In an interview with President Bush yesterday, CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo asked the President what he thought of Tuesday’s Republican presidential debate:
BARTIROMO: Did you see the Republican candidate debate? What did you think? Who came out a winner?
BUSH: Were you there?
BARTIROMO: Yes, I was. I was the co-host.
BUSH: You were trying to hoax me into saying you had brilliant questions.
BARTIROMO: No, that’s not what I’m looking for Mr. President.
BUSH: I didn’t watch. I didn’t watch.
Watch it:
The GOP candidates also ignored the President that night. Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Fred Thompson, Mike Huckabee, and Duncan Hunter never uttered Bush’s name during the two-hour debate.

October 12th, 2007 at 1:14 pmWhat a moron Bush is! Bartiromo wasn’t fishing for a compliment — she wasn’t directing any attention to the questions she asked, whether they were brilliant or not. She asked Bush’s opinion of the candidates’ performances, and asking a Republican president what he thinks about the debate performance of Republican presidential candidates is a perfectly legitimate interview question.
Sadly, nobody needs to “hoax” the president or play “gotcha” with him, because he does such a great job of looking like an idiot all on his own.
October 12th, 2007 at 1:15 pm#16. When someone is admitted to graduate school like Yale, as long as they stay in, they pass, e.g., condi rice. A “C” in graduate school is an “F.” I would be very surprised in learning that dinkeldorf’s grad school gpa was more than a 2.0.
Also, in those days they didn’t check IDs at the SATs. Someone in my high school class took them for a basketball player.
October 12th, 2007 at 1:15 pmThis is just ANOTHER sign of how out of touch Bush is!!!! He does not even know what’s going on with the candidates of his own party.

Then what does that IQ say about Kerry’s? Bush at least graduated with an Harvard MBA, Kerry flunked out. And don’t tell me he bought it – it was from a school that has seen the rich and powerful for years. Bush would have been just another and the school would not be impressed with just another kid with family influence and money.
And another thing I don’t get is this:
“Bush is a f***ing idiot”, “Bush is dumber than a pencil”, and yet he is also seen by the same people as being capable of pulling off political conspiracies that require a superior intellect to pull off. Oh, wait, he is so dumb that he has to hire the smartest evil people in the world to tell him what to do. Yet he is smart enough to know who those people are. C’mon you can’t have it both ways. Either Bush is smarter than you give him credit for, or you are more gullible than you realize.

October 12th, 2007 at 2:01 pmOkay, all of you who responded, justifying your outrage at something so stupid by saying “it proves that he’s out of touch”, etc. Go out and ask anyone who hosted the debate. NO ONE WATCHED IT. No one ever watches MSNBC, it’s completely irrelevant, which is why a lot of people wondered why these guys even wasted their time. I mean the Dems have a reason to go and fight for the base, which makes up MSNBC’s entier audience.
Anyway, the point is, Bush has a country to run (quick say some bs about Katrina and Iraq, that’s what how the cool kids respond!). His priorities aren’t watching the eight millionth debate on a network that is barely keeping it’s head above water.
Look, again, while I may not agree that Bush is “dumb”, you can certainly tease him with clips of countless other Bushisms, but this isn’t even close to being one. He didn’t know that Maria was one of the hosts, because watching the debate isn’t a priority to him. Big friggin’ deal?
Seriously guys, he gives you so much to work with. Actually treating this like it matters in the least is pretty pathetic.
Again, it has nothing to do with being dumb. The very headline “asks GOP debate host whether she was at the debate” is misleading. It implies he watched and is so stupid didn’t know he was talking to the same chick. I suspect many of you commented under that impression. Once you realize he didn’t watch the debate, you realize how pointless this post actually is. I pointed that out, and the argument from some of you is that Bush should be sitting in the White House, watching GOP debates that no one else was watching.

I don’t think he’s stupid, I think he’s unfit and incapable doing his job properly. Letting him and his merry band of law breakers into the White House in the first place – now that was stupid.
Here’s a sobering thought: everything Bush does is in the name of God. If he really truly believes that he’s God’s emissary (which I think he does) – that not only makes him capable of doing anything but far more dangerous than if he were just saying it to secure his legacy. Add drinking/drugs and it makes the problem WAY more of a problem.
October 12th, 2007 at 2:11 pmRightWinged, you miss the larger point. The candidates ignored Bush. They don’t want to be associated with him. He is a leper in the Republican party.
It’s too easy to just bash Bush for this. As you say, there are so many more things he truly deserves the condemnation of this country. Not watching this debate isn’t one of them. But you are ignoring that the republican candidates are ignoring him as well.

X, what does it take?
October 12th, 2007 at 2:58 pmAs usual, it has to be a woman who brings us all back into reality. Next question, how do we deal with it?
Comment by foreyes — October 12, 2007 @ 2:46 pm
foreyes —— PRETZELS.
LOTS and LOTS of pretzels.
October 12th, 2007 at 3:07 pmIncurious, stupefied moron.
October 12th, 2007 at 3:25 pmIt is telling that he would question her motives.

Really, can you be more specific?
October 12th, 2007 at 3:26 pmYou can hoax a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.
October 12th, 2007 at 3:34 pmI swear these guys are amazing. They don’t watch any debates or interviews or read any publications or reports. How in the hell can you run a country when you are so uninformed?
Comment by Trizza — October 12, 2007 @ 1:00 pm
Easy…you select a VP who’s been planning for this moment for 30 years.
October 12th, 2007 at 3:37 pmHow could anyone possibly mistake the word†hoax†for “coaxâ€? “You were trying to hoax me…â€
WTF?
Comment by Frosty Cupcake — October 12, 2007 @ 1:12 pm
A coax is a hoax, of course, of course, and no one can say a hoax is a coax, of course, unless, of course, the hoax, of course, is the famous Mr. Bush!”
October 12th, 2007 at 3:42 pm106 – Man. Way to spoil my joke, foreyes….
It’s a reference to a story that Dumbya *nearly* choked on a pretzel once upon a time.
I’d just like to give him another shot at it.
October 12th, 2007 at 3:54 pmPretzels. Lot’s of pretzels. Put them in a blender with some lime and cement and water. Then shove the paste up George’s nose and mouth and let it set up.
Voila! No more stupid ramblings from the Chimp.
But, I really want to see that cowardly little puke in front of a microphone under oath. And without the Dick telling him what to say.
October 12th, 2007 at 4:00 pmBush only watches the Democratic debates. He wants to hear what his successor is saying.
October 12th, 2007 at 4:29 pmHaha, I love you clowns try to justify your stupidity here… I’m not going to go in depth (again) about how pointless of a post this is. Bush didn’t know she hosted, because he didn’t watch. That shouldn’t matter in the least. What does “watching” accomplish? And who the hell watches MSNBC in the first place?
Now, for those who’ve tried to divert and act like there’s really something to be discussed here, you’ve basically all said variations of:
I suppose your evidence for this, is that he’s quietly been advising Hillary (among others) in the event that she takes over? Yeah, he doesn’t care at all about the fate of the nation… he’s only willing to help that flip-flopping power hunger monster, despite how she’s treated him. Clearly he’s the devil.
October 12th, 2007 at 6:46 pmThe very headline “asks GOP debate host whether she was at the debate†is misleading.
Comment by RightWinged — October 12, 2007 @ 2:03 pm
These right-wingers make me laugh. It seems for them an even accurate description of reality is, in itself, “misleading”.
Because the headline describes perfectly well what Pres Bush did; to wit, ask the GOP debate host whether she was at the debate.
What they actually want is a rewording of reality in a way that doesn’t offend their sensibilities. Tough luck, cultists.

I’m still surprised that ANYONE took that verbal exchange at all seriously. Maria Bartiromo appears to have understood what was going on – that it was a jest.
I’ve already said it came across as lame. But SERIOUS? I don’t think so.
October 12th, 2007 at 7:29 pmMaybe Bush “hoaxed” us into his disastrous War in Iraq. Is there any way to restore our national credibility with this babbling moron in our White House?
October 12th, 2007 at 7:29 pmHere’s a quick test for you Gregor… If I once stole a gun from someone trying to kill me, and shot them instead, and someone told the story to you, but simply said “He killed someone”, that would be misleading, even though it’s technically what happened… Get it genius?
The headline (and the post) is intended to imply Bush is so dumb that he watched a debate and then was interviewed by the host and didn’t even recognize her. In reality, he (like everyone else) had something more important to do than flip their TV to the failing MSNBC.
Big freakin’ deal, Bush didn’t watch the debate. Why should he watch any of the debates? It doesn’t matter if he “watches”.
And again, before you people say “he should care about what happens after he leaves”, I already owned you clowns by pointing out the he’s even advising Hillary in the event that she wins, so don’t start again. And again, watching a debate is irrelevant for prepping for his own departure, and more than watching Conan does.
As for Ditch Mitch, was it Bush that hoaxed us in to the war? I thought it was countless quotes from 1990-2003, made by democrats, insisting that Iraq had WMDs (including Clinton in 98 on the eve of his attack on Iraq), etc. etc.
At any rate, I think I’m done here. I exposed you all for the dishonest and unstable people you are. As I told the clown in the other thread, I fully recognize that when you signed the contract to become a liberal, you swore an oath that you’d surrender any honesty that was part of your human nature, and devote your life to spin, lies, and personal attacks (as well as simple mindedness, the lack of critical and independent thinking). Have fun.

To a republican, being uneducated is a virtue.
Just like it was for them in school, when they used to make fun of the smart kids.
Comment by BARTLEBEE — October 12, 2007 @ 1:40 pm
Too bad you don’t know any real Republicans. I was the smart kid in school who was made fun of. Now I’m the smart ass adult who gets made fun of by guys like you.
And if what passes here for debate is considered “intelligent”, I’d rather be dumb. And I’d have to give up about 50IQ points to reach this level.
