It’s hard to understand why they ignored the warnings and “let” it happen unless you think they wanted something to happen that would give them the excuses to expand the executive.

Comment by Candyce — October 11, 2007 @ 10:59 am

Well, after much thought, I think that's exactly what happened re: 9/11. Not only did it open the door for an expanded executive, it pretty much guaranteed Bush a second term to give him enough time to screw everything up. Other than tax cuts, I don't think he'd have had any major accomplishments under his belt that would have convinced America that he deserved 4 more years.

Harry Reid made millionaries very happy . Thet get to to keep their billions or millions . Reid was supposed to pass legislation to make the equity fund managers pay more taxes . Right now I make $40, 0000 a year taxed at about 27% to 35% . Equity fund managers make $8,000,000 a year and pay 15% in taxes .He promised to change that , but that was before the lobbyist converged on capital hill and gave Mr. (sell out ) Reid campagin
money and pressured him to turn a blind eye to the fact that regular americas' pay more 27%-35% in taxes then corporationswho now pay 16% (who use to pay 35%of all taxes but that was before Bush corprate welfare. ) Mr Reid took their money and told them dont worry that bill wont see daylight in 2007/2008. I have a problem with this . I called and told his DC office all this and the guy told me start a petition .
So lets see campagin donations from lobbyist for thousands or millions of $$$ versus my petition .

You Decide !!!!!!!!

"when Bush was looking for a Veep he went to Cheney for advice on a candidate, and lo and behold, Cheney chose himself."
 Comment by Candyce

Firstly, why was Cheney consulted over the choice of a VP, if he wasn't somehow in charge of matters, or at least the representative of those who were?

Secondly, I believe Cheney saw what a bumbling buffoon Bush is, and decided he needed to be close at hand.

missmolly - I consistently reject the conspiratorial aspect of the story, but sometimes it's just damned hard. I know rationally that coincidences occur. Sometimes there are just so many coincidences here, I have to fight with myself. The latest is what we learned about Cheney this week, wherein:

Cheney was looking for a moment to “seize” power in the weeks before 9/11:

We are going to expand presidential power in any way we can. This was discussed in January 2001 at the first meeting of the White House legal team after the inauguration, long before 9/11. If an opportunity arises to expand presidential prerogatives, you will seize it.

Rather than believe that the administration was pro-active in 9-11, I believe they were inactive, waiting for that opportunity. It's hard to understand why they ignored the warnings and "let" it happen unless you think they wanted something to happen that would give them the excuses to expand the executive. And that's what I believe. I think 9-11 was bigger than anything they hoped for, but they were happy to exploit it for Cheney's 30-yr-old plan to elevate the executive. Remember, when Bush was looking for a Veep he went to Cheney for advice on a candidate, and lo and behold, Cheney chose himself. he positioned himself nicely to take advantage of whatever opportunities might come along.

This is why logical people who have been keeping track of the criminal activities of this administration realize that staging or abetting others (hired mercenaries??? Seems to be the MO of this administration so why discount that possibility?)…..to launch the worst attack on american soil to begin the coup on our democracy? After all, PNAC - along with Bush 41, Cheney, & Rummy have had this in the works for decades.

Comment by Veritas — October 11, 2007 @ 10:13 am

Veritas, the very idea that any of our leaders could have been responsible for the carnage on 9/11 is such an awful scenario that I admit I have resisted allowing myself to think that such a horrible thing would be possible.

But you must admit, whether the Bushney machine had anything to do with it or not -- it was very convenient, wasn't it? Even more convenient was Giuliani ordering all the debris hauled away and destroyed before any investigation could be done into the possibility of the scenario being anything other than what it appeared.

9/11 catapulted Bush's favorability ratings into the stratosphere, it allowed for a compliant Congress to pretty much give Bush a blank check to do anything he wanted (like invade Iraq), and gave the neocons a mechanism to keep Americans in a state of fear. A perfect fit for the neocon vision. A little TOO perfect. No wonder some people smell something rotten here.

Hmmmm. So the math tells me that dittoheads never learn? Or that they can’t read a simple transcript? Or perhaps that they get all their “information” from Rush?

Huh. Good point.

Millions of people can and often have been wrong. Having a large audience for your personal views does not automatically validate the comments being made. It might make you feel personally validated to have such a well-known figure agree with you, but that doesn't mean either one of you is right. Rush Limbaugh has a well-documented history of getting the facts wrong, and this dates back to well before Media Matters came along.

Was Rush right when he went on the air to annouce that Vine Foster had been murdered in an apartment owned by Hillary Clinton? No. Does the fact that he had millions of people listening to him tell that lie make it any more true? No.

Dems, acting sanctimonious about the victims they exploit by wheeling them out in front of cameras to do their fighting for them. Knowing that they personally no longer hold the clout to carry an issue themselves, Dems dupe innocents into taking the hits.

Cindy Sheehan's life is ruined, having been used by the radical left to push an anti-war agenda, which the Dem Congress and Prez candidates have abandoned, leaving her without a cause and her husband - nice job guys.

Veritas,

I think you give them too much credit. Look at the sheer incompetency of this cabal. OBL had had his eye on the towers for a long time, it just took the incompetent and lazy ass Bush to take his eye off the ball long enough to get it done. The plan itself wasn't even that difficult.

The right wing freaks did a great job of exploiting the disaster after it had happened though. They used the cover of 9/11 to jam their plans up America's ass. Bush's War never had anything to do with 9/11.

But if you are right about the martial law, "they have the guns but we have the numbers."

And some of us have a few guns too.

And some of us have a few guns too.

g'morning... i'm late... and won't be around much today...
i posted the following on tuesday and didn't get a reply...
was hoping the FAST thread would help out...
i'd like to know the specifics... anyone?...

somebody help me out here, please…
listening to thom hartmann rebroadcast on XM…

he just told a story about sen. kennedy’s email being hacked into,
by some guy who worked for another senator - I MISSED THE NAME…

the dems were confounded by the way the repugs seemed to be a step ahead whenever they tried to put legislation out… then the dems figured out that kennedy’s email was being read by this guy… WHO?

evidently this guy quit, but there was no action taken…
apologies and move on… this was some years ago…

Have you noticed that EVERY SINGLE NON-US CITIZEN posting here -that is, a foreigner- has never been in agreement with rightwingers?
That no foreginer classifies as a troll? That no foreigner agrees with Bush policies?

Have you noticed that most of the trolls here have never abandoned the US?

mmm...it is a blessing NOT to have Fox News and all that cheap propaganda grinding your mind all the time.

Afghanistan has been the forgotten battle but is a much more critical theater. I hope the Pentagon can see the wisdom of what the Marines are requesting.

That old Rush Limbaugh smear by Media Matters was shown to be poppycock days ago.
Comment by O. Bigfoot — October 11, 2007 @ 10:04 am

Got proof of that?
Because Rush has just been digging his hole deeper.
Smearing a 12 year old boy set new lows for even Lush.

We may discover that the genesis of the dot-connecting is not the attack on Iraq but the pivotal point and intersection of everything criminal goes back to 911.

Nanlichi - I'd love to have your optimism about martial law but can you really put anything past this overreaching group of gangsters? This is what is giving the 911 truth movement more traction - we, as americans, have been brainwashed to believe that our government is looking out for our best interests. With this crime cabal, nothing could be further from the truth.

This is why logical people who have been keeping track of the criminal activities of this administration realize that staging or abetting others (hired mercenaries??? Seems to be the MO of this administration so why discount that possibility?).....to launch the worst attack on american soil to begin the coup on our democracy? After all, PNAC - along with Bush 41, Cheney, & Rummy have had this in the works for decades.
