost their homes, family members, jobs and in general their lives, the U.S. is now creating a new dilemma; an Iraqi youth detention facility. The children jailed there are aged between 11 and 17 years old and are detained over allegations ranging from theft to murder.
Those imprisoned are said to be mostly Sunnis. Ali Mohammed is a teenager among thousands of detainees kept in an overcrowded prison in Western Baghdad who has no idea what his crime is. “They told me they would only question me for five minutes and I have been here since the 25th of April,” Mohammed told Reuters. “I suffer from epilepsy, a weak spine and a speech defect”, he added, expressing his surprise that he is considered a security threat.”

The Monsterous Government in violation of the Constitution he helped create is more insidious than the idiot puppet will ever be.
I do not trust that Government even in the hands of Hillary Clinton.
That is what truely scares me, that the crooks in Congress will let all these transgressions slide and keep the powers they grabbed in place.
Then sooner or later, we will get a president with a dictator’s wet dreams, then the Constitutrion is really toast.

How many did Sadam have in his prisons? Less than GW666 I would gather.

October 11th, 2007 at 2:08 amWhen I was reading about all the torture going on at Abu Ghraib and the other prisons at the time, the Pentagon said 90% were later released because they could not be found guilty of anything. Many had been arrested just because a rival clan wanted them arrested—sometimes for the reward. Some had just been rounded up in “sweeps”, without any crime being committed.
October 11th, 2007 at 3:06 amActually, the number of Americans in US prisons in US prisons is 2 million, a rate of 1 person in every 151, highest in the world. In Iraq, our incarceration rate is only 1 in 1000. Of course, that does not count the Iraq government figures. I guess the strategy is let them kill themselves, kill some of them ourselves, drive them out of their homes, and arrest those that are still left. After a while the violence is bound to go down.

October 11th, 2007 at 7:35 amBefore the war, Bush and Company lied that it wasn’t about regime change, but as President, during the early stages of our Iraq ‘adventure’, he AUTHORIZED the bombing of two restaurants hoping to kill Saddam while willing to kill dozens, perhaps hundreds as “collateral breakage” just in order to try to sate his appetite for Saddam’s blood. After such un-Christian, inhuman actions, nothing which follows should surprise or shock anyone including the detention of huge numbers of children. The Congress of the United States, the American media, the coalition of the semi-willing, the UK, etc., and all of us who don’t speak up share in this carnage and dishonor.
